Hi, I have a problem on my Galaxy GIO GT-S5660.
After turning off my phone, this has gone in bootloop. I've tried to search solutions on the forum, but no one has worked.
I can't go into recovery mode, just into Downloading mode and Emergency Downloading mode. When I try to flash it with a stock rom with Odin, it works until the reboot: when the phone is going to reboot, it doesn't start again. Odin takes his 5 minutes and say "PASS", but the phone is in the same bootloop and I can't use the Recovery mode.
I tried to flash the rom with Odin just using One Package option and either putting 4 packages.
Any idea?
Thanks!
P.S.: Do you know what is "Parameter Clear", "PDA format", "MD5 RAM Check" and "Phone Boot Udpate" under the "Debug ONLY" menu? I use Odin Multi Downloader v4.42.
what did you do? rom manager?
cuz not booting and corrupt recovery cant happen out of nothing, and it are complications of using rom manager on the wrong way.

BOOTLOOP
After updating, from samsumg, my android doesn't start and i cann't use it. Try everthing, any ideias?
It sounds like we have the same problem.
My phone won't boot normally (I just get a black screen that flashes every few seconds) and I can't get into recovery mode, only download mode. Tried flashing with Odin and it didn't seem to change anything. I don't know what else to do.

Accidentally used Mobile Odin on the wrong phone. After the use of that application the phone continue to work properly, I had that problem After rebooting.

I have the same black flashing screen when my Gio is charging, but I have the Samsung logo flashing every few seconds when I try to switch on the phone. What did you do on yours? Rom Manager or what?

It might have been that I tried to read /dev/stl5 (EFS partition) and that corrupted it. Or it might have been that I tried to flash it using heimdall (which I later discovered doesn't work on Gio). That didn't seem to do anything though, so I'm not sure what actually bricked it.

I would try to use PDA format under Debug Only menu in Odin 4.42, if I only knew what it does. Or maybe use Boot Update, under Debug menu... do you know any official manual of Odin and his Debug options?

I tried those. PDA format makes Odin crash. Boot update doesn't help.

Same crash bere with PDA format, but I tried Odin 4.42. You too?
Can you guys still boot into recovery? If not, try flashing recovery via Odin. Once in recovery, factory reset your device, wipe system, wipe dalvik, wipe everything. Then try once again with Odin to flash your stock ROM - try a one package file (includes everything).

I can't get into recovery. If I boot while holding [home], the screen just blinks every few seconds, the same as if I boot without holding anything. I have tried flashing CWM recovery or stock ROM with Odin; it doesn't seem to change anything.

The same here. I tried to flash a cwm recovery, a stock recovery, anche extracted-from-one-package-and-hand-build recovery, but nothing changes. Only Samsung-logo bootloop.

Any news on this? iam with the exact same problem.
Did you got it?
have you tried to flash cwm whit odin? you don't need a rom to boot just flash a recovery twrp/cwm and wipe everything or you can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310
It's happening the same form me... I never used Rom Manager WTH!!! I flashed a lot of times on my samsung galaxy ace stock roms, and never happened this... dunno what to do but this is so strange... can go in download but flash when I flash any stock, stays the same "flash" bootloop, samsung logo only 1s and disappear 1s and the same... nothing...
Guys, I think I really screwed myself this time.
1) When I turn my phone on, it shows "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." However, when I try to do the emergency recovery on Kies, it doesn't show up on the list of devices that requires emergency recovery.
2) Somehow I deleted CWM, and I have no backups
3) Stock firmware doesn't load correctly. I tried it (Maybe with the wrong file, I don't know), and it got me to the start screen, but the touchscreen freaked out on me.
Hope all of you like a challenge... Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Phone won't boot to recovery, Even when I press up-home-power it stays in odin mode.
What bootloader is on your phone? The phone is an i747?

