Question Install pure Android on SM-S901E - Samsung Galaxy S22

Hi! I bought my phone recently and I would like to install pure android on this device. Is this possible? If so, I would also like to know if it would be possible to download this operating system directly from Google's server (just as we download Windows directly from the Microsoft website at https://www.microsoft.com/software-download, for example). The second question is for security reasons.
Thank you!

Since no one else has answered, I'll try:
I'm going to assume what you mean by "pure" Android is the unlocked version of Samsung's firmware for your particular phone model. If you don't have some version of the Samsung Galaxy s22, then you're asking your question in the wrong place.
First you need to find out whether your phone is locked, and if so, whether it can be unlocked.
Then, watch this video for an overview:
If you decide you would like to continue, an easier way of obtaining firmware is from samfw.com.
The video mentioned above includes links to the two different types of Odin, which is the software you would use to flash the firmware onto your phone.
In general, since you haven't done this sort of thing before, I would recommend triple checking every step, as there are certain mistakes you can make that will render your phone unusable.
Good luck!

im a noob and i want to flash my phone

I am a proud owner of the AT&T Xperia Ion and am getting sick being unable to download the apps i want and i have read around here i can flash the international firmware so i could have ICS on my phone. Well as a noob to androids i am obviously nervous as to the effects of flashing. so i would like to know the risks of flashing it are. Once the official AT&T firmware is released can i switch to it? Will all the data stored in my phone be erased? Will i be able to use LTE? Will the warranty be voided? i would also like to know if there are other things i should know about, as well as the process in which i can carry out the flashing. thank you everybody
1. Just flash back to stock att ftf, and you should get the update. Or, flash the att ICS ftf when it becomes available.
2. It's a good idea to wipe between flashes, so if you did, all your data will be gone. I backup contacts and calendar through Google, so getting data back for me is easy. App data on the other hand will be gone. Or, risk it and don't wipe, but you will likely get some stability issues.
3. You can get lte.
4. If you flash back to stock before taking your phone for service, there should be no warranty issues. Is you take it in with Chinese firmware, that'll likely be a problem.
Sent from Rooted LT28at with ICS.

I'm also a noob in Android. Last weekend flashed ICS on my Xperia, following the procedure for rooting. It took me maybe two hours to get all the instructions and download everything I needed. You´ll basically need the firmwares, Android SDK (the link is in the post with instructions, second one in the thread), Flashtool (the latest Windows version, which comes with the drivers for Ion, is in http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/). I followed everything from the instructions, but wasn't getting the same response from the ADB commands, it still worked.
Two things are missing from those instructions:
1. To have hotspot activated, you'll need to first flash the international GB firmware, wiping everything in your device (be sure to make backups of everything you´ll want, don´t trust Google backup).
2. Right after flashing ICS, Flashtool won't recognize your phone, even if you have the USB debugging option on. You'll have to update your PC drivers by going to Control Panel, Device Manager, and choose to have Windows search for updated drivers (while the phone is connected, of course). You´ll know you got it right when Device Manager displays a different name for your phone, and Flashtool is able to tell you the software version. At that point you can run the second part of the rooting procedure.

Hello!
When will be released the official ice cream sandwich for my xperia ion lt28i? (international version, bought from Hong Kong)
No time given really. I am guessing at the same time the US releases their's so will the European (International) Version. So maybe September / October time frame, could be earlier.

[Q] Updating beyond Android v 4.0.4 won't block ROOT, right?

Samsung Galxay S III, S3 64GB currently running:
Android v 4.0.4
Base T99UVLH2
Kernel 3.08-925100-user (~snip)
***************
Quick question or two.
Just received 2 T-Mo branded Samsung Galaxy SIII's 32GB.
EDIT: Phones are brand new- they are STOCK. (Not rooted)
This last week bought several BlackBerry PlayBooks 64GB, and found out "if "they are *allowed to "update" to the latest version it encrypts /blocks ability to ROOT the device PERMANENTLY.
(* PlayBooks are set to auto-update upon being first powered up, PRIOR to access to OS. Special procedures and apps need to be used so it does not apply "update" which blocks ability to ROOT the device.
*Latest PB OS v 2.1.0.1088 = Encryts bootloader IIRC.)
Q1: I'm concerned about OTA update, or enabling (clicking) "Software Update" manually applying a rom update /newer version of Android OS screwing up ability to ROOT the phone. Is this a issue of concern?
Q2: I noticed when I hit the button for checking "if" there is a update available a file was showing 335.65mb, so for sure a "update" is available.
Would it be best to backup current rom image , or is that image available online?
(I would assume it would be best- I guess my question is, "Is the Samsung SIII Android v 4.0.4" image available?
Is it a problem to roll back to a prior version?
(Sort of paranoid after the PlayBook auto updating so it can't be rooted... YES I know PlayBook isn''t running a Android OS)
What is the most well liked rom image for the S3 currently? (Stable)
Any info, links would be appreciated.
NOTE: I realize I have alot of reading to do, I have flashed /modded phones in the past so I have a grasp of what needs to be done, but rusty on the "particulars".

