Hello,
I have a problem with mac address on Oneplus 9 pro LE15BA OOS 11.2.10.10. Every time i reboot device i see slightly different mac address in settings even though i disabled mac randomization in wifi settings. Has anyone run into the same problem?
I just got a Oneplus 9 LE2115 and am seeing the same issue, my Unifi control panel is littered with mac addresses from the same phone (one for each reboot) even though i chose "Device MAC" for that SSID!
The problem is the Device MAC itself keeps changing.
So. Dumb.
.
You could log it as a fault on the OnePlus community forum, they'll ask you to supply logs.
Have anyone solve this problem?

So glad I found this post! I have the same problem on my OP9 with Unifi, but it's infuriating me as I have MAC address filtration setup so it's breaking my wifi security situation. Has anyone else figured out how to solve this? If not, this phone is completely unusable on my home network. My 10 Pro does not have this issue.

It seems to be a bug specific to the op9 a12 update. One idea is to root your phone and force the MAC, at least until it's fixed properly

Ah good to know, thanks for the reply. Did you read this in another post?
I am rooted, and have seen mention of using an Xposed module, but I'd rather not mess with that as I have had issues with it in the past and don't have a real need for any specific Xposed functionality.
Also have seen the following command
busybox config <net int> hw ether XX:XX:XX:YY:YY:YY, but unsure if this would be risky.
Any thoughts?
I'm wishing A13 would come out of beta....hopefully that'll fix it

I haven't used macchanger in years but there used to be multiple versions in the play store. They all required root. They did all work at the time but this was pre-magisk. I haven't looked for a magisk module that may do the same. Or if termux (or termux+busybox) may support macchanger or setting device mac like you show in your example.
I read that this is a bug on OP9 a12 on reddit and also on xda. I also came across the following information in this thread:
[MOD][XPOSED][12-13] MACsposed - Restore support for setting custom MAC addresses on Android 12 and 13.

MACsposedHistorically, setting a custom MAC address on Android was very easy for rooted users. Starting with Android 12, however, Google's implementation of MAC address randomization has made it impossible, as the MAC address is always changed when the network state is altered. If you have encountered this problem, then you need MACsposed! MACsposed is an Xposed module that blocks the MAC address randomizer on Android 12 and 13 and allows you to once again make use of your favorite tools for setting your MAC address

I haven't tried it but I'm positive there is a way to achieve setting the Mac, whether xposed, magisk, or busybox/tools available, someone will have it available. Sorry I don't know more yet. Please report back what you find out, for others facing the same problem.
As for it being risky, write down your real MAC before you do anything for peace of mind. I hope there's a magisk module available, I don't particularly like using xposed for the same reason as you, had a few modules causing weird stuff to happen years ago and try to avoid it whenever possible
Goodluck.

You probably didn't put the bw~ driver in your /sdcard root. Also, check wifitether's log to see if any steps were highlighted "red"

