Question Pixel 6 Pro Battery Tips - Google Pixel 6 Pro

I am daily driving the 6 pro, and the battery is not as good as the 5, is there a way to downscale the resolution to 1080p or make the phone to run at 90hz?

60hz would save more battery... found this.

Remove unecessary notifications for one, disable 5G aka put it in LTE, lower the brightness less taxing on your battery, you can restrict apps so they don't wakeup your phone.

I am using the 6 pro about a month now, here is what I did and my battery life is now lasting the full day with about 20/30% at evening time
1) changed refresh rate from 120hz to 60hz
2) switch off music identifier on lock screen
3) switch off always on display (clock on lock screen)

Wake up at 5am with 100%
Now 6pm 64% of the battery
I like it

battary life drains so bad(version1.28)

I charged my HTC ONE X to 100%, took it out of the charger and I have now been 1h 37m 46s on battery, and it ALREADY has drained to 70% !!!
what my phone uses or so it says :
screen 78%
cell standby 6%
android OS 5%
android system 4%
phone idle 4%
whatsapp 3%
what does it mean 78% screen? that my screen is the big killer for my drain? because that would make non sense since I have not had it on that much..and still.....30% in 1.3hours? that's just insanely bad!
stock rom from Holland btw...didn't change a single thing to my phone since I do not know how....
any input on why it drains so rapidly?
thanks!
I would post a screenshot but I don't have ''root'' access'' or something lol sorry!

firstly you can take a screenshot by pressing power button and home button at
the same time..
how old is the phone?
you are ok bro. for me it drained 17% with 15 minutes screen on time.
this is one big lol.
i am struggling to get 7 hours battery life
If you don't mind the effects on warranty, there are some system mods things that can be done to improve battery life...
Otherwise try turning off extra wireless services, and lowering the brightness on your screen.
I was getting 8-9 hours outa my battery, since rooted and flashed leedroid's rom and I got 26 hours with 30% to go....
what a difference.....
Basically in android, especially LCD screens, you can expect under 3 hours of continual screen use in daily activities. Often way under.
I've gone through a Motorola Milestone, Samsung Galaxy S and Nexus S, HTC Sensation and now One X. None of them broke the three hour mark for screen on time.
Standby and other use, sure, you can push a day or so but the screen is the major killer. Even with 1900mAh after-market batteries for the Sensation I was just about pushing 2.x hours. Screen usually on auto, but often inside buildings.
Counter to what may seem obvious is that if you have WiFi available - use it. It uses less power than the data connection on cellular networks and can improve standby time by a fair bit. Assuming you use push notifications and the like.

is rooting hard? i searched it on the internet but the only thing i found was some half-assed english site trying to explain what to do...couldn't follow it, and also it didn't work :/
I don't know all the terms etc they use so that makes it quite a fair bit harder for me!
Two Questions:
- What are your Brightness settings?
(Settings - Display & gestures - Brightness)
- Do you have Wifi/3G constantly on?
(Settings - Wireless & networks: is Wi-Fi and/or Mobile network: ON?)
How to improve Battery drain:
- Go to: Settings - Display & gestures - Brightness:
and untick: Automatic brightness
with your finger slide the brightness level to much lower than it is now (I have it at only 1/4)
confirm with: OK
- Whenever you do not need to be online (internet), make sure to switch off Wi-Fi and Mobile network
- Switch off notifications for e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Email (you need to open each app and in the Menu have to untick notifications)
From personal experience, I can tell you that having internet on constantly aka WhatsApp sending notifications for each chat message, Facebook and Email sending notifications, ... costs you a lot of battery
Brightness at full level also drains battery badly.
- Following above-mentioned tips, you will get a standby time on the HTC One X of up to 2 full days.
Hope I could help a bit.

