General Problems with IMEI after exiting CN rom - OnePlus 9 Pro

Guys, first I want to make it clear that I'm not opening this topic looking for methods to change the IMEI, my problem is something that really intrigues me.
I imported the op9p from China because it doesn't have an official store in my country, and it turns out that his version is Chinese (LE2120) and probably the seller flashed the rom IN, EU or NA, I didn't receive it with ColorOS but I didn't pay attention either In that detail, it didn't even cross my mind.
And there's a problem with doing that, the IMEI is only read correctly on ColorOS, or OxygenOS A12, and I wouldn't care about that if my country didn't have a law in place that blocks the operation of the mobile network for cell phones with IMEI " strangers/illegals", recently I received an SMS from my operator warning that in a while my IMEI will be blocked for use on the country's mobile network, so I ran after a solution and discovered that when I went up to OOS12 the rom correctly reads the IMEI. But OOS12 is not good in my opinion, I really prefer to be using a custom rom, and at this point you must be figuring out where I want to go, to be in a custom rom, you must be on OOS11, which leads to this IMEI problem for custom roms.. I even received this mentioned SMS while at AOSPA. I honestly don't have the slightest idea how to get around this problem and not get stuck in stock, I would like if anyone had any ideas please let me know
NOTE:
I'm not trying to do anything illegal with my IMEI, on the contrary, I want it to work properly.
And I am currently on OOS12 NA/Global, and the IMEI is being recognized as it is marked on the label on the cell phone case.

I'm stuck into a similar loophole you could say. Can't upgrade to oos12 cos when I do, I lose my network coverage. But when I'm on oos11 or even android 12 custom roms, network works perfectly without any issues. Anyhow, the lack of stock camera always made me go back to OOS. I even tried flashing other builds on my 9 pro (IN, GLOBAL) but the same result of no network availability. I'm not sure what Oos12 does with the IMEI but whatever it is, it's not letting me update my 9 pro.

you say mobile data network? I think that in your case it would be a good idea to report it to oneplus, but from what I read right here on xda, a port of the OOS camera will soon be released for aosp

Not sure where are you reading such, but oos camera will take probably a WHILE. It's true that some are working on it, but the progress is slow and barely any.

Not getting connected to 4G in the US on Global Rom

Hi Guys,
Spend a bunch of time with AT&T trying to get this phone on the data network here in the USA. When the phone first boot I can get on the data network for about 15 seconds and then it seems to get blocked or something.
I'm just wondering if this is because its the fake global rom? 9.6.4.0.
It shows as connected and on 4G for AT&T but only calls and texts work, no data. AT&T said that the IMEI number was showing incorrectly and that they had to add it to their system, so it sounds like this is a carrier issue and not ROM issue but just wanted to be sure.
Also as far as the sim card slots, I wanted to use an sd card so that means I need to put the sim in the 2nd sim slot. In the phone it shows 2 IMEI numbers, one of which is 14 characters and the other is 15 characters. AT&T made it sound like a 14 character IMEI was invalid in the US. The odd part is that the IMEI numbers changes slots as I move the SIM card around. the 14 character IMEI number will move to where ever the SIM is installed. Not sure if this matters or not either.
If I reboot the phone I get data for like 15 seconds again and then is stops.
Any ideas on this one? Just wanted to make sure this isn't something up with the fake rom installed (phone was already unlocked when I got it)
So just for good measure I went ahead and flashed the global 9.6.6.0 rom that was release today.
AT&T cannot seem to get this phone activated on their network at all... I get 4G showing in the notification bar, but I cannot get any voice or data.
I know some of you guys have this phone running on AT&T, are you using global roms? Could that have anything to do with me not getting signal? Is it worth trying to flash a chinese rom as well?
I sort of feel this is a carrier issue, but I am certainly not sure.

