Hello everyone,
I'm writing this post because I'm experiencing a rather annoying problem on my Z fold 3 that I didn't have on my S20 Ultra.
I have a physical SIM card for my main plan, and an esim as a secondary plan (mainly for international). Usually, when I'm not travelling, I deactivate my esim to leave only my main plan. This worked very well with my S20 Ultra.
However, here I can't disable the eSIM as it simply doesn't appear in the SIM card manager. My main SIM is shown there but for eSIM it says "+ Add mobile plan". However the SIM card is active as I can surf with it and in the "Mobile Network" menu I can see "Network mode SIM card 1 and 2". I can also select which SIM card is used by default for calls, SMS or mobile data, but it stops there. The esim is not blocked by provider because I can change the esim by another one who works too. But simply impossible to deactivate or delete profile...
Does anyone know if this is normal and how to disable it? I have tried resetting but nothing... I contacted the operator who deactivated it remotely, gave me a new esim, but same problem...
When a go to SIM Manager, a pop up mention that "SIM card is busy", I assume that's concern the esim because I have the same message when I remove the physical SIM card.
The "remove mobile plan" option is greyed out and can't be selected either...
Thank you
Bump. Sorry to reopen an old thread but I am having the exact same issue. I’ve tried reflashing through odin, factory reset, clear cache, etc etc etc. I‘ve thought about trying to repartition (PIT) but I’m not sure that’d work. Any thoughts?

Hi there,
I'm on vaca for one month in Africa and I am trying to use my sim card but I have this message :" Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network "
I tried two different sim cards but I still have the same issue.
Note that the phone was working perfectly yesterday with my Tmobile Sim Card.
It's an international One X so I don't think that I need to unlock it.
Do you guys have any solutions?
Thank you
it sounds like something tmobile end has changed on your account, if possible i'd call them to see if they can help get it working again
other thing to check is the roaming settings, check its enabled etc
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not using that Tmobile sim card anymore. But an Orange one.
Should I factory reset it and see if it'll work?
Thanks
i had this happen on mine, ive got tmobile sim, it went to tmobile orange signal, i tried to manually switch it back to tmobile (better signal coverage) and it said the same thing.
A reboot didnt fix it so i went into settings, storage, make more storage and then cleared all temporary data for all apps.
this seems to temp fix the issue and allows me to reconnect to my peferred network it still happens every now and then so it could be a software gitch with the hox
Just tried it. Didn't work
I will restore it and see how it goes
Even with the New Rom, Superwipe I still have the same issue ?
Hey all,
This may or may not be ROM specific, but I just switched carriers and for the time that my number was being ported, I had both my old SIM card (Net10 on AT&T towers) and my new SIM card (T-Mobile) in the phone. During that crossover time, everything worked fine. In the SIM settings page, the carrier for each SIM and the associated phone number appeared correctly. However, once I removed my old SIM (phone was powered down any time I changed SIMs) the phone still functions fine for calls, texts, and data, but it no longer recognizes the SIM carrier or phone number.
This is made worse, as the carrier has an app that checks the SIM card before running, now, the app just shows "We do not recognize your SIM card".
I also noticed that carrier specific dialer codes no longer function. For example, if you dial #264# you should be presented with the status of T-Mobiles "Binge On" feature, but now it just does nothing once I hit call.
I have tried swapping the SIM between slot 1 and slot 2, I have also tried rebooting numerous times, all to no avail. I'd really prefer to not have to switch ROMs, but if that ends up being the solution, I guess I'll do it.
Any help would be appricated.
Thanks,
Austin

What does your Settings>About Phone>Sim Status show?
There are some apps (root+Xposed required) which edit the number in the sim. You can also input a number if it is blank in the sim.
Failing this, you may have to approach your service provider.