Are you already rooted? If you update you could lose root I'm not really sure since I'm not on stock but it is easy to re-root it if you have too. And no updating wont permanently block your device from being rooted.

Thank you,
After experiencing the "joy" of PlayBook #1 of #4 doing a forced update to a OS version which was not rootable, plus was non reversible wanted to get a feel on what was going on. In the end with the PlayBooks I have (1) unit left that I'm debating to root or not... REASON? There's like (1) person on the CrackBerry forums that has a in-depth knowledge of the QNX OS.... and the info on flashing a "rootable" version of the OS is not well documented. (Info is scattered amongst multiple threads- the (1) poster with a in-depth knowledge posts in a cryptic fashion.
Process seems pretty simple, but there is little "traffic" in the rooting section so that does not inspire confidence in getting answers to problems that may pop up after the "root".
From what I read BlackBerry /RIM closed the loophole that allowed the PB's to be rooted fairly quickly and numerically the numbers of persons who even have a "rooted" PlayBook is few and far between, VS those with Android powered devices. )
Getting back to the Samsung,
As noted above: Looking for rom with a high WAF. (Wife Approval Factor)
Stability is a factor, and "time" tweaking is at a premium.
What rom would you recommend?
PS: Also on the hunt for a work-around to enabling tethering on Android 5GB plan.
(If tethering can be done without rooting, may leave the units stock for about 30-days or so until hardware is proven to be defect free. If you have any info on that, I'd be all ears.)

If it's for your wife then I would probably stick with stock so she doesn't complain about minor bugs lol or you could try a touchwiz based rom. Just check out the different roms in the android development & original android development thread and see if you find any that you like
As for tethering I can't help you much since I don't really use it. I did a quick search and found this thread that might be able to help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988735
If you are wanting to root I would use the root injected rom. The instructions can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
This gives root but fully stock otherwise. It is probably one of the safest ways to root.

That sounds exactly like what I, and others than are concerned about "warranty" issues on new phones- baring a total hardware failure would benefit from until the hardware is proven itself to be DEFECT FREE.
Would like to "burn-in" the device, making sure nothing is amiss.
Thanks!

This is a fairly easy way to get root WITHOUT tripping the flash counter that will void the warranty. If you don't care about tripping the counter then you can get root other ways.

[Q] Live Demo Unit flashing/installing full os

Hi there guys,
long story short, i got Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 2014 (sm-p600xzwebtu) Live Demo Unit from work, which i believe is specifically manufactured for retail and comes with quite a lot of limitations, so i need to flash it and install either custom os (i was thinking cyanogenmod) or at least official android.
First of all, it does have developers mode, and it allows me to volume down+power to get it to "downloading os" screen, so i assume i should be able to flash it with odin, but before i do try, maybe someone has dealt with same problem before and has ready to go solution?
reason i am asking is that last year i got couple of Archos devices, those as well were made for retail demo, and they had hardware limitations on ability to flash roms

Yeah, you should have no problems. what i would personally do first is download the stock samsung firmware for consumer/non demo mode tablets and flash that. then just follow root procedures and all that.
I could be mistaken, but I don't believe that's an actual LDU device. LDUs usually have an X at the end of the model number (ie SM-N900X), and I've only seen LDU phones, never any LDU wifi-only tablets. BTU is the region code for the UK, you probably just have a normal UK tablet with retail mode software on it. The hardware and firmware on the device are no different than a retail UK device, but it's running a special Samsung Retail Mode that restricts a lot of functions.
If you know the proper passwords, you should be able to remove the retail mode. Flashing a stock firmware might not work, as the retail mode software is a user app and NOT part of the device's firmware (unless you DO have an LDU, but based on the model number I don't believe that's the case), but it's worth a try. A factory reset would remove the retail mode, but some of the newer retail mode software prevents you from doing that.

[Q] I can't update phone, also general questions about rooted device [New user]

