Question Unlock bootloader error - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hi to all, I just got the F3. I have bad time unlocking the bootloader and need advice.
Sim card with data is inserted.
Mi account is logged to the device
Find device and location are enabled
OEM unlock, USB debugging are enabled and I have applied for bootloader unlock.
Edit: at the end I managed to begin the unlock process saying I would try after 357 hours! 15 days! What is that;

A safe way is to not use the phone during that period.

Of course and it is obsolete but this method still works for those who are in a hurry, just create another account and try it for free.

In general 168 hours but sometimes depending on the country and the phone the wait is more or less higher.
I had the case with a new redmi note 7 where the unlocking was done in 36 hours while my poco or my 11t pro took 168 hours, why I don't know.

Bought used Mi6

So I just bought a used Mi6 from eBay. Now I can't fully remember but if I want to unlock it, I would need the original mi account right? If I don't have it, does that mean I can't unlock it?
Bump
No one knows?
Depends if the last owned linked their account to it or not.
Good news, received today, logged into mi account in the flash tool and its unlocked.
Time to fire up aospa.

Stuck at 99% just saying can't unlock.
I'm assuming for now that even though I got my text I still need to wait for 3 days minimum for the unlock to actually go through.
Waiting sucks but to some extent I'm glad as it stops me rushing into anything.
Now my environment for flashing is set up so I can flash over to the latest China Dev and then install ROMs etc.
Seems to be the way to do it to get the latest firmware.

Nah it says to try again in 18 hours.
English is a bad translation so I thought it was telling me I'd only waited that long.
But it's gone down from 25 so I'm assuming it's a timer. So ETA 18 hours to unlock for me
I've done everything perfectly
You have to create an official Mi Account and apply for unlocking !
After your application is approved and you connected your device with your account you have to wait 72 hours.
Then you can easily unlock with the official unlock tool

Global Version Root/TWRP

I recently purchased a Redmi Note 5 , Global Version, I recently unlocked the bootloader, but wasn't for sure what guide method to use to flash twrp and root... I tried the one click root I found here on the forums, but it doesn't detect my device, even with usb debugging etc... So was thinking maybe b/c it was global and not china? Any help appreciated, thanks.
Install it normally via fastboot. For root, flash magisk. No need to complicate things with tools.
Download twrp from here - dl.twrp.me/whyred

There's another guide where you sign in with second miui account on phone than sign in with second account on mi flash tool. But I can't create 2nd xiaomi account cause i only have 1 phone number. Xiaomi uses phone number to create account

10 steps to unlock your phone if you have trouble doing it. (Unlock Bootloader)

Hey guys, i had trouble unlocking my phone following different guides and now that i've done it, i thought i would share the steps i did so it may help other users.
Let's do this:
1. First turn off any VPN both on your pc and phone.
2. Download the mi unlock tool.
3. On your phone disconnect your main mi account. (we will create a new mi account that we gonna only use for the unlocking process)
4. On Pc create a new mi account with email only. (you won't use any phone number in the whole process.)
5. On Pc go to your email box and click on the link to activate your mi account.
6. On your phone add your new mi account account (it will ask you phone number just choose "other ways to sign in" and put your new mi account "email and pass")
7. On your phone go to Additional settings > developper options. and check the OEM unlocking.
8. On Pc go to i.mi.com they will ask you to upgrade your account. don't do it. instead click on the find device purple bouton. (it doesn't matter if it locate your phone or not).
9. On your pc let that window open and minimize it. Open Mi unlock tool.
10. Turn off your phone and boot on fast boot "volume down + turn on" connect your phone to your pc and press "Unlock".
Your phone should get unlocked instantly when reaching 100%. Press reboot phone.
PS: If you still having trouble you can create as many mi accounts as you want and try the different steps again.
Hi
Not working, created new account, added it to my new Redmi Note 5 for unlock, all step done, but had the 360 hours to wait message at the end.
Unlock process gets to 99% and then "Current account is not bound to this device" message. If I do that I have to enter my phone number.
Does it matter if I have a SIM inserted?
Ok, after chasing the magic unicorn and 8 accounts later I can say that I have my doubts that it is possible with any of these methods.
You really have to wait 15 days to unlock. This really lowers the value of this phone a lot.
PS.: You need the (official) Dev ROM (global/chinese doesn't matter I guess) so that you can maybe unlock it in 15 days. Otherwise you get the "Current account is not bound to this device" no matter what you do.