Did you try the volte enabler in dialer? *#*#86583#*#*
Also, are your apn settings correct?
The modem of the global rom is currently broken, nothing will help.
I suggest installing 9.6.11.0 China stable (no ARB) from fastboot and then downgrade to 9.6.6.0 Global using the antirollback method
your modem will work perfectly

Ok, I will certainly give that a whirl. It certainly does feel like the modem is not working...
Do I have to downgrade to 9.6.6.0? No harm in staying on the 9.6.11.0 china rom? (Or does it not support English at all?)
I have been unsuccessful getting flashing to work over fastboot, so I must be missing something there. Can I just flash via TWRP? that's already installed and working?

Excellent, Ok, I will flash the 9.6.11.0 in TWRP and hopefully that makes the mode work again.
Thank you guys!
Ok, I now have a working radio after flashing the 9.6.11.0 !!!!! Thank you guys! Data and Voice are now working on AT&T.
So if I wanted to go to the global 9.6.6.0, can i just flash that over this in TWRP?

Sounds too easy, but i'll give it a try, lol....
I figure that encrypted partition will be problematic...
I still have the issue where TWRP never stays, I have to flash it via ADB everytime i want to use it. Anf then it only works once and is gone.
EDIT, yeah, that certainly didnt work. Phone boots to a password screen, I really hate encryption and this is why...

I'm not getting anything like that. I just did a format of the data and flashed 9.6.6.0. Its just sitting at the android loading screen now, so that didnt work either.
But at least I know that the chinese rom does work. That's a plus, now just to get over to global rom somehow...
wow, it works with att? u getting H or LTE? what city u in? i want to check the city bands
Again, your modem is broken, nothing will help on software part.
if you want china rom, with china bloatware no multilanguage and GAPPS not working good go for it and just stay on china stable.
if you want to install global rom again while having a working modem follow the guide: here

I'm in New Hampshire. Its just 4G in this area, but I suspect it will connect to LTE in the appropriate areas.
I have a question regarding 4g. My device shows only LTE instead of 4g. Seems to have quick connection. In theory they are the same but just wondering if anyone having the same?

Thx what fw are you using? I remember when I had the chinese stable and even before the EU I had 4g showing up. But now even when I go to settings I can only chose LTE and 3g. No 4g option.

I had the 9.6.4.0 and the 9.6.6.0 global roms, those both had broken modems, no internet access.
I also tried the trick of putting on the chinese rom 9.6.11.0 and then flashing over to the firmware less 9.6.6.0 global. Still broken modem.
The only way I can get working data is to use a chinese rom. These have all worked.
I was on 8.8.9 miui 10, which I then upgraded to 8.9.6. After that I dirty flashed the xiaomi.eu 8.9.6 rom over that. All of those have working radios.
I guess i'm not too concerned about flashing the newer anti-rollback roms anymore, since there is a guide on how to roll back if you need to. But so far on the chinese miui 10 roms the only issue I seem to have is Android Auto not working and Textra (3rd party text app) not keeping its notification alive.

