After hours of reading i decide to post im really stresfull with this situation. i bought a phone trough ebay i live in dominican republic but when i insert the SIM CARD say " NO SIM CARD" like if i had not put anything. i saw in the post that sprint has somehting modified to dont let no one activate the phone until we call them. i was trying to call them but there are asking me for a phone number and the phone doesnt have any phone number like the CDMA always do.
PLEASE!! there is any way to remove that security and unlock the phone without call sprint ?
if there is any how can i do that because i dont want to lose the money that i paid and im very needing this phone.
i tried lot of thing like the ##3282 and enable the LTE , BAND 26 AND 41 also i have my msl code but nothings appears to work.
Do i need to sell the phone for parts or i will need to wait till someone resolve this problem bz as i think is a software solution ....
Thanks for all

I think you should wait a little longer before selling it for parts as I think this is definitely a software solution.

Need unlock code from Sprint for international use... they unlock over network. Still, shouldn't say no SIM card, try another.

I've tried 3, all of them say no sim card.
Bottom line you shouldn't have bought the Sprint model. Sprint sends out the unlock code/unlocks the phone over their network and you being in the D.R, you're out of luck.

It's not as complex as you are making it out to be, don't crush people's hope if you don't have facts behind it. Yes it wasn't a good idea to get the sprint one, but the deed is already done. Both the S4 and the HTC ONE were unlocked without sprint sometime after their release, I believe it will be the same case for the G2.

...and you have the "facts" that the G2 will be unlocked or you just want to "believe"? This belief of yours is based on what facts exactly? The HTC One and S4 are/were much more massively popular devices and attract much more attention. You are chastising me for being a realist yet all you're giving the O.P is your belief, just that.
I'm not crushing anyone's hope (where in blazes did you even get that from ). Why suffer through the wait for an unlock when the choice is there for O.P to get rid of it for as much as he/she can still get for it and get the GSM version.

Pretty sure sprint g2 say no sim card because it's locked. Usually a phone would say invalid or ask for a code but not the g2. Cmiiw

Hi,
Happy New Year everyone!!
I'm in India and am getting a great deal on a Sprint LG G2. Only thing is that i have yet to find an unlock for it. Do the codes given by the unlock sites work? Or does anyone have any sort of idea/clue?
Please keep this thread alive. The price difference for me is substantial and I have kept my purchase of the LG G2 on hold for the moment.
If anyone can help I would be really grateful.
Regards,
George Mathews
sometimes they can also give you unlock instructions thro email so what I would do is call sprint and ask whats the worse they can say? all they can really say im sorry but we cant help? I would really just call sprint
I just got the tmobile model I paid 100 bucks more than the sprint model on craigslist. I dont have sprint service and they told me that i have to have a 2 year contract with them. That they wont do prepaid plans to this phone.. Ridiculous but that's how they work. As Sprint i dont think they will unlock your phone since you didn't bought it from them.

Sprint's international phones get unlocked OTA (Over The Air) while registered on the network, meaning the unlock codes/mechanism are sent to the phone from Sprint itself. Unlocker websites will not work.
Other alternative is to wait for someone to develop an unlock solution like they did for the Sprint HTC One and Galaxy S4.
...or get a proper GSM LG G2 variant.
Oh, you guys are going to laugh... it's so simple... edit /system/build.prop and change ro.build.target_operator=SPR to ro.build.target_operator=OPEN
THAT'S ALL FOLKS! I see this is from last month, but some may not know that yet, and I came here by Google search, because my stupid phone which is an active Sprint phone started showing no SIM card, and I can't figure out how to make it go away.

Edit prop file in systen folder and remove Spr in: xxx.carrier=SPR
Basically delete SPR at the end of the line. And your sim will work. Verified.
Hope this helps someone. I get so much from this forum and hopefuly I can give back.

Download ROM toolbox which has a built in build.prop editor (You must be rooted to do this). If you're doing this, change the OPEN to spr (lower case) and then reboot, otherwise you will get system UI crashes.
But... there is now a permanent unlock for the ls980. Please check the Sprint section.