I know the pain that's why i shared my experience. Lol
For your previous question it doesn't matter to have the sim card or not.
Other than that my friend got a new vince phone and unlocked it with those steps after 3 attempts with 3 different accounts. The third account made him meet the magic unicorn.
voila its working with first attempt, thanks

The error was that it has to wait some days before he can unlock it. And he bypassed it with new account.
Hmm, I always get the "Current account is not bound to this device" message if I dont bind it.

try flashing developer rom ,
I already use the dev ROM otherwise I wouldn't even be able to bind the account.
I guess the problem is that you need an old account for this method.
PS.: Btw the method described here is without binding if I understand it correctly, but I tried it with and without.

Yeah ok, that is what I did because I had to. I just can't get over the 360h cap and it gets reset every time I change account.

To get to the 360h wait you need to bind your account. If you get the 86006 error you probably need to use one of the dev ROMs (Global or Chinese).

Care to share your Mi Unlock app?
EDIT: IT WORKS!
I used the old version miflash_unlock-en-2.3.803.10 (link https://www.xiaomigeek.com/download-mi-flash-unlock-tool.html) instead of the latest 3.3.525.23.
Other than that, just follow the steps from OP.
No need binding.
Old ver of mi unlock doesn't check for binding (although it still asks to login - use the new account to login to mi unlock)

Hey guys,
my Redmi Note 5 Global arrived today. I have the permission for unlock since 2 years, so I tried to unlock it with no success. First I got an unknown error and after some attempts I got the message: Couldn't Unlock "After 360 hours of trying to unlock the device".
Is there a way to solve this? I've found no solution so far, would a new mi account with new permission solve the problem?

The secret trick is not to Bind your account in Developer Options, but just log in on the device.

Yes. Everytime the same error
These are the steps I'm doing, maybe there's something obvious wrong or I'm too stupid^^
1. Try to unlock with first account --> 360h
2. Reboot phone, logout from mi account. Login into the second mi account.
3. Reboot in Fastboot --> sign out on the mi unlock tool and sign in with the second account --> current account is not bound to the device.
After the 360h message from the first account, the mi unlock tool should be not touched?
Edit: Tried also the way with removing the device from I.mi.com. My RN5 has no inserted sim card, is that a problem? Just wifi.
Edit 2: Tried also with closing mi unlock tool between the 2 unlock attempts and with inserted sim card, same result.

Uhmm, you should also try to clear the cache of MI unlock tool. Otherwise, it gives you same error no matter how many times you try. That's what I'd do. It might not work but try it and redo the procedure. Share the results

Can't exactly remember. Look in file menu for about option in mi unlock tool and in that if I remember correctly there should be a log button. If you click that a directory will open. Remove all the files. It may not be accurate as I'm not at home right now.

I wondered, I fiddled a bit with the config, and I saw:
C:\Users\me\Downloads\miflash_unlock-en-3.3.525.23\config\app_info
Inside:
Maybe there's a way to call an OLDER api version
I don't have time to play with that, but maybe it's a good hint to solve the issue.
Cheers,

Unlocking the bootloader
While unlocking the bootloader, I went to developer settings and was trying to unlock the device.
Don't disconnect from the network, sign out of your Mi Account, perform a factory rest, or erase system data. If you've already done any of the above, add your Mi Account again; otherwise, you won't be able to unlock your device.
I was getting this error, after restarting the phone, signing out and signing in; the same issue.
I even did a factory reset but had the same issue.
Please let me know what can be done.

No. Even if there was: NEVER FLASH SOMETHING WITHOUT THE BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. If you do you have a very high risk of a SOFT BRICK meaning you have to send your phone to a service centre
Don't want to intercept this thread but just wanted to ask. Will I need to have my phone turned off while waiting for the 1 week period or can I just use it normally?