Request advice from the experts on troubleshooting or install stock rom

Hi all,
Would like to thank you in advance in taking your time in reading this post. Its my first time (and post) with the XDA forums. I have a few questions I am not sure if Im doing the correct thing so Im hoping for advice for the experts here in the forum to point me in the right direction.
Technical skills - never flashed a phone before but reading the step by step instructions available in the forums.
A few information with my phone to help with troubleshooting
- Purchased with no warranty overseas because they dont sell it here in the Philippines
- Phone came with the following specs
- Android 8 with Nov 1, 2018 patch
- unlock bootloader
- software channel - retcn
- Build number - OPXS27.109-52-10
- Baseband version - M8988_20207.117.02.41-01.01R NCD
Issue:
1. 4G Network - not working at all on the local network. It seems to be able to go to 4G but cannot make outgoing or incoming phone calls/ text or mobile data.
- troubleshooted by resetting phone, changing apn with no luck. Changing it to 3G only seems to make the phone work to make voicecalls/text and mobile connection
2. Random apps crashing - namely - grab (like uber) and spotify.
- tried resetting the phone (and installed just grab app only after reset but still not working) and cleared partition cache boot mode but still no change.
Proposed solution
- installing a new stock rom - should fix the apps crashing issue and 4g issue
- installing custom rom like lineage (discarded this solution because it will disable audio mods) - i bought the moto mods JBL accessory.
questions:
1. Based on this thread - (https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/how-to-return-to-stock-sprint-t3694783)
- I wish to install stock rom but Im not sure which rom to use. Do I use USC version based on the phones current build number? - OPXS27.109-52-10 or can I change to a different US carrier like verizon ?(related to next question)
2. Is there anyway to change/fix the carrier frequency so it will start accepting 4g locally here?
- will installing a stock rom with a different carrier (i.e. verizon), will that change baseband and accept other frequencies or will I brick my phone?
- Or hope the stock rom with a different patch will fix it? Ive read in forums it could just be the newer patches that giving me issues. The one available for USC is version OPXS27.109-40-7. Upon checking my local carrier and USC band frequencies, both have 5 band with 850ghz frequency available. So Im beginning to think it could be a software rather than carrier issue
3. Because the phone came with a unlocked bootloader, does that mean I will never receive OTA updates from the stock rom? I will have to manually update it when android 9 comes out?
4. software channel - retcn - does that have to do with anything with baseband or installing stock rom? Does this help in any trouble shooting? Ive seen a few threads in the forums with builds with specific software channel in other threads with specific models xt1789 - 02 or 03 or 06. I dont know if that affects stock roms?
-----------------------------------
Maybe it would also help to show my local 4g frequencies and band number
Smart Band is here below
Frequency Protocol Class Band Number
700MHz FDD-LTE/LTE-A 4G 28
850MHz FDD-LTE/LTE-A 4G 5
1800MHz FDD-LTE/LTE-A 4G 3
2100MHz FDD-LTE/LTE-A 4G 1
2300MHz TDD-LTE 4G 40
Sorry for some newb questions and I welcome any other methods of troubleshooting or suggestions you guys can give me. I feel installing stock rom USC carrier is the solution to the problem after all the research I have done, but would like confirmation first from the experts.
Regards
Rj
On mirror.lolinet.com, 109-52-10 belongs to Retail Apac. The newest rom was uploaded is 109-52-12.
If your unlocked bootloader phone is still running the stock firmware, it will be notified when OTA comes.
I'm using an ATT with carrier unlocked so everything is fine to me. With unlocked carrier, you can use any mobile network if the phone baseband supports.
According to basic theory, if the phone was unlocked bootloader, it can be flashed fw from other variants (but there will be problem for each variant situation). It seems none of us here has done this yet.
- Check your phone model, it's on the right of the charger port.
- Open Phone, and type: *#*#4636#*#*. Choose Phone info. Check the preferred network type. If you can receive sms but cannot send, just update your SMSC number.
Most problems can be solved by flashing the stock fw.
Good luck!!!
Thank you
I didn't even know that site until you pointed it out.
I would be definitely be using the APAC software and try and flash the stock rom. I hope it would work and if not I'll try and flashing the older patch version.
Thank you
Will update you hopefully in a week as soon as I fully understand the details of flashing.

