Has anyone else has this option greyed out?
I have the option to choose between 5G,4G,3G,or 2G (Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Preferred Network Type).
Yep they've greyed it out even though my phone was bought simfree (unlocked)

If you scroll down a bit further, don't you have a Preferred Network setting?
Nope just a 'Choose Network' which is also greyed out
I'm at a loss, hopefully, someone else will chime in.
FWIW, mine is a US Model, puchcased from T-Mobile, SIM unlocked (using a T-Mobile SIM Card).

You could always just use the dialer code *#*#4636#*#*
Turns out certain networks have the option disabled, I had the same problem when using an ID Mobile sim but my Vodafone sim was fine. To fix the problem make sure your rooted as I don't know of any other way other than the one I'm going to show.
Use a file manage that can show you root files (I use MiXplorer)
Go to /data/user_de/0/com.android.phone/files
Look for a XML file that starts with "carrier", If you have more than one then you've used more than 1 SIM in the phone, Make sure you've opened the XML file for your SIM.
Look for the line "hide_preferred_network_type_bool" and change it from true to false.
Reboot.
Profit.
Hope it works for you.

I'm with Smarty (owned by Three) which also uses the Three network like idmobile so it looks like Three maybe the culĀ·prit
I'm on I'd mobile which uses threes network.
Type this *#*#4636#*#* in dialer, it enters a test mode.
Click on phone info which takes you to another screen.
Scroll down and you'll see a slightly gray box that if you click on that and scroll through you'll find LTE only.
Click it and that's it, 4g network only.
Restart phone, job done.
Pretty sure my battery also seems to last longer

Who's your telco?
Are your APN settings correct (Settings -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names)?
Do you have the right network type settings set (Settings -> More... -> Network types, and/or dial *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> Set preferred network type)?
Hey thanks for getting back to me. Sorry I forgot , I am on ATT. newbie to all this so not quite sure about all that APN stuff

Go into setting/more/mobile networks/network mode and make sure either lte option is selected as well as in access point names make sure att&t lte is selected
Check your APN settings and since you're on AT&T just Google "AT&T APN settings" and it should be the first link. I'm still new so I cant link yet. :/
Same problem here and connection to LTE is very intermittent. I'm on Telus and I've tried both the LH1 and LK4 modems to no avail. It always connects to 3G or H+ and then tries to connect to LTE and I see the following "dead" signal bar:

At which point if I try to place a call I obviously get the following error:
OK I am very curious if i can disable all network modes except gsm or just select only gsm. Now a lot of you are wondering why and pulling out your hair, well in my area there are a lot of places that I get 1 bar of any other network, but if i manually force my phones over to gsm I get full bars and great reception, even in buildings and basements that everyone considers dead spots. So yes there is a legit reason to this and I'm very curious if this can easily be done with the us model?
thanks

You can force the radio to GSM only using the hidden menu..
You can get to this menu by typing in the following code in the phone dialer : *#*#4636#*#*
I always forget the code, so I use an app called Network Switcher which does the exact same thing as the code..
The second SIM slot is GSM voice+text only. So if you ever want to turn off data, I s'pose you could just disable SIM 1 if you had a second one in.

very good I believe this is what I was looking for. It works this way with my current phones and wanted to know if it was in the zp2. some companies/carriers disable this.
The network at my place is really spotty. If I don't set the network as LTE Only, it keeps fluctuating between LTE and 2G, and it's as good as having no network because calls keep getting dropped, even as they're being answered. Please help.
I'm in the same boat as of lastnight.. used to use an app to force LTE. Tried several different apps and my device is not compatible they tell me.... Really sucks
So I've been fighting with this all day, and just found a solution. I'm using a Google phone app instead of the Samsung one. I put a code in that I remember using years ago on a nexus device. *#*#4636#*#*.
Got me to the correct menu, back to LTE forced. Won't work on my Samsung dialer tho for some reason.
Hope this helps.
I found the solution! They renamed the Radio Info activity to Phone Info, and they moved it to the Phone app from the Settings app! Download Quick Shortcut Maker, then create a widget of QSM on your launcher, then in Phone (com.android.phone), scroll down and select Phone Info (com.android.phone/com.android.phone.settings.RadioInfo), then name it as per your wish, set the icon of your choice, and then click create.
Congratulations! Now you can set your phone to "LTE Only"!
Android 11/OneUI 3.0 sure seems to have a lot of bugs, causing issues everywhere you look.
you can use an apk called netmonster to give you acess to phoneinfo.

You can easily do that in settings.

I don't have that option. Any clues on how to enable it?
U have 2 options:
-to select which SIM will handle the calls (fist one);
-to select which SIM will handle Mobile Data (second one).
As I see, u have both SIMs to handle calls, and SIM1 to handle Mobile Data. I just suppose that SIM which handle calls handles SMS too (I do not have 2 SIMs in my phone), so try to select SIM2 in first option and see what happens with the SMS.

If I select default for calls for example SIM1, nothing changes, I tried to switch mobile data to the other card and still nothing happens too, in fact, i never saw the option showed by FlyingDutchdude in my SIM settings.
The way I have set up SIMS for calls is that it asks which one before calling. But that should have nothing to do with SMS. The data card too, both should not be a dependency for the default SIM card in SMS. Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks for the reply
Do u have stock ROM? Try do to his combo (calls SIM1 and Mobile Data SIM2) and see if his SMS option is showing/activate on ur phone too.
Seems that what u want is not possible (at least referring to 2020) https://c.mi.com/thread-3148384-1-0.html

I'm using MIUI global 12.0.5
I'm living in an area with a not so strong 5G-NSA coverage.
The 9 Pro won't connect to it most of the times, but if it connects the speeds are a lot higher than just with plain LTE.
Is there a way to force a 5G-NSA connection? (Like forcing LTE through *#*#4636#*#*). This would be amazing.
Have u tried the app, "Network Signal Guru"? It's a root app with base features plus paid features for a monthly subscription. It has forcing options available and might be worthwhile to check out.
System Setting --> Developer Options --> Networking --> 5G Network Mode
Choose --> NSA Mode

There sadly is no such option for "Networking" inside the Developer Options. Which OS do you right now have?

That one is unchecked by default for nearly all providers as this feature is just dumb.
Still there's no way to force NSA. And please show a screenshot from your developer settings, wold be cool to switch between SA and NSA. I just cannot find the option there.

With root "network signal guru" will allow you to force what you want. I had mentioned, but just wanted to add again in case anyone needed the info.
You can try run in dialer *#*#4636#*#*, go into Phone Information and choose NR only in Set Preferred Network Type.
