SM-A505U flash with SM-A505U1? - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

I have a Sprint SM - A505U that it is unlocked and I am using with T-Mobile.
It regularly freezes or reboots. I would like to flash it with a new ROM to see if that fixes it. Can I use a SM-A505U1 XAA rom or do I have to stay with a Sprint SM-A505U ?
Thank you

I've tried U1 on U before (s9+) but it was only possible using patched Odin. If you google it, it'll come up. Give it a try, I think it should work.

Thank you ShaDisNX255
I did use patched Odin and T-mobile U1 and it worked. Too early to say if it fixed the issues I had but it's good to know that I can use U1.

I need help, I don't know wtf I was thinking, my sprint s6 is on CPF4 and sim UnLocked, I was going to upgrade to PL3, with Odin, run CF-Auto Root Next, Then TWRP, Then Flash TDH-JR v1.0 .... I Ran CF-Autoroot First like a idiot, I'm rooted on CPF4, tried to go ahead and remain calm and used Flashify to Flash TWRP, only to get stock recovery and if it worked was going to stay on CPF4 and figure something out but, this phone is Sim Unlocked, and I'm starting to worrying I'm going to lose it
UPDATE: SOLVED , NOW ROCKIN DEBLOATED. JAH, ITS BADASS, INSTALLING BLACKED OUT EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW!!! QUESTIONS JUST ASK, OR ILL BE BACK TO TELL WHAT I DID WRONG
Ps: HAHA AND IM STILL UNLOCKED USING METROPCS
Did you get sorted out or do you still need help? Typically if you update an unlocked phone's firmware, you will be locked again and will need to unlock. Not what you want to hear, I am sure, but that is as much as I know on the topic.
not for me. I am using an unlocked S6 Sprint now outside US and have been updating firmware so many times, the phone wont be locked again UNLESS you change the CSC (SPR, XAS...).

Interesting and I did not know that. How would the OP know if it was safe to upgrade? Check that his current (or prior version, not sure where he is in the process) was SPR and then proceed to use a TAR that was the same?

Not necessary either.
I did tried to download different tar files of the same Sprint firmware version which are SPR, XAS,... and guess what? They are exactly the same, even every bit.
That means, OP could flash any csc tar file, as long as its for s6 sprint (g920p***** tar file). The phone stays unlocked still.
The only thing that locked my s6 back was when i used Samsung phone info app to change the CSC. The phone rebooted and locked. I had to unlocked it again and it costed me some bucks...
How did you unlock your phone?

Help installing Verizon Firmware on Unlocked SM-N975U1

So I have a SM-N975U1 (unlocked) from samsung. I want to install the stock Verizon firmware (VZW) on the phone. I downloaded the following https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g.../SM-N975U1/VZW/download/N975U1UEU1ASH4/286268
I installed the VZW firmware via Odin but oddly enough its still the XAA firmware. Not the stock VZW firmware I want. I want the full stock firmware. Verizon 4g icons, Bloat and all. Do I have to change the CSC on these newer models? Haven't done this since my note 8. I thought these stock firmwares were interchangeable? What did I do wrong?
Advice?
You have to download the verizon U version not the U1, I tried to do it and got stock on the activation screen

The steps are the same as the S8, Note 8, S9, Note 9, S10.
Use Samfirm tool to download the latest firmware files. You need to use model SM-N975U and region code is VZW for Verizon.
Then use patched ODIN 3.13.1_3b to install.
All other instructions can found by searching the Note 9 forums.

Ten minutes is a little long. It sometimes locks up. Reset and close out ODIN. Then set it back up. Do a factory reset from recovery mode and then immediately go to download mode and hit start.