Just giving people update incase anyone is interested. I decided to follow this guide Step E (reflashing back to stock). It worked perfectly for me.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/guides-bootloader-twrp-custom-roms-root-t3805737
As you guys know the original Build number was OPXS27.109-52-10. It turns out that was meant for model XT1789-06. It wouldnt be a big deal except my model that arrived was for XT1789-05
Regardless I followed the instructions and installed the latest firmware for OPSC27.109-52-14 for XT1789-06 (https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/nash/official/RETAPAC/)
Installation went fine and all the apps crashing issues went away. However 4G still didnt work.
I decided to see if installation the latest build for XT1789-05 under the link below would help.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/nash/official/RETAIL/
It felt more stable, apps not crashing, moto mods still working, and I was able to get get 4G working for internet and sms however phonecalls (both outgoing and incoming) still didnt work. 3G seems to be still stable and working fine at the moment in the Philippines. (note: I have updated APN)
I have decided to leave it alone as I got half my problem sorted (apps crashing) and moto mods still working. Can live without 4G as its mostly connected to WIFI at home and occasionally going out. Crashing apps was more important win for me.
Maybe once Android 9 officially comes out for the phone, it may fix the issue.
I have explored the option of changing the radioband but I heard of nightmares for some users when they switched to USA. I dont know what will happen if I switch to Australia radioband. (i left it to automatic at this time).
Maybe if someone else found the solution, would be happy to try it out.
I'm sorry for you when you still have some problems. My friends mostly use Z2F form T-mobile and Sprint. ATT and Verizon are less. But they work well for all functions.
There's another way you can try. It's the method for dual sim. For eg, you've a Sprint one. You modded the hardware and the 2nd SIM slot is now available. But current Sprint fw only supports single SIM. You can download a dual sim fw, extract it and copy-replace the modem from Sprint fw to dual sim one (I dont remember exactly what modem should keep, sorry). Then, flash the combination fw and the phone runs with dual sim. You can try a stable system and retcn modem or vice versa.

Nothing to be sorry about, actually really grateful for your input.
Already had a big win by:
1. flashing for the first time ever to stock rom and not bricking my phone in the process
2. all apps are now working
3. moto mods are working
4. alternative solution to 4g issue is available
Just letting you know the my variant already is on dual sim, and I was pretty sure the modem was wiped and reinstalled when I reflashed back to stock. I did find another thread of similar issue. Only solution was really to either change to 3G or fix APN.

One user commented it could be a carrier issue. (see below)
-------

Hello, guys.!
I've been following this inquiry very close and I've arrived into a very accurate conclusion:
1. This is not a device problem! Motorola devices are not the problem. I've found that Samsung and Huawei devices also have the same problems.
2. This is definitely about service provider network. In my investigation, AT&T is the one having this issue alone.
3. This issue happens only in certain Mexican areas. For example, in Monterey this happens. I went to Chihuahua and CD Juarez just last 3 days and I was able to use 4G and calls without problems.
4. Based on the idea that only happens in certain areas at certain networks, I can only concluded that happens to certain devices as well. Brands, perhaps, as unlocked iPhone does not present this issue.
------
It could be something to do with Volte 4G calls. It has been disabled for the Xforce 1789-05 european models.
I think waiting to Android 9 may be my best solution though I may start try to start troubleshooting and focusing on simcards to see if 4g will work with other carriers.
I've got an ATT Flipout. I could make call and sms normally. But the network could only rise to E+, cannot be up to 3G (several years ago). The problem was phone hardware. The baseband was only available for US.
Z2F was the flagship, so its modem supported many 4G band for other regions.
As you mentioned, I think you should find out what carrier's band would suit your Z2F. Luckily, all Z2F variants have our bands.
Good luck, guy! And hope you'll give us good news!
You have the (05) dual sim variant correct? You're also in the Philippines right? If you look at this link you'll see all the bands supported for your variant, also you can check carriers in your region to see what bands they are using.
If you look carriers in Philippines like Smart you can see what bands they use.
A comparable carrier is Claro in Brazil.
They use the same bands on a GSM network. I would assume that Retail firmware would open those bands, but I'm not 100% sure and maybe the firmware you flashed doesn't. I do see firmware for RETBR (retail Brazil) and I know that (05) variants are used there. So maybe flashing a retbr firmware will open the bands needed since Brazil and Philippines use some of the same bands. I'm not 100% sure on this, it's just my best guess. You're welcome to verify the info linked and do what you will. I'd think the worst case scenario would be borking your imei and having to blankflash, but those tools are around here as well and so long as you DO NOT relock your bootloader you'll find that it is pretty hard to actually brick this phone. That's the best I can come up with to help.
Thank you

