[ROM][4.4.2][LG G3 Port][6-29-2014]2FacedRom 1.6/1.7.1x Stock, Debloated, US GSM Unlocked
Please read everything before downloading and blindly installing!
Firstly, this ROM does install properly, it does boot, if you brick your phone while running this ROM chances are it was something YOU did and not the ROM, do not blame me. Secondly, I will keep this as up to date and fix things or add things as often as I can there is a Requested Features tab at the top and if you want something you need to say it there. There is also a Report Bugs tab at the top, same applies. I am the only person maintaining this project right now and I cannot read every post in this thread but I will do my best to stay on top of everything.
The rom is a port from the UK LG G3 but options for GSM or CDMA capabilities are select-able in Aroma. NFC does not work currently and may not work until the LS990 is released and dumped.
The CDMA configurations is still buggy and I am working on fixing it, update 1.7 will see a lot of fixes to the CDMA configuration. The phone app crashes when trying to call out but the phone can receive calls when CDMA is selected on install. Thats the biggest problem I've found so far.
v1.6

MD5: 8920b27fd59e08bae905d27266605d79
Working:
Pretty much everything except what is listed below
Not Working:
NFC (Both CDMA and GSM)
Calling Out (CDMA Only)
Settings FC on some menus (CDMA Only)
1.7.1 Experimental!
CDMA ONLY
For SMS/MMS use Hangouts!
Data does work but you cannot Enable/Disable it in settings or change network settings.
The phone will show "Roaming" but it won't actually be roaming.
Since this is experimental and for CDMA ONLY, only install with a clean flash.
Do not install if you are on a GSM network, for GSM stay with 1.6
To Install if coming from other ROM or 2Faced 1.0
1. Must be coming from ZVC Rom
2. Reboot to Recovery and Perform full backup
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Cache
4. Install Rom
5. Customize in Aroma
6. Reboot and Enjoy!
7. PLEASE allow rom to settle for 10-15 minutes then restart before doing anything.
To Install if coming from 1.5x(Dirty Flash is possible):
Make a backup
Install using custom recovery
Select which apps you may want removed in Aroma
Select CDMA or GSM configuration
Rom will format the System partition and install updated version but you will not lose any account data or apps you have installed
IORoot can be found here Here
AutoRec can be found here Here

Hi
Does it work with RUIMs ? Can you please test with any CDMA provider like Reliance , TATA , BSNL or MTS . I am interested in RUIM functionality in SIM slot and not interested in NV mode .
I need quick memo... It's not working... Any solution?

I don't have any way of testing with any of those providers but I am working on getting it to work with US CDMA Carriers, I'll do some research into your question and see if it can be put into the ROM. So far I havn't seen much outside of device limitation that cannot be achieved with Android and Custom Roms

I will most likely include a "fatter/bloated" version in my update, I do miss having Quick Memo as well as a few other niceties from a completely stock ROM. But as for now I haven't seen any flashable zip or .apk file to install for individual LG Apps. Depending on work over the next few days I should have an updated version with all of the stock LG Apps. I'm looking into using Aroma and allowing users to pick what they want on install.

Removable user identity module/subscriber identy module. Basically a new method to allow a CDMA (code division multiple access) phone use a gsm network. Our phone service is still CDMA, but 4g-lte is a GSM (global system for mobile) style network. So this format combines the two.

The RUIM card was designed to replicate many of the advantages of the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card on the GSM network. Phones on the CDMA network that do not use RUIM cards store all of the user's information in the phone itself; if the user wants to change phones, he or she has to go to the cell phone service provider, who will transfer the information to the new handset. GSM network phones use SIM cards, which store all of the user's information, so activating a new phone is often as simple as moving the card from one handset to another.
CDMA phones that use RUIM cards share this ability to swap information between phones. The card is the same size and shape as a regular SIM card, and typically includes a version of the SIM software, which means that it can be used in GSM phones. As with switching cards between CDMA phones, however, the GSM handset must be unlocked for a RUIM card to work with it. An RUIM card in a GSM phone might not work in all locations, because different regions use different cell phone frequencies.

