Raviole or just Raven?
@ctfrommn
Good Lord - aren't you the developer of Velocity ROM - the best ROM for my good old Nexus 6 (Shamu)?
Really a long time ago! I helped with the German translation at the time. Then my shamu broke and I switched to the fish "taiman" (Pixel 2XL). Now I'm also flying around with the "raven" (Pixel 6Pro)...
So if that's really you, then I'll flash your kernel immediately!

Yes, Raviole is slang for Raven/Oriole together.
Glad to see you here! Used your kernel for years! Good stuff!

Im told it works on Oriole as well.
Yes, good to see you again....feel free to hit me up in my TG group.
I am testing out your latest Raven release right now. Currently, I am quite pleased with what I am seeing. But, of course, the next two days will give me a few full runs of testing.
I currently have my mobile settings limited to LTE only, as 5G eats my battery like an Italian eats their pasta (really darn fast) - or maybe that's just me, haha. So, tomorrow will be a test whilst still limited to LTE. But the following day will be similar but with no mobile network type restrictions.
At the moment, my phone is running just as fast while staying super cool - and I am not sure if this is due to the UV or the other performance/scheduler changes (or both, of course).
So needless to say, I have high hopes. Thank you for this.
I just had YouTube running at 100% brightness on wifi, I know...I know...not 5G yeah yeah...but I lost 12 percent in 2 hours watching Transformers anddd...the temp shows for itself. I was testing it just laying on my floor trying to wear out the battery. Usually the battery is hot. I am blownnnnn awayyy. This kernel has changed my interest in this phone from absolutely hating it to kinda starting to enjoy it. My girlfriend aas equally blown away as my phone used to die quickly and always overheat.
v13.1 is up and is tested on August and September stable releases. I dont have this device and dont flash betas so I wouldnt recommend using this on the new beta.
Running on Android Beta, working super nice. low temps smooth as butter no funny business and a good improvement to battery life, not noticed any issues as of yet! Kudos @ctfrommn its superb!

I don't recommend flashing this on the beta. At least from my own experience. I tried it to see how it will run, but it seems that it causes a lot of freezing and random hangs. For me, its unusable on QPR1. I had to reflash stock boot

Not experienced this so far, if you run the A13.1 Kernel on beta then yes you would absolutely run into issues, if you run the beta kernel for the beta I can assure you there will be no issues what so ever. You can access the QPR1 Kernel via the telegram group. So far many of us on QPR1 with the QPR1 Beta Kernel haven't experienced a single hitch yet and I'm doing my best to try and break it to see what goes wrong but so far nothing but a lovely experience. My bad I should have elaborated what I am running to be more clear.

Its a pleasant surprise! I didn't intend on going into beta until I saw the reviews from the others and I had to give it a go, honestly couldn't be happier I did!
Absolutely ridiculous battery life.
I'd usually get 2.5 hours SOT from 100-50.
This Kernel has made the battery life outstanding. Thank you so much.

It seems to be working flawlessly with the phone, especially with the 7.1.1 update that rolled out. Most of the Pixel Launcher's features and functionality are apparent on the Robin for a more stock experience.
Sadly, I miss this aspect with the recently unsupported Nexus 6 that I still have in my possession as my main driver.
Let's see what Razer is going to use Nextbit for, and if it will be deemed worthy by tech junkies and the general public.

Los 15.1 is good but the performance isn't as great, for gaming i see a difference on PN is performs a whole lot better. That's for me anyway, it varies on people's opinion
No complaints about Validus' performance. The ROM is a bit hidden (not in device specific dev forums, GZR have their own subforum), I recommend to try it. Link for quick access is in my sig.
PN doesn't provide Oreo goodies for us anymore, so I'd skip that if you want latest features and security patches.

Here you go, screenshot attached. Not that I care about those benchmarks at all, I use my own eyes to benchmark stuff. I was a long-time user of PN on Nougat, but really it became slow and sluggish if I didn't clean flash like once a month or so. Haven't cleaned Validus for months since moving and it's still as snappy as ever. I think it has a lot to do with Oreo's superior memory management, but still even if PN might have produced better benchmark scores (I don't know, I got over this fad years ago so I didn't benchmark it), then that means absolutely nothing to me as it isn't representative of real-world usage.

