nAOSP ROM 7.x for Nexus 9
The purpose of this rom is to provide a rom not so far of the AOSP with some cool features (nAOSP means "near AOSP").
This rom was initialy made for Sony Xperia S, by @mickybart, big thanks to him.
I have first fork this rom to work on Nexus 7, and now I have added Nexus 9 to the build tree and succesfully build and run the ROM on flounder.

When updating ROM with the new build (dirty flash) gapps doesn't need to be reflashed (if they support addon.d).
Layers
Themes are supported with Substratum OMS theme engine.
This is not a CM Theme Engine so you can just use Substratum OMS themes.

Short message for now: I updated to the new Rom and all is fine
EDIT: I used opengapps this time (64 bit of course) and did not step up to using pixel launcher (as it looked worse on the N9 than the built in pixel-like launcher).
Also flashed in supersu and Xperia keyboard.
So these files were clean flashed:

Just clean flashed B03 and all runs like a charm. I am quite happy with this smooth ROM
Does it work for the LTE version? Mine is having 7.1.1 stock but the performance is very sluggish and even when I am not doing anything, only 30% to 35% Rams are free. Even the less demanding games crash every time after 30 mins of game play due to high memory usage. So planning to go for a Custom one.
Flashed another N9 with this ROM. I decided to flash along the new 64bit Delta Gapps this time, at:

That worked fine as I reported there. So looking forward to maybe new April goodies

In 7.1.2 google changed IWifiManager interface, which causes Setup Wizard force closes, if you are running clean flash.
There are few workarounds for this:
- After flashing nAOSP + gapps delete /system/priv-app/SetupWizard in twrp, then add Google account manually
- Flash only nAOSP, boot the system once, reboot to recovery, boot again, add Google account manually
(there are few others you can search xda forum for them)

I believe you can use that one.
I'm not updating vendor every month, still using 7.1.1 from January.

Setup wizard issue is fixed now. I have added the code to enable wifi before starting setup wizard to avoid enabling wifi from it.

I just flash B4 ROM, everything seem ok without error reported, but I reboot to system my n9 keep screen up

I found something Below.
After flash ROM zip file, it boot ok.
Then I come back to recovery mode to flash gapp ( I use arm 64 _ 7.1), after flashing something similar up.
I can't boot to system, alway is Android animation screen. How to I can use gapp?
Finally, i have solved the problem, thanks to millosr for your rom.

About xXx NoLimits
xXx NoLimits is a Magisk Module based ROM to enhance OnePlus 5/5T ROMs

xXx NoLimits is not a full Rom anymore as it was available until version 12.1, but it's a Magisk Module which works exactly like all my previous Roms except that it does not include any OOS Rom components like Firmware, System, Vendor partitions, the Kernel or Magisk. Therefore the size went down to about 250MB+. In combination with the OOS stock Rom it still provides you with all options you might have used already with my previous Rom versions. (Old full Rom versions are end of life but can still be found in the 2nd post)
As a Magisk Module running on top of the OOS stock rom, xXx NoLimits works 100% Systemless and provide you with plenty of options to be selectively installed with an aroma installer. This way you get most of the typical things you usually have to collect and install one by one all out of the box.

xXx System Tweaks
I added several tweaks on different levels to make the rom faster and snappy.
These tweaks also improve multitasking and maintain the system to be constantly fast.
6/8 GB RAM can (and should) hold a lot apps and services in the background. If you like apps to popup in virtual no time I recommend you to not close them when you change to another app but just put them to the background. Also, when speed is more important to you than window animations you can reduce the 3 Animation scale values in the developer options and select the AKT Burnout Kernel Profile.

Debloating
The rom provides you with the full range off not debloated at all (like OOS stock) to max debloated.
I also included a flash option to select Extreme Debloating. This will debloat the rom down close to a core Android level. You need to enable this option to take advantage of it.
The advantage of debloating is to gain even more speed and battery saving as less unused apps and services are running or even more free RAM to hold your favorite apps in background.
The downside is that you might miss certain apps or functionality but definitely nothing what will make your android unstable. All Google Apps are all available via Play Store as well.
Sound Enhancement
xXx NoLimits includes ViPER4AndroidFX by default unless you disable it in the flash options. I also included my favorite sound profile which you will love for sure as well. Otherwise select the full profile package as well.
Aroma based Installer
A folder called xXx will be create on your sdcard which will store a prop file called xXx.NoLimits.aroma.profile which stores all your setting made during your last xXx NoLimits ROM flash. Next time you flash the same or new version of the Rom you will be presented with the same selections again.
Another intelligence is that even I add new options, or reorder items, or even move items to other/new menus in future rom versions, it will still remember your previous selections.
Or choose the Fastlane mode which skips all selection screens and flash the Rom based on either default settings or your personal settings from your last selection session.
The first Aroma screen is already the Main Menu where you can select to walk through all available options.
Aroma Installer Color Codes
Blue = Indicates that this will open an additional screen with options
Red = Gives you a heads up to think twice if you want to change the option
Orange = Standard selection theme color

