Question Can debloat actually cause more drain??? - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3

I have a question, can debloating the phone actually cause more battery drain if certain app calls for other and can´t find it?
I´m quite worried about it so i´m attaching list of my deleted apps. If there is some recommendation on what i should not have removed or should have removed feel free to tell.
It´s my first Samsung in a while so i want to have it set perfectly thank you.

There are a ton of safe lists of apps to debloat, if it wasn't safe to remove it wouldn't be on those lists. I recommend using adb app control on windows and let it auto debloat the phone by itself. Several levels of debloating available, your choice, and you can go through and un select any app that you don't want removed.

OH ok, i´m just worried that i saw few users complaining about actually getting higher drain when they for example removed Bixby stuff

Need help in removing some system services after root

Hi,
I have already unlocked and rooted my HTC 10 recently (Maximus HD rom) and used 3rd party app to remove bloatware apps.
However I have to decide whether I should remove the following services in which some of them are in memory and draining battery as well.
com.android.statementservice (Inten Filter Verification service)
com.htc.CustomizationSetup
com.htc.customizationsettings
com.htc.htccompressviewer
com.google.android.packageinstaller
com.htc.provider.defaultimeprovider
com.quicinc.cne.CNEService
com.android.externalstorage
com.htc.framework resouce
com.android.inputdevices
com.htc.china.location.service
org.codeaurora.ims
com.android.pacprocessor
com.htc.power_caoffload
com.android.proxyhandler
Please help me and let me know the ones I should remove safely without causing any serious issue.
thanks

I'd like to know this too!
just when apps are in memory does not mean they drain battery.
And to your question: From what I see the most I know are NOT safe to remove.
You'll end up in force closes, wont be able to install apks anymore, removing com.htc.customizationsettings could even cause your device not to boot anymore.

Honestly, I wouldn't remove any of these. Once you've killed Facebook, there is very little to gain from
deleting stuff. When you're 100% stock, you can see in "Apps" which apps can be disabled. The ones that can be disabled can usually be deleted if you desire. The ones with "Disable" greyed out should be left alone.
Keep in mind that the OP also later posted a thread about having problems due to removing some essential process application. Nice lesson to others wanting to do the same
Wait, Wut?

...Please explain this statement. I'm sure the memory in question is like most RAM & is thus volatile, meaning it requires energy(from battery) to maintain/keep the data there, so how can anyone say that such does not drain battery?
Many Thanks! ^_^

Disable Google Play Services Without Root?

I'm thinking about xz2c as my next phone! I'm super keen on the camera so I'm mulling over the idea of sticking with stock instead of rooting. The only real gotcha being that I usually dump all the google play/services/apps/etc which may or may not be possible without root. It seems as if it is up to manufacturer discretion. For example, on the blackberry keyone it was, but on the s9 it is not.
Would someone be good enough to see if the store, play services, and whatnot can be disabled?
Cheers!

Am very interested in ability to do this with all Sony phones. Is there a easy way to disable play services?
if you know the package name, you can uninstall any app with this command : adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 packagename

I know the command but didn't realize it could be used for system apps on a non-rooted phone. Seems like a really serious security oversight right?

for sure if you disable the wrong system apps you can make your phone unstable/not bootable
system is not writeable, so if you have a problem, reset the phone and retry

Google replaced HiBoard

Greets All,
I wanted to know has anyone been able to replace HiBoard with anything on the first screen? Here's the reason why I ask, I removed All the Chinese apks from my AL00, and Hiboard was one of them, and after swiping right wouldn't bring that screen up obviously since Hiboard was uninstalled, then today I swiped right accidentally and found google replaced the first screen that originally didnt work because of hiboard being removed. So I was curious has anyone done this intentionally, and if so how just so I have record of it and if I ever reset the phone I know what to do
Love the idea that Google news replaced HiBoard and I have no freaking clue how I did it LOL

yes I did mine too on my mate 20 X
Great, now can anyone tell me how? Cause I dont remember, which was the main reason for the post.
I was able to replace HiBoard with Google feeds....... here is how:
I uninstalled the default Huawei launcher (via ADB) and installed Nova... I did not like the Nova experience at all due to losing all the EMUI gestures additionally Nova launcher is not optimised for the full notched screen....so to get Huawei Home launcher back I had to do a factory reset... should have done this when I received the phone! ... at any rate I used adb shell to uninstall the below which enabled Google feeds on right swipe from home page (after restart)... and "ok google" works on any homescreen. (Of course you need to have installed the google apps also )
# pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.intelligent (hiboard)
# pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.search (hiSearch)
# pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.vassistant
One more reason to not rebrand AL00!
Great! Worked for my EVR-L29!
Thank you very much for that hint.

Nope. The OP was talking about HiBoard on the AL00 which is typically riddled with Chinese feeds. The main reason I would rebrand it is to have better control of language but then the AL00 already can have unlocked bootloader and will likely be rootable so more possibility to play! So I'm leaning towards not rebranding if it becomes possible. But I get your point.