From what I've read, it really sounds like if you have a ROM which allows both CDMA and GSM communications you're really limited on the frequencies that the phone can use, the LG G2 uses these GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 2100* LTE CAT 3, HSPA+ 21 Mbps* EDGE, GPRS Class 10, UMTS, HSPA+, WCDMA, LTE Bands 25/26/41*. All listed frequency support is network/carrier specific. Roaming capability and network frequency support may not be available. If the carrier you wish to use the device with supports any of these then it should work to some extent, at least that's how it appears to me.

I have Sprint LS980 only . On ZV7 and ZV8 both RUIM/GSM SIM card work once you change the NV only mode in device . I asked as this functionality was disabled by Sprint in ZVC . The device already has the capability and I dont want to lose it by upgrading to Kitkat . The frequencies in GSM might not work in US in HSPA+ but works fine in other countries which have the Sprint LS980 frequencies for HSPA+ and LTE .
So when the user had commented that he had used it in GSM in India , thats why i requested him to put any RUIM and confirm whether RUIM functionality is disabled or not .

This is not a Sprint based ROM, it is T-Mobile GSM based, which is why it allows for GSM carriers to communicate with the device and it not be locked to Sprint CDMA.

Yes, that means you need the modified kernel for your device. Most likely your device has the JDI panel and the kernel is built for the LGD panel.
Have you checked out this nifty tool which should patch your kernel and fix the white lines issue?

Shortly after posting I can across the jdi kernel and flashed it and all is working now. Thank you very much for the response and help.
I flashed the ROM but it won't boot ahead of LG Logo.
Seems it was a bad flash or bad download...
But, now I can't:
1. Flash TOT file of LS980 as it says incorrect model no
2. Can't boot to recovery thru key combinations.. Its really hit n miss n last time i could boot into recovery thru this combination on some other device was after 10-15 tries.
I can keep trying to boot to recovery n then restore my backup..
Before that, any other solution?
Edit... Was able to boot to recovery n then restore my ZVA backup..
What I actually did was, Flashed the rom on ZVA + flashed ZVC modem.
Was this the reason of not booting the rom? if so, do i need to be on ZVC only ??? No other way to go from ZV7/8/A?

yes it needs the ZVC Modem/Radio, there is a DLL file that will allow Flash Tools to ignore SW Version and flash it to an LG default. You can then reboot into download and flash anything else with the regular Sprint DLL if you ever get stuck again. I've used it many times, here it is.

But, out of curiosity, I did flash ZVC radio along with your rom, still why didn't it allow?
Thanks for the DLL thing...

New to this website(not flashing), I just wanted to make sure I was on track, ive had this sprint g2 for a few days now and while trying to flash a couple of 4.4.4 roms I got stuck on boot screen as well as a bootloop but managed to always get it back. Recently, I flashed the Cloudy G3 2.0 rom and so far is the only one I got to load. Im fine with using stock android but my main concern is getting a service to work(have yet to get another sim so cant test right now, would rather KNOW it would work once I buy it). I see you recommend using Cloudy G3 and I wanted to know which version was best, right now I just have the 2.0 rom installed with no data with instead of saying Sprint it doesn't detect the sim and says roaming indicator off. I would like to just be able to use T-Mobile or straight talk for talk, txt, and web(not much web, Comcast business class wifi ). Am I at least half-way there b/c every post I read about unlocking is helpful and all but requires stock rom or flashing another and I just wanted to stick with cloudy and get it up and running, just didn't know if I was on the right track, any advice?
I have two questions:
1) It unlocks CDMA, GSM or both?
2) Does it work with carriers outside US?
Thanks in advance.