Your correct, its the dual sim 05 variant. I flashed the retail and I do get LTE data. It just the LTE wont work on 4G. So I dont think its purely a band issue because based on your link I have 3 supported LTE bands with the smart network. Its possible its something to do with carrier communicating with the phone. (APN? Volte?)
Question: will flashing a retbr on a retcn cause issue? Does software channel matter? Maybe I can give it a go, but my wife (who i gave the phone to) has been pretty happy with it. I dont think she wants another wipe on her phone. (i think i already reformatted at least 5 times already)

I don't know about all that, looks like a recipe for trouble. Are you able to make or receive voice calls? FYI you can go to apn settings, click the 3-dot menu and reset to default. That should pull your apn info from your sim so you should be good to go apn wise.
There was an old method called RadioComm. It used to unlock carrier for Razr HD (and maybe others Motorola phones). But it is more danger than flashing fw.
On my Verizon phones, no APN profile was showed. But on ATT Z2F, APN was automatically set (and showed) for each carrier.
Inbound and outbound calls affected

Unfortunately still a no go.
I have reset the network settings and used default apn as per your suggestion. I even copied settings from another phone using same carrier and used different calling apps. It's weird but when at 4g
1. Text work
2. Data works
3. Inbound and outbound phone calls doesn't work
Swap to 3g everything works
I'm still trying to convince my wife if I should flash to retbr.

Well if everything works on 3g then it sounds like your bands are fine. Sounds more like a volte issue. 4g works, 3g works, calling works, it's just no calls when 4g is on. Are you using an old sim? Have you tried the sim in another phone to see if you experience the same problems with 4g? Some carriers use different sim for different services. What is your preferred network type set to? If it's exclusively LTE, try setting it to LTE/GSM. It sounds more like a sim issue, setting issue, or maybe a registration issue.

I dont think its a old sim issue because its only a year old. But I am getting another simcard from another local network to test it out.
Will update with details.
Hello harkoliar, it looks like both you and I share the exact problem. And best of all, or worst depending on how you view it, I am in Malaysia with the same problems, Grab keeps crashing, among other apps just failing to work period.
Software Channel reads RETCN. 05 phone running an 06 firmware.
I noticed you tried to flash a RETAIL firmware, may I know which was the file you used, was it OPXS27.109-34-21?
I don't have much problems with the connectivity and using 4G. Perhaps it may be a difference between telcos in Malaysian and the Philippines.
Oh... And I bought mine from Lazada, where did you get yours. LOL

Same Lazada. Lol. We must have gotten from the same supplier.
Your right, I installed OPXS27.109-34-21. Worked like a charm after that. Please follow the steps provided in the guide - Step E.

note: be mindful just what version of android your using. Im assuming its also android 8 like mine. If its currently Android 7, i heard its best to install the android 7 rom first then upgrade to 8. You can tell by the versions.
Another user also having the same problems and reinstalled the latest Retail ROM for XT1789-05 - latest version, worked for him as well

Was your seller named Aukey? I left them a stinker of a review, lol.

Call Recording and Indonesia ROM

Just got a Redmi Note 8 Pro with Global ROM and discovered that call recording won't work due to Google/Android Pie limitations.
After some searching, I found (on this forum) that the Indonesia ROM supports call recording on this phone.
Here are my questions:
1. Will burning a different ROM affect my warranty?
2. Will I lose any functionality by switching from Global to Indonesia ROM, and if so, what? Specifically, will NFC functionality be affected?
3. If I ever do a factory reset, will the phone revert to Global ROM?
4. I found the Indonesia ROM files here. There are three files called Recovery, OTA, and Fastboot. Do I need them all? If so, do they need to be burned in any specific order?
5. Where can I find complete instructions for burning the Indonesia ROM? I am new to Xiaomi, and the last time I burned a ROM to a phone was 5 years ago (Samsung); I don't remember anything, so I'd like instructions that assume nothing and don't skip any steps (instructions for intelligent dummies). I found these instructions for installing TWRP, but there's nothing about what to do next, and there's a list of pre-requisites with no explanations (Unlocked Bootloader, Phone Drivers, ADB and Fastboot Drivers), making the instructions insufficient for a noob like me.
Thanks much.