Nope, uninstalling hiboard only will remove the chinese based feeds, but right swipe on the main homescreen (and downward swipes on other homescreens) will bring up the Huawei search screen.

Google feed worked out of the box one the C432. HiBoard is not installed on device.
On AL00 Google feed works fine with Nova as launcher and Nova companion installed.

No need. Just remove HiBoard + install Google to enable it.
I can now speak "Ok Google" to do anything like L29 version
Edit: can only say Ok Google at Home screen.

I use Mate 10 lite. Just froze Hiboard app with Titanium Backup and the Google Feed got enabled in the Launcher setting menu. Did a restart and now Google Feed replaced Hiboard completely.

Must have apps / setup / debloat / nova launcher / video presentation etc

I found very cheap this phone 400₡ from previous buyer almost new (1-2 days use). For those money is fantastic.
Those all works in all s20 line of Samsung (galaxy s20, s20plus, s20ultra, note 10, note 10+ and other Samsung phones
Subscribe for support in my channel if you like.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGiItteDcfw
Sorry for the quality of the video (I used a note 8 for video recording. Perhaps it was to close..)
This is galaxy s10 lite 8 giga ram.
Phone is lite only in name. It is actually faster than s20 galaxy line with exynos, and have much better battery due to snapdragon versus exynos and probably due to lower resolutio . You can search other video in YouTube if you don't believe it..
I know it is very strange for such a cheaper phone.
**Fingerprint sensor accuracy :
I use a screen tempered glass screen protector very bad quality .It is not for this phone, it is for galaxy A70. Although the bad quality of the tempered glass (its probably plastic ) which made very difficult to add fingerprint, as you see in video is very fast and accurate.
I added 3 times the same finger. It helps alot. Also in settings check the option in settings: Display: Increase screen sensitivity.
**Setup / transition effects / Display size :
I use nova launcher, Google companion, crios x icon pack (iPhone like).
I have enabled developers option and change transition effects to 0.5
Samsung give 3 options 0 , 0.5 , 1 (1 is default but I suggest 0.5 which is the standard for almost every other phone, except Samsung.
I prefer even lower transition effects, but not 0. In this video I have set 0.2 transition effect although you see 0.5
Anyone who want to do this (it works in all Samsung phones), must use connection with pc, adb (Google it) and use this commands from the pc:
adb shell
settings put global window_animation_scale 0.2
settings put global transition_animation_scale 0.2
settings put global animator_duration_scale 0.2
I also have change in developer option as you see in video: Size from 411 (default for this phone) to 492 (everything goes smaller in screen including the ui, not only fonts).
**Debloating:
-Also I have debloated the phone by using package disabler from playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kinder.pksafety
and freeze all those apps & services which I don't use:
This is my list, you can download and load to package disabler from : import from xml choice .
Warnings : You must already have installed another launcher (for example nova) before trying.
This list can be used only as a base, because everyone is using different things, so must freeze different services. Anyway this list has been tried to many Samsung phones without problem, but you do it (if) in your own risk. After you load it, you can add, or delete services:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jq9lrioawu3yx0v/178 from disabledpackages.xml?dl=0
. ** Other:
- I use Granular Immersive Mode (playstore app, needs adb also) to change how every app (you can select to use it only to apps you want) is displayed.
In Facebook you see in the video, you see the hole of the camera inside Facebook display . As in youtube. Most apps just display black bar when is camera , so you loose screen . You don't have really full screen. Anyway , this app can do this but for very few apps, like Facebook for example.
But have other options useful . Eg hide statusbar , softkey per app etc.
- In android 10 Samsung has made battery statistics (eg screen on time) very confusing . It meters per day and not when you unplug phone from charger.
If you want the old measurement (screen on time from when unplugged ) use from playstore
Gsam battery monitor pro. (If you want more statistics , per app battery consumption etc, this app also needs adb).
- Also in video you see the app sideactions from playstore (adb needed also..). It is bxactions for phones without Bixby button. With this I use double press power button as back key.
Also in screen on, lockscreen I use volume up/down to change songs.
You can set many other, flashlight etc.
- You don't see in the video but another must have application (playstore) is aodNotify.
Phone doesn't have a notification led, so this app uses a ring in camera to light when you have a notification . You can setup in which apps you want to work. I have setup it only for Facebook messenger phone calls and SMS.
It consume very little power as it can work without AOD.
- My record screen on time until now. Very impressive :
1 hour 40 minutes screen on time , and 90% battery..
I had almost 11 hours screen on time per day.. (Thanks norovirus for this, and all day staying home).
Lite usage: Facebook , youtube, internet browsing, in wifi.

