Couple quick concepts I'm confused about followed by an idea.
I want to install an S6 edge camera sensor into my Note 4.
I understand we don't have permanent root access on the note 4 because the bootloader is locked.
There is a developer version of the note 4 that can be purchased for a different price. Is it possible to turn a retail phone into a developer edition phone by flashing something?
Can I use the kingroot superSU method to get temporary root access?
Using the temporary root access can I port the Galaxy S6 camera application to my note 4? I read the porting thread here, but wasn't sure if it was only for developer phones or tmobile rooted phones.
Replacement S6 edge camera sensor: New users can't post links
Can I open my phone and replace the note 4 camera sensor with the S6 camera sensor? Using the S6 edge camera sensor, will it be fully functional and effectively "driven" by the ported S6 camera app? In my mind the camera app is the "driver" and I liken this to flashing a nvidia gaming GPU to think it's a workstation GPU and installing workstation drivers to gain new features. Is that a good way of understanding this?

"The Galaxy S6 edge uses the same 16MP image sensor as the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, the Sony IMX240. The S6 edge upgrades the rest of the camera hardware with a new lens, which has an f/1.9 aperture. This lets 34% more light in than the old f/2.2 aperture and also makes bokeh in macro shots look much better."
I guess since it's just a new lens, the phone will never know the difference unless the software is specifically designed to compensate for an f/2.2 aperture. I bought the OEM s6 edge camera module from ebay for $20.00 I'm going to swap it in and see how it goes. I'll post pictures.
Finally, with the temporary root tools available can I do this process? Or next time I boot my phone the camera app won't work because I've lost root access.
Lots of users have voiced their opinion to the xiaomi forums to improve the camera quality in the Mi Max. It is currently grainy, even in some medium light shots and especially in Miui 8. Has the latest weekly update (dev branch) improved the camera quality for you?
Notes: Despite widespread belief and youtube reviewers saying so, the Mi Max Does NOT have the same back camera as the its more popular cousin, the Redmi note 3 pro. They are completely different camera sensors and you can verify that in the phone's hardware test menu.
Hey there,
I've been using my redmi note 5 pro for more than a week now, and straight up the camera packed on this thing is really good. But for a tech YouTube like me, who compares this phones with the top flagship devices, the results are inconsistent.
First off I compared it with iPhone X, and was shocked with the results. The redmi note 5 pro performed so much better than the iPhone X. Now some people may say that comparing the two is not fair as there is a humongous price difference between the two. But xiaomi itself said that the phone was a natural competitor with phones like iPhone X and Google Pixel 2.
SO I HAD TO COMPARE IT WITH GOOGLE PIXEL 2 XL. But the results weren't so good. When compared to pixel's images, note 5 pro's images look washed out and soft. But it didn't lack completely back, as note 5 packing a bigger aperture did a little better than pixel 2 in low light situations, but again the results were pretty inconsistent. So at the end of the day no one can match Google's amazing algorithms of HDR+.
But I think if someone can port the Google camera in note 5 pro it will perform so much better as these two device pack almost identical camera hardware.
I'm not sure if camera 2 api is fully unlocked in this phone, can somebody please tell me how to do it. Do I just need to download the Google camera apk from the internet? I'm really curious to see how the redmi note 5 pro will perform with Google camera's algorithms.
Peace
You need to unlock your bootloader first and than flash twrp and magisk and than you can enable camera api 2 by editing Build.prop

Pixel has a bigger aperture, also with a larger pixel size than the note 5 pro... low light won't be better on the note 5 pro.
I rooted, enabled camera 2 api, installed google camera....but Google camera images had a lot of noise compared to stock camera(you can see noise on zooming into the pic)

But am asking whether it works in note 5 pro?
Google cam cant make RN5Pro images better. No google phone has dual cameras so Gcam will always use single lens to capture images

Our phone is also using single lens to capture images except portrait
120 fps video recording
the soc snapdragon 636 can have the feature of 1080p recording at a frame rate of 120fps, so can we able to record this on redmi note 5 pro using any third party app by rooting?

yeah on redmi note 3
perhaps it is necessary to install modified driver for the camera. (if this exists).
in youtube i saw a video that teached where find and install the driver, then install google camera on a note 4.
the difference in the photo (with original driver and with modified driver + google camera) was remarkable.

B
The second camera in rn5p is a depth sensor! So the primary lens does all the work and gcam will only use the primary lens ! So why wont it make the images better.
Though for A1 both lens Gcam has been ported at it works great!!!

How to install google camera in redmi note 5
Tell me sir....plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz
I have been wait for 2 more weeks to unlock my phone.
Hope to see the update which allow Google cam work on 5pro at that time. :3
have upgraded from note 4 uk model no SM-915-FY running stock Andriod version 6.0.1vs to the new note 10 plus 5g uk model no SM-N976B.
1) my note 4 has got more screen brightness to the note 10 on the same brightness level and the note 10 screen looks a bit duller.
2) The camera pictures quality looks good on the note4 then the note 10. i am using the camera app which came with the phone even after turning the beauty off in the camera settings.
has anyone else noticed the same diff.
is there any way to improve the camera picture quality on note 10, like any tweaks, i have heard that google camera gives better picture quality( is this merely a software issue then or ).
can someone comment which version of google camera to use on this phone or otherwise and where to download it for note 10 plus 5g.
many thanks
I have a note 4 to this day, and, what you are experiencing is by no means normal, the 10+ is way, way superior in all departments than the 4"s, my note 10+ screen is super bright, you should get your device checked by customer service, imo
for the brightness issue, go to settings > display > Screen mode > switch to VIVID
Hi! I'm new here. I am a complete Android upgrade/update/root etc.. virgin. What I'd like to do is if possible. Instead of having to buy a Note 10 for vastly improved camera photo quality. Is there a camera mod for the Note 8 (Exynos) Is there a custom ROM thats known to have a great camera? I do currently have a version of Google Pixel Camera v5 which blows away the stock camera app but Google Camera's on v7 now. Also, is it possible to update my device to Android 10 etc? My goal here is simply, the best possible quality camera/photos. Thank you for any help in advance!