I am not sure what a "Patched" oden others mentioned even is. I do not think I used that. I used SamFirm to download EVERYTHING I needed file wise. As for Odin. I got it from here https://odindownload.com/
I used these Settings in SamFirm
Model: SM-N975U (even though I am on the U1)
Region: VZW
Manual Box Checked
PDA: N975USQU1ASH4
CSC: N975UOYN1ASH4
Phone: N975USQU1ASH4
Make sure you use CSC file. Not Home CSC. Also install UserData. Then you should be all set :good:

Do you know does the unlocked version on Verizon work with sms over wifi? I'm not guessing it doesn't since my Pixel worked flawlessly at my desk in the basement at work. I assume I would need to flash the Verizon firmware as you have?
So I'm trying to decide which version on the 10+ to buy. Will I lose any features if I flashed a Verizon rom onto an unlocked 10+ ? Are there any benefits to having the unlocked vs carrier device? Thanks

And no, patched ODIN is not necessary when flashing carrier firmware, although it is necessary when flashing back to the U1 Firmware. I just use it for everything as it seems to cause less issues.
Hi, I have completed the following steps numerous times. I first wiped data and cache then installing the u1 firmware. My note 10 plus sm-nn975u was originally T-Mobile. I had placed a Spectrum sim inside before the flash. Once on U1 spectrum Charter APN settings show up and all works fine. However I wanted to flash to the CHA OR Charter Spectrum firmware. I wiped data and cache and flash. My phone then comes up with T-mobile start screen and bloat. Are the Charter files on Sam fakes or am I missing something. I am totally blind, so when the phone boots after flash it doesn't say its rebooting to apply carrier settings, it just boots on up to setup screen where I turn on voice for the blind and begin setting up. I even tried to reboot after flash with no sim and it says please insert sim but no reboot or prompt to reboot after sim installation.
I am using odin 3.13.1_3B. Please help.

i have the same device.. the N976V is verizon note 10 plus 5g.. its not the same as the U1 variants.. i assume the fail is a secure check fail? thats bcuz the U1 is signed with different keys..
so far all the 5g devices have been carrier specific models and firmware is not interchangeable between them
There is no SM-N975U in the list or when i type it in?

Help with flashing U1 firmware to my Verizon G960U

DetectiveTaco said:
I have a Verizon locked Galaxy S9 (G960U) and I want to remove all the carrier branding and crap since. With the US Snapdragon Samsung devices having the bootloader locked and preventing the ability to root or flash custom ROMs this is the only way I can get rid of the carrier branding garbage. Though there is so many firmwares and different versions of the G960U1 firmware that I don't know what to get. Or which version of Odin I need or what to do to flash using Odin. If anyone is willing to help and walk me through this process that would be amazing because there is no good detailed step by step guides or videos on YouTube on how to do it. Or they aren't recent.

get the patched Odin here
and the latest U1 firmware here
put the 4 files from the firmware in their respective spots, using CSC to factory reset the phone and HOME_CSC to flash the firmware without resetting.
let me know if youre not familiar with Odin enough to understand what im getting at

One last question, did your CSC change when you flashed the U1? My CSC before flashing was VZW/VZW/VZW and it's still VZW/VZW/VZW. In the phone info app it says my firmwares CSC code is XAA which is what it should be since I flashed the XAA G960U1. But then it says the active CSC code is VZW. Does this mean I will not receive the unlocked OTA updates from Samsung directly like I thought I would, and instead I will still receive the Verizon OTA updates instead. http://imgur.com/a/KgooKUR

it should still get updates for the OTA version. What happened is when you put the vzw card in, the firmware chose VZW since that was one of the available CSCs in the package. No worries man

DetectiveTaco said:
Or is it like because the CSC is Country/Region/Operator and VZW was a part of the multi CSC package but the firmware uses the XAA CSC code it will pull the updates from the XAA provider in this case that being Samsung.
I will probably wait until the next update for XAA devices is pushed and see if I receive it. And I'll either report back here or PM you if I receive the OTA for the next XAA G960U1 update

thats what i was driver after. the version of firmware you flashed contains several CSCs and the vzw one is what the phone latched on to. If you popped another sim in there thats within that csc list, itll probably do similar stuff with that
yeah, feel free to hit me up. if you pm me on here, i might not answer super fast, but ill eventually get to it lol

oh, forgot to address one of your previous questions. You can flash those files all you want, the nice part about them is that if youre flashing a new version on top of the old one, just flash the CSC_HOME and it will keep your phone exactly how it was but still apply the update. Its pretty sweet
.
DetectiveTaco said:
Yeah I flashed the regular CSC going from G960U to G960U1 because how it was a bigger transition and I didn't want to leave traces of Verizon crap.