Hey,
Before going any further you first need to make sure what region is your phone. Is it a Chinese phone (bought from AliExpress for example) or a real Global phone (bought from a local store/official retail). Because you could very well own a Chinese phone shipped with a Global Rom flashed on it and this could result in some problems for you in terms of what you can do with it and how you can do it.
If you bought/received a phone with already unlocked bootloader, you should return it.
Unlocking bootloader should only be done by you when you need it.
1. Technically unlocking bootloader, ESSENTIAL step prior flashing anything, void your warranty.
However and that's what is interesting, if at some point you decide to flash back your original region rom (here Global) and lock back bootloader, none will know but Xiaomi servers you once unlocked this device certainly not a local reseller. So in term of warranty you should be safe, that is of course unless you brick your phone doing stuff you were not supposed to do with a locked bootloader if you are following.
2. If not mistaking, I think you loose NFC. Indian phones for sure do not have NFC at all, for their version, the chip was replaced with a 2nd SIM card tray (not shared). Not sure if you read the functionality afterward using rooted tricks.
3. No that does not work this way. When you are running a Rom, any version, if you factory reset that room, you just return to installation screen of that given Rom.
To return to Global Rom, you will need to reflash that Global Rom using the same method you did successfully flashing the Indonesian Rom (or any other rom) for example.
Would be wise to first download the exact version of the Rom you are currently using on your phone for archives purpose (BURN IT on good quality medias!) to revert back to it when/if needed. You can also archives OTA updates of that version you may not have taken yet to apply them manually if you ever revert back to that Global Rom and want to.
4. Different versions depends on what you are doing. In your case Fastboot version is what you need at the moment. You can find all different kind of versions of Roms for your RN8PRO on that site
As for the way to flash them, order and everything, you will need to look for guides online,
I dont think any order matters, just make sure to flash them all before rebooting disconnecting device. But if you are unsure of what you are doing, you'd be probably best using a tool such as MiFlash.
5. Here you can find one from the MIUI community website guiding you through the use of MiFlash to flash a stock Rom on your device.
Just note you do not have to use any tools to flash the .images of all partitions, you can easily doing it from command line using fastboot flash command one after an other.
Also note that installing TWRP is usually not needed to flash stock Roms (unlike flashing custom roms). Trying to mess up with the recovery partition is actually what seem to brick most of the devices.
However please note UNLOCKING your BOOTLOADER is MENDATORY.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
doesnt matter if you switch to any rom variant .i have switched mine to indonesian ,europe and indian and alll worked fine execpt indian version felt a bit laggy .just download the fastboot version of the rom and flash it through mi flash tool xiaomiflash .your bootloader needs to be unlocked and dont forget to check cleann all button in mi flash and dont check clean and lock
I have got global version and changed imei with unlocked bootloader. Can i flash indonesian rom without lose f my imei?
Thanks in advance for your answers
Muad.Dib,
Thanks for your detailed reply.
If I understand correctly, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty just the same as rooting the phone, so if all I want is to get call recording, I may as well just root the phone and save the bother of flashing a different ROM.
Does that make sense to you, or do you see any advantage to flashing a different stock ROM instead of just rooting the phone? From past experience I've seen that rooting has additional benefits anyway.
BTW, I bought my phone on Banggood. It was advertised as Global ROM, and that appears to be what it has. As soon as I turned the phone on it updated to MIUI Global 11.0.2.1; I don't know what version it was before the update.