I have the .bin file in the folder & location you specified, fwiw I also have checked the forum search for issues with the wifi tether and didn't see anything regarding how i'm having issues.
i figured a new post with what my situation is with having root, flashed recovery and working wifi N would also be unique
Wifi Tether log shows no red log entries
am i supposed to do something in recovery?
I did some reading around and apparently Infrastructure mode isn't available for Incredible yet (which would explain why it won't show up on any of my wifi devices) instead AD Hoc mode is only available, which i didn't test
AD Hoc does work but has anyone gotten infrastructure working on the Incredible yet? if not, thats what my problem is, and i'll be patiently waiting for the update to come through
Edit: I got it working!! Infrastructure mode now shows up on my TP2, going to test other devices later
Yah, As far as I can tell...even with the newest pre-release version from the google code site Infrastructure mode isn't supported on anything running our firmware...I hope it comes soon too, would be much better for supporting other devices.
So last month I was following a tutorial on how to install ManageIQ. One of the steps involved pasting someone elses JSON on my google cloud account. That part of the tutorial was now changed with "generate your own private key".
Well, next thing I know my entire network got hacked, every single device too, my gmail account completely stolen, all passwords included etc. I didnt know that pasting someone elses Json key was basically giving access of everything to someone else.
The LG G4 was infected with some kind of malicious **** that as soon as I turn it on and connect it to my network, it opens my network to everyone.
The problem is ; I cant remove the rootkit because I cant root the phone. When I try to do it, I get a "this phone is from singapore and cant be unlocked" (?) message on he LG page, even tho its an International LG G4 H815 and shouldnt have this problem.
Yes, I already made several factory resets and using both methods (volume key down and by just doing it through the Opions menu), already tried with a brand new google account after one of these resets but still nothing. Same results. Today was ver obvious that the my phone was one of the issues because everything on my network was working fine until I decided to turn the g4 on after like 2 weeks..I wanted to check whatsapp.. And then I started to see random processes on my PC, ipsec, ssh enabled on my router, people getting access to the webcams of all devices (Im not joking) and all the nightmarish stuff Ive been suffering all this time. It came back once again.
One thing I noticed is that theres a ton of credentials that looks weird. Could someone with a clean lg g4 upload pictures of their credentials page on their phone? Also I cant remove all credentials because its greyed out.
Will upload screenshots of my credentials, later, so you can see and maybe tell me if something looks shady.
Solutions? Thanks.
EDIT: Here are all the credentials I got:
imgur . com / a / lA66Z
It gives me the option to encrypt and sd i dont have, altho I read this is a common issue.
I didnt take direct screenshots because im scared of plugging this into my PC right now so I just took photos. These pictures were taken right after a factory reset (low volume key method), just now.

Ok, installed using LGUP, refurbish option.
The certificates are still there tho.
Can I assume my phone is safe now ?

No security expert here, nor programmer, just a reader of these forums. But it seems pretty unlikely to me that you would have caught something that gets so deep into the system that it's still there after an lgup flash.
I have a bunch of things (about 40, maybe?) in the trusted credentials, too, so I guess that's normal?

After flashing the kdz your phone is clean if it was infected but! if you restore apps you may get infected again (IF it was a smartphone virus).
The trusted certificate authorities in your screens looking fine and the reason why you cannot remove them is they are coming with the android OS.
Your main problem seems to me your PC or PCs . I would run an offline antivirus scan with a boot ISO. I would do it in 2 steps. Step 1 would be to run the AV boot ISO scan on your system partitions only to see if it find anything. Do this with different scanners is highly recommended!!
If you found something I recommend to reinstall the OS! Cleaning is no 100% choice.
You should download at least 2 (3 are the top most I would use) of the free boot ISOs:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/13-anti...-compared-in-search-for-the-best-rescue-disk/
You can make your life easier when using a method to make multiple boot ISOs e.g. on one USB stick:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/integra...ne-single-disc-or-usb-flash-drive-with-sardu/
If you really do not want to reinstall your OS the next step is to scan ALL your data as well.
To be honest the above can be a VERY time consuming process and there will be still a risk that not every virus can be caught. The only chance to be clean is reinstall the OS of your PC. I assume it is windows so it may be the time to think about installing Linux instead the security concept of Linux is different to windows and keep in mind that 95% of viruses target windows systems.

Hi everyone,
I really need device encryption in order to be able to use my tablet with a work profile.
Has anyone ever done this with this device?
I have tried with LOS 17.1 and 14.1 by @davidmueller13 but unfortunately it reboots, then tells me it is encrypting (with the pending time displayed) and after that reboots again. I am then prompted to put in my pin (which I set before of course) and after that it is just stuck at the bootscreen / LOS logo for hours.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
With the P605 and various other older devices w/o encryption by default and a custom rom, all my attempts ended with bricking the device...
There may also be a significant performance penalty, the older the device.

with LOS 16 I got it to work
Thanks a lot!!! I am gonna give it a try.
Alright @Tronje , thanks to your advice I have a working encrypted device.
Unfortunately the system patch level it too old. I cannot set up the working profile due to that.
Any further advice?
I am no software expert, but I do not get why in LOS16 this feature works flawlessly while in the other builds it is not supported.