You need to get on leedroid Currently on 71% battery also, but slight difference in how i got there:
16hrs standby
half hour screen on (auto brightness)
5 mins calls,
3g/wifi/locations always on.
Very light usage day for me, but it's very different results to yours
M.
edited for clarity/typos
who would you have your phone on standby for 16hours....I used it more than half an hour a day (half hour screen on as you said) so that says nothing for me lol
and my screen has low brightness but that doesn't really seem to effect it THAT much, but yesn i do have 3d on constantly aswel as fb whatsapp etc...but I do need to be in contact with people so I guess there nothing to fix :/ except maybe a ligh rom but i have no idea how that works haha, might search youtube
I have the same problem but i'm actually using the phone.
As a heavy user (and i mean heavy user) i've yet to get more than 3 hours on screen time with this. once i used it for only 2hours 20 mins and the battery was dead. I'm rooted running leedroid and the battery life is very bad for onscreen time.
Anyone else getting these figures.
hi guys..
i am on stock rom updated to latest but having problems with my battery
take a look at the screenshot. i currently have 30% battery.
as you can see from almost 11 hours of my latest charge 9hours and 20 mins
my phone was at deep sleep.(only 1hour and 40 mins of light usage)
when its locked it shows excelent battery (1% per hour) but after an hour passes and even if i just unlock it and browse a bit my phone ,i lose 5-6% .
my phone is 4days old only.
maybe the problem is just temporary?
thnx in advance for any help.
I'm using an App called 'Screen Adjuster', in which you can set the screen brightness (say 50%), and then auto adjust brightness within the selected range (50% range).
You can adjust the brightness anytime, I found it is very handy because the original auto brightness is simply too bright.
One drawback is that you can click to install 3rd party apk with this App running, don't know why, but just for your reference.
This is what i get.
With surfing a little bit gaming and chatting.

Share your power consumption with ambient mode ENABLED?

After far too long of shockingly-bad battery life from the stock Moto 360 with no apps at all installed and power consumption of as much as 8% per hour -- and multiple failures to even get to the end of the day without having to recharge, let alone get multiple days -- I want some feedback from my fellow Moto 360 users:
I DO NOT WANT YOU TO REPLY UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
* Latest firmware installed
* --> Ambient mode enabled <--
* Auto brightness or brightness level 1 (the lowest)
If you do, please reply noting your typical battery life in hours and/or your typical hourly power consumption. Please also note whether you have Motorola Connect installed, whether you have any other Wear apps installed, whether you have a watch face other than the default, and how much the watch is being used.
My goal here is to get a ballpark for what power consumption should be with Ambient mode enabled. Please, if you do not have Ambient mode enabled, do not reply.
Have you tried rebooting your phone in the morning, before you take the watch off the charger? Before i did that, i was getting about 7% drain per hour, after doing that for the past few days, i've gotten the following: 4.9%, 3.4%, 3.6%.
Currently, i am not using any facer watchfaces, just the Moto Rotate face.

Thanks for the tip. Rebooting the phone should have precisely zero effect on the watch's power consumption; I'm pretty certain this is nothing more than placebo effect. I'll give it a try tomorrow though, just to rule another thing out.
Ambient Mode on. Auto Brightness. No Apps. Latest firmware (whatever is latest on 10/13/14).
I get at least 16 hours. I haven't had it go dead yet. 20-30% left by midnight. I think it got down to 10% once?
Moderate use. Music always playing/updating. Texting/emails are the only method I use for communication and it's fairly frequent (a few notifications an hour) and I occasionally ask it stuff. I never use the heart rate monitor.
Ambient/auto bright. Off the charger at 745 am, it is just about 12 hours later and I am at 20%. This is very typical.
I run a few apps including wear mini launcher but nothing crazy. Motoconnect installed on phone as well. All software current.
Ambient on, auto mode.
I wear it from 2 days, yesterday I've had about 15 hrs (7am to 10pm before death). Moderate use, some notifications per hour and about 20min of navigation. Didn't receive calls or used cardio. Stock watchface and some apps installed.
I also got 15 hours from 100% to 2%, with ambient ON. I don't expect much more without a substantial software update on both the phone and watch sides.
I did this yesterday and the watch had used 12% every hour. I constantly shook it to keep the screen on, every time the screen faded out.
My 360's battery life has actually been much better than I expected, even with Ambient Mode On. I've been using it for about a week with ambient mode enabled, brightness at level 3, and I still get about 20 hours. I've got a few Wear apps installed, like Wear Mini Launcher and one or two others. Without ambient mode turned on, I get about 24 hours or so. I expected the battery to be terrible after all the reviews but so far I've lucked out on my 360.
Off the charger at 730 am and dead at 9pm. I love the watch and will suck it up and deal with it but the battery life sucks.
Mine consumes about 4.5-5% per hour with ambient on, medium usage.
Kinda double than I get with ambient off.
No one is running facer, right? My battery life seriously sucks with this app.
I get about 12-15hrs before its completely drain.I have ambient light on auto brightness as well.Couple face watches nothing fancy updated to the latest firmware.