Why is there no dedicated xXx NoLimits version for this device?
xXx NoLimits follow an unified "one installer fits all" concept and even I currently own the OP8pro only, I still take care that NoLimits remains compatible with older OnePlus devices.
Even though, this is a hobby project and I try to keep my time investments low. Therefore, my main efforts are focused on my daily driver which is the OP8pro.
I still keep my xda thread open for older devices, so that users can still help each other in the respective NoLimits thread.

good to see you here as well What do mean with "3.5.0 stock"? I suppose you mean 4.5.0 right? But yes, if you are currently on OP5 stock you can easily dirty flash as this is the same OOS rom base.
regarding Arise, this rom, yes the latest Arise magnum opus us included.
Regarding kernels support. It's easy to use custom kernels anyway as they can be flashed anytime after the rom anyway and you don't have to wait for a new rom when new kernel version will be available. Therefore not sure yet if I will include custom kernels but I will always take care that the rom will support custom kernels.
Any known issues with arise? It's driver status is "abnormal" and also prompts to update the driver upon launch, which subsequently fails.

It's easy to use custom kernels anyway as they can be flashed anytime after the rom anyway and you don't have to wait for a new rom when new kernel version will be available. Therefore not sure yet if I will include custom kernels but I will always take care that the rom will support custom kernels.

Root your Oneplus 9 Pro (with Bootloader already unlocked)

2. First, enter the following command in the PowerShell/Terminal window to ensure that your PC can communicate with the phone over the fastboot interface.

The command should return your phone’s unique ID. In case it doesn’t, then make sure that you have the required USB drivers installed and restart your PC. You can also use TOOL ALL IN ONE, not officially updated to Oneplus 9 Pro but once install go to Others options and go to Install drivers.

For some reason, Since C63 OTA, some users have reported that on the option 1, the system rebooted byt itself after the OTA update which does not give then the option to install Magisk to the inactive slot after OTA.
If that happens, no worry just perform the Step 1 - Booting temporarily root described on "Root your Oneplus 9 Pro (with Bootloader already unlocked) Section.
Option 3: with incremental OTA Access (AA) :
Step 1 - Get back your original boot image1. open the Magisk Manager application, select “Uninstall”, and choose the “Restore Images” option. Magisk will restore your phone’s stock boot image that was backed up during the rooting process.
2. Now go to “Settings” → “System” → “System updates” and select “Download and Install Now” to install the OxygenOS OTA update on your rooted OnePlus 9 Pro
3. Open Magisk Manager
a. Select the Install option.
b. Use Install to inactive slot
Step 2 - Reboot and enjoy your device still rooted with latest OTA installed !
Troubleshooting questions :
Before reporting any trouble, follow the steps below in order to have GooglePlay certified, keep L1 Widevine & pass CTS :
Step 1 - Magisk Settings1. Once rooted, in Magisk setting, select MagiskHide and Systemless host
2. In MagiskHide select GMS, Netflix, Google Store & any application you may find sensitive to Magisk detection
For Netflix, go to Settings, Appplications & select Netflix:
a-force stop the app
b-clear cache and storage
c-hide the App in magisk
d-restart phone to recovery and clear cache
If you can't install/update Netflix install the latest Netflix from apkmirror manually (like any other apk file)
Hide everything under Google play services and store.:
3. Reboot
Step 2 - Clear cachesClear caches of Google Play Service & Play Store
Go to Settings, Applications & select Google Play Service, delete data
Go to Settings, Appplications & select Play Store, delete data
Step 3 - Clear cache from RecoveryReboot into Recovery and select wipe CACHE. Recovery boot to be activated from Settings/System/developpers options/advanced restart. Once in Recovery select WIPE & WIPE CACHE Only !

