On my 6.1 plus running android Pie, connecting my bluetooth headphones that supports AAC doesn't seem to work.
In the bluetooth device options, the HD Audio: AAC is shown and enabled after the initial pairing, but disappears after reconnecting.
In addition, the codec in use as shown in developer options shows SBC and refuses to change to AAC.
And poweramp also says it's using SBC.
I know my bluetooth headphones do support AAC because on another device, that was the codec in use.
Is anyone else having this issue?

On my Moto X4 also have this same problem after upgrading to Android 9
I tried with my Nokia 6.1, it connects and keep the connection as AAC with a Sony XB40 and a Pioneer NEX5200, at every connection. However the Sony supports LDAC, and even if the ldac libraries are on the phone, it only uses AAC
Bluetooth on pie is 100% f**ked. Google broke it after the first beta release. It affects all devices, including their flagship pixel line.
Flash an 8.1 rom or get an iPhone. That's your options unfortunately.
After updating to Pie bluetooth audio turns useless because only for 10~30sec the audio is continous. after that short period harsh interruptions begin to happen until the audio stops. all this sequence in less than 1min.
my headset is JBL DUET Mini and work fine in other devices.. I verified this problem with spotify and YouTube.
I tried to change bluetooth audio setup in developer options but remains the same.
Anyone having the same issue? Any idea?
Thank you!
I've had the same issue in Oreo, and now in Pie. Though it's never gotten to the point where it stops; it just continues, horribly, 'til I stop it myself.
Tested with Vanilla Music, streaming via Bluetooth to an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and an Amazon Basics Bluetooth speaker. (jeez, never realised how much Amazon stuff I have lol)
Bluetooth is horribly broken on pie and its interferes with WiFi.
There is a new update for pie, can you check if it is still broken?
Poor playback to Anker portable bluetooth (4.0) speaker with crackling / stuttering noise interference when initiated from A2 Lite. Works fine from Laptop to Bluetooth speaker (A2 Lite disconnected), but v. poor from A2 Lite to speaker. NB. Same digital media.
Suspect Bluetooth problem with A2 Lite Pie 9.0 (OTA) version. V10.0.2.0.PDLMIFJ
Could be a CODEC issue?
Developer options show :
AVRCP 1.4 (Default)
Bluetooth audio codec streaming:SBC
audio sample rate: 44.1 khz
Audio bits per sample: 16 bits
Audio channel mode: Stereo
Playback quality: Best effort (adaptive bit rate)
updated: experiencing same issue when using Ausdom M04 Bluetooth headpones with A2 Lite

Newer than V10.0.2.0?
Bluetooth (audio streaming issue, lack of codecs) & WiFi (IPv6) is still broken.

Sorry i thought that there was a newer one.
I reverted back to oreo to fix my problems. My original post is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...pie-update-t3883829/post78532365#post78532365
AAC codec was removed in PIe, leaving only the low quality/high latency SBC codec. Hopefully the next update includes AAC as it is absolute bare minimum for a 2018 phone of this caliber.

All codes were removed except that low quality low bandwidth sbc codec, it is reall low bandwidth broadcasting so you with have a lot of lag with Bluetooth, the aptx magisk module works but, you have to use Bluetooth headset for music, no loudspeaker or headphone jack will output music streams. I'm sure PIE is just a stable beta so hopefully the final version should qualcoms codec.
I also having this issue even already upgraded to:
Android version 9
Android security patch level January 5, 2019
Baseband version 953_GEN_PACK-1.182577.1.184854.2,953_GEN_PACK-1.182577.1.184854.2
Kernel version 3.18.120-perf-g783cd9f#1 Mon Jan 14 16:08:26 WIB 2019
Build number PKQ1.180917.001.10.0.3.0.PDLMIXM
Very annoying!
Previously on Oreo doesn't have this issue!