1) CloudyFa says its for GSM.
2) Yes, it does work very well with carriers outside US. Myself used it at various countries outside US.
Thanks.
I'm confused...... either this doesn't work or no one here on the Sprint variant cares to sim unlock their device, or is this a repost in which someone else posted how to unlock and I just must have missed it? I only ask because no comments, thank you's...which I understand that part since most people on xda are unfortunately ungrateful in terms of having enough respect to thank the individual who helped them, or took time out of their lives to make something and share it.... but no confirmations that it does indeed work..... guess I'll just have to go ahead and try it out then.
so does this work? i have a sprint g2 that i just got. I have to fix the busted screen then i want to unlock it for tmobile. thanks!
I'll let you know in about 15 mins. What your screen is cracked? I thought my phone was broken because the screen was all black and would not turn on and I read every thread and no one seemed to know how to fix. Only solution I found was to send it in. But then I just took phone apart and unplugged the battery a day boom it turned on

I did this a while back on my Sprint G2, it works on T-Mobile. I switched to T-Mobile on the 15th. Only GSM though, which is still 2x faster than Sprint's 3G at least for me.
So go ahead and enjoy!

OK so I used this method to unlock the sprint LG g2 and while going into the dialer settings and changing the settings while I didn't use the settings that op suggested I switched to I believe gsm preferred and then went into the apn settings where the dev of Cloudy rom has edited in a bunch of different apns and t-mobile did work it just wasn't at speeds that we are used to this day and age in my opinion.. really not worth it to me. Tried using Verizon and while the apns popped up for it I couldn't seem to get it working. May just be the settings I was trying. But All In All The Method Does Work Just The Speed Is A factor

Yes, but I believe it actually requires more work, check out the unlock thread. It has a detailed explanation of how to do it. I prefer CloudyG3 as it does not have Sprint junk installed.

I found it earlier as well, thanks. I do not like bloatware either, but I need "stock stable" operations of my phone. I was planning to root it, so the thread gives me what I need. Not sure why it did not register for me before, too much info. I saved a link to it a week ago.
OM
Regarding the "stock stable" comment above: CloudyG3 on the G2 has been rock solid stable, and much smoother performance than the stock ROMs that I tested when I first got my G2 several days ago (ZVC was on it, it updated to ZVD, I never bothered with the ZVE update, but I did roll it back to ZV8 for some testing before I committed to installing CloudyG3).
The G3 UI is awesome, far better IMO than the G2 UI, and performance has been amazing. I installed the Dorimanx kernel and tweaked the Extreme_Battery profile a bit using STweaks and so far it's been nothing but pure awesome and I'm very happy with it.
Haven't had one issue since I did this about 3 days ago, and in fact the battery life has been steadily improving as the ROM "settles in" which is expected in some situations when that's done. I had over 7.5 hours of screen-on time yesterday and that was with only 88% on the battery when I unplugged it. I looped "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" 3x in a row with screen on the whole time (obviously) and sound muted; that movie is 2 hours and 15 mins long start to finish (including the credits because it has not one, not two, but THREE scenes during the credits).
I'm VERY happy with this CloudyG3 ROM on this G2 of mine, and as noted above and in many other posts, if you install CloudyG3 2.0 on the Sprint G2 the only thing you'll have to do afterward is put in a GSM SIM card and that's about it for it to work. All the "unlocking" stuff has been done with this ROM ahead of time - it's possible to stay pure absolute Sprint stock on this but getting that SIM unlock functional can be quite problematic, the instructions are "simple" but they still don't always work out. I made several attempts to do it with my Sprint G2 when I got it and finally gave up after reading all the positive reviews of CloudyG3.
If you want pure stock Sprint ROM action, you're going to have to work to get that SIM unlocked and it's not going to be easy - there's no "click this, click that, you're done" type solution, unfortunately.
Unless of course you take the "click this, click that, you just installed CloudyG3 on your G2, you're done..." route.
I am trying to decide between these two versions.
I dont really see the downside to the AT&T version as I dont plan on switching carriers, and from what I understand, the unlocked version wont support certain AT&T calling features.
Aside from some additional bloat - I recall it used to be that the AT&T versions didnt allow tethering. I think they currently DO allow tethering, correct?
Any other downsides to choosing the AT&T variant?
Thanks
For tether u must subscribe to tethering package or mod to unlocked firmware change apn and enjoy
Thanks! So thats a big reason to go with an unlocked phone vs AT&T version...

