Hi all,
I have been attracted towards smartwatches since the time they came. However, there are many reasons that I didn't buy any till today, money, technology and android user.
Although, now I am in the position of buying and I am aiming to buy a Samsung Galaxy watch. I have watched many reviews of that watch on youtube from big streamers to small. Also read many threads on the forum about it and it seems that there were issues with the initial firmware but after updates they were solved.
I am looking to buy the BT 46mm version.
Since this is my first SW and it costs a kidney (also I am a student), I had some concerns with it.
1. Does the battery stays for at least 3days (AOD off, BT and WiFi on)?
2. Can I install third party apps on it (getting apks from google wear store and installing on the phone)?
3. Connection with non-Samsung phones (I have OnePlus 5).
Thank you very much.
Have a great day.
This watch is not powered by Android Wear so I highly doubt that you will be able to get apk to install and run. I don't even know if there is a way to sideload apk onto the phone. Getting the watch to pair to your OnePlus should not be a problem. I am still thinking of buying this watch but the lack of available apps is definitely a turn off for me too. I am coming from a Moto 360.

Yes. Even more if you do not start training apps. They drain battery like hell
2. Can I install third party apps on it (getting apks from google wear store and installing on the phone)?
No. Watch is on Tizen system

This should not be a problem. The original watch mail app will not work for you - it works only with Samsung phones. You can act with mail notifications though.
Take in mind that as I heard Oneplus has some problems with BT connection - but I am not shure about that

Thank you very much the answers it will surely help me in deciding.
I have been a watch collector of high end mechanical watches all my life, and I was always laughing at people with black screen watches on their wrists, until my best friend bought one and started to explain me what he can do with the watch. I bought my Samsung Galaxy watch 4 LTE about 2 weeks ago and I think I only removed it from my wrist to charge it. It is unbelievable how much I became addicted to the practicality of the watch. I am looking at the screen hundreds of times a day, using navigation, reading texts, emails, setting timers, using fitness apps etc. I consider myself a power user, and lowest battery I reached was 26% by the end of the work day. ( watch is on my wrist usually from 8 am to 9 pm ) On weekends, with lighter use I get around 65% by the end of the day. So I still have to charge it every night, but that does not bother me. Included Samsung wireless charger charges them very quickly, I can't tell exactly, but it is fast ( maybe under 1.5 hr? ) My brightness is always set to full 10. ( there is levels from 1 to 10 ) It is true, fitness apps take most of the battery power, and Navigation is power drain, because I keep the screen ON all the time for directions (you can keep it black while driving and it can be turned ON only before the turns )
I would also love to have more apps available, especially apps from Nest and Ring, because I am checking that frequently. The phone my watch is paired to is Note 9. I do recommend, if you can afford it, to buy the LTE version.
dont get one if you are planning to use the HR monitor, it is still useless after 2 updates.
Hi
My Huawei Watch GT no longer monitors my heart rate. If I lift the watch a few mm from my hand it starts to monitor. Also does not record sleep. What is the problem with it?
Firmware version 1.0.9.6
Huawei GT green
Thank you
I'm looking for the best watch connected for my 7pro, I tried the Fossil Gen5 is good but ... I'm looking better, I'm watching for the Galaxy Watch active 2 (I would love to have feedback on this smartwatch)

I like Ticwatch products but the problem is they are on the old Snapdragon Wear2100 and it really starts to get old

The 4G version with the extra ram is super smooth. I wouldn't go for the regular Ticwatch Pro.
I have galaxy watch. I don't get notifications some time. Even removing battery optimisation didn't help. But I like anyway this watch. Because imo it is one of the most beautiful watch out there.
I had a Galaxy watch and loved it. But the Ticwatch pro 4G with dual display is an absolute joy. I love being able to see the time at all times without touching watch. The essential watch face is something all watches should have.
I love Ticwatch's products but I'm watching for the Galaxy active watch 2 which is on promo is there anyone there that has it and does it work well with the 7PRO?
I had a Fossil 4 and 5 gen on the 7pro and before a Galaxy Watch 46mm on the Note 9 (the Galaxy Watch was just awesome)

Watch active 2 works flawlessly with my 7 pro.
Battery life goes about 2 days with always on screen and constant stress/heart rate monitoring. So this would be max settings

Where'd you see that?
Fossil gen 4
I use fossil gen 4. It's wonderful.
Luv my Galaxy LTE 44mm Watch... works great with 1+Pro
I run a gear S3 and it works great. Galaxy watch was the successor, but almost no difference. Certainly the best performance of any smart watch on the market (except apple watch). It's a little thick, but battery is excellent and it does everything you could every want your watch to do. Would definitely recommend!
I have a 1 year old, so the ability to take phone calls on the watch is great!

Galaxy means loading Samsung Bloat. Will work best with Samsung devices only.
You will also not get Google Pay.
After years of trying watches... (Samsung Galaxy and otherwise) I landed on the
Fossil Gen 5 CarlyleKeep in mind...the battery life can be terrible unless you set it to Power Management mode that turns off the display when not being used. This turns off the screen till you touch it for view, notifications and otherwise, and Notifications and messages still come in, but won't show on display till you tap the screen saving Power.
Not sure the mode I'm set to, but rather have my watch running for 12 to 14 hours then usual Android OS 6 hours with everything active.
Hope this helps, Sorli...
Hi there. Just bought a Honor Magic Watch 2 42mm, coming from a Samsung Gear Sport.
Is there any way to edit sleep data?
It's happening that after my lady and I put the baby to sleep, and then go watch some netflix, the watch thinks I'm sleeping.
I get what it does cause I'm laying down with not much movement. So it's logical to think I'm sleeping. No perks with that. Just wanna edit the sleep data the next morning but there's no edit function/button that I could find.
Any ideas?
Cheers.
English is not my mother language.
No seconds hand in AOD mode anymore, after updating the watch.
I had purchased the Galaxy active 2 specifically so I had a watch with an always on moving seconds hand, and then Samsung removes the feature. Extremely disappointing! I spent more than $300 dollars in a smartwatch full compatible with my S9 and now I don't have something I had when I bought the watch. That is going backwards in functionality. I can not believe Samsung locked out that feature from watch face developers and now intentionally remove it from older models that supported it. The new updates should be adding features and not removing. Samsung should be creating a watch that doesn't need AOD anymore, but, no, they removed the most useful function for me. I work in the healthcare field and need ongoing access to active seconds hands or seconds digits throughout the day when monitoring patient's vitals.
I will not use this watch anymore. Does anybody know if there is another smartwatch with this function?
Sorry about the rant.
If that's the main reason you bought that watch for maybe you can downgrade to a previous firmware.
a moving minute/second hand on AOD could drain the battery faster. That is the probably the reason why that part is removed.
You could get a $5 watch with a seconds hand to wear on your other wrist.
Maybe a digital watch face with seconds....