This sometimes happens when an ongoing OTA update is interrupted. You could first try firmware recovery via Kies. If that doesn't work, then you can flash custom recovery via Odin, since you can get into download mode, and flash a complete stock image or custom ROM via recovery. To try the first option ...
1) Install and open Samsung Kies on your PC. You need Kies now and not Kies-3
2) Open Tools => Firmware upgrade and initialization
3) Enter your model name (SGH-I747)
4) Enter the serial no of your device. Open the back cover and look in the battery compartment for this
5) Do not plug in your phone at this time but make sure you have a good quality data cable ready
6) Wait for firmware download to finish and follow the rest of the on-screen instructions. Connect your phone when prompted and allow firmware restoration to be complete.
Hope this works. If it doesn't, then try firmware restoration via (custom) recovery. I wouldn't suggest you try flashing with Odin in case your phone's bootloader already updated to 4.3. Your safest best would be to flash a complete 4.3 stock image and you can follow the instructions posted in this thread ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
First, you would need to flash custom recovery to your phone via Odin. You can use TWRP or CWM for now since the files posted in the thread support either one or other of the two. If you need further directions or help on this, please let us know. Good luck!

For the Kies way, It starts working, but then it turns off suddenly.
For the other way, I don't know how to do it, because I think CWM got deleted off my phone.
EDIT: When I removed the SIM Card, I was able to install the firmware. However... It freaks out whenever I put it in recovery mode, not letting me select an option. Oh, and When it gets to the purple oval with the samsung logo in the middle while booting, it shuts off.

You said you were able to successfully flash the firmware. Good! Was this via the Kies option or the recovery option? If you flashed the firmware, then you are there already. Can you try booting into recovery again and doing a wipe/factory reset? If this doesn't work, then we can try the 4.3 restore.

Except, of course, you'll need to be able to get into recovery mode fully to use this option. You may try downloading TWRP for your device via the following URL ...
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/d2att/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-d2att.tar
Boot your phone into download mode and flash the recovery *.tar file via Odin
Check if you can successfully boot into TWRP. If so, you can try the hard wipe thing here. If not, it gets more difficult and you may need to go back to Odin.
If TWRP recovery works ....
1) Try doing a hard wipe/reset. If this works and enables you reboot successfully, order a drink or something. If you still cannot boot successfully, then try next step below.
2) Download the 4.3 stock recovery zip for TWRP posted in the following thread. Verify the MD5 and save to an external SD card...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
3) Place the SD card in your phone. Reboot to TWRP recovery and select install. Wait for flashing to complete. Clear your cache/dalvik and reboot to system
If you still cannot get to recovery ....
4) There is an Odin flashable *.tar file for i747 on 4.3. There have been mixed reports on its success, however. Some have reported using it successfully whilst a few have reported a brick. You have little to lose, however, and a brick, if it happens, would be likely recoverable. Scroll through the thread to find the file posted by Recognized Contributor Enewman. Download this file and flash via Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722660
I'd have also suggested flashing 4.1.1 via Odin, except there is a risk that your phone is already on the 4.3 bootloader and flashing an older would result in a brick.

I thought you could get into download mode easily enough before? If you have difficulties getting into download mode, you may try using a jig as you will need download mode to effect any of the various solutions. There is no reason to panic, however. Your phone is never bricked as long as you can get into download or recovery mode.

Try a different computer to flash it, or it is done for. Does ODIN indicate that there was an error flashing?
There is nothing else we can do for you on this forum, if it won't flash the stock firmware. That is the last resort. The firmware has everything you should need to be able to get it back working, if it is software related. It could be hardware.

The stock firmware is what i have been flashing and it Odin does say 'Successful'. Since it has everything i need then i guess the phone is done for i opened the phone to checke the hardware, it seems the battery is a bit swelled, do u think that may play a role in this? And when i plug it in to charge the phone doesnt show battery status picture instead, it just keeps vibrating as if i were to plug in and remove the charger. The charger is brand new btw. I really appreciate ur help Rob.