Since T-Mobile version SM-N976U came out today with Android 10 N976USQU1ASL3 would it make sense to try to flash the Verizon SM-N976V with it?

same thing ive been trying to figure out.
I doubt it would work. They are not the same hardware. The T-Mobile has the x55 modem and the Verizon uses the x50 modem. They are different phones.

And this is the only difference so far.
So if I try and flash my verizon n976v to tmobiles 976u, it won't work ? Has anyone successfully tried it and verified it works ?
It should work as long as you are within the same bin version - VZW for example on bin 2 recently. Everything should work modem is the only one at question. In theory driver for newer x55 modem should support x50, but who knows? The only gain right now is official Android 10, but VZW should get its own in a few weeks anyway.
I would also keep VZW ROM to flash it back.
No, this will not work.
Only U and U1 models are cross compatible, for flashing. You cannot flash U or U1 firmware to a model that ends in any other letter - and vice versa.
Good point! Thanks!

Anyone know why official firmware for Verizon Note 10+ 5G (SM-N976V) cannot be found on sammobile.com? I've yet to be able to locate it via their firmware database. They don't even list the SM-N976V model in my experience.

They don't have every single model. They don't have firmware for the G928V either, for example. And I'm sure I could find others, if I looked.
Thankfully, you can always grab the latest/newest version straight from SamFirm or Frija, any time that you want
If N976V/975U is written on the board, then it can be flashed with any firmware ? If not, why such a designation?

Doesn't matter what the board says. It matters which bootloader is flashed to it

IMEI doesn't matter either. The only thing that matters is what model it shows as, in the Settings. But no matter which one it is, you can't flash another model's firmware to it

OK. It shows N975U in the settings. Anyway , it seems strange that different models are written on the board. And also there is a 5G modem on the board.

Thanks. I'm afraid to even try to change an EEPROM. I'll leave it as it is , N975U
I know this is an older post however, I have a n976u I purchased carrier unlocked. I used https://t.me/Afaneh92UnlockChannell to unlock the bootloader and then went to town flashing everything I could find on to it. I have (or had) some photos showing different builds I had on that phone.
I am by no means putting down, discreditting or mean disrespect toward any developer, any builder, a manufacturer or website BUT some builds they say "wont work" and "not interchangeable" because of modems or chips or whatevers - however, my first 3 months I had n975u stock on my n976u. Took these pictures as an after thought so just service provider shows different from build, but you get the idea I hope.
I suppose bricking a $1k phone is not in most peoples to-do list and for sure I don't want that however, I am full aware the risk I take flashing my devices. I hope you are also aware of the risk. I flashed 100 different files from a patched odin to my Galaxy Note10+ 5g, and I dont care if the file was for SnapDragon or Exynos. Some files work for both and some dont. At 1 point I had 2 of every icon on the status bar... 2 battery icons, 2 time with seconds, 2 bandwidth icons and of course overlapping each other but the device still worked.
-- not a Samsung device but I have a Oneplus 7t Pro 5g McLaren TMobile device also and OrangeFox recovery is NOT for the Mclaren "they said" however, I flashed it and used it for a few months with no issues. I flashed a "do not flash-only boot" TWRP build as well for non-5g OnePlus 7t Pro device to my 5g McLaren and worked fine. Ive been using crDroid for a couple months now and bout to flash my Samsung with a newer build for n976u from https://t.me/userdata_aio_10_series

I installed it a couple of hours ago. Things that I have noticed. Custom notifications only play for up to 5 seconds, if you change your minimum width in developer settings, it reverts upon boot although my Pixel 6 Pro does that too, and it turned my blue digital clock on my home screen lavender and I can't change it back. They also added the Google/T-Mobile screen on the very left and I haven't found the way to turn it off yet.
My wife also got the update to 12 on her OnePlus 9.
Can anyone that has updated their T-Mobile variant to a12 and has root install Network Signal Guru and see if when you force your phone to NR only and run a speed test if you get n71-n41 CA? Also can anyone pull the updated modem image and share it?

