So, my Galaxy A32 decided to go for a swim a couple days ago, and it has been showing some problems after that.
I dropped it on my sink, just clear water, quickly retrieved it and turned off, waited 24 hours to try and turn it on.
When I turn it on, some time after I unlock it for the first time, it says the temperature is too high and it must turn off to cool down, but it usually happens 2 minutes after the unlock and the phone isn't hot.
I've used CPU-Z to check the temperature too, and the battery temperature is stuck at 90 Celsius, and on the Thermal tab it says it can't retrieve data. Might be a damaged temperature sensor?
Does someone know a fix for this? a way to deactivate this auto turn off feature, as it's not overheating, or something?
Thanks a lot for the help
Take off the rear cover and disconnect the battery. Inspect for any signs of water or corrosion on pcb power buses, connector pins, etc.
Put in a warm 80-120F, dry room with a fan on it for 24-72 hours. It must be completely dry.
Then see what you got...
Do Not use anhydrous isopropyl alcohol as a drying agent as it will likely poison the display.

Prior to this incident have had no problems with this phone.
Was out jogging with my phone in an arm band listening to pandora when all of a sudden my phone died. Didn't think much of it until I got back and it was extremely hot (in the bottom back near usb input). Plugged it into my charger and started it back up. Once on, it would not get to 100% charge. And again, was extremely hot. Once I took it off of the charger, the phone immediately died. Thought I might have gotten the battery wet from sweat, so I ordered two new batteries. Once those came, I charged those up with a direct battery charger then tried to put them into the phone. They both lasted a total of 15 minutes before being depleted. I have turned off all syncing and all background data. When I try to connect my phone to my computer to RUU, it asks me to scan and fix the drive.
Any suggestions?

Plug it in to the wall outlet and see if you are charger AC.. I had a problem with my charger port where no matter what I connected it to, it would charge very slowly and only at USB.. Even when it would say 90 percent, it would die a short time after, when rebooted it would show no battery left... Not sure if this is your problem, but figured I would share my experience... Ended up getting a replacement after the techs looked at it...
Try taking a good quality qtip (less chance of shredding bits of cotton off) and 91% isopropyl alcohol and cleaning the charging port out carefully also clean the battery terminals in the phone, Sweat contains salt which will deposit after the sweat evaporates and salt is both corrosive and conducive so if there is any in the port or on the terminals it can cause a short

Thank you for the tip on cleanning
Short story...this weekend I had my Gnex about 2 feet from a hot tub and was periodically changing songs on it, getting drops of water on the screen and sometimes wiping it off with a towel. Fast forward to an hour after leaving the hot tub (with a fully functioning phone) and my battery dies during a phone call. I plug in the phone (powered off) and a few hours later turn it on to see the screen black/white fuzzy like a tv without reception. I restart but see the same. I pull the battery and shove it in rice for a day... the phone vibrates upon powering up but now nothing at all shows on the screen. I dismantled the phone today and saw the water sensor attached near the charging port is pink. Any thoughts on how I can salvage the phone? My computer recognizes the Gnex but the folder appears completely blank. This phone has been through much worse, I can't believe small droplets on the screen did this. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I sold a Galaxy Note 2 on amazon and it was returned with the water indicator positive on both the battery and the phone itself. Unfortunately, Amazon overrode my decision on not to refund the customer, so now I am stuck with a defective phone.
I took it apart and left it in rice for weeks and bought a new battery because the one in there had blown up like a balloon. The phone powers on and charges and it appeared to be working fine up until I attempted to use it for a day. It crashes and the battery drains from 100% to 20% when powered back on. Is there any way to fix this device?
Thanks.
First of all im sorry to hear about your loss, The thing you have mentioned seems like there is still moisture in the phone. You have already mentioned you placed the phone in the rice, I hope you have airtight the packet as well ?? What is the temperature there? If you have a country like sun shining and hot weather then you can place your phone and battery at the car dashboard. Which will warm the phone internally.
If you have a short circuit and motherboard then you need a technician. But as you mentioned phone is working fine and only problem is draining of battery than it looks like phone have moisture.
Hi
Got a water damaged nexus 7 2013 over here, as soon as it was dropped in water, I turned it off and dried it off before taking it apart and letting it dry out. After putting everything back together the tablet worked wonderfully and the only remainder was a little bit of water under the touch screen and I think I made a big mistake by ignoring that.
After about a week, the battery was dead and needed to be charged, I plugged it in and the led blinked 5 times which is normal so I just left it. After coming back I noticed that the tablet was pretty hot near the cpu and of course, it refuses to turn on, it doesn't blink 5 times anymore, my computer doesn't beep anymore, it's totally dead.
Things I've tried so far:
Connecting it to my pc without battery and screen connected (I know it should blink 5 times as well if no battery is installed) and nothing
Trying to turn it on without daughter board connected (should still show google screen, I have done this before) and again, nothing
Trying to turn it on without screen or daughter board (I know I had a notification that made it beep when it turned on) and nothing
I took it apart again and noticed that the connector on the actual lcd was very corroded and I just assumed the screen was causing this but apparently something else is broken as well.
Anything I can do about this?
Thanks
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about this unfortunate accident.
Firstly an advice to anyone reading it -- in such situation, turning it off is not good enough and one must disconnect the battery ASAP! That's because the power switch is actually only like a standby control and unable to completely cut off power supply. While off, full power is still available to all mobo's voltage regulators as well as LCD's backlight converter and its local power regulator. And then accelerated water corrosion and damage starts...Remove all metal shields from the motherboard and clean up corrosion residues. The LCD is gone for sure, so test it out again with the mobo and peripheral boards only, looking for the notification light's blinks. If it works, check if you can get picture over SlimPort connection.

I used a multi-meter to test the battery and the cells are @ 3.4V not sure if that's enough to turn the tablet on tough... I'm letting it charge for a while now to see if my computer picks it up
EDIT: the battery voltage when not connected to the board is 3.4V, the battery voltage when connected to the board is 0.34V. That can't be good
EDIT2: the cpu is mildly warm but the PM8921 battery management IC is burning hot after leaving it to charge for a while
Hi,
My son dropped the device in drinking water. I opened the case, separated the battery, and kept the device inside rice for 3 days straight. Now, I don't see any trace of water. When connecting the USB cable, with ultimeter, I see the battery charging. I connect the battery and try to turn it ON. The device responses with vibration and the display back light is lit. However, there is nothing in the screen, it's completely off. The screen back light is always ON when charging.
How to diagnose the hardware in this condition (as the display is not working)? Is there any PC application for this device that can do the full hardware test? What should be my next steps to figure out what might be broken?
Thanks in advance.
