So My Xperia Play vibrates when I turn it on, The screen sort of lights up very faintly (like just the back light?). But nothing actually displays on the screen.
I have changed the battery, and I know it is a good battery as I've tested it in a different device.
I have done a lot of googling and I think maybe its a "flex cable"
Has anyone experienced anything similar and can anyone link me to Flex cable that I should try?
Thanks!

I've had my Xperia (r800x, Verizon) for about half a year now and have never had any problems with it. However, one day, out of the blue, I tried to bring it out of sleep mode, but it wouldn't come on. I pushed the home button and the power button a few times, but nothing happened. Then I took out the battery, replaced it, turned it back on, and the screen worked.
Unfortunately this happened more and more, and eventually, I tried to unlock it even though the screen was still black. I swiped, and my Xperia vibrated like it does when it unlocks and made the unlocking noise. So I know the screen is on, but nothing is showing up.
I tried a factor reset, to see if that would help, but it didn't. However, if I leave it for a few hours, it'll work when I try it again. I seem to have more luck turning it on when I slide out the gamepad, but it may just be me.
Also, when it's on, the screen will flicker off and on when I open the gamepad and close it.
I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem, but I am leaning toward hardware. My Xperia is not rooted, if that helps.
I've looked around, but I can't seem to find anyone else with my problem, so if anyone could help, that would be great.

replace your flex cable
Hello everyone, I have a Sony Xperia that's not co-operating with me anymore after I tried to flash it and maybe someone could give me a hint to what I can do so I can use this guy again as I miss it.
Right now it's in a state where I don't have any power lights, vibrating, absolutely nothing. The battery does have a full charge and I've tested it by swapping the battery out so I know it's good. I noticed a huge problem when the computer came up as a "QHUSUB" device in my device manager which I thought was quite odd. So I just rolled with it and got the drivers in hopes that would fix it but that was a no go. When I'm holding down to flash, it's not even recognizing the device. Went and tried just about every little trick in the book I could think of but nope, I'm just failing. If anyone has any hints, tips or tricks would be appreciated!
Thanks alot everyone.

Hi!
I brought my Xperia Play phone USED two years ago and I've never had any problems with it.
However, recently, the phone has started to freeze itself in "screensaver" mode (Where the screen goes black after 15 seconds and locks the phone), but the screen won't light up no matter which button I press. I've had to restart the phone every time this happens.
It's been behaving strange at start up as well, as it sometimes take 20 minutes just for it to turn on, while on other occasions, it won't turn on at all!
Is this problem caused by the battery, or is it the hardware?
Is it with stock firmware?

Yes.
I've never modded it or installed custom firmware/apps.
Have you tried factory resetting it?

Yes, but it didn't fix it. The problem still occurs.
tldr: Black screen, no display, everything works "under" (I can answer the phone etc). Not a flex cable problem because occurs randomly, regardless of the slider being open or closed. The problem also occurs during boot up, so rather not a software problem.
I think I have something similiar. Everything was fine until a few days ago the screen didn't want to unlock..or at least I thought it was that.
Basically the phone sometimes works OK but sometimes if I turn off (lock) the screen, it won't go back. To be precise, the phone works and if someone calls me I can pick it up moving the finger where the slider should be, it's just the display doesn't turn on. Same goes for booting, bootloader logo etc, so IMO it's not a software problem.
Strange thing is that it just randomly pops back, sometimes when I move the gamepad slider, sometimes when I put in a jack cable or if I hard reset the phone (remove battery). I've had problems with the flex cable in the past and this time I know that it's not it (no difference if I open/close the slider).
My guess would be some power supply or LCD driver IC issues, because the screen stops working almost everytime if I put the phone into the dock. Moreover, if the screen doesn't work, the orange charging LED is not working (green and blue are OK). The moment the screen starts working, the orange charging LED starts working too.
it's very strange but I'm used to electronics doing strange stuff. Just wondering if I should give a try disassembling the phone and trying to fix it or just buy a new one or something?
I might add that I have bought a new battery ~3 months ago, but it's been working fine to this point. I have tried if the same problem occurs with the old/original battery and it's the same.
well, any ideas?
edit: This video shows something very similiar (except the backlight): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4p0-kv1cxA
Same problem. And I guess this guy has it too.

Any help?
Hello,
I've been having this strange issue. Every now and then the led turns orange like when the phone is charging, I know this is the case because I have installed several battery apps (accubattery, gsam) and when this happens the stats of these apps reset like I would have connected and disconnected the charger. Does the anyone know what could be causing this?
Also, I dont know if this is related, but when I turn off muy phone, I can't turn it on right away, even if the screen is black, I have to wait a while. I've also tried to enter into recovery when that happens and can't do that either, the capacitive buttons starts flashing.
I appreciate any help, since is kind of worrying.
Looks like you have a hardware problem, a short inside. Maybe changing the charger connector/flex solve your issue, else is a issue in the mainboard.
My fathers 5X stop working recently, unable to turn on the phone.
The two red lights was showed if I tried to charge is or start it.
So my first try was to change to a new orignal battery, the old battery seemed to bee very smooth(?).
After I installed the new battery nothing happens at all, even no red ligt and it doesn't respond on a charger either.....
Someone here who have experinced something similar?
