SMS/MMS not working under GSIs [Moto G Stylus] - Treble-Enabled Device Questions and Answers

A few months ago I installed a Pixel Experience GSI based on Android 12. I loved the rom because I could get Android 12 and Material You, without waiting for Motorola to push out an update. But a big problem is that I can't get SMS/MMS working on my phone. Data and calling work but I can't use SMS/MMS or even RCS since that requires the SMS/MMS to verify my phone. I'm using an original moto g stylus from 2020 under Metro by T-Mobile. I've tried using different APN configurations, none of which fixed my issue or made it worse by breaking mobile data. How can I fix this and make it work?

[Q] WiFi Calling w/o Touchwiz?

It's been asked a billion times, but as of today - April 11, 2014 - is there ANY way - even with an app that I have to BUY/PURCHASE, that I can get WiFi calling to work on a non touchwiz based ROM?

There has always been APPS available to do so. Google Voice, and any VOIP provider. But they don't work with your original number. There is still currently no way to be able to use T-Mobile's WiFi Calling on any CM/AOSP ROM. It must really be a difficult thing to achieve.
Also, howdy neighbor.
Most of the apps that use Google Voice will stop working in the next few weeks too. Been waiting for Google Hangouts to release Wifi calling which should happen soon and make things much easier.

[Q] CM 12.1 Dialer Will Not Hang Up Calls

I installed CM12.1 on my d851 and I cannot disconnect calls. I tap the red button to hang up and the phone app hangs on "hanging up" but does not actually disconnect. Has anyone successfully gotten the CM12.1 dialer to work on the T-Mobile G3?
I have the same issue when I install other custom roms based on CM.
Any help would be appreciated.
Re: dialer will not hang up
Hi,
Did you ever work this out as I'm also having issues with CM
12.1 not hanging up on galaxy s3 Verizon.
Thanks
David
Having the same issue as well 2 i605 on cm 12.1 just switched from rip off VZW to T-Mobile and this bug started. Phones worked fine on Verizon... Can someone please get this fixed?
i don't have a solution for cm12.1 but maybe if i share the (quick) solution that was used in cm11, some smart person here can figure it out--hopefully, once and for all.
in cm11, all you had to do was add a single character to a field in build.prop, which was something like:
ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCall
to get:
ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCallU
in cm12.1, the rom is presumably already shipped with the correct settings:
ro.telephony.ril.config=newDriverCallU,newDialCode
but does not work (for those of us using sph-720, especially). someone who understands android can maybe port the old (and simple) fix to the new one(?)
also, i appreciate the work guys do to get us these builds, but it'd be nice not to reintroduce big issues like these as it basically forces a potential user not use the rom, which then wastes the hard work of porting it to a particular device in the first place. i can live without data since i use wifi heavily, but not being able to receive calls is a no-no.

How to Enable Wi-Fi Calling on the LG G3 on Candy5 Android 5.1.1 ROM

Hello, I would like to preface this post by saying I'm a complete noob to XDA Forums and custom ROMs as well. I've know about XDA Developers for years, just never been much of a tinkerer when it comes to Android, I just prefer stock.
Well recently, I bought a used LG G3 because the deal was just to good to pass up. It was my first time using a ROM other than stock and it was utterly disgusting in comparison. I hated it so much I installed my first ROM ever, and it was Candy5 for I heard CynogenMod stopped supporting the LG G3 is some capacity. Well, I've been using it for a while now and made it look as close as I could to stock, there's just one problem.
I recently enabled Wi-Fi calling on Ting. The device was a Verizon model, but I purchased it unlocked, and activated it on the MNVO Ting. Well, it wasn't working so I was wondering what's up. I read that you had to enable it within the devices settings, but all guides were not specific to the custom ROM I had installed, and even following along as closely as I could, the option for Wi-Fi calling wasn't there. I've read that if Wi-Fi calling doesn't appear, your device doesn't support it. But, everywhere I've read, has been consistent that Wi-Fi calling is supported on the LG G3.
So, I ask you long time tinkerers, do you know how to enable Wi-Fi calling within the Candy5 ROM? Does it just not support it? I even used the neat search feature within the settings app and couldn't find a switch for it. Please help!

Yeah WiFi calling won't be an option on AOSP ROMs... Its cooked into the stock software (for at least t mobile) and only works on stock based ROMs. There was a developer that tried to use the code from I BELIEVE the nexus 6 and adopt it to our devices but it never got pushed through. If you want WiFi calling/VolTE, stick with stock ROMs.