ATT Firmware?

Quick easy question. I've been out of the game too long.
If I have the US unlocked Note 10+. It's a N975U1, and I want to use volte, the only way currently is to flash the ATT firmware files via odon correct? Could anyone point me to the files I would need?
If there is a way without a full firmware flash that would be awesome, but I dont think there is.
Thanks!

Soooooo usually you can flash the user data from the U firmware to achieve that. But I dont think it works on the latest but download Frija and type in N975U and for csc use USC and it will download the latest firmware for you. From there just flash in patched Odin 3.11.3B and preferably use the non Home csc to wipe your userdata so its clean.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't ATT about to release volte support because 3g calling is shutting down at the end of the uear?

+1 for me. Ive spent almost 2 years and 3 phones trying to get an answer to this. My note 8 had this problem, then my note 10+, then the replacement note 10+. At&t blames Samsung, then Samsung blames at&t, over and over and over. I even had a Samsung technician sit in on a 3 way call with an at&t technician for the better part of an hour. The last I heard was that at&t was petitioning samsung to fix something on their end because at&t shows that everything is up to date on my phone but its not. Im looking into Odin too because this is getting stupid.
At&t is horrible with OTA's. They work for some but for a lot of people it does not, and I am one of them. At&t has never been able to give me an answer as to why this happened on my Note 8..9..and 10+.
Odin is very easy. You dont have to use At&t firmware you can use any Snapdragon US firmware they are the same. Once its installed, it will provision to you sim. There are many threads that have the firmware needed or just us Frija to download the firmware. Once downloaded you need to extract the files. You will have BL..AP..CP..CSC...HOME_csc. You need to download the correct version of Odin to flash the firmware. Open Odin put device in download mode connect device. Once odin recognizes devices find where you extracted the firmware. In odin put BL in BL spot..AP in AP spot..CP in Cp spot. If you want to save data, put HOME_csc in CSC spot. If you want clean install put CSC in CSC spot as it will wipe device. Once you have everything where it should be click start and Odin will flash the firmware. Once complete Odin will say PASS at top left..boot time should take a few minutes. But remember if the firmware you flash has a higher bootloader you cant downgrade back to previous version.

So I can use a verizon csc and it will work on a att branded phone? Or is a generic one better?
Edit
Basically which one do you pick. I'm leaning towards a tmobile because it sounds like the included bloatware is smaller.
I have At&t device purchased at At&t. I have used USC..Tmobile..Verizon. The device will provision to your sim. If you dont want bloat just flash U1 firmware. But I think you will lose advanced features like wifi calling if you do. I cant remember if flashing a (U) csc with U1 firmware brings back advanced features. But prob just stick with 1 firmware until you have a understanding on how to do this...Good luck.

I actually went ahead and did this last night with the tmobile firmware and it was just as easy as you said. For whatever reason I didn't even get any bloatware. It booted up with the at&t logo and sound, and my software version says att/att/att. I put my sim card back in and there were no special notifications or anything, everything just worked. I wonder if Frija gave me the att firmware despite me putting in tmb? Either way, everything is up to day now. Thanks for the help!
Anytime my friend glad it all worked out[emoji106]

Hi I have the same problem. I flashed android 10 One UI 2.0 on my Exynos Note10+ SM-N975F last December via Odin and download the firmware from Samfrew(like Sammobile).(the firmware is the German version and I bought my phone from Egypt) Since then I didn't receive any security patch updates I only have the December 2019 one. Will it be safe if I download the latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it; the file in over 5GB , can this overwrite? I never tried to flash the same software two times. Is it safe?
As long as you are using the firmware that is for your device and your region you should be fine. Although this is Snapdragon thread I would think International flashing is same. You may want to double check in your device specific thread as I don't want to be the blame if there is something different with F version.
