I just tried the samsung pen and it is not as good as expected. Its not crisp and quick. Writing with my finger is better. So the pen goes back to the maker.
It may have to do with the screen protector but I doubt it.

Removing my screen protector helped a bit but I'm still not impressed either.
How did you expect it to work? It's not smart like the s-pen on the note. All it is meant to do is replace a finger.

My thoughts exactly!
I'm using one of those cheap stylus pens often bundled with cases and I found that it's better than my finger. Don't see the need for a c - pen know I know it's not an improvement

do you remember which one was that?
i thought id find the c-pen and memo usefull if i could write in a similar fashion as when taking notes on a paper. (well as close as it can get)
This is just Samsung cashing in on the popularity of S-Pen and charging 40 times the price of some capacitive pens with no better results.
You could tell by all of the pictures that the CPen is a gimmick. I was very disappointed when they didn't replicate the Note's SPen.

Well, it is has a 3mm tip according to the specs. This is much smaller than a capacitive stylus.
I don't understand why they would change what already works. Does it have a button like the Note stylus?

No. No buttons on it

C pen a big failure
The C-pen is a complete failure, its really bad, i expected it to be better than galaxy note as there is a lotta hype created for samsung galaxy s3. I was completely taken aback with its sad precision and smoothness. The way Samsung is going i thought they must have definitely improved the feel of thw cpen but it was not. this is a set back.

The Note is marketed to a specific segment, completely different from the Galaxy S line of phones. The Note uses a Wacom digitizer for the stylus that is much more precise, whereas the S3 uses a traditional capacitive pen because it isn't marketed to have the same kind of stylus functionality as the Note (and the Wacom digitizer does add a certain amount cost) - otherwise they'd include the stylus with the S3 the same way it's included with the Note.
Actually, the C-Pen is more than a regular capacitive stylus since it apparently doesn't work with other capacitive screens for some reason, but the principle is still the same. It's like wondering why your cell phone is missing the nice 10 inch screen from a tablet.

It is a step backwards. Sure the Note was a niche market, but they didn't skimp on the stylus for it. SMemo and SNote can't be the same with the CPen. IMO they should've stuck with the design even if it is an optional accessory. It adds more functionality.

I just don't like the implication through omission of details Samsung are making that this is like the S Pen, I mean I just think they want to trick people to believing this can do the same job as S Pen because obviously it's got a similar name and they making no effort to explain it.

Adding the Wacom digitizer adds cost to the phone, so the phone would have cost more with it included. It makes sense to not include it when this is marketed to those wanting a regular phone, whereas those that are looking for specific stylus functionality can go to the Note.

I understand why they didn't offer the pen with the phone and why the Note would have one. Why they didn't make an SPen that is compatible is what I am wondering. Cost isn't an issue when sold as an accessory.

I tried this C-pen as well and it's a PoS.
Ironically, I've just taken delivery of a charging stand that comes with a free pen (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0080R6MW0/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00) and that one works better than the C-pen. (And it's an ink pen too!)
Couldn't make it up.
Okay, this is very annoying.
The rubber tip of my s-pen broke off!
I now have to write much more 'vertical' because now the tip of the spen is quite flush with the rest of the pen.
I think I'm going to have to superglue something to the end, it's too blunt now.

plastic isn't going to scratch the screen. Otherwise, all the note 1's users would have been ripping their screens to shreds.
I am pretty sure s-pens are not cheap too. I wonder if I can get a new one under warranty somehow.
I don't even use the s-pen all that much, so I might just live with it.
- Frank
Shouldn't the S-Pen be covered by the same warranty the phone has? This site does say one year warranty: http://samsungfulfillment.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=69

Hrm. Now that you mention it - I never actually took a close look at the tip of the stylus before, so I have no idea if it was ever on there at all.
is it possible to replace the stylus/s-pen tip/nib?
does anyone know where I can get new ones?
mine is showing signs of wear.
I believe with the Note10" it comes with spare tips in the box. My note2 didn't come with spare tips.

The nib for the Note 2 s-pen is not replacable but if you have an s-pen for the Note 10.1 it will work with the Note 2 but will not fit into the Note 2 slot.
i bought one, made in china, less than $10

So, I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this yet, but there is another trinket of info that points to the book cover being actively sensed by this tablet. When poking around in settings, I happened across this little feature.

Man, Samsung does not make it easy. They need to support their products more. iPad 5 will have about a million accessories all over the place.

Samsung has had a terrible launch for its S-Note line. I've had my Note 3 for over a week and still no sign of official accessories anywhere whether in-store or at Amazon.
Same for the note 10.1 2014.
If you want to charge these high prices you better provide an apple-esque experience and that means no headaches for anything including finding accessories.

I was able to get a genuine S-View cover from Verizon, but only through telesales, not online or in the store.
Is that advertised anywhere? No.
Does Samsung's official site list any covers or cases? No.
They suck so bad at accessories. It's ridiculous.
Yeah Samsung's last few product launches have been the same, no accessories until a few weeks after.

I can confirm it does wake the tablet. I don't have the smart cover, but I do have a keyboard with a "smart cover"that turns it on and off. Placing it over the screen, or even on the back, trips the magnetometer, putting the tablet to sleep. Removing it wakes it up into a quick note/dashboard type of program.
I bought a sleeve that is actually for an iPad and daynote does work. It's not working every time but every now and again I'm presented with a special screen after removing the note from its sleeve.
Best Buy tells me it will be in stock this week. Either with their Monday shipment or Thursday shipment.
We'll see. Given that their Samsung Experience employees didn't even know it was releasing the week before it did, I don't put much stock into what they say.