Ah, I see. Hopefully some day it would be available on custom ROMs. Using the stock ROM is not even worth the gloriousness of Wi-Fi calling, and that's really saying something, because my room is a complete dead zone for reception. I have to walk out on my porch every time I want to place / receive phones calls or SMS texts.

Yeah I completely feel your problem. Over at my house (which is in the maybe 10 minutes from the main bay area) there is NO reception, only when you walk down the street is there reception. When I was on Verizon I got their WiFi booster thing... Now that I'm on T mob, I use WiFi calling bakdd info their ROMS

Help! Wifi Tether Stopped Working!

I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure this out. I have an OP7T which has worked great for months. I've tried everything I can think of with no luck.
Here's the problem. About two weeks ago, the wifi hotspot just stopped passing data from the phone to connected devices, specifically my android head unit. The phone had taken an update to 10.0.13.HD65 around that same time, so I assume it could be related. During my troubleshooting, I factory reset the head unit, with no luck. Factory reset the phone, with no luck. Tried connecting to the hotspot on my Galaxy Tab, and it does the same as the head unit (connected, no internet).
I thought it may be a carrier problem, so I had my carrier (Straight Talk) re-provision the phone, still not working. Tried different APN settings, nothing. I confirmed its not a carrier issue by taking the SIM out of my OP7T and putting it in my old Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and it works fine. Hotspot works perfectly on the Xiaomi.
Then I tried using the MSM tool to flash the older 10.0.11 firmware on the phone, which still hasn't solved the problem. Everything works on the phone, except its just not allowing mobile data to passed to connected devices over the wifi-hotspot.
Does anyone have ANY suggestions or help? Please?! lol I'm going crazy!
Same problem with my OP7T.

I have had the exact same issues with my OnePlus 6T on Straight Talk. The built-in hotspot WiFi seems to work, but connected devices get no Internet. It used to work, but now it doesn't. Sometime in the last few months, it stopped working.
Here are things that have failed to fix the problem:
Changing to 2.4 GHz from 5 GHz in Hotspot settings.
Changing the APN type to add DUN
Changing from Straight Talk AT&T SIM to Straight Talk T-mobile SIM.
Changing from OnePlus 6T to OnePlus 8 Pro
Changing from Android 10 to Android 11
I can work around the issue with PDANet, but I would much rather use the phone's native hotspot capabilities. I suspect that OnePlus has accidentally broken this feature in recent updates as I have seen other OnePlus users complaining of the same issue on other forums in recent months.
Currently, this is a problem for me on OnePlus 8 Pro North America Oxygen OS 11.0.4.4.IN11AA and the current OnePlus 6T in North America. Problem exists on Straight Talk T-mobile and Straight Talk AT&T.

Question Can't receive SMS or calls when using 5G on PE+ GSI?

Hi, I flashed the latest PE+ GSI recently and have been pretty happy with it, but I'm having issues specifically with receiving SMSes and calls, only when I'm in 5G & connected to a 5G network (if I send an SMS/make a call it goes through fine on 5G). Mobile data works fine.
If I switch to either 3G or LTE, calls and messages can be received and sent as intended.
I have the dual-SIM model, SM-A528/DS.
I have "Automatically restart RSI" enabled under phh Treble settings.
I'm using the stock kernel, had updated to the latest OneUI 5.1 update before I switched over.
(don't think these should matter but just in case...)
I have TWRP installed.
I don't have Magisk installed (specifially had it installed for a bit, but uninstalled it to get my banking apps working - was facing this issue with Magisk installed before as well)
I'm passing SafetyNet as well as basic_integrity + device_integrity (not strong_integrity)
It's not a terrible deal-breaker, but I am still paying for 5G with my mobile plan and it's a bit of a shame to not be able to use it.
Is anyone else facing this issue? Any possible fixes I could try?
(advance apology if this would be better off under a different thread, I don't usually post on XDA - sorry!)
A bit off topic, but there should be a PE/LineageOS, and other Roms getting release quite soon on a52s, as the developer from A52 4G got this phone and the rom he's building only needs some small bug fixes, so GSI won't be necessary soon.

Same issue, different device, but on LTE, I cannot call, but I can text, but on 3G same thing. [Stock Kernel, One UI Core 4.0, A12 Nacho (A127F/DSN)]
