I just read the posts. Pretty much all from you, and they're questions, reports on one or two 3rd party app-specific issues, and some cosmetic stuff you don't like. I don't see any major issues being mentioned. Correct?

I thought I did, but maybe I missed a few. Checked again. I don't see them. Saw your extensive review though, thanks for that one. Although difficult to picture for me what exactly you mean with some of them without any accompanying screenshots. But other than that: I'm still not seeing any major issues being mentioned, it's mostly just "annoyances", as you yourself also put it.

That's not surprising at all. It's the reason why Huawei is done as a serious company. Personally speaking, to say its customer support is poor would be a blessing compared to what in reality is utterly, despicably atrocious.
If it were only possible to somehow alter the info in the about page to make it look like your phone's region is North Anerica it is certain they would help you directly, assuming you are from the region.

No worries mate. Thank you for trying

Isn't it true that if we roll back to EMUI 11, we will not be getting security updates anymore ?
I mean, If I'm thinking this the right way, the new security updates will require to download and install EMUI 12 first. Am I wrong on this ?

If it were stolen and "blacklisted", I doubt the device would be working fine.
Unless "blacklisted" is only effective for use in the USA, as Google suggests.
Google:
............... Blacklisted phones can’t be used in the United States, but some companies can unlock them for international use.

Mine is a Verizon phone purchased form UAE, it also shows blacklisted but it works just fine. I receive monthly updates without any problem, even adb sideloaded android pie full OTA when it got released. Main issue with mine is that I cannot unlock its bootloader so obviously can't root it but i believe you can unlock yours and root it.

If it's working and it says it's blacklisted, it's probably a U.S. only thing as Google suggests.
Clearly someone managed to get Google financing and stopped making payments. So no, you didn't buy a stolen phone. Anyway, the blacklist carriers use here in the United States is only effective if the phone itself is in the US. In your case, where you are in Pakistan, the device will work normally even though it's blacklisted.
For a period of time there was talk of every carrier worldwide using the same blacklist, which would really ruin your day. As of now, obviously nothing has come of it.
Generally a IMEI will only be blacklisted in the country it was reported stolen.

Probably you have model C185 which was for (United Arab Emirates) market
I did try to update with the laptop and no 10.1 available
I did some research and C185 gets updates like around 8 months or more after other models get it
It sucks, but i dont care, phone works perfect on 10.0

Question ColorOS to OxygenOS

I live in china so op9s will be shipped with ColorOS.
Is it possible to flash stock OxygenOS?
Yes, after a bit of time. If OP doesn't officially allow it, devs on XDA will make it possible. Should be pretty easy.

I went to the pop-up event in Shanghai and was told that as of now there is no plan for that, if you want OxygenOS you should buy the international version. But they didn't really seem to know for sure, a lot of the 'staff' there didn't seem to be 1+ employees, and weren't using +1 phones... so I'm going to wait and see how it goes.

Not at the pop-up for sure. In the past, I know you could maybe get a phone from HK JD or Tmall shipped to Shanghai etc. but you would be responsible for taxes/custom duty etc. not worth it in my opinion.
You can ask customer support center for help, maybe.
I spoke to support yesterday and they said its not possible as they're different operating systems. But as far as I'm aware isn't it possible to switch to ColorOS on the OP8 now?
I am also considering purchasing from China. But if I can't switch to Oxygen OS, give up and buy a global model.

You could point them to:
"Samsung has addressed this issue in the second One UI 4 beta release for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (firmware version ZUKA), and all camera functions continue to work after unlocking the bootloader on this version of the software."

I have several times and also showed them a picture showing they knew unlocking bootloader breaks the camera. They are stubbornly ignoring these things....
And so, Samsung support's only course of action is we must take our phones to a repair center. They cannot send the information to higher levels from the support department. Spam them on Twitter, Facebook, Messenger and Samsung Members will only frustrate with no promise our complaint will reach the people that should be informed of our displeasure...
Sweden with NEE as csc, unlocking breaks camera... Very disappointed, I was close to getting the Xiaomi 11T but opted for this one which I now regret... Going non-root is a complete deal-breaker for me.
Taiwan with csc BRI
and yes I have camera problems when unlocking the bootloader

No thanks. To far away from me to be bothered. Be 4-6 hour by train and bus there and back and no guarentee for a fix...
Arobase40 said:
It was actually a global message so if any one in this survey could bring his phone to a Samsung repair center we would know if this is really a hardware issue or simply a software issue. If it's a hardware one and if that could only be done by a SRC that means this could be a very expensive operation globally for Samsung...
Some of you might also think about a class action against Samsung...
PS : @bobfrantic , I thought 1 hour would be more than enough to cross your country from North to South or from East to West, unless there is no Samsung Repair Center in your country... lol
I apologize if I hurt anyone living in your country, included yourself of course.

From my home to brussels is 2 hours train & bus then another 40 min bus to the repair shop. The one in antwerp is 2.5 hours one way bus and train. I hope some lives near a repair shop and can go see if it requires repair BUT I am 99.44 % sure it is firmware issue and hardware.
I'm curious. Has anyone taken their phone to a service center to see if they can fix the issue of camera failure when the boot loader is unlocked? If so, please report if they can correct the issue or if they confirm it is a firmware issue that Samsung has to corrected in an update... thanks in advance.
Arobase40 said:
If your nearest repair center is too far from your home, you can ask Samsung to supply you a prepaid formula to return your phone to an official repair center so you won't have to pay anything by yourself and then they should retourn it to you repaired at no charge !
Other solution bring it back to where you bought your phone if it's closer (make take a bit longer delay)

I may look into this but, I hope that in the next firmware update things maybe, a big maybe corrected as I believe it is a firmware issue with faulty coding in there somewhere... because with the z fold 3 phones getting the same issue fixed with their update to android 12... see:
Unlocking the bootloader no longer kills the Galaxy Z Fold 3's cameras
Unlocking the Galaxy Z Fold 3's bootloader no longer kills camera functions on One UI 4 beta based on Android 12. Read on to learn more.
www.xda-developers.com
in the second paragraph, user @exocetd has said there is a file can be modified to correct this issue and I wonder if he has released the name of the file and what modifications to it to fix the issue..

I got an update notification for EMUI 12 but I wont install it yet.
Would you let me know how your battery is tomorrow or this week?
I got my update in the Netherlands a few days ago. I really like it. Battery life seems unchanged so far. Love the 20x, am on my 3rd. It's great to feel like this has given the phone a new lease of life.
PayPal app still won't run reliably for me with 2FA on, but that has been the case for months.

What is 2FA on mean?
And does your EMUI 12 run on Android 10 or 11?

2FA means when there is an extra security step set up for Paypal.
The Paypal app does not run reliably on my 20X.
From what I read online EMUI12 is based on HarmonyOS. That is based on Android I think, but I don't know which version.
But anyway, I like it so far

O I see, 2 factor authentication. Gotcha now.
Dang so is your Mate 20x an EVR-L29?
That's good that the harmony OS will still work with playstore and didn't negatively affect you.
If you go to about phone does it tell you if you're on Android 10 or 11?
Curious if Harmony changes that section.

Have you noticed better battery of performance on EMUI 12 so far?
Got my update this morning. I've not installed it yet though.
I'm in the UK using Vodafone but handset EVR-L29 bought direct from Huawei way back in January 2019. The phone is still a beast even in 2022.