You're welcome, I am happy if I was useful to you in any kind of ways.
Well yes and no. Yes apparently you 'could' achieve call recording when rooted (yet I still fail doing so even if I installed the default MUI apps module I got from Telegram group. The setting to automatic recording is set to on yes, but I dont see recordings in the supposed destination folder nor I can see a simple button to record any voicecall I used to have on older versions of Android. Me failing to make it work - I did not try very hard to be honest - does not mean you cannot find someone who succeeded into doing so in that telegram group for RN8PRO).
That said it would not be a 'native' solution, just a patch/workaround. If it works well great, if not, well...
On an other hand by flashing to a Rom which does support it natively, well you are covered for the use you need.
So the advantage I see (with the included disadvantages) is better support for the function which is not supported for privacy reasons en Glob/EU market.
Does that come at a price?
Probably.
For example are you ready to trade off NFC for native call recording support? That may be a choice you have to make in the end. Again that said, if you root your phone on that new Rom, install NFC drivers manually as root (I see no reasons why that would not be possible after all) you may be able to patch NFC on that other Rom since unlike Indonesians market phone, you do have NFC hardware.
For example, myself, I wish I could have made that kind of bargain/trade off, giving up that NFC feature I have no need for, to get 8GB or Ram + 2x Sims + SD and not an hybrid tray. Unfortunately that's not the kind of trade I could make here in EU unless I would have ordered directly from Amazon.in (assuming that would have been possible) or third party website, but that was not possible for warranty reasons among other things.
Hope this helps.

UPDATE:
I finally had the time to test the MIUI-default-apps Magisk module available for download on Telegram group, originally made for MIUI 11.0.1.0, and it works properly on MIUI 11.0.2.0 EEA. Does not require changing Rom.
Hope this helps.
Well, I have finally started the process, but got stymied by the Bootloader Unlock tool (Couldn't unlock. Please unlock 168 hours later.). Quite frustrating. I see that a lot of people have this problem and had to try again more than once, waiting a week between attempts.
Is there a workaround or do I just have to wait a week and hope for the best?
Also, assuming all goes well and I eventually manage to unlock the bootloader and flash the Indonesia ROM, do I use the same tool to re-lock the bootloader (in order to restore the security of the phone)?
And if I want to unlock again in the future, will I again possibly get the "wait and try again next week" message, or does that only happen the first time?
Thanks.

No workaround, you just have to wait (and yes I know how freaking frustrating it was for me...). You can even start meditation classes meanwhile it helps

It depends on what your the flavor of the phone you got. You may want to have a look at that other thread Relock bootloader after flashing ROM Indonesia where we actually covered this exact subject
The good thing about that 7 days wait period is you can gather all the intel you need to be 100% ready when the time come to seriously mess up with things.
So you know, once your bootloader is unlocked, first thing you will want to do BEFORE anything else, is blow off that security which needed Auth Account to unbrick account (ONLY WORKS FOR PIE, ANDROID 9 MIUI VERSION BEWARE).
All information is here: [GUIDE][INFO][PSA] Redmi Note 8 Pro - Megathread

The waiting time is for one time only (THANKS GOD!).
So if you relock, beside having to get your hands on the unlock tool once again and have added the same infos as for the first time in the phone, you will be able to unlock right away.
That's at least a good news
Hope this helps,

Yes of course.
It is a module you can find on the Telegram group called "Redmi Note 8 Pro | OFFICIAL".
Like me you will have to go in there even if you do not use Telegram.
Once there and you got the /notes it is called the default apps.
I cannot share it myself here because I am not the developer of that module, as you can understand that's against forums policies.
All I can tell you is it works correctly on EEA MIUI 11.0.2.0.
Good luck!

Hey,
Sorry was AFK for a while. In case you still need answer, going to reply just in case.
Well there is not much to add, you simply install the module from within Magisk once it installed, you reboot, and it works out of the box, you go in the settings and you set it as you like.
Good luck!

Dont know what stock Firmware my phone needs

Good Morning,
So this is the story, I was suddenly having issues with Cell service people were not hearing me I felt like I had to reset the phone and wipe it all so I thought I might as well ROOT it when it came to downloading the firmware I was a bit lost did not know what was the correct one was i threw out the box,
I flashed one but still have this cell issue I feel like its not using all the bands... I have Tmobile and I do not know if the issue is I am flashing wrong firmware.
So 2 questions
how would I know if I am flashing the correct firmware?
And how would I know if that is my issue ?
Please Someone Advise.

