Howdy, Y'all! I have a buddy who has a Q7+ that bricked its self during an update. Powering up, the phone goes into fastboot mode. I have tried searching for the stock ROM for it, but all the download links I have found seem to be either expired or no longer working. This Q7+ is from Metro (by T-Mobile). We tried to unlock the boot loader to install a custom ROM but since LG no longer has their dev portal working, this was futile. We also tried with this reversed engineered MTK Tool but that also did not work as it did not pick up the phone. If someone could either help us to unlock the boot loader and get TWRP installed or get us the stock ROM, we would greatly appreciate the assistance. Thank you all so much!

Has anyone successfully put a custom ROM on this device? I used to have an old Samsung S3 where I was able to put on CM and it was a piece of cake, but with this tablet I'm having issues with the bootloader being locked.
So far I've tried to install TWRP, CWM, and Philz custom recoveries. The problem seems to be with the versioning. Everything is customized for the v500. I was able to install Philz_Touch_recovery_V490.img which allowed me to boot into some sort of 'fastboot' recovery mode when before I would just get the message: "error boot certification verify" on start up. This fastboot mode isn't the Philz interface and it doesn't give me the option to back anything up or boot a ROM. It doesn't really give me any options except to restart, restart bootloader, or power off.
Were you on Lollipop or Marshmallow before you bricked it? (Which one?)
Lollipop.
The device is not bricked as I am still able to access the stock ROM. I just never was able to access my boot loader. I keep getting the error message "Error: boot certification verify" My carrier is US Cellular and they tend to lock a lot of features on their device. Is it possible they blocked boot loader access to be assholes?
BTW, my device is successfully rooted. (I checked with a root verify app.)
I'm looking into implementing the loki-master hack to unlock my boot loader and hopefully then Philz recovery will work as intended. (It is the only custom recover option that didn't give me an out-right failure message). This does seem to be an advanced developer tool requiring some code skills. Anybody have any tips for this Loki procedure?

I would doubt if you could still use the Loki method on a stock LG Lollipop ROM. For example, LG patched the Loki exploit on the VK810 LG G Pad 8.3 as of KitKat, and Lollipop on this device can't even boot the ROM using the old bootloader - it requires the Lollipop bootloader. In our case, the exploited bootloader can be temporarily reflashed to get into TWRP, but then we have to reflash the Lollipop bootloader to boot the ROM again.
sorry bring up old stuff
so i was able to root. have su i bcked up stock recovery and basicly any recover i flash i get the boot error but also gets fastboot.
ofcoarse ive tried most common commands and she wont reconize any of them.
im a long time lg user and thinking that this old of a sytem needs to be bumped like g3

can you point me to the files you used to root the device.
THank you
Lg g pad f 8.0 v495
I rooted with kingroot apk but make sure you use kingroot version no higher than 4.5 . Because you are going to want to use SuperSume to replace kingroot as superuser it runs alot smoother. And for some reason any version higher than 4.5 of kingroot the supersume always freezez u. Hope this helps. If u get time pm have a question totally unrelated to the g pad but could use some help.
I have an XT1789-01 Verizon locked bootloader model Moto Z2 Force and I was successful in getting it into EDL mode (Qualcomm 9008). Is there a way I can flash TWRP with this? What exactly is possible with this? Thanks
the tmobile and at&t versions are the exact same model so if we get a phone to switch into this mode it may be possible to load it as a retail/tmobile version. im sure the verizon version has a similar issue as the at&t with a locked bootloader.

