Hi gent's,
how to make my Xperia Arc S LT18i shutdown automatically 30 seconds after the USB charging cable is disconnected?
I want to use it as a car GPS permanently connected to the cigar lighter socket. I was able to make it turn on when the USB cable receives charge by deleting the file /system/bin/chargemon. But I also need it to shutdown when I turn off the car.
Check Tasker or Automate. Maybe you can create a rule to turn off the power when the vehicle is stationary, e.g. for a certain period of time.

I charge my EVO off of my laptop at work and I have noticed that periodically it will wake up and the little lightning bolt indicating that it is charging disappears. The phone will go back to sleep for about 60 seconds then wake back up and the charging icon will re-appear. Is this normal?
Check your charging cable. Have you dropped your phone while it was plugged in causing it to become unplugged? That happened to mine and now the terminals aren't stiff (yeah yeah that's what she said haha), so it will only charge if the plug is at an angle that causes the terminals to make contact with the upper portion of the slot.
If so, I haven't found any way to resolve that.
If not, can you provide some more details? Will it charge if it's plugged into the wall?

Charges fine when plugged into the wall. Phone have never been dropped. When I plug the USB cable in, I get the option for Charge Only, Disk Drive, etc and choose charge only. It will charge for a long while, then the screen will wake up and the charging icon will be gone, though the icon showing that the phone is connected via USB is still present. The phone will go to sleep that way then wake back up with the charging icon present again. It's very odd.
My phone has started doing something very similar only it is connecting as Disk Drive when I select Charge Only. When it does this, I have to switch it to Disk Drive, then back to Charge Only. Sometimes while its just sitting there charging, it disconnects (like yours is doing) and reconnects to Disk Drive again while Charge Only is selected. I have to repeat the steps above and its an endless cycle.
this could very well be an issue with your laptops USB chip/circuits and/or power profile.
Often times, your computer will try to power down unused components.
Depending on your laptops usb, windows and/or bios may be powering down the usb at which point your phone wakes up, attempts to reconnect (waking your laptops usb up), then starts charging again.
You might try going to your device manager > usb controllers > usb hubs > power management tab > uncheck 'allow computer to turn off this device to save power'.
I agree with it being the power save on the USB ports. You will need to uncheck the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" for each USB port. Keep in mind on newer desktops and laptops, that there can be eight or more of the selections available for you to uncheck.

I found out that the default setting for doubleTwist media player is to make it automatically set as a disk drive upon usb connection. This setting can be changed.
Anyone know where I can buy a USB cable to make the phone think its in car mode..?
If you dock the phone into a proper car dock it auto clicks it into car mode, if you plug it into the same power source with a normal cable it doesnt do the same thing. So it has to be a pin configuration in the dock/cable...?

You can config multiple tasks.
For example my setup:
-when connected it turns on bluetooth, wifi and gps.
-if it connects to my car stereo via bluetooth, it opens the gps app, and starts to play music
-if it connects to my home wifi, and is at night, it goes to silent mode
-when disconnected from power it turns everything to it previous state
Try to play around with settings, with the right configuration you wont ever need any kind of special dock again.
Ive been trying to get an Wireless Xbox 360 controller working on my GNex. If i plug in the wireless receiver it stays off unless i hold the sync, but turns off after a few seconds. One time i rebooted with it plugged in and i was able to navigate the home screen for a bit then it died. I tried plugging it into a powered USB Hub and it worked great and I was able to play several levels of Dead Trigger with no issues.
It seems like the usb port isn't putting out enough power for this.
HDMI over MHL also flickers and cuts out frequently, is this also do to some weird power fluctuation? I always turn off LTE before i use MHL as i read that that interfere but that doesn't fix it.
Anyone know about these two problems? Are they related as i suspect? Is my device just defective?
its turn on if it is plugged into the mains or laptop??
I changed the battery and no change.
and when it is on, i can disconnect it from the mains and it continues to function without problem.
i reset it for factory settings
if i turn it off, I have to plug it into the mains so that it turn on.
What is the problem ???
Have a P3XL that I'm I was going to load a custom image on. But I can't for the life of me get it to recognize having any form of usb data connection.
When I plug it in, it simply starts charging, no usb notification appears on the phone for adjusting the connection, the computer doesn't make a sound, nothing.
With the very same cable I can plug in a P6 and P3 and they will immediately be detected in the device manager.
I've tried messing with all the USB settings on the phone, turning them off, adjust the default use to File Transfer / etc... (note that none of this is from the usb notification, but the actual usb settings under preferences since it's unable to detect it's even attached!)
I'd had a couple issues with the port only charging sometimes so I bought a replacement charging assembly and installed that assuming that would make all my problems go away and while it definitely fixed the cable so it charges every time, it continues to refuse to be recognized as a device.
Does anyone have any ideas what would cause something like this and what might be wrong to cause it to not be recognized AT ALL (to re-iterate, the computer literally can't detect that a device was attached it's not doing anything, both with old and brand new charging port).
(One other quirk, not sure if it's related...The phone never actually stays off. If you power it down, it will power itself back on just a few seconds later. The power button itself isn't stuck and works perfectly for all the normal functions: tapping/holding etc.. And to be clear, it never shuts itself off randomly or anything like that, it's just if you hold the power button and choose "Power Off" it shuts down and then just reboots 2-3 seconds later)
