Google "mtkclient" you can get GitHub source one or many portable version based on it.

thanks i will try that.

mtkclient is open source free software under the MIT license. The software simply exploits MediaTek's BootRom vulnerability to force unlock the bootloader

Will Chinese version of Xiaomi Mi 6 work properly with Google?

Hello everyone. I'm in China currently and I'll stay here for a while. I'm planning to buy Xiaomi Mi 6 from Taobao. Here is the link
So am I going to be able to use Google services? Play Store and all other if I buy this phone? Also, if not, I guess that I need to root my phone and install custom rom in order to get Google services. Is there any way to root and install custom rom as well as TWRP without using the computer?
Thanks
I've been to China and I bought a redmi not 3 there, in my experience there should be no problem; you buy the phone, unlock the bootloader and switch from China to global rom. Probably there is also the possibility to install Gapp on the Chinese rom. The only problem is that if you wanna use Google and it's services in China you better have a VPN
Oh, I understand. But it's not the same. Models are different. Actually I'm not sure. It's going to be my first Xiaomi phone. So far I'm familiar with Xperia and HTC. Love them both but "high" end devices are getting too expensive. I'm also considering to buy OnePlus 3T. What do you guys think which is better and easier for unlocking, rooting and installing custom roms?
I repeat again that I'm not familiar with these brands, never touched them actually I Need your help! And don't forget that I don't have PC. Unlocking bootloader, root, recovery and rom must be done without Pc. Help help help

Just unlock bootloader and flash Global rom via MiFlash. It's that easy.
My device is the Chinese model. Bought from a seller who just imports them and flashes the global ROM
The mi 6 models are all identical.
Global is the same as Chinese anyway just a different model number since they had to get more legal things pushed through to sell it internationally.
Buy the Chinese model in China. It will be cheapest there.
Then when you are back in a country which supports Google services you can unlock the boot loader, then flash using Mi flash to the global ROM.
Since the phone is identical this works fine. I was running the global ROM on mine (now custom ROMs).
Really a great phone and no issues for me.
Also checkout the mi mi 2 it looks pretty awesome but for a "smaller" device Mi 6 is fantastic.

Xiaomi follows the same standard for all their models..
Want to Unlock the bootloader?
-Make a Xiaomi account
-Link the phone to your Xiaomi account
-Request them to allow you to unlock the bootloader
-Waits 72 hours
-Unlock bootloader.
Thank you all for replying, appreciate your help. I'm going to buy Mi 6. Actually I meet a guy today who is willing to help me and he knows about these things. So, buying, unlocking bootloader, flashing official global rom>using Google services Later if I want I need to root device install custom recovery and new rom. We'll see. Any recommendations for rom, with no bugs

No, it's just too large for me. I like to use phone with one hand. I'm not a fan of displays larger than 5.5 inches so I'll stick with Mi 6.

Brand New Device BRICKED After Using Official Mi Flash Tool!

Please help! The phone is now bootlooping to Recovery Mode after using the Mi Flash Tool to flash Whyred Global ROM!
I had LineageOS on the phone but I decided I wanted to give MIUI a chance. (not doing well so far)
The bootloader was locked when I flashed the device, that was the default option checked which is an insane thing to do!
I can't unlock the bootloader again because it came unlocked and I never linked my device to my Mi account!
If I try Mi Flash again I get Flash XBL error!
I tried connecting my PC to Mi Suite as the Recovery Mode suggests but the software WILL NOT detect the device!
What should I do? Or am I totally screwed and should I be seeking a refund? I literally got this phone today!!!
I've already tried Googling for an hour or so with no luck.
Help!

There is no reason global version note 5 to came with unlocked bootloader. You probably have china version with global rom.

Xiaomi announced that china device will may be brick while trying flash global ROM:
https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-miui-global-locked-bootloader-xiaomi-brick/
If seller claimed that phone is global try to get refund, global version phone is locked so probably it was china version with global ROM.

Thanks heaps for the info.
The seller did say there was a Global ROM on the phone leading me to believe that it's possible to flash a Global ROM.
After this I think I'm going to go out of my way to avoid Xiaomi and Banggood.
I filed a dispute.

Always buy from official (or just trusted stores, if official sellers aren't available in your Country), i know, they aren't cheap at all (Banggood or Gearbest are cheaper than an official store, but you can have issues like this, China Devices with fake Global ROMs or something like that), i really hope for your refound and good luck, and remember, it's not Xiaomi Fault

Yeah you're right, it's not entirely Xiaomi's fault, but the practice of bricking users' devices when something goes awry is very anti-consumer.
For future reference, is this an official Xiaomi vendor? It's a "Top Brand" on Aliexpress but I'm not sure whether it's genuinely official: https://xiaomionline.aliexpress.com/store/2178148?spm=2114.11010108.103.50.85cf649bBRI4Nr
I was about to buy from here but I found a better deal on Banggood, big mistake!
Thanks for your help, hopefully I can get a refund because I remember the days when I had my Redmi Note 3 Pro and I really did like it.

did you research before flashing..
this is the cause why xiaomi now has a certain timer to unlock bootloader to avoid resellers to flash gobal rom on chinesse phone.. and people like you blaming xiaomi.
by the way need to have bootloader unlocked to flash with miflash tools.

