Hey Google. How come the trade in values for the same Phone. In the US, the Pixel 6 Pro is value is $480 USD ($658 CAD). While the same phone in Canada is valued at $350 CAD ($256 USD. What is the reason behind the big price discrepancy??? What a rip. We pay more for the same phones and Canada and get a shifty trade in price. Left Canada in CAD. Right US in USD.
I agree 100%. And it's not just for cell phones but that's not a conversation for here.
It's just an estimate. They might just not have updated the calculator yet to compensate for the new "average" trade-in value for that particular market. I suspect that what they ultimately end up giving you would actually be the same.
Quite a difference...shaky estimate at best!

With a device as new (and therefore, volatile in terms of value) as this, I don't see any way around that. The trade-in (and the general street/retail) value could vary significantly depending on the device's actual condition and level of functionality.

Hey...not sure if this warrants a new thread or not, however I seem much worst trash lately on this board.
Interesting find today...Cloved shipped out the nexus as we all know. However the declared value (DV) amount they applied to Fedex was only $429.00. DC is means value of the product inclosed in the pkg. Now if I was shipping to my friend or something abroad this # can be easily manipulated. But since this is a company shipping a product, companies always put a DV of the actual worth of the product. So if pkg was damage, whatever...FEDEX would reimburst only $429.00 to clove/recipient, etc. Fedex maximum DV per package is $50,000. So they could have easily put $700 if the phone was worth that much. So the value of the nexus is $429 according to how Clove shipped it.
You actually want the value to be as low as possible so that your import taxes are lower.

I understand that, just didnt think it would be that low....however ive imported plenty of time and the DV was what Ive paid for.
I'm guessing it's more expensive to declare a package to be worth over $429? And in this case they are gambling/have experience on how many packages are lost in transit and concluded that while they will have to shell out some money for lost packages it's still worth it for the lower price they pay FedEx compared to insuring it at a higher value?
I really don't know... this was all speculation from my side
429 is the price in pounds. A simple currency typo, obviously. Great if reduces your tax hey

Yea, as for paying the DV to ship on clove's end it is more expensive per pkg but not by much from $400 to $700..not much at all. But since they ship so much that little difference can add up.....You can ship from $0 to $100 DV thru Fedex with no extra charge.
One other thing I do different is that anything over $500 will automatically have internal packaging inspection which can delay shipping. Since its under $500 Clove by passes all that.

That makes more sense...didnt think of that...Its a typo on fedex part.
I think I had that happen once. Of course its lighter on wallet customs wise.
If the product is damaged you don't get the money the shipper does. That could be there cost.
Hello everyone!
Three has the galaxy nexus with contract on 34 pounds per month. At the end of this month this contract ends. if anyone of you knows, are they gonna decrease the price or they gonna increase it at the 1st of Dec?
thank you
I don't think there's any way of knowing. I'm sure the operators price their phones based on supply and demand, as it's popular and quite new, I think it's doubtful the price will drop before Christmas.
Hm I'm asking this question because I'm International student and 9 of the 24 months I will be in my country and is little bit expensive 34 pounds for a student
You would be lucky to get it much cheaper unless you can pay some towards the phone
A 24 month contract will probably be the best, but this is a new phone and it's top of the range, so it will be expensive however you do it. If you can pay something towards the phone, it will reduce the monthly charges.
For someone in the United States trying to get the HSPA version of the Galaxy Nexus, where would be it be the cheapest to buy from (after tax, shipping, VAT, etc)?
I've been trying to get my hands on the GNexus, but paying 750+ USD just doesn't seem worth it (even if it won't come out in the US for a month or two if at all). Can we compile a list to compare the prices of all the retailers (online preferably) that are selling the phone?

That's still a bit pricey... about one hundred more than what I am willing to pay (I got both the Nexus One and Nexus S for <$600). Is that the cheapest price anywhere?
Does it come with a warranty or insurance?

This costs more than the Nexus One or Nexus S. You won't find it for cheaper for a while.

Unless they start selling them in the US directly at retailers, you won't find one for under $600 any time soon. Right now Handtec is the cheapest at just under $700 as others have said. When calculating your price keep in mind that some credit card companies charge a foreign transaction fee of around 2%-3%.

That's it! I'm sleeping under a rock! Someone wake me up when the Galaxy Nexus is under $600! I have nothing else to live for! :'(
ok, got it... £450 is a pretty reasonable price to me, since i'm gonna be in the usa next week i'm thinking to buy it, so i'm wondering if i'll need to pay any import duty...
Youre also paying the premium of it being imported and the satisfaction of having it early. Its not a high rollers club thing. Its just reality at the moment. The more my atrix rebooted the more i want to throw this phone out the window even though its a nice and capable phone. My nexus hopefully will be here by friday. Oh yes it will be mine.
Sent from my samsung gt i9250 which is in the wrong country.
They come out in Canada on the 8th so there should be more of them out there so the price should (theoretically) go down
No. Probably still looking at $700usd with all the fees, shipping and taxes. Some of us thought about that but the savings are marginal.