I installed 3 custom roms and still didnt work, i tried restoring a back up and the phone restarts in the middle of it making as if it crashes. If it is the boot partition, you'll need to update the firmware, not just the ROM. You'll have to do that with ODIN and a PC, not CWM nor PhilZ. TWRP works fine as long as you use v2.8.4.0 or earlier. The v2.8.7.0 has bugs.
If you are flashing different recoveries, you should be able to flash the firmware. Again, you HAVE to flash twice in a row for it to stick. Flash with ODIN. Remove battery. Flash again. Then, boot the phone.

As soon as it installs and vibrates and shuts the screen i remove the battery and put it back in and go back into download mode and flashed again. It still did not stick. Or should i flash, then as soon it reboots i hold down volume to enter download mode, rather than remove battery?

Uncheck the Reboot box on ODIN. Don't let it reboot. That is the problem. '
In ODIN. Load the .tar. Uncheck Reboot.
Boot into Download mode and Flash. DO NOT REBOOT.
Pull the battery.
Wait a few minutes.
Put the battery back in.
Boot into Download Mode. Flash.
Then reboot.

At this point, I have no idea. But, IIRC when you flash the firmware, it should be replacing your custom Recovery (CWM) with the Stock Recovery.
So, are you flashing CWM after you are flashing the firmware? Or, are you trying to use CWM to flash the firmware? If so, that is the issue. You have to use ODIN with a computer to flash the firmware.
CWM, Philz and TWRP are for flashing ROMs, kernels, etc, not firmware.

I would not think it is the power button, since you say it does turn on. And, it does seem the Volume rocker works, since it tries to get into Recovery and does get into Download mode.
Which version of the firmware are you trying to flash?
Depending on the version of the bootloader/modems, etc. you can't downgrade versions of the firmware. You can only flash the same version or higher.
Are you flashing the 4.4.4 from here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/firmwares-official-mdl-mk2-nb4-t2816508
Are you sure you have a SGH-M919 version of the S4? If you look under the battery, it should have a sticker with that model number.

Depending on the version of the bootloader/modems, etc. you can't downgrade versions of the firmware. You can only flash the same version or higher.
Are you flashing the 4.4.4 from here?

Are you sure you have a SGH-M919 version of the S4? If you look under the battery, it should have a sticker with that model number.

Sir, i after following the procedure and didnt work i left the phone battery out and phone off for 3-4 days. I put the battery in today, literally just now and it somehow worked amd booted normally... it instantly sent goosebumps throughout my body because it just seemed so odd and unexpected with no reasoning for it to work now. Do u have any idea of what it may have been?

I have no idea. Just thank the gods of electronics and carry on.
But, it could be some sort of hardware connection that is sometimes connected and sometimes not. You may want to start looking for a backup or spare.

OK the first big mistake you are making is attempting to flash firmware in stock recovery.
This is *NOT* DOWNLOAD mode.
To enter DOWNLOAD mode hold POWER +HOME +VOL DOWN(not up)
You will then see a screen asking if you wish to continue. Select continue.
Then load your stock firmware with the md5 extension into the AP tab of ODIN and flash.
It will auto reboot and take about ten minutes on the SAMSUNG loading screen to complete booting.
Flashing 100 % in download mode

one more thing when i plug it for charging it shows samsung boot screen not battery charging screen
i have back cover off so i disconnected battery to power it off and checked with that also it shows samsung boot screen
even when it is power off (disconnecting battery then connecting ) connected with pc also shows samsung boot screen
by boot screen i mean the first one you see when powering on not the logo
Also your 1st reply that i am flashing firmware in recovery is leading me to conclusion that my tab is going directly into recovery after boot
Also i can email you all the photos of whole process i take photos of odin and tablet at the same time and used other pc and cable
It seems your partitions are messed up somehow. This probably happened flashing cm and why it boots to recovery.
I've seen this behaviour before.
I'd advise you to flash the stock firmware with the pit file for the t800.
You will find the pit file on this forum.
Will do and update

Ok can you try flashing my latest twrp in the dev section.
Make sure you disable auto-reboot then force reboot into recovery.
Are there any errors at all when flashing?