Well I'm trying to get TWRP flashed but I don't know how with EDL mode. It would bypass the need to unlock the bootloader if so. We could just flash a whole new bootloader from EDL, but I don't know how.

after a google search it seems there are tools that you can use to communicate with the device in edl mode but i dont know how easy it will be to accomplish what you are trying to do

If you share it maybe someone can figure it out for you
I was curious if there was a way to boot into edl mode, obviously you can brick it there. I have a few leads as to how it can be done, but I haven't pursued them as edl isn't a necessity for me and I don't want to find myself in a position that I can't get out of without redoing everything. I imagine if I ever borked my phone I might delve into it a bit more. I thought edl might offer a solution for those who aren't bricked, but find themselves with a false lock and unable to flash anything.
Mainly though I don't like your approach, wanting help but not offering help, that's not what XDA is about. I get it though, AT&T and Verizon has a bounty for unlocking their bootloader and edl might offer a step in that direction, but there's a lot more to it. I'll give you a hint though, there is no recovery partition on this phone. Good luck.

yeah i figured that much, chcecking the vzw default firmware shows boot.img and bootloader.img, im assuming boot is where twrp is installed.
So getting to EDL mode was suprisingly easy and stupid, but it is for sure 100% EDL mode.
abd reboot edl
that's all. Granted I haven't updated the phone in a while, Ihave December 1 2017 security patch and oreo 8.0.0.
since this information is now public i think it should be clear not to update the phone from now on.
Hi
I have 5 x Moto z2 strength is I would like how you operate EDL Emergency DownLoad mode.
# abd reboot edl -> OK
The phone goes off (apparently ...) And now I miss the tools to interact with the phone.
How did you do ? What tools? Which orders?
thank you in advance
Hello all,
I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out. I have long ago unlocked the bootloader and have crossflashed my G710PM to ULM. At this point my main goal is to flash lineage to this device. I had originally bricked the phone flashing a V30 experimental bootloader, seeing as it was my daily driver, I went an purchased a new phone. Now I'm back to work on this phone as a project, and with a quick QFIL flash, I'm back to square one.
I have only been able to access fastboot when I have the ULM11g firmware flashed to the phone, as far as I'm aware, you can't flash TWRP using this version so I flashed ULM21d in order to get TWRP on it. I wasn't able to get to fastboot from this version so I tried flashing the Euro firmware EM20b. Once again, no fastboot. I've made multiple attemps to find the abl-a image for the ULM version with no success.
I'm determined to get lineage on the phone.. Any help as to where I should start would be hugely appreciated!
Flash Ulm11g again and ab_a then flash ulm20e or 20
Hi,
I got a Chinese Redmi Note 8 Pro which I tried to convert to Global ROM but while flashing I accidently selected the "Flash & Lock" option. The phone is now stuck in recovery menu and shows "This MIUI cannot be installed on this device". The bootloader is also locked again and I am unable to reflash it using the official tool. I am able to get into Fastboot mode.
Please someone advice how can I recover the phone (even on stock Chinese ROM). The official service centres in my country are of no help as the device was not purchased locally. It seems you can get it done online by paying someone with an authorized MI account but I am a bit hesitant to go that way.
I have found lots of guides and youtube videos using SP Flash tool, MTK tools etc but it is not clear if those method will work in my case as my bootloader is locked. Also most of those methods seems to be for a hard bricked phone but I am atleast able to get into fast boot mode. Can someone please guide me exactly which method will work in my case? I dont mind if the phone recovers to the stock chinese rom.
Thanks
A month ago I bricked my G40 fusion. It was in "flashing locked" state which meant I could not send any commands over fastboot.
EDL mode was of no use as there were no QFIL files available for the phone.
I paid a tech to bring my phone back to life but I do not know everything he did. I am posting what I know about the process. I understand that repair techs are dependent on income from these situations so understand that I am only posting about the limited things I know.
Process-
Phone was kept in fastboot mode(flashing locked)
MotoflashPro was used to gain information on device status.
Accessed MotounlockGsm.com through CMD(BAT file) and used usb over server to connect phone to it.
Thingamajingy happened and phone now entered "oem_locked" state.
used motoflashpro tool to flash stock rom
booted to recovery
hard reset phone
reboot.
Phone now works like before. No bootloader unlocked warnings on startup. Tech said custom roms should no longer be flashed and phone needs to be used as it is now.
My phone is Indian variant but Indian rom failed to flash. Global retail rom was flashed and works just fine.