Here is how to get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for up to as little as $465 in the US:
1. Sign-up for MrRebates.com to get 2% cash back from Expansys-USA.
2. The phone on Expansys USA is $750, but you can use the discount code 20OFFLS to knock the price to $730. (It has to be a US seller in order for you to be able to use step 3.)
2. Since you use MrRebates.com, you get 2% cash back, which brings the effetive price down $715.
3. You can use the Price Protection feature of your credit card to get price drops of up to $250 reimbursed, but only if the transaction was in US Dollars. So if, within 60 days, you see the phone advertised in the US for less than $730, the credit card will give you the difference.
4. This might reduce your total damage to $465.
We may not see a full $250, but I venture to say that a $100 price drop is virtually guaranteed.
Other have mentioned to use BigCrumbs.com instead for 4% cash-back. Their reviews are not quite as good as those of MrRebates.com though.

Interesting about the price protection... i never knew that. I did some quick googles on it, and it seems most credit cards don't have it anymore, or the restrictions make it useless.

Your "total damage" will only be as low as the cheaper one you could get in the US. And since the phone will never be sold for $465 unlocked in the US, you'll never get a full $250 back. Like you said, a more reasonable price we'll see for the US unlocked version is about $600.

For example this one: http://www.capitalone.com/cash.
ebates.com has 6% cash back from expansys-usa again today so i ordered mine for $750 - $20 coupon - 6% ebates cash back - 1% credit card cash back = $678.9 in the end (hopefully). oh and if you're a new ebates.com user you get a $5 cash back bonus.
Thanks for all of the tips everyone. I think I may pull the trigger today and get the Galaxy Nexus from Expansys.

so now that the GN is 100% possibly going to be released tomorrow(12/15), what's the best price the unit is going for?
$299 at Verizon
$289 at CostCo
anyone else have it going for lower?
if you're going to get the thing you may as well get it for the best price right?
[EDIT] and yes, that Q was supposed to be a W. i blame the tiny keyboard i'm using.
you have to consider verizon's expensive plan rate times 24 months commitment.

Bingo.
Also OP, I'm sure there will be deals on Amazon wireless and others if you're willing to sign an extra contract and ETF burden.
i had gotten the Rezound for $219 at Best Buy Mobile. i have until the 16th of this month to exchange....
that being the case, if i can get it as close to a 'straight swap' as possible i'd love to keep the extra money for gas/food.
BBM price matches other stores
Called 4 Costco stores in SE Michigan and getting mixed answers. One person said the 21st. Another said "when Verizon gets them". $289 supposedly includes a bundle of other items with it. Can anyone confirm Costco will be selling tomorrow?
Costco's 289 price includes leather case, leather holster, travel charger (home+car), and screen protectors. Also includes no restock fee..so that alone seems to be a good savings overall. I get my family's phones at Costco..they're a pretty good crop of people and don't give you crap!
I saw someone state Target will have it for $199, but I have no proof.
What about Best Buy and their technology protection program? That seems like a cost-effective way to go and still be able to upgrade your device in less than two years.
With corporate discount it should be $249 from Verizon from day one. (This is how it was with the Razr, Rezound, etc.)
$155/$175 (new/upgrade) from letstalk
http://www.bgr.com/2011/12/14/verizon-galaxy-nexus-available-for-just-154-99-letstalk/
i dont think its going get much cheaper any time soon.
Hey guys, if anyone has bought their Gnex from the google play store, I was wandering if I could have some questions answered.
The device is not availble from the google play store in my country and the stores sell it for twice the price.
So given that a friend is coming to the US for about a month, I was thinking of having her order it from there and bring it to me
on her way back. My questions follow.
How long does it take for delivery ( I am not exactly sure -where- my friend is going I think it's Massachusetts)
Are there any extra costs I should be aware of trasportations or taxes
Does google deliver all over the US.
The reasons I cannot find these answers on my own is because trying to enter the shop I only get a message that
the service is not available in your country just yet.
Thank you in advance.
1) right now, it should take 1-2 weeks (im assuming since they just went back available)
2) there will be shipping ($12 i think?) and sales tax, which depends on city and state.
3) yes.
Got mine in 2 days. 391 shipped to NYS.
Do you mind giving me a rough estimate of the tax? I'd like to calculate how much I am agoing to vive my friend for the best/worst case scenario.
http://www.mass.gov/dor/individuals/taxpayer-help-and-resources/tax-guides/salesuse-tax-guide.html
according to this, sales tax is 6.25%
EDIT: i would estimate Mass has county taxes too... id guesstimate 7%
i live in TN which has one of the highest sales taxes.. its anywhere between 9.25% and 9.75% depending on county.

Sales tax is applied at the state level, but the most it will be is around 10% in the highest taxed states.
Shipping was $10 I believe.