Off-topic, but I recommend playing PUBG through MEmu. It's an Android emulator for PC. Basically you play it on your computer with mouse and keyboard like any other game, while easily pwning those on mobile because obviously it's a lot harder for them to aim and move at the same time on their small screens with inferior controls. It's funny, feels almost like cheating.

I'm not a big MIUI fan but until the initial 72 hours go by I'm stuck with it... However that doesn't stop me from looking into all kind of AOSP ROMs.
I know that I'll have to test and try them all myself, but I'm curious what all of you are using and why.
My biggest focus is definitely battery life (screen time more so than standby) and I'd love it if any of you could give me numbers on this as well.

Resurrection remix, OmniROM, and LineageOS all share code trees. The differences between them should rally just be the minor feature set differences. I personally use LineageOS, but that is just because I like Lineage.
RR from Arasthel is awesome, just very very bad battery life.
OmiRom, not as smooth as MIUI, but better battery life than RR (but slightly less than MIUI)

is your device full or has 100 apps running at the background? Miui is very very smooth. If your phone is clean then something wrong is going on with your miui. Some people complained for problems after ota update. A clean install solve the problem.
To add to what @papavales is saying, check what apps have autostart enabled. Great feature from MIUI that gives you great control over resource hungry apps.

Had some time to run the battery through its paces yet? Debating on whether I should go with official or unofficial builds here.
Official would mean hassle-free OTA, but unofficial (judging from the changelog) seems to be better tweaked for our device?

In my opinion WEEKLY are better, but thats mine. More stable and in my example more smooth (?)
I've settled for unofficial lineage os for the time being (now that I'm unlocked I need to try them all) and I'm just so happy to be back on AOSP after being forced to endure MIUI for three days waiting on the unlock permission...
The recent screen and notification shade on that thing just kill it for me.
Back in MIUI 4 and 5 they still rocked more or less clean versions of these but everything that came after just ruined it for me.

The fact that it is T-mobile shouldnt matter, its the same model as the NA/Global variant. Custom ROM's are in the works. Once one becomes public, the scene will explode with others able to cherry pick what they need.

I'm really hoping to see ROMs make better use of the LTPO display for power saving. As is, it pretty much always runs at 120 and then sometimes drops to 60. I feel like it should drop to 60 any time im not touching it, and even lower if theres no media player. my settings app does not need to sit at 120hz lol

Right but Nostalgia aside, CrDroid or dare I say vanilla Lineage are far better options - in my humble opinion.
I'm only saying this because I flashed havoc on 3 different devices, and it's always been riddled with bugs and broken features.
I hope pixel rom is coming too. I don't like roms with crowded settings.

How did you hardbrick it, did you literally smash it with a brick afaik these phones are 99% unhardbrickable
That's what i like to know as well.
I've flashed roms for about ten years or so and i never hard bricked a device.
And i can count the soft bricks i had on one hand.
I will also settle in a MIUI modded Rom. Because we hate Miui but our phones needed at least to work as intended, I know with a pair of bugs but at least we don't have empty pockets. I care about battery and SOT, I mean what I look for in a ROM. And with this one is what I got.

i have a oneplus 3t bought it new when it first came out, still run perfectly fine never opened, i have done all kind of experiments with it finally flashed PE about a year ago, i have all my authentication apps for work and personal accounts on it + banking apps and so on, flashing ROMs do not affect and longevity of a phone.
Arrow and Syberia are the best two roms right now. Syberia has more options than Arrow but both are stable and I haven't had any random reboots or glitches. The one plus side to Syberia is the ringtones actually play through both speakers instead of just the bottom one. It's the only custom rom with that feature which means they actually took the time to get that working and that's a good sign to me. I also like having Face unlock and any rom that doesn't have it I stay away from. Also basic things like hiding the battery icon and just showing the percentage and customizing the quick settings columns and rows are options I think all custom roms should have.
