So I'm on Android 13 beta everything for the most part is good... except YouTube goes to sleep while watching a video after 30secs (my screen timeout is set for 30sec). And Bluetooth is very iffy. Any suggestions( especially with YouTube ).
Thanks peeps.
have you tried vanced? (or any other alternatives to the official YT client)

Yup and funtouch os
Ok. It seems that if a screen lock is enabled, videos close out. No lock, videos play normally. How they fix this in the next beta update.

Using Chrome, if I a on a forum and someone has posted a message with a YouTube video I get a gray box that says plugIn is not supported.
If I go to the same post using Chrome on my Moto X the video starts playing as it should.
Any idea why and how I can fix if possible? Moto X is on 5.0 and Tab Pro is on 4.4.2.
Thanks
I think you have to install Flash manually: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installing-flash-player-android-devices.html
Why it works on your Moto X, I don't know. Adobe stopped supporting Flash on Android some time ago; and it likewise has not typically been included as a pre-installed plugin for sometime (or even available on the Play Store).

Still doesn't work, I remember trying this a while ago with no luck. Installed the latest version of flash player from Adobe site for 4.0 but video still doesn't play in chrome.
I've had better luck with flash on Dolphin browser. Google adobe flash for 4.4. There are plenty of downloads out there. I have not had success with the versions from the Adobe site (be sure to uninstall the one you downloaded from there) . Go into settings in dolphin browser and make sure the flash setting is Always On.

Like I said, I don't know if Chrome even support Flash anymore. As the above suggests, Dolphin browser does, and I believe Firefox as well.

Thanks, I remember having to setup Dolphin browser to watch amazon videos on my old tablet.
I just wish Chrome on my Tab Pro worked like Chrome on my Moto X, which does show the videos in the browser. So strange that it works on one but not the other.

When I go to the link on my tablet it says html5 will be used but if I go to site on my phone it says default player will be used.
Any idea how to change that setting on my tablet? Looking through chrome and YouTube app settings and I don't see anything.
Thanks!
Hello, since a month or so, when I try to watch a video in facebook or twitter app, they immediately stop playing, and there is no way to watch them. The same has always appened in periscope and twitch but until now facebook and twitter never had problems with videos. Youtube videos work fine as always, never had problem with it.
Does it happen to you too?
Any suggestions?
same issue here on fire os 4.6.3, cannot play videos on FB app. The video just plays for 1-2 sec and immediately stops jumping towards the end

I had the same problem on stock 4.6.3. I deleted Facebook and reinstalled it from Amazon app store, then restricted Facebook updating through Google play. Video in Facebook is working still.
anybody find a fix for this yet?

am running fire os 4.6.3 and have the same problem. uninstalled fb from google play store, but the fb on amazon app store is 'incompatible' with my phone (or so says the app store). any idea why that might be?
Can somebody upload the "incompatible" version of Facebook please and thank you..

Amazon has pulled Facebook from the app store. Can anybody post the last working Amazon App Store version of Facebook?
Interesting enough, Facebook is still working on my Kindle. So, I (in retrospect, stupidly) created a backup APK on the Kindle to install on my Fire Phone. When I tried to install it on my Fire Phone and got a parsing error. Will have to wait for a goodly soul here to upload the pre-update Amazon Fire Store version of Facebook...or for Amazon to fix the problem.

Older versions of Facebook can be found on APK Mirror. Here is a link to the most recent non alpha or beta version I could find that should work on the Fire Phone: Facebook 55.0.0.18.66 (Android 4.0.3+)

Thank you, thank you! The build you provided was too recent. So, I had to go all the way back to Facebook 45.0.0.36.146 (Android 4.0.3+) and video is working again! :good:
It seems that at the beginning of August last year there was an update to the Silk browser which broke video playback in many Fire tablets. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/cust...QQ7V&cdThread=Tx1NRB3LVTX30RF&cdPage=4&cdSort Could our issue be similar? The tablet issue was finally fixed. It appears that with Silk being the default, and part of the OS, it broke something system wide.

New update of Facebook is not working.
So I've seen a list of apps that currently support PIP I'm 8.0 and so far I haven't been able to get any of them to work. I tried Play Movies and then YouTube TV. Both didn't work. I know you need Red for YouTube, but as a subscriber to YouTube TV I would assume that's enough for that app to work.
Anyone else have this feature working for any of the supported apps?

Yes, was able to do it on my original Pixel and now also on my XL 2... You have to be subscribed to YouTube red and have the feature enabled to do picture in picture, with the XL 2 you can also zoom in/expand cropped YouTube videos to full screen. Make sure you have the latest version of the apps too.
You're pressing home correct? Backing out of YouTube has it play in the background.

I am pressing home. I've gotten it to work for Brave browser playing streaming video. But not YouTube TV. I don't have a subscription to YT Red but I am a subscriber to YT TV, so that app should work right? Or do I need to be a subscriber of both?

Hey all have a og pixel XL it's unlocked and rooted either stock kernel December update (8.1) I use vlc at work to watch and listen to downloaded videos I've been using it for months now with no issues. Now I recently noticed that all my videos stutter and hitch . I though it was because I went for 8.0 to 8.1 so I went back and it was still happening (even though in the past I had no issues)
Only way I can fix this is to disable hardware acceleration in vlc settings. But doing thumis makes my device warm and sucks battery (being that it's decoding HD video via software) this is driving me nuts. How can I fix this?
I downloaded the device driver binaries from Google but no idea how to install it. I though I could make sure they are all up to date but not sure how to go about that.

Has VLC been updated recently? it sounds like if it's happening on 8.0 and 8.1 and wasn't happening before ... it's likely an issue with the app itself and not the OS.

No, do NOT do that. that's not what those drivers are for - they are for developers, not end-users.
your firmware contains the drivers that you should be using / built for your firmware.

i could not find a past version of the app. well i did on apkmirror but the only non beta past app was from nov 28th i was looking for one from like october but only found beta versions. tried one of them. still doing it. i think it has something to do with 8.1. i would do a back up with twrp and just do a fresh install of 8.0 and see if it happens again but last time i tried making a twrp back up restoring from it failed.
You can download the older builds from the vlc website:

well, I did just try vlc. not sure what u are watching, but I used a couple 4k videos on my phone and 4k YouTube videos.... no issues. - but that may not be an best test; I'm not using the stock kernel...
I'd see if u can get someone who isn't running a non-stock setup to reproduce it....? maybe someone will read this and give it a test too...

i think i found the issue. i use the app arktube to download youtube videos the night before i go into work so i can listen and watch while on shift. in the app there is a setting to allow to download VP9 version of videos and i had it selected for some reason. those videos are the ones that are stuttering unless i disable hardware acceleration.
would you be able to test to see if VP9 content stutters on your pixel? the video i had was 2560x1440P VP9 youtube video here is the video i downloaded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33OZFYN_cQw&index=22&list=PL8mG-RkN2uTyuEutQa79RZ0Q5u5gteUci
i just got done flashing 7.1.2 and 8.0 with different versions of VLC each and still had the issues so i guess its because of VP9. which makes no sense being that i can view it fine from the youtube app at that setting but cant if i download it and play it via vlc?

However only 540P for netflix and 720P for disney+
Are you the same or this is because I download Rave from APKpure
better quality is not possible because of DRM protections, even if the Original Netflix app would work!
It's because chinese firmware.