I am also only a user and cannot explain, sorry.
With maas360 In my company everxthing is good for the moment.
I think you have to ask the developer/ maintainer.
Alright, I am one step closer to what I am looking for.
I have managed to encrpyt LOS 14 by reducing my filesystem size via TWRP Terminal in order to gain some space for the crypto footer.
LOS14 has a security patch level sufficient for setting up with Microsoft Intune. Nevertheless, even though my tab is not rooted, Microsoft Intune somehow detects root. Any bright ideas on why that is happening?
I've done many dumb things to this phone but I've finally found something I have not been able to recover from. Let's start with the list of things you guys will have me try that I've already done.
- FlashAll to the latest as well as the "Return to Stock" thread here on XDA
- Lenovo's Recovery Tool (I thought someone on XDA might be wrong about something and went with the Mfg's software, sorry I doubted you guys.)
I'm using linux so I convert your Flash bat to an sh but I've never had issues doing so before. I've rooted this and three other phones and I'd like to think I know what I'm doing I've spent about two weeks on here and other Android forums but this time I need to actually ask for your help.
Now on to my issue.
I installed Lineage OS using their lovely guide and everything was great until I found out my WiFi isn't working. Well can't have that, return to stock! Oh my WiFi is still dead. Wait now I can't even enable dev options because I cannot get past the initial setup without WiFI. OK full reset wipe and restore. Nope nothing doing.
It shows MAC unavailable in the initial setup. adb shell over via recovery shows no wlan0 then I tried TWRP and also OrangeFox because I saw a similar fix with it. I try ip link show but ip isn't there tried to su but it's not going. I think I have eveything mounted right but I'm more Arch than Android :\
And in 5 seconds someone is going to link a thread on here I couldn't find in the search with a easy 3 step procedure. But just in case that doesn't happen feel free to ask for any logs.
I'm a dumb. Be sure you do the Pre-install instructions as these are what fixed my issues.
Hi, is your phone ATT version? Thanks.
I have begun noticing very peculiar occurrences within all the apps on my device. From camera and mic usage, to permissions where they didn't belong, to strange apps I never installed on the device myself... I now understand that my device has been hijacked by malware. Now I know a little more than the average Joe, have rooted a few phones in the past with the help of instructions on this site, but when it comes to removing this rootkit from my device, I am stumped.
I can't get the device to boot into fastboot so I can try reflashing the stock OS, and with no MSM tool for the device, what else is there I can do before I throw it in the trash!? Please help me! I don't know what type of root kid this is as far as malware goes, but if you tell me some things to look for I can maybe that identify the specific type of malware I'm dealing with and how to at least keep this from ever happening again in the future.

Oh and not to mention my bank account has been compromised due to this malware now as well. The laptop I originally plugged the phone into when I was trying to get it into fast boot has also been infected. The only way I fixed it was completely wiping my drive and reinstalling Windows.
Currently the only way I'm keeping the device from connecting back to my Wi-Fi and cell network where it starts to infect more devices of mine, I have it put away in a Faraday cage. So far I haven't had any other attacks on accounts or devices since.

Format data on phone and fixed. Is your bootloader unlocked?
One thing you can do is hard brick the device and take to service centre for replacement or fix using MSM tool. That deletes all partitions and recreates deleting all rootkits. Taking directly to service center, they will just do a fastboot based software fix. Do this only if service centre will fix hard brick devices (based on country). Tell some reason like after software update it stopped booting or something like that. Or you can pay someone online who can fix hard brick devices using OnePlus Auth remotely.

you can boot into fastboot via adb (adb reboot bootloader) and if your bootloader is unlocked you can flash the complete firmware (payload.bin ) with fbe