What's wrong with blaming a company that bricked your phone?
You need to stop standing up for giant corporations, they don't need your support.

Sorry to hear that. I will not buy at Banggood I saw some time ago "super offer" RN5 global but in device description no B20, global version without B20 don't exist it simply deception.
I'm not 100% sure if it will work but i think it is worth to try. Your phone may be to recover. You said that it is in bootloop, so it is not hard brick but soft brick, try to enter fastboot and flash by Mi flash tool china ROM and then wait 360 h to unlock and then flash TWRP and custom ROM, not xiaomi global.

Great idea, keep blaming users for simple mistakes that haven't caused catastrophic failure on previous devices. (This wouldn't have happened on my Redmi Note 3 Pro) If your trying to be a toxic poison for the community, you're doing a great job, keep it up! :good:

xiaomi didnt tell you to unlock and flash roms.
in fact they warn you before unlocking. thos wouldnt happened if you didnt unlocked phone.
all companies changes their policies and rules. see huawei they locked bootlader. lg locked lg g4 except h815 and h811 . rest is locked. they all made changes.

Wow. You are so great....
1st: You've made a mistake by not actually researching, as suggested. This alone could have protected you or, at least, alter your perception of who is REALLY at fault here.
2nd: No software, or even hardware, is error free.
So, if you are expecting that the Mi Flash tool is going to protect you from any mistake you can do, then you are wrong again!
3rd: When someone points out a possible fault of yours, you ought to think about it and, if it's true, correct yourself the best you can.
So, don't throw accusations about an OEM, especially in this case where you used an official tool to do something unsupported, because as you probably guessed it by now, Xiaomi supports only Miui not Lineage and, of course, does not support whatever silly think had the seller already done to your device.
Never the less, I know the pain to have your brand new phone bricked and I hope you will soon find a solution to your problem.
Cheers...

Custom Rom?

Can anyone do some developing for Redmi note 8 pro. Because so much peoples are waiting for the roms for this phone?
My understanding at the moment, is that custom ROM development is being prevented on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, because it can get hard-bricked (become completely unusable) MUCH too easily, and the only way to unbrick it, is to use an authorised Xiaomi service account (which very few people have).
This means that, whenever a developer tries to test something they're working on (a custom ROM or custom recovery), if their phone gets hard-bricked while testing, their development completely stops until/if they can get their phone unbricked.
If Xiaomi were to allow all users to unbrick their Redmi Note 8 Pro easily (without needing these authorised Xiaomi service accounts), then I think that custom ROMS would start to come out (I believe the full source code has already been released, which is a prerequisite for custom ROM development).
Other members, please feel free to share your views, and correct me if I'm wrong on the above; what are the chances that Redmi Note 8 Pro owners will be able to easily/quickly unbrick their hard-bricked devices in the future?

true, also mediatek is also to blame, they really aren't that "open-source" compared to other chipset manufacturers. thus preventing custom roms and app ports like a stable gcam port.

Stable Global Question latest update

Hi,I just got the Mi 10T Pro yesterday,
I was disappointed to get the EEA version so I went ahead and used the Mi tool to convert to Global stable,
Everything seems to be fine and I'm on
Version V12.0.9.QJDMXM
Only concern I have is that my Security Is saying 2020-11-01 but the description of the ROM says updated security
To December
Can anyone on global stable same version as me confirm its on November
Or has something gone wrong as the previous EEA version I had was November.
Thanks
The changelog is wrong. Wait for next update to be fixed
Thanks for the reply, that's good actually because I was a bit apprehensive after using the Mi Tool on a locked bootloader to convert ROMs but I guess everything worked.

XiaoMiTool V2 is a easy to use tool to install rom on your Xiaomi device. Modding made easy for everyone! Download it for free now!

I used a tutorial that was already on XDA for a different Xaoimi device as a guide but it was pretty easy to do.

Question Rooting the Red Magic 6s Pro

I ordered the 6s Pro ghost variant recently and want to root it but I can't seem to find any comment or post about it.
I was wondering if the process was the same as the 6/6 pro variants but don't wan't to take the risk of bricking my phone to find out.
How many hours of screen on time are you getting on this device and on which refresh rate(165 hz....etc)?
Any cons you found so far?
Hey. I did that to my 6s pro ghost edition. And guess what. It's hard bricked right now.
I was trying to root this device, but I found out after formatting the device that the company did not download the software on its official website.
Where can I find the software for this device? Red magic 6s pro
I have a way to root this device. Absolutely
There is a Chinese guy goes by the name Shaw can root this device. He even gave out softwares to do so for free. But my plan originally was to change the os altogether. Now that the official firmware rom is not being released at least not for now, there is no way to fix wrong doings be it flashing or rooting missteps.
I have a Red Magic 6S Pro too - and I really want to root the device but Nubia has not released the Red Magic 6S Rom on their website.
Any updates on this?

it's the same way you root 6 and 6 Pro. Patch Boot.img and flash vbmeta using the fastboot --disable -verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
Where would you be finding this boot.img and vbmeta.img? been looking everywhere for them.
If you can also provide us with a YouTube tutorial that'd be nice.

Is it EU Rom or is it Asia Rom?

Don't go down this road. There is no fix for the bricking and modding this model is a pretty big risk ngl.