I was off the charger at 745 yesterday and dead at 615 which is my worst day ever. I do get a ton of notifications due to work email. I turned off ambient for today and cannot believe the difference. Ambient mode uses at least 2x the battery vs not having it enabled.
Off the charger at 745, it is now 2 pm and I am at 83%. I didn't expect it to be this drastic of an improvement.
I really like ambient mode, but it is tough to justify when the watch is dead in 12 hrs due to it.

Couldn't agree more. In my opinion, ambient mode is simply not a feature of this watch because it is not usable. And that's with a brand-new battery, too. Two years from now, you'll likely have to recharge twice a day just to get through the day with ambient mode enabled.
I have ambient mode on and use Facer and and I can last a full day from averagely 0830 to sometimes around 0100 in the morning. Lowest I've gotten is to around 4% and that was almost near 0200.
But my stats are from light to moderate use. Didn't use navigation or other apps extensively, just time checking and occasional clearing of notifications.
I find the responses here interesting. Maybe I just have a great model. I admit that I probably have what people would consider light usage (it's a damn watch not a phone!) so take it with a grain of salt I guess. But with ambient mode *ON*, I've been going from about 9-10am to 12am (14-15 hours) and ending the night at 66%! I turn off the watch, and then use it for another day the following day. Today, would have counted as my 3rd day in the row without a charge, but it was at like 25%, so I charged it for about 5-10 mins (not sure what percentage it was at.. probably like 30-32%), and went from around 10am to 4-5pm. So basically 2.25 days or so of battery life with light usage. Oh, I also use a black background, and stock "classic" face which probably contributes to this as well.
128
I did a test over 2 days, first one with Ambient Off and second with Ambient On. It was "scientific" as the usage varied slightly (i.e. I used it as and when I needed on that day) and found that on day one at 10pm I still had 20% battery left and on day two when I got home from work at 18:30 I had 15% left and it was dead by 10pm.
With the news Im hearing about the watch being more responsive to wrist movement and turning off I will be using it with Ambient Off. Im satisfied with the battery life - I put my phone on charge every night already, no harm in also doing the watch especially as its so simple.

13-Hour Screen-on-Time Battery Life?

Recently bought this phone and am getting 6-8 hours SoT at half brightness in 1 day.
I feel this is surprisingly low, considering many reviewers on YouTube are getting up of 10+ hours, with one even reaching 13 hours /watch?v=31twODBCnNU skip to 8.20 mins.
Through gsam it looks like apps account for 70% of drain (screen only 30%?), of which most seems to come from Kernel (Android OS) and Android System (see image links). I am worried this is what is draining my battery.
What SoT are people getting and how much battery is being used by Kernel (Android OS) and Android System?