Hello forum. How are you? Hope well. First of all ,sorry if my english isn't perfect, I live in Argentina and we use spanish as our language.
Well, the thing is that I buyed a LG G7 ThinQ 710em on amazon and when it arrived it says "European Sim card only" and, I've readed that I need to get an European SimCard for at least 20 minutes to unlock it and began using it with my LatinAmerican sim later. The thing is that here we cant get an european sim card.
So, there's a flash or something to do to bypass this? I know how to root phones and some more, but I've been a IOs user for like the last 4 years and im a little bit rusty
Thanks in advice for all your help!
I can send you an european sim for 10usd plus transportation, but will that work in your country?

The thing is that in argentina we cant get international deliverys. But really thanks for the help dude. really really appreciate it
is it possible to Flash an international FW then any sim "could" be ok?
European SIM would be no help for your problem. Your phone has to be login in an European network using European SIM for at least 20 min. Flashing another fw does not deactivate the region lock.

Hi, I have the same problem for 2 months. This European does not help it is necessary to activate the phone in Europe. With the purchase of the unlock code, the problem also became, apparently lg fixed the work of their bases. Stitched on EMW, in my case it is useless. One master undertook to help us, but he needed a dump from an already unlocked EM phone. To disassemble where the lie is now sewn up the lock function and the trigger that checks it.
wow! that complicated ha.
I was thinking that they would just produce "one" allinone phone then just flash to whatever region you belong & re-flashing would solve the problem - yes? No?

I couldn't get my locked T-Mobile to work so planning to sell.
I bought a Unlocked Verizon G8 and I got it working for the most part but couldn't make or receive phone calls on it. I think the phone app had too much specific Verizon stuff. Ended up returning it
The Sprint version is a mess. Trust me.
I got my locked to Sprint. It works fine so far in the UK when I put my sim in it.

Are you sure it's not unlocked? Mine is brand new out of the box and I just get no Service, and a little note saying invalid sim in the drop down menu.
Has anyone manage to have one of these unlocked outside of going by the book with sprint?
All the services i've asked either said they can't do it, or said they could at first, then just sent me a refund pretty much straight back.
I don't mind paying for the service but it seems nobody is there yet.
Anyone know anything I don't?

They said it was locked to Sprint but also said it would work in UK. I hope you get it sorted. I'm having the same problem with the V50. I'm guessing the o my solution is if someone request the unlocking code from the manufacturer. Which can take a week or so.

The problem for the unlock code with the sprint G8 (and I gather some of the other phones too) is that they don't request an unlock code with an alternate SIM. There's a bunch of other codes you can enter to get the unlock code thing to pop up..... doesn't work.
It looks like the solution for the same thing on the Sprint G7 is for them to remote in using teamviewer or anydesk and work their magic.
I guess I could see if I can get my hands on a properly smashed up, non screen functional, unlocked phone, and transplant the board. But not really something I want to do with a brand new phone.
Partially hobbled by the lack of popularity I guess, you can find someone to do pretty much anything done to a Samsung