I would test another carrier first, or the same carrier in another area. Also test with different people in different areas. This is most often an issue on the carrier side, not the device.
So my advice: make sure your issue is the device. Only after that we can talk about flashing another ROM.
Thanks @arsradu for your quick reply Its definitely not the carrier I just am not sure what the problem is, I was thinking each firmware has its own optimizations for the bands it should use,
I bought it on amazon USA
And currently flashed
TROIKA_RETAIL_10_QSBS30.62-17-13_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
I tried using LMSA to restore my phone to factory settings and it gives me an error I wish I can just go back to stock clean.

Assuming you bought a US model, which works on all major carriers, your version should be RETUS.
With the bat file that was provided here in the forum, you should be able to fast boot flash it.

It can be the ROM, as well. In my experience though it’s usually not the case.
Anyway, what’s your device model? Is it xt2013-4? Did you make a backup of your original ROM so you can restore it later on?
Also, what is the error you get when trying to use LMSA to restore?
Yes my model number is xt2013-4 no i did not make a backup I uploaded a screenshot of the error message. and I guess I will try reatilUS I tried the simple retail option the last one not sure what retail and retail us differences are,

RETUS with the above linked bat has worked fine for a XT2013-04 I have worked with, I assume it would with yours too :good:
I cannot speak to the assistant error though, never used it...
Side note: don't forget to add the code line for the 10th chunks to the bat.
Does Any one know what are the differences between Firmware's that are made for this phone ? for example

AMZ is the Amazon Ads model,
Retail can be US retail with different bands.
Retus is what I flashed in the past on a US phone that worked with all 4 carriers and it never had any issues.

S20 ultra Live Demo Unit fully operational... permanently?

Hi everyone.
I've just bought this LDU device to a guy, and it seems to be fully functional (excepting some minor things, I can make phone calls and use 4g/5g data connection, etc).
Anyway, I'm a little bit scared that something stops working suddenly, mainly because of the patches that have been applied to make it work, specially for the IMEI (these devices originally don't have one, so it's "patched").
Another thing is that it comes with Android 10, and I'm not sure if I can install another ROM with Android 11 without breaking the patching that makes it work so far.
Anyone with experience with LDU devices could please share some information about it?
Thanks in advance!
Edit1: After some days of testing, I've found the following issue:
-Cannot update via OTA, CSC is WWA which I haven't found anywhere.
-Samsung apps like Pass and Secure Folder don't work, probably due to Admin mode (despite no root app is installed), or it may be related to the CSC too.
The rest keeps working fine so far.
This sounds like a stolen phone i'm afraid. Patching an IMEI is considered illegal.
Any device that has a cellular modem in it (for calls and data), MUST have an IMEI.
If the seller said it didn't have an IMEI, he's lying and you are potentially dealing with a stolen phone.
Thanks for your reply. I thought it was a stolen one at first also (although he told me it was part of a payment from the phone store he works on), but then he had the white box of the LDU devices, so I don't think you can get one of those easily.
Anyway, this device obviously came with a cellular modem because it's working, but I guess the IMEI was patched somehow after reading it in some forums, but not sure. In fact, if you have a way to confirm it, I would be more than happy yo test it and publish the results.

Hi have you found any new answers or can you give me a link to where you've seen some answers? I'm using a Note 20 ultra LDU and I'd love to upgrade to android 12 but I wanna be sure I have enough information before i try anything.

Hi I'm using a Note 20 ultra that was previously an LDU. It came on android 10 like yours, I've currently upgraded it to android 12 via odin and everything still works fine. LDU are fully functional phones put in a demonstration mode and void of imeis, aside that nothing wrong with them. You might wanna install a new battery tho since they're batteries are quite overused because they were Live demo units....