If cell signal reception is good I get upto 10 hrs. In my work place signal is poor so getting around 7-8 hrs. Overall get 1-1.5 days easily
I can second that. In optimal conditions I get up to 10 hours of SoT.
Have you disabled any apps and services to get that SoT? I disabled some google apps i don't use, facebook app and some more, disabled aod, double tap to wake and still can't get more than 7-8 hours.
Never gotten 10 hours before. How did your manage that? Anyone else want to share their SoT?
My average SOT with medium usage (Browser, Youtube, Telegram etc) is 10+ hours. Wifi only, no cellular, bluetooth off, gps off, nfc off, auto sync off, brightness 60%, night mode on, black theme on most apps even keyboard, disabled a lot of samsung/google apps with package disabler, disabled all bixby stuff, aod off, all the gestures off except palm swipe, power saving mode medium with CPU limited at 70% (no lag whatsoever PUBG plays fine)
With heavy usage (PUBG) battery drains 10-12% per hour
I get 7 hours SOT with heavy usage , gps Bluetooth, 4g on both sims ,all other services active , still get 7 hours .
Sent from my SM-A705FN using Tapatalk
Can anyone post screenshots of their usage through device care/gsam app drain?
I usually get close to 11 hours with 20-25% brightness and adaptive power saving on.
Sync, location and wifi always on.
AOD - tap to show.
Overnight standby power drain is excellent...WiFi and mobile on.

I get around 6-7 hours.. Wifi, mobile data, auto sync and AOD are always on. Never used any power saving feature. Playing clash royale and PUBG for about 45 minutes daily.
I usually get around 6-7 hours, but thats with heavy gaming and bad mobile data signal reception and with 20-25% battery remaining, cuz I think draining the battery often will affect the lifespan of the battery.
Off topic but I just want to ask, is 3gb ram used by the system normal? I have the 6gb ram variant.

Battery sot questions

While web browsing, at 120hz, i loose about 1% every 5 minutes, this totals at about 7 hours screen on time.
Idle times seems to be about 1% an hour, is this normal?
Here are my average stats for the last 7 days. I charge my phone over night, so these are "idle" stats during the day (phone in the pocket, active whastapp web etc.). 120Hz active + automatic brightness.
Your idle usage sounds ok, screen on is a bit too much.
Its hard to compare the screen on time stats since i use GSam, which display stats a bit deferent (percentage per discharge not per hour), i believe you use AccuBattery?? will continue collecting data while i wait for my bootloader to unlock, will switch to EU, see if that helps.
Yes, I always use apps which measure screen on/off discharge per hour and separately, in this case it's AccuBattery. That's probably the only reliable way how to compare battery consumption between phones or between ROMs/kernels etc. Also it allows to quickly see if there is some issue or rouge app which prevents deep sleep for example.

Question Pixel 6 Pro SOT

Hi all
Those who already received their phones, can you post SOTs?
I'm got 6 hours 40 minutes SOT with 16% battery yesterday with pretty much everything activated: AOD, Now Playing, Double Tap Back, live wallpaper, screen attention, haptics, google hotword detection, life to wake, tape to wake. All things that could be turned off to try and save that little bit extra battery.
The flip side is I do keep my screen brightness fairly low in general so that will help extend battery life.
This was the first day so YMMV. I am using AccuBattery so over the first week I'm going to keep an eye on the cycles and see how the figures average out. so far it says:
11.7% per hour Screen on usage
1.7% per hour Screen off usage
8 hours 31 minutes SOT estimated over full battery discharge
57 hours 14 minutes Screen off battery time over full battery discharge
combined

Yeah, it's early to say to be honest but it wasn't like I was at minimum brightness. I was indoors so maybe half brightness for a lot of the time.
Day one the phone is doing a lot in the background as well so it takes a few days for things to settle.
If I were to guess, I don't think it will be a battery champ, but conversely I don't think it would be fair to say it has bad battery life either. This is all fully stock too so once we get custom kernels and ROMs I can imagine battery performance improving
Can we get some more SOT screenshots please? That really helps others (like me) to consider this phone.