My device has Widevine L3, how to get back L1?
Downgrading to Oos 11 using MSM Tool.
Unlock bootloader and update system flash the first OOS 12 OTA provided by the system itself.
Then update to the latest F18 (for Global and Indian devices) or F72 (for EU device) OTA using FastbootEnhance. Widevine will back to L1.
Phone Bricked ? :
Five options (ranked from the easiest to tougher method):
Option 1 - Reboot to Safe mode & remove Magisk modules
Option A : Safe Mode
1. Hold power until it goes off
2. Boot and wait for the bootloader warning
3. Hold vol up and down until boot animation
4. Once it's booted just reboot again and you're done
Now on boot all magisk modules are disabled
Option B : thru adb command
1. Code with phone connected with USB debugging on (from developpers options):
"adb wait-for-device shell magisk --remove-modules"
2. reboot
Option 2 - Get back the original boot.imgIf your device can go to fastboot mode:
Flash back the original boot.img (w/o magisk) and reboot
Code once in fastboot mode:
"fastboot flash Original_boot.img" (use the "Original_boot.img" from the above zip file)
Change to the exact name "Original_boot.img" of the boot that has been posted in the above zip file
"fastboot reboot"
Option 3 - Flash back full OTA fileIf you can still go to Settings:
Flash back the OTA RUU full package and reboot
Option 4 - Change the active slotIf your device can go to fastboot mode:
"fastboot getvar current-slot"
This will tell you what (corrupted) slot you are currently booting from (either a or b).
Then just change to the other slot with the following command:
"fastboot --set-active=a"
or
"fastboot --set-active=b"
Then reboot with the command:
"fastboot reboot"
Option 5 - Wipe data in Recovery mode or fastboot commandOption A : If your device can still go to Recovery mode (ie thru fastboot mode: "fastboot reboot recovery")
From Recovery Wipe data and reboot
Option B :
Code once in fastboot mode:
"fastboot- w"
Option 6 - MSMIf none of the above works then go for MSM tool
Option 1 to 4 would normally not alter your personal data, applications and own set-up
Option 5 & 6 will wipe your personal data and applications
Return your phone to unlock and unroot? :Option 1 : Original Boot & relock with fastboot commandStep 1 - Restore orignal boot.imgOption A : Thru Magisk App
Open Magisk App on your phone. You will see the Uninstall button in the app. Just click on Uninstall button.
Then you need to click on Complete Uninstall. Your phone will be rebooted automatically.
Option B : Thru fastboot mode
Flash back the original boot.img (w/o magisk) and reboot
Code once in fastboot mode:
"fastboot flash Original_boot.img" (use the "Original_boot.img" from the above zip file)
Change to the exact name "Original_boot.img" of the boot that has been posted in the above zip file
"fastboot reboot"
Once booted, remove Magisk application
Option C : Flash the current or latest full OTA zip twice. Why twice, to ensure both slot have the latest update flashed with original boot.
Step 2 - Relock the bootloader1. Execute the following command to proceed for bootloader unlocking: "fastboot oem lock"
2. A verification window will appear on your mobile device asking to confirm the action. Just highlight “Relock Bootloader”using volume buttons and hit the power button to confirm.
3. The phone will initialize to relock the bootloader. It will take some time to reboot after resetting the whole phone into a locked stage.
4. Your device is now locked again !
Option 2 : MSM Tool MSM tool will relock your boaloader !
Option 1 & 2 will wipe your personal data and applications
Return your phone to OOS 11 (after installing OOS 12/13) ? :
How can I downgrade my device to OxygenOS 11?:
Doing so will WIPE YOUR DATA, you are strongly advised to back it up before.
Sideload local update APK : https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OPLocalUpdate_For_Android13.apk
Download one of the following downgrade files to go back to OxygenOS 11.2.8.8 (please take great care in selecting the region meant for your device) and move it to the root of your internal storage (where Downloads and DCIM directories are). Those files have been shared by OnePlus on previously linked OB 1 thread, and are directly linked here only for convenience.

You can download the EU stock boot.img that's in this thread (2nd post), download the latest magisk canary manager and patch that boot.img. Then you can temporarily gain root by rebooting to bootloader and booting that image ex. "fastboot boot boot.img"( your boot.img name will vary after patching). After the phone boots you can just go into magisk manager and do a "direct install" and that will patch your global boot.img to gain permanent root.

Ensure you guys patch your own boot.img, but you can use the EU boot.img linked in post #2 just fine on AA/Global/US variant.
Now to figure out how to pass CTS..

Are ya'll passing safety net? What am I missing? CTS profile doesn't pass but basic integrity does.
Would this be due to patching boot.img with the EU ROM, since I am on a global variant?
Only thing I can think of..

Nope, working just fine for me. Make sure you have system less host enabled. Perhaps that's why.
Weird, I just re tried the whole root process again and I’m still failing CTS. I think maybe I’ll just wait until global patched_boot.img is available until trying again as I can’t figure out what exactly I’m missing.

I think I figured it out. I was flashing boot.img instead of *booting* boot.img

I'm pretty sure that you'll be fine on whichever version your OP9 pro is on. From previous experience I've learned that if there is a major gap between firmware versions that you're temporarily booting and what's installed on the phone then you might run into issues, such as phone not booting the temp boot img or it will boot, but with no wifi ect.. Good thing it's just a temporary boot.. You can still do the direct install method and you should be fine.

Cool thanks. Even though there's no twrp I should still be able to get back to stock through fastboot or recovery presumably should anything actually go wrong.

I'm thinking since you flashed the EU boot instead of booting... You're most likely still on that EU boot.img. That could be causing your issues.