Galaxy s10 lite vs s20
https://youtu.be/tcWkqollBXc
In the video you see s10 lite is faster than s20.
The same for s20, s20 plus, s20 ultra, as they have the same hardware.
Only in camera s20 line are better.
Also battery much better in s10 lite..
Which is the real lite here?
But if you compare s10 lite vs s20 snapdragon 865 version, then the s20 is faster.
Exynos is not good at all..

I would like to add the Good Lock app to the list, it's a must have app, with it you can customize a lot of things on one ui like the task changer, navbar, quickpanel, one hand mode...
Edit: it's a no-root app, developed by samsung itself

I don't believe it.. This is not the reason for leaving from playstore.
Package disabler stopped working for me after the update to android 11. I used another free app for this, it is very good :
Alliance Shield [Device Owner] - Apps on Google Play
Device Manager & Security Settings for Businesses
play.google.com
You can copy past your list of the disabled apps in xml file tha package disabler load, then edit xml file of shieldx app and past the same list here. Just keep some lines at star, you will understand if you edit.
Then load this list to shieldx, working.. Also has a adblock etc.
You just have to register for free to use this app.

Well, the above app for disabling doesn't work anymore. There isn't any free app. Only paid, and most of them doesn't work very well.
I now disabling by using pc and this free app:
[TOOL] ADB AppControl 1.8.0 🚀 Ultimate App Manager & Debloat Tool + Tweaks
ADB AppControl 🚀 Root is not required. Works with any Android device. Can do almost everything you dreamed about with applications. ADB AppControl - the desktop program, that will allow you to easily manage applications on your android device...
forum.xda-developers.com
You can load xml files to disable, you can save your current disabled list etc.
You must modify abit my list to load it with this app. First disable 2 apps, save this small disabled list, open it with notepad to see that it is just a simple list with the names of the disabled apps. You can then copy from my list the names of disabled app, and past the names to the list of this program. If you load this final list, in this pc app, you will see that all apps of the list have been checked. You can then press the button to disable them. The same for enable them.
It's very easy, powerful and free.
Otherwise you must download one of the paid apps from playstore for disabling. But every a few months they stop working and developers ask for paying again.
***I have to note this: After disabling the apps of my list, in every android update, i loose internet data connection. If you enable the list of apps again, problem solved. After disabling again all the apps of the list, there is no problem. Internet data is working. I don't know why this is happening but started after Android 11, even in monthly security updates. It happens with all disabling apps, in many phones. (Many had emailed me for this, so it's not only my phone, my list, or my disabling apps).
Anyway its one minute solution. I just informe you so to know why this is happening and the solution.

This is my current list in android 11. You can add more but i use this for now. Just copy past it in a notepad and load it with app control.
I dont know how much battery i gain. Not very much i believe (because samsung system for battery saving already works fine, its not like some years a go) ,but there is a better smoothness and better stability of battery consumption. Every day battery last same time, most of the days.

Samsung might start putting ads into One UI

You think this will happen? because those days will be the final days for Samsung.
Doubt it, and it seems that rumour came from a mistranslated joke.

If Samsung start putting ads in OneUI, I’ll be saying toodleloo!
Fake

But just to be sure: The Moment Samsung does this, I am gone.
Flagship buyer, min once a year, some years twice. Samsung Shop, preorder. Phones, Tabs, Watches.
Samsung: If you do that, you are dead.
Not like this, but I started getting ads in Samsung Music today. I am seriously considering flashing now (tho I had held off for samsung pay / camera)
What is this ad you speak of?
Is it like a button on my calculator?
I already have ads in the weather app
Latest weather app version

Ads are location based and have been seen only in few countries, never got them in any samsung stock apps.

Maybe but Samsung Australia say they don't put ads in apps. Yet there they are.
Anyone not using an adblocker in 2020 is mad, whether or not you feel ads should not be shown on your expensive phone is neither here nor there, they are there, install an adblocker or live with them, you don't even need root for blocking ads now

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to stop the advertisement in samsung weather. I am runnin adblocker, also tried samsung disconnect pro and i am also using dns.adguard.com in private DNS settings. The advertisement is still persistent.

Then stop using the affected apps.
If it gets worse or there is no workaround then people should vote with their wallet and stop supporting these companies.
Samsung weather? Never heard of it!
Now the dialer or phone menu, OTOH, if those start showing ads, that's pure blasphemy! And (Samsung) will pay dearly for that crap!

Not easy to stop using built in system apps.
Samsung weather is the built-in weather app.

Ads appear in the middle and bottom regardless of what blocker is running.

I actually use uninstall --user 0 which i did infact remove the weather app a few weeks ago, however i reinstalled a few days ago as samsung assured me that the latest update did not have ads,but it does.
But some apps should they start receiving advertisements like the weather did, dialer ect really can't be removed. Sure you can use a modded google dialer, but at the expense of spam protection. And there maybe third party spam protection apps, but why go to this trouble when the default built-in apps should be ad free.
