Help with Installing TWRP and Root on Z2 Play(Force) - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

I recently got a Z2 Play from a thrift store and thought it would be fun to try my hand at rooting android device again. However I am struggling to get TWRP to install and to root the device. All attempts into installing TWRP have failed for me and I am not sure where to go from here.
Here are the steps I have taken so far.
I have downloaded the Android SDK and Motorola Drivers. I unlocked the bootloader for the Z2 Play. I can boot into Fast boot but when I try and install any Version of TWRP using the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" but I am met with the message saying Invalid Partition: Recovery. I checked online and there were some mention that I need to run "fastboot boot twrp.img" but that just goes to the Motorola logo and never continues anywhere.
I also tried to go a different route and try and root the device first and then use the TWRP install APK but not having any luck with rooting either. I have tried Kingroot APK but it just stays at 1% saying looking for Root.
Is there any sort of comprehensive guide that can go through all the steps needed to get TWRP on this device? From all the guides I have seen online it essentially says to unlock bootloader download twrp and install twrp via the fastboot command.
**Disregard the above issue** I was able to access the bootloader and install TWRP and root the device successfully. Apparently the phone I have is not a Z2 Play but a Z2 Force instead. once I got the right files for it I was able to install successfully.

Recovery mode is'nt working anymore!! NEED HELP !!

Hi, I'm new to android rooting and flashing stuffs. I have Asus Zenfone 2 16gb version.
My frnd rooted my device and installed superSU (something like that) but the xmod app was not working, so my frnd gave me this Kingo root apk he told me that it will work. so I installed that kongo root..it says some files needed to be fix, so I presses ok..after the prosecco is done, I reboot my phone..but it stuck in loading. after that I'm finding solution to boot it back normally. I tried flashing new firmware which I downloaded from the asus website, but It failed in 48%, some one told me to flash TWRP recovery, so I flash TWRP recovery from adb sideload, after that I was not be able to go in recovery mode. I press for recovery mode...my phone restarts and again loads the fastboot or bootloader screen. after that I tried to flash other recovery image. but still I cant go in recovery mode. PLEASE HELP!!
You should not flash custom recovery with a lock bootloader. Unlock your bootloader first.
You dont sideload a recovery img. Go to bootloader, then enter this adb command
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery image) .img
PS. Xmod dont work on intel based android processor. Correct me if Im wrong, Ive read that a long time ago.

Bootloop or just bad instalation?

Backgrond: Fresh new device. I unlocked bootloader through the all in one toolbox here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3358711) to unlock bootlaoder successfully and install twrp ( I chose this version TWRP 3.2.1 Blu Spark OP5T).
I unlock my bootloader successfully and then tried to install superSU through twrp. I realized at the time of TWRP installation, that I didnt have SUPERsu on my device so I booted up my phone, downloaded Super SU from (http://www.supersu.com/download) and then went back into recovery mode. I was able to install the file through twrp but now I'm stuck on the OnePlus Screen.
On the toolkit screen there was a message saying
"if you flash a modified recovery and you dont root your stock rom (or flash another rom) you will brick you phone.
Is that what I did? Should I flash a custom rom?
I can access fastboot, recovery, etc and use adb sideload. I thought maybe I installed the wrong super user file so I flashed a new one through adb sideload (this file SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502) but that didnt do anything either.
What should I do?

Lost root. How do I regain it?

Hi guys it's been a while since I've rooted any devices but decided to root my LG G PAD 8.3 (V500), since it is so outdated. I'm gonna go over exactly what I did on how I got here to better understand. Sorry in advance for the long winded post.
-Anyway, I had to downgrade to 4.2.2 by using the LG Flash Tool 2014.
-Then, I rooted my device by running root.bat Also, I had SuperSU when I rooted.
-After rooting, I installed TWRP via the play store, downloaded the most recent twrp.img and flashed it via the app. It took me forever to get to recovery by pressing power+volume down and then pressing power+volume down+volume up. But after what felt like 20+ tries, I got to TWRP recovery.
-I wiped my phone and flashed the most recent Lineage ROM. Unfortunately, after flashing the ROM, I could not flash GApps because it rebooted to the ROM after flashing. TWRP let me know that I had to update TWRP and since I did not have the play store and I was once again having trouble getting into recovery, I downloaded the most recent TWRP apk.
-When trying to open the apk, it gave me a "can't open file" message which I didn't understand why. After rebooting, for some reason, it then let me run the TWRP apk and installed the TWRP app. This is when I found out that I was no longer rooted because TWRP notified me. I double checked with root checker and indeed I was no longer rooted. I have no idea when or how that happened.
-Again, I couldn't get into TWRP recovery until I plugged in my phone to my PC and for whatever reason, it helped me get into recovery. I wiped the phone and proceeded to flash Lineage and GApps.
-I read that by flashing SuperSu I may regain root, so downloaded an updated SuperSu, went into recovery and flashed SuperSu. When rebooting, the LG screen came up with a message at the top left corner reading "secure booting error! Boot certification verify". At that point, I was in a bootloop and had to go into recovery, wipe and flash again minus supersu. So I am now on Lineage with GApps and no root.
How do I regain root? And anyone know how I was able to lose it? Back in the day when I was into flashing, I never had these problems and never lost root out of nowhere like this.
Also, if I wanted to get back to stock LG 4.2.2, how would I go about that? I know that currently, I can't use the LG Flash Tool 2014 because my current ROM does not have a USB Software option in order for the tool to recognize the tablet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Can't Install TWRP

I've unlocked my Bootloader and all via beta-test program from DCUnlocker. I wanted to install TWRP & Magisk and I have following every step available from sir Supersonic's guide, but whenever I opened recovery, it always shows stock recovery (eRecovery) even though my CMD states that the flash recovery was succesfull and I never let my phone boot up in order not to replace the TWRP just like any android devices normal recovery procedures.

can someone find a solution of this problem?

Flash TWRP with phone already rooted

I have an ATT LG V40 on android 8.1. The phone is already rooted and has magisk installed. I have been unable to get TWRP installed so I can flash a custom rom. It seems that being on android 8.1 is causing issues, but I am not really sure. I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/twrp-lg-v40-judypn.3970111/ and when I send the comand to flash TWRP in the command window is says the flash is finished and my phone boots up, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
You need to use LGUP to get to 9
Noob question but did you installed and tried magisk manager(I bet you already have) and flashify(searchable on Google) (magisk manager grants root to flashify and flashify installs twrp from storage)?
Are you certain that you're booting in to recovery? Many phones have an advanced reboot menu option on the developer settings. If yours doesn't I recommend an app like Simple Reboot.
If you're not certain that it's installing the recovery correctly have you just tried installing TWRP.zip from Magisk?

Which 'command', specifically, are you typing in when you say you are 'when I send the command to flash twrp'? The only command in those directions are to boot twrp, not flash it.
After you boot it, then you need the advanced section so you can recovery ramdisk, which will inject twrp into the current boot partition (and it keeps boot intact).
If you want to use current aosp roms, then follow the 'metadata' sections as you'll need that version of twrp for those roms.
cheers