You can get both n71 & n41 in NSA mode but they disabled n41 in SA mode (NR only) on a12. It mainly only affects if you force it to NR only mode (which I don't recommend unless your market has reliable VoNR active) and you want the n71-n41 SA CA, I'm NSA mode (NR / LTE) it has no real affect (unless T-Mobile decides to enable n71-n41 CA in NSA mode).

The Google/T-Mobile thing is from T-Mobile play. I removed it with adb and it went away. Now it looks like the normal Google discover page.
With new update OEM unlocking is now available. Can we now root and install custom ROMS? Is there twrp available for us yet? Sorry havent been in the root game for years n hope someone can point me in right direction or to even convert to global. Thanks n sorry in advance if answer is easy to find. I havent had phone that was rootable for years n im wondering if this is a over sight by oneplus cuz my phone is not paid off lol and OEM unlocking is usually grayed out

Wait. Because on global C44 update I had working band 41. You're telling me the T-Mobile version loses band 41 as well? It's the only band I get usable data at home with.
in old versions and all other phones n41 gave me 40+Mbps at home. Randomly I've gotten 150+Mbps. With this new A12 I'm stuck only getting maximum 20 but realistically 1-5.

I don't want the left page period. Unfortunately, looks like we are stuck with it. I read an article that said there is no way to remove it just like being stuck with only having 5 seconds for custom notification sounds.

No, that's not what I'm saying. B41 / N41 works on every version of a11 and a12. The difference is that since a12 on the global release at least n41 SA (only connecting to 5G stand alone, not aggregating with LTE) was disabled. N41 in NSA mode (NR + LTE still works without an issue on n41/n71) still works as normal. Was just trying to see if the T-Mobile a12 update had 41 SA enabled since global still doesn't.

Ok. So in NSG I always would only use n41 to get my fast speed at home. So tonight I'll try n41/71 to see if I can get those fast speeds again.
And I noticed this slower speed only in c47 not in C44 for the short amount of time I had it fwiw.
I considered swapping back to TMobile version because Sprint/T-Mobile is the only carrier that uses this band in USA. So maybe they activate it on their phones.
Edit: important also to add I had to use the magisk data module to even get data at all because of the two sim card thing. Since we have two you have to trick it to use one or whatever

Yeah, would be interesting to see if the a12 T-Mobile update has n41 SA re-enabled or not. Frustrating that they removed it from the global US a12 updates though. Not familiar with the data module that you had to use since I have the unlocked version, but wouldn't think it would change anything, unless it's reflashing the modem from a11, which then n41 SA should still be enabled. Why I was hoping someone would post their a12 T-Mobile modem. I would try and flash it on my unlocked variant and see if it enabled it or not (if it would even boot with it). If you do update to the T-Mobile a12, could you pull your modem.img and post it?

Yeah. I'll reflash to T-Mobile and root. Extract the modem and see what it does for you. IDK too much but I'm pretty sure I can back it up with partition backup and upload. Where can I upload?

Not sure if partition backup uses .img for backup or not. If so it should be fine, if not wouldn't work. I usually just use the MSM tool to pull the partitions. All you have to do is open MSM tool, press F11, choose modem_a and modem_b, password is OnePlus and hit okay. After, put phone in EDL and connect to computer and hit the read back option in MSM tool. It will save the files to your C: drive. It's also a great way to root newer updates when we don't have the full download, we can just use it to pull boot.img and patch it. Either way just upload to wherever GDrive, mega, whatever and post link. I appreciate it.

Updating to a12? Very possible. I've heard issues with T-Mobile a12 update. There's also still plenty of issues with global a12 update. As far as modem, I was just curious if they enabled other bands on T-Mobile modem compared to the global one. I can always look later and see if the link to the full T-Mobile a12 update has been posted, if so I can just extract it myself.