The Phone Number row shows as Unknown in there as well. However, if I insert my old sim in the other sim slot it then shows my correct phone number.
So the number is there in the sim, but for some reason is only read if I have both sims in.
Thinking of getting a 5T (or maybe 6 depending on timing) and have never had a dual-SIM phone. I would have one SIM card for my U.S. Cricket account and use the other slot for a pay-as-you-go "travel SIM" for use in Europe.
So are there settings or a built-in app provided so that I can activate one card at a time? I know it's possible to have both in "standby," but that's not practical in this case since I wouldn't want one of the cards causing the phone to be searching for a tower constantly -- a real battery-killer. I also would want to be able to assign one or the other for data, etc. (The particular travel SIM I have in mind will actually work in the U.S., but then I'd be paying per call, text, and data chunk).
You can enable or disable each card independently. You can choose a default SIM for calling, messaging, and data. The built in messaging app also lets you choose what card to send from with a convenient button in the text entry field. I have attached some screenshots that show the SIM options in the settings menu. I've been using dual SIM for a few days now and find it very easy to manage. Hopefully this answered all your questions.
Perfect answer. Thanks!
Phone looses 4G Data & Call function on turning off data. APN Settings auto deleting.
Hey, I bought a Nokia 6 2018 a couple days ago. Its great but has this one problem. I am using the Indian Model TA-1089.
I have 2 SIM Cards, one is by carrier JIO and another by TATA DOCOMO. I use the JIO SIM as prefered SIM for Data, Calling and SMS. When I put the JIO SIM in SIM Slot 1 and start the phone, it works uptil I turn off Data. Once I turn off Data and let the phone sit for a few mins, the next time I turn on Data the phone doesn't latch onto 4G connection and I don't get internet connection. Also, I cannot place any calls via the same SIM. When I try to place a call, I get a popup saying "Mobile network not available". Although I can receive calls for some reason.
While trying to find the cause of the issue I found out that when the problem occurs, the APN settings are automatically deleted from settings. If I try to manually add APN Profile with the correct values and try to save it, the profile doesn't get saved at all. Also, resetting the APN does nothing.
I tried resetting the network but the problem persists. Factory reset didn't fix it either. Tried another 4G SIM and the same problem occured with it.
Restarting the phone fixes the issue temporarily. So does deactivating and activating it. But its such a hassle.
Surprisingly when I put the JIO SIM in SIM Slot 2, it worked flawlessly. But it still doesn't mean the SIM slot 1 issue is fixed.
Has anyone else had this issue? Please help.
Just updated this morning, we now have eSIM support (supposedly) with the second IMEI showing up in settings. I haven't tested it yet though, so ill try to later today.
Edit:
So my secondary carrier is GoogleFi, which won't recognize the available eSim. So I had to convert my physical TMo sim to an eSIM (permanently disabled your physical sim card). This allowed me to move my GFi card to the phone.
GFi app recognized the sim card and activated, however it looks like Samsung/TMo baked in a TMo network selection feature for this sim. Instead of recognizing that it's GFi with it's networks, you had to select if this card was a TMo/Metro/Assurance carrier. I selected TMo thinking that GFi uses them mostly around my locale that it'll work. However we now get the X on the signal chart.
My guess is this is the good ol network lock coming into play. So we got eSim and 2 sim cards...we're locked to TMo and Metro still. Hopefully better luck for those with Unlocked US phones
I have a Samsung version (still on TMO but not TMO branded) and got the update today with esim too
So new update: becareful with converting your Physical Sim to an eSim. I can't figure out why, and am on the phone with support, but the eSim for TMo doesn't register on the network. wifi-calling works for the eSim, but nothing else. In the Sim card settings, it detects an "unknown" carrier, whereas the GoogleFi (which doesn't work probably due to network lock) at least detected GoogleFi.
Edit:
So...whatever you do, don't listen to Help desk. They had me removing my eSim so that I can do the "scan qr" method even though I did the proper Convert to eSim method previously. The removal doesn't actually remove anything from the phone, so you can't "start over" hoping to try a different method. Even if it could, you disabled the physical sim, so you have no method of receiving the TMo verification codes needed to add a sim card to the phone. You literally lock yourself out of the network until they send you a new physical sim or reactivate your old sim
To reactivate the old sim, while forgoing the text message, is a 10min processs. Fortunately that's probably the most straight forward aspect. The 10min wait is to let the verification process timeout and it'll just activate.
I gotten it 5 days ago I really like the new features
What is esim?

Esim is where you can ditch the actual sim card and your phone have a built-in sim card manager to keep digital copies
I switched one of my other lines to my fold3 esim today (on TMO network) and been on with support for a while now they have no idea the issue. But it detects it as a T-Mobile network but it won't discover the number. It stays as unknown number. Can't use the data, calls or texts but it activated
Edit: after going back and forth with tech support, the issue has reversed itself. Now the esim has a number but no provider lol will keep this post updated
Edit 2: after more back and forth with some escalated executive support team they found the problem and fixed it. It's supposedly a bug in Samsung's esim that needs manual high level settings changed on TMOs end to fix on a per device basis

I'd like to say that after several days with physical sim and esim, I've zero problems. It just works. My only complaint is how voicemail is handled for the 2nd sim.
