Hi. I've been trying to sign in to google chrome, Google apps, finishing the phone setup and adding a google account from settings. But everytime I try and sign in to Google the screen goes black. I'm getting a "checking info" screen the second the before everything goes black.
I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 (SM-A520F) running Lineage 18.1. I've manually installed OpenGapps (stock, ARM64, for android 11.0) and Swiftkey.
EDIT: I've also (before making this post) tried to clear Google Play caches, force stopped the app, rebooted the phone and tried again.
Anyone have a suggestion or solution to fixing this?
Thanks in advance.
Clean cache or disable and enable again
Thanks for the reponse.
Disble and enable what?
Clean cache from Google play or the phones cache from TWRP?
Yes

Somewhere along the way I have lost launching Google Search when swiping up from the home button. Not sure when it happened. I am running root, stock ROM. I am using Nova launcher, but I switched back to HTC Blinkfeed and that did not help. I had Xposed installed, but uninstalled and still no joy. When I swipe up from the home button, the arc with the magnifying glass appears, but nothing gets launched. Any ideas?
Did you by chance remove or disabled Google Search? Did you try clear cache, Force Stopping, clear data for Google Search?

Google Search installed and enabled. Followed your suggestions and tried Force Stopping, cleared cache, cleared data, no joy. Then uninstalled and let it update again. Still no joy.
Hi, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I decided to update Google Play Services on my G4 (android 6, stock rom) and since then, all Google apps (gmail, google keep, google play store,...) keep crashing.
I downloaded Google Play Services 8.7.03 on apkmirror and I chose the variant 440 (arm64 + arm, android 6.0+ and nodpi)
I can't deactivate or uninstall Google Play Services and I wish there is another option than restoring the entire phone...
Try a few different versions of Play Services?
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I've called a friend who also has a G4 (android 6) and asked him what is his version of Google Play Services. He has the 8.7.03 (variant: 440), the exact version I manually installed.
I saw on forums that I could try to delete my google accounts (which I did, but Google apps are still crashing and now I have a notification telling me I have to link the phone to a gmail account, but I can because Google Play Services crashes all the time).
I also tried to reboot, clear the app's data, uninstall all updates and reinstall the right version,... but still crashing.
I'll try one last time everything I've already tried and if it doesn't work, I'm afraid I'll have to reset to factory settings...
Can you just reflash the system partition and not touch user data? I think that might work.

Reflash? Do I need root for that? My phone is not rooted (but I was just wondering if there is a way to root the G4 under android 6 without touvhing the bootloader)
Update: I reset to factory settings, now I have to get everything back on the phone.
One advice: never manually install Google Play Services, I've read loads of people commenting that they had the same kind of trouble.
Even if you install the right version (the version I manually installed was the exact same than my friends')
Hey all,
So i recently updated to the last snapshot of CM13, works fine. However when i flash gapps i get the Wizardsetup stop working. For fix this one i allow all the permissions, however i get the google pplay services keep crashing. Any idea to solve this?
Edit:
So i think i fixed the problem:
first i picked the last OpenGapps (230816), flashed them, then booted the phone.
Then i got an message w/ setup wizard has stopped working, for this go to the notification bar, settings, apps, 3dots, system apps, setup wizard, permissions, and grant all the permissions.
When this has been fixed, u should do the same for google play services, and allow all the permissions.
Go back to TWRP, reflash the gapps package, wipe cache/dalvik, reboot, everything should work well

hello
I'm having trouble setting up my tab s.
After a factory reset, everytime I try to log in to my google account, google play services crashes and I can't setup my tablet.
Any ideas? I tried downloading the latest playstore apk, but no dice..
Thanks
Keep us posted cause I had the exact same problem. I factory reset and the Google stuff won't even pop up. I try to log into the play store and Google services crashes. I even flashed a fresh install with odin and the same thing happens. I did get it to work after updating with a ota. As soon as I did all the Google stuff was fine. I also have a back up so I rooted and and restored from the backup with flashier. I've searched and tried so many things and nothing else seemed to work.
So I'm on the latest firmware, fresh flash with magisk, flash kernel, and xposed installed. It was working fine before but now it showes only what is In the attached screenshots. I have force stopped and cleared data from playstore, play services and play framework, as well as removed my Gmail account and rebooted and re-added my account. But it won't fix itself. No magisk add-ons or xposed modules should have any affect on this.
I've used the market doctor feature of Titanium backup to repair market links in the past. You could try that

I had the same issue after I had to clear thev data of the Playstore.
For me, nothing helped: I tried to delete my Google account and set it up again, I installed the newest version of Playstore and Play services from APKMirror and I tried some combinations of this.
The only thing which solved the issue was a clean install. I won't mess with the Playstore again
I had the same issue and i tried literally everything. The only thing that solved it was a factory reset. Also keep in mind that since that occurred any of your actions are not backed up in Google.
Ti backup fixed my playstore links, no need to factory reset
You just have to get the play store to be certified. Here is a quick guide that I wrote myself. It has worked 10 out of 10 times for me as well as my friends. Hope this helps. ?
To get playstore back to being verified. Long press the Google play store icon. Go into app info. Clear data, and data cache. Also hit disable...it will ask you to revert back to factory settings. Hit yes. After that enable playstore again. Reboot the phone. Once you reboot the phone...let it sit for a minute or two for everything to load. After waiting...open up playstore and do not touch anything. Again wait a minute or two for it to register your device. I usually wait until my screen turns off which is a minute. After you waited long enough, check to see if you're verified. If you're not...you have to do the process over again (clear cache, data, disable, reboot, etc) Just make sure you wait long enough this time.

I'll be a monkeys uncle. That worked, thanks!
In my case tibu didn't do anything but I never tried the disable method. I'll keep that in mind in case I hit this wall again.