Hello,
I just got and Samsung galaxy S3 from a family member. And first thing I did, was reset it to factory settings. Which went ok.
Now I would like to update the phone. Current android version is 4.1.1. When I go into update section of the phone I get message that current phone version is up to date, but I read on the internet that latest version is 4.4.2. How should I best proceed in order to update the phone.
Also, I have several questions which I've been wanting to find out (Please note that I'm quite new to android):
1. This phone was rooted. It appears that after factory reset it is still rooted (According to Titanium Backup) is that how it should be? I thought that after factory reset phone would not have root access. Also what is strange, that after performing a factory reset I already had quite old version of Super Su pre-installed and CyanogenMod file manager, why is that?
2. I have an AT&T version of the phone. But I live in Europe where there is no sign of AT&T. Is it possible to remove AT&T branding? Also this phone has some kind of custom Adnroid software update "AT&T software update", which always tells me that v4.1.1 is the latest version of android available for my phone. Is it possible to revert back to native software update?
3. I did a factory reset on the phone about 30 minutes ago, how it already has 5.5 GB of free space used? - For some reason factory reset didn't remove music and photos.
4. I found the application named "System app remover". Can I trust its judgement on which apps are safe to remove?
5. How can I make sure if I have 2core processor or 4 core processor? - I downloaded this program "CPU / RAM / DEVICE Identifier", I have 2 core snapdragon processor
Hi Viltnieks!
You are correct: there have been newer Android updates released for the Samsung Galaxy SIII (SGH-i747/SGH-i747M variants). I know you tell you got an AT&T variant of the phone, but just to make sure, please double-ckeck under the Phone Settings --> About Phone that your device model is the SGH-i747 one. This info can also be found on a sticker under the battery. If you have another SGSIII device model, you are in the wrong forum.
I'm not exactly sure to pinpoint your phone's current state. At one point, you say that it has the AT&T Updater, but it also has been rooted, and contains CM file manager... As you want to update the phone's OS (ROM) to a newer version and would like to remove AT&T branding, I'll just straight skip to your second point:

There are basically three kinds of ROMs:
1. the official, carrier's ROM;
2. custom ROMs based on the carrier's official ROM. Those are ROMs created by the community, but are build on the carrier's one;
3. custom ROMs based on the Android Open Source Project, or one if its derived ROMs.
If you flash the first kind of ROM, you will have all the official stuff provided by AT&T, exactly as if the phone was brand new, out-of-the-box; this also imply that you will get all the AT&T stuff (AT&T Updater, AT&T-related softwares, AT&T branding...). If you flash the second kind of ROMs, you may get some of the AT&T stuff, though generally speaking ROM developers do a pretty good job at removing unneeded carrier junks and branding, or allow the user to choose which of the carrier-apps he wants to install or not. The third kind of ROMs are the cleanest kind looking at carrier-related stuff: it does not have those kind of things.
I have not given you a straight answer, as it is not my place to choose for you what you want. Still, I believe if you want to get rid of AT&T's branding, you would be more interested in custom ROMs, either carrier-based ones or AOSP/CM-based ones. For this reason, I would suggest you take a look around in the Android Development and Original Android Development sub-forums, where lots of custom ROMs are published by developers. Read the first posts of the threads, you will find what ROMs have to offer, what they look like, if they are based on stock or on AOSP/CM, if they are debloated, etc. The first posts also contain informations on how to install, so carefully read them.
You need to be running a completely stock ROM in order to receive OTA updates. This mean you cannot be rooted, stock apps should be present, and stock recovery.
Thank you for replying!
After double checking I can verify that model number indeed is SGH-i747. I also get AT&T logo before samsung logo when powering up, AT&T phone book and some other AT&T applications.
It has the AT&T updater, yes, but it isn't working. I always get "Software update interrupted. No update is available.." Or "Current software is up to date. You may check again in 24 hours"
And, indeed it has CM file manager and Super SU app installed, even If I do factory reset, these apps show up without installing. I guess it means that this is some kind of custom rom based carrier's ROM?
If I have a rooted phone, is it normal that it will stay rooted after factory setting reset?
I'm quite new to this, I wanted to clarify, ROM is like a version of android os?
I don't really need any of the carrier's stuff, so I guess 3rd kind of ROM would be best for me.
Is this the place where to look for roms - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att#romList?
Preferably I would like the phone to have global ROM, the one that comes with samsung galaxy S3, before carrier's add their stuff.
Factory reset will not remove the CM File Manager or SuperSu because they were probably installed via custom recovery or Odin. Only apps installed from the ROM itself will be removed.
I suggest installing the Samsung Phone Info app from the Play Store to determine the bootloader and modem installed on your phone and report back. The bootloader version is important to know before flashing anything.

Bootloader File Versions Help

Hi, I'm trying to correct some confusion that I have in dealing with various bootloader file vrrsions which run with the smp600. One what I believe is a stock virgin android 5.11 (KitKat), the bootloader ID shows as P600UEUDQF1. Is this correct for stock? My tablet is running a current custom ROM with LP bootloader which shows as P600XXUDPL1. Is this also correct? Many time that I have asked for a simple listing to show this, but never get straight answers. I did not think the question was difficult, and since a bootloader CAN be changed from stock, they don't always correspond to the installed version of android. But these two are supposed to be P600URUDQF1 -KitKat and P600XXUDLP1 -Lolipop.
Can snyone correct these if they are wrong. Now, I have a 3rd smp600 unit bight in the states. I suspect that it may even have a different chipset than the first two... Thanks ;DDeanoD
Have you ever found an answer to this?
I have the same P600UEUDQF1 and because I dunno if it is a lollipop bootloader or not I don't know if I should first update it before attempting root/custom OS...