That's bad to hear
I hoped that the january update would fix this bug.
I think, I will remain on Oreo till they fix it
Noticed a number of Bluetooth bugs logged with Google regarding Pie.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues?q=bluetooth
Someone raised the A2 Lite issue, but it was rejected, saying it was up to xiaomi to sort.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/122369751
Just wondering if it could be a hardware issue, e.g. wifi and bluetooth using same frequency on same ariel and interrupting each other?
They (google) do seem to have assigned the SBC codec issue for investigation so that is positive.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/123179438
Had the same problem and went back to oreo.
Now everything works fine.
Ive repacked the aptx module in magisk, and bluetooth works loads better. i do get the odd jump where the equalizer switches on and off due to system optimizing, apart from that, all good. If anyone want to try heres link to the repack, with thanks to those who made the previous modules. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqlJY73bUA7rholXS82XCuculBPhag . Use at own risk. Also, im not responsible for the link name lol.

How do you install und uninstall it? I've got breakups all the time when playing music from my a2 lite to the car stereo via bluetooth. Will using this codec fix the issue?

You need magisk v18, goto modules and click the plus sign, navigate to where the module is located and click on module, magisk will install it. Im not sure if it will fix issue but i can tell you thats it performs better and less latency than sbc.

After installing january 5 update, the problem persist at the same way.
I have noticed in some situations that audio stay OK. For example, while at work, in my desktop using BT audio w/my headset, everything is ok. But if someone pass nearby my place, audio start working bad until the person went far enough. I think other devices BT affects audio, or antother type of EM signals, like WiFi, maybe...
I wish i could turn off "always visible" option in my device to test it. But that option is missed in PIE
I have the same problem
Hi everyone!
When connect my phone to car radio pioneer mvh-s300bt via Bluetooth phone set automatically sbc codec. I have latest radio firmware, so AAC worked correctly on android 8.1. After update to 9.0 work only with SBC. When i try change it in developer options, setting are constantly return to SBC codec. I feel different between this codec and it is little annoying for my ears.
Please, help how can i fix it.
Of course, xiaomi developers doesn't read any notification from users, so i must do it on one's own.
Thanks for help.
No solution so far, afaik.
Facing the same problem, Mercedes 2019 and Volvo 2019 both default to SBC.
YouTube is out of sync when streaming via A2DP, video is lagging, audio working fine.
Stock MIUI 8.1 was even worse, playback was slow and distorted.
Hi, is there any possible way to increase sound quality over bleutooth? I always stream music from deezer to my car stereo over bluetooth, but on MI9SE sound is too flat and little bit buzzy...
tried to change codec and others in developer set. but it does not work.

I am using it and it's fine. Music gets transmitted digitally via bluetooth, so either your car bt adapter is old or broken. I am using different bt devices with sbc and apt-x and all work fine. Xiaomi.eu weekly rom
so maybe my device have some bug, because when i connect honor 10 or galaxy s9 sound is rich and clear...
i am using lastest xiaomi.eu stable rom and car is Fiat 500X with built-in nav...
Hello everyone.
Since 2 months I know have this "strange" phenomenon that when I connect my Realme 6 Pro to my Bluetooth sound device of my choice, for the first few times connecting there are only popping/cracking noise sounds coming out. No music or anything relatable. After connecting around 5-10 times, it finally will play music (also it suddenly goes back to the cracking state when clicking around in youtube).
Bonus: most of the time (even if connected right and playing music) the microphone wont work in calls.
I cant fix this sh*t and it really bothers me a lot lately.
Hopefully someone can help, or else I´m going to throw this phone into the trash can... xD
Greetings.
My BT works fine for the most part, but sometimes it breaks up. I am really hoping it's just a software issue
Me too, for about 2 or 3 months now. Wasn't a problem before. Thinking I'll try factory reset soon, see if that fixes it.
Hey! I also have this problem and what i found is, if your Bluetooth audio support Aptx codec, it will enable option "Use High Quality Audio" in your audio bluetooth settings. Try to disable (it will use SBC Codec) and my problem disappear.
But, it really annoying. I already try my bluetooth audio with another phone and it worked fine with Aptx, so i know my bluetooth audio is not my problem. My workaround so far are disable high quality audio, then enable Aptx manually in developer options with AVCRP 1.6
Not sure if my device actually using SBC codec or Aptx after change it manually on developer options
Hi All! I solved problems with Bluetooth by switch off Dolby Atmos!