Im really hoping these codes work for you (option 2 or 3). I didn't for me unfortunately.
Unlocking instruction for LG G8 ThinQ ?
How to enter an unlock code in a LG G8 ThinQ:
Second option (device doesn't ask for an unlock code with an unaccepted SIM)
1. Start the device with an accepted simcard (example LG G8 ThinQ was bought in Orange you need to insert an Orange card)
2. Go to the dial screen and press “2945#*model number#” (the same way you enter a phone number)
Example: the device is a P999 you need to enter “2945#*999#” or for KU990 you need to enter “2945#*990#” etc…
Third option (accepted simcard)
1. Go to dial screen and press 2945#*71001# or 2945#*20001# as if making a call
2. when a hidden window appears enter the unlock code
Thanks Agent.M
I appreciate you looking into it. I've tried all those codes on mine and they don't work.
From what I gather, Sprint has used some sort of different locking method that can't be undone by entering a code.
It looks like it was the same on the LG G7 and the solution involved cross flashing some software. The services offering to do it all remote in using team viewer or similar and do it for you.
There was a thread running on the G7 forum for it the sprint unlock, this G8 thread doesn't seem to have nearly as much activity on it. And doesn't look like LG is being helpful with unlocking the boot loader.
I'm a bit sad, I put a lot of thought into which phone to get. We've only got the G8s locally, and it's not quite the same phone.
I'm going to return it and I guess burn the $100 in postage, return postage, restock fees etc. I'm not really happy to sit on it for another 6 months until someone works out an unlock for it. With my luck, someone will probably crack it next week after I send it off.
Unlock codes don't work on this phone.
There's no way to enter it.
Also. Suspicious post is suspicious.
It kinda sucks that this phone still can't be unlocked from Sprint using a 3rd party option. Because of the lack of attention, I'm afraid that LG phones might be leaving the scene just like HTC.
I ended up returning my g8 and getting a v40 new unlocked locally.
It's freaking enormous but we only got the g8s here which isn't any smaller.
Hence chasing the g8. I wanted something a sensible size.
My sprint phone have a major issue, it was randomly rebooting several times per day. I got sick of it and did a full reset, it made things even worse, I somehow lost the sprint boot up logo and now it just endlessly reboots until I shut it down completely.
Is there anyway to do flash it back to the original stock firmware?
My Sprint G8 (sim unlocked) from america is working with my Irish sim on GSM/UMTS only.........so no mobile data. There doesn't seem to be an option to add an APN.
It cost me 400 dollars including shipping and duties.............kinda expensive for a pocket camera!!!
Love the phone and will go to any lenghts to get it sorted.....but it's not looking good.

I'd love to hear details......did you buy the phone from US seller or did you bring it to the UK yourself, after using it on Sprint in the US?
Did your UK SIM register on your UK provider and have you got mobile data?
Could you post some screenshot from your "about phone" menu and also your APN setting from your Network menu?
I can't get my Sprint G8 working in Ireland on my data network (works on GSM, calls and texts only)

I'm having the exact same issue with my LG G8
- As We only have G8s in EU, I bought AT&T G8 from US eBay. Used it for a month without any issues and then suddenly MM#6 error.
- Went to AT&T "unlock phone" page and entered my IMEI. It said the phone is lost or stolen.
- Contacted the eBay seller, they told it should be unlocked and sent me an unlock code. I entered the unlock menu (2945#*820#) and all options gave the same result "Phone is not Personalized", which should mean that there is no lock on the unit and I did not have an option to even enter the unlock code. But there is still the MM#6 error.
So a bit clueless as to what to do now and based on this thread it seems like there is no solution to this. The phone seems to be locked by some other method.
I have never owned an LG phone before and just wanted to try it out. Guess it's an expensive lesson
edit: just after posting this, I got answer back from my carrier - the phone is blacklisted. So that's and anticlimactic end to the story
It's a pity......the handset is amazing.
There are a community of people trying to get this sorted.
The problem seems to be that your phone is trying to register on the ATT network and it can't........and there is no way to change the settings needed for it to register onto your network.
Can you post a screenshot of your APN screen in Network Settings.

Hi all
I've spent last hour to try find answer for my problem in xda forum, without success. I hope that someone could shed more light and then I will know where to dig in (maybe ROMs, kernels etc)
I don't want to put this thread in general questions about LG G8, as I have feeling that if there is a solution it will be in this subject.
I just received my phone today (ordered via ebay from China) and 1st impression was that it's locked as information appeared "SIM card in not from Verizon Wireless" and there was no network conenction. However after digging and contacting Verizon directly I got confirmation that phone is unlocked.
In the meantime I've noticed that it gets some very weak signal now and then. After some more digging I get to conclusion that this version of the phone is not comaptybile with band frequencies here in UK.
Can someone tell me if this is the issue and if there is a solution for it? Is it software thing or hardware and I can forget about using this phone normally?
Details of the phone:
Andriod: 10
Soft version: G820UM20j
Model number: LM-G820UM, this is from phone settings, but I think it should be "B" at the end for Verizon?!
Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts.
Kind Regards
Tom