Before you try any magnet cases, test if the digitizer survives it. i had one on my note 8.0 and it had a big impact on the wacom digitizer, when drawing i would get close to 10mm of offset or the area around the magnet didn't work at all. When i noticed this i immediately performed a little surgery and now the case is a dumb piece of leather. Luckily i noticed it pretty quickly so i got no permanent damage. I'm not sure if permanent damage CAN be done with such a weak magnet, but look out

Wow seriously? This kind of scares me as I am using the Moko case. But you know I don't think the Note 8.0 was made to be utilized with a magnet. Seeing that the Note 10.1 2014 is made to wake up with the use of a magnet, I think they made have designed it to be magnet friendly.
I could eb wrong, because I returned my Note 8.0
Yes, you might be right but look out. You dont want a tablet thats at a higher price because of something that breaks because of you not using a correct case.
Ps. In the second sentence "you" is meant for everyone and not to offend Slim

On the Note 3, the "View" cover uses a Hall effect sensor I have read.
What I noticed about this cover is that it seems to cover the camera when it is folded over the back??

Nope, they don't really know release dates on anything. I've been asking the Samsung guy about Note 3 cases, he tells me a day, and they never come in.
Was just over at BB today, asking him if they had the cases, when another lady came up and wanted to know also. WTF, is up with Samsung and the slow releases of these accessories for both Note 3 and 10.1??

Heh! Yeah you're right!
Here's what I was thinking when I said that.
The magnet can be on either side. So not necessarily on the cover. "Could" be steel on the cover, but probably not.
Like for instance, I am putting a hall sensor on a Motorcycle presently. The magnet is in the sensor itself. The trigger wheel is steel.
So steel goes through the field and causes the trigger.
But it seems that the magnet here "should" be on the cover. Otherwise all steel would trigger the sensor and screw with the display.
I did run a magnet near my screen and couldn't get it to switch even after fooling with the S-View settings.
So I damaged the button on the S-PEN while trying to calibrate its sensitivity with the potentiometer under it ,now its cracked in between and has fallen off ... lol
I am stuck with just an opening where the button existed (
Is there any one who can point me as to where I could get a replacement S-Pen for the Note 10.1 2014 in India or anywhere online.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Nice one mate I'd been looking everywhere for one of these.
I've just ordered one. I'm going to superglue it into a normal pen casing to make my own S-pen.
I bought the bamboo feel one but will be sending it back to amazon as the offset is massive. Makes it almost unusable.

Ha yeah I am serious - I'll have to work out how to do it so the button still works though...
I tried 2 of those tesco ones in the shop. Both had too much of an offset to be any good. My old Note 10.1 s-pen (got a spare) also has an offset on the new note. Looks like the proper s-pen is the only one that will work, hence the superglue idea...

Arses - I just checked their site and they have updated it with a note saying "Stock Expected Jan 2014", why couldn't they have put that on their site in the first place
I have the pen with eraser that I used on my old 10.1 IMO it's not as accurate as the new s-pen. The new one works a lot better. I hope they update it because I love that s-pen

Been reading up on both. does anyone have both? Also looking for a case to hold the pen. Looks like we are all waiting for a few places to come out with one that is good.
Excited to get mine. will be here on Thursday.
I don't have both, but the fold SPen is the perfect size in my opinion. I was expecting it to be approximately the same size as the note 20 ultra pen so I ordered the pro model as well. I've since canceled the pro pen order as the fold pen is perfect for what I need. I use it to make notes and navigate on the inner screen.
I own the Fold Edition s pen. I really don't need the added functionality of the Pro model pen on my Fold as I already own other s pen devices with said capabilities. Also, the size of the Pro pen doesn't seem right, doesn't seem comfortable to hold do to its length.
Here are my stylus pens for my Tab S7 Plus, Fold3, wife's Tab S6 and her N20U.
I have both. Was a mistake in ordering.
I only wanted the fold edition.
The pro is thicker and longer. More of a sit down and maybe draw vs the fold edition which is more portable to me.
The only added for the pro is bluetooth. But even when i had my note i never used the bluetooth parts.
I have the fold edition and am waiting on my pro to arrive. I use a ton of the Bluetooth features, along with the basics. I purchased the fold edition, only because the pro wasn't in sock at the places I looked. I will be returning the fold edition and case combo as soon as my pro arrives..
The S pen Pro is significantly larger than the Fold edition and will not fit in the case for Flip cover with the detachable Fold edition S pen
I have both S Pens and for the Fold 3 the simpler cheaper S Pen is fine. The Pro does not seem to have a smaller stylus size than the S Pen with Tab S7 + so not sure why one would want the Pro.
I got both just because they were "free" with credits. One for using at home (Pro), and the other for on the go (Fold Edition) my Fold Edition arrived with the TERRIBLE flip case, but I'm still waiting on my Pro.
I Have the pro... strangely enough it will not connect to my fold 3. (im using nova & Microsoft launchers with the screenscut down to 48 maxhz adaptive for battery)

I owned every Note from the Note 4 upwards - for the big screen, big storage and latest camera tech
- I never ever used the S Pen and never saw the point of it. RIP Samsung Note range.

I am often annoyed because the S-Pen Fold edition touches the screen, but nothing happens. I'm not even sure if this is on purpose by the software or a bug. Often happens with buttons, like the 4 buttons on top of the notification center (above the quick settings toggles)

It's difficult to explain. I can touch them too and they work, when you tap on it with the S-Pen "firmly", but if you just touch it without pressing it won't work lot of times for me. I don't know how to explain that easily. This just happens with some UI elements, that's why I kinda think that it's intentional. But I now this never happened with my Note 10+ and a "real" S-Pen