OK from what I can gather from your images is that you start off with a lollipop firmware then flash an early ANFB firmware.
As far as I can remember it boots into recovery afterwards on that firmware to complete the flashing process.
However it seems it is not compatible with your model.
What region is this tablet from?
I'd forget about flashing KitKat firmware for now. Use lollipop firmware.
The first thing I suggest is to manually boot to recovery and wipe the cache partition then wipe data/factory reset.
Next is stop using ODIN 3.09 and download 3.10.7
Load the lollipop firmware correct for the device region and flash with ODIN.
If it fails after booting to recovery, wipe the cache partition again and see if it boots.
If not report back and I'll post how to get past it.
Its UK model

It will always go to recovery after flashing as it uses recovery to complete the flashing process.
Even if it fails in recovery just wipe cache and factory reset and it should boot.
Will take about ten minutes on the SAMSUNG logo with sparks then you will see the updating message and finally boot into android.
To circumvent the device booting into recovery after flashing use 7zip and right click on the md5 file then choose open archive and highlight sboot.bin, boot.img, recovery.img and system.img.
Drag these out of the window into an empty folder.
Next highlight these four files and right click then in 7zip select 'add to archive'
Select 'tar' and make sure compression method is 'store'.
Once the process is finished you can flash the resulting tar file in AP slot of ODIN.
Will do and update asap

Just got home after work will follow your advise and will update
This is my relative phone (S4 Mini Duos) so I am helping him, he flashed CM ROM then flashed the stock ROM again. After flashing is complete and successful the phone only shows
Recovery booting
Set warranty bit: recovery
If force reboot it will show the splash screen then vibrate and turn off, then vibrate and turn on and show the splash screen and so on in a continuous loop
No matter what stock ROM I flashed the result is the same I found a pit file but couldn't find a stock ROM in 4 parts (Bootloader, PDA, Phone, CSC) to debrick it, all I found is the one with one tar file.
I tried to flash TWRP or CWM recovery and it is the same result. All flash processes stock ROM or any recovery is successful but nothing help.
Can I have some suggestions, useful links to help get this phone working again because he can't afford buying a new one.
let me share some of my experience, although it may not help.
My first android device is samsung i9190. and my first time flashing stuff. I flashed twrp through odin and flashed cm12.1 through twrp.
i really liked the rom except i needed best camera which stock rom offer. so here what i did is just open odin and selected my firmware.tar.md5 and click started.
I had one problem arised that my phone would vibrate from time to time on samsung logo but would not start.
So i had to go in stock recover and formatted cache and system(sorry i do not remember it might be restore system option). and after i rebooted the phone worked. And i have done it many times that way it work.
You can also try and flash through kies.
As I said When I flash stock ROM, everything is successful but I have the same result, I can't go into recovery and can't boot normally
Hey there,
Try downloading Unified Android Tool by Skipsoft. It will download all the necessary files relating to your phone and there should be stock recovery files under your model. Then try and boot the necessary files through Odin and see from there. I have a similar problem but I found booting a custom rom helped. But first try and get into recovery. Hold power, home button and volume up to switch the phone on, let go of power when it comes to the logo and see if it reboots into recovery.
Good luck

Thanks for this tip, I will try Skipsoft tool. Right now I can't go into recovery as you see in the attached photo, if I could get a working recovery then maybe I could revive the phone.
OK I tried Skipsoft Unified Android Tool and downloaded all the files, flashing any recovery is successful but I get the same result...
Recovery booting
Set warranty bit: recovery
Still have no clue how to solve this.
If someone have a link for a repair 4 files (Bootloader, PDA, Phone, CSC) to use it with a Pit file, please provide a link
Thanks
