Question Pixel Launcher Keeps on Crashing - Google Pixel 6 Pro

I am a Nova Launcher user for years and I switched to it from day one when I got my P6P in October last year. Today, I want to find out whether there is anything new in the "At A Glance", so I switched to the Pixel Launcher but it gave me popup error "Pixel Launcher Keeps Stopping" with options for "App info" and "Close app". Choose either of them would give me continuously flicking screen. I have had the December Update, January update, February update and now my P6P is on 12L beta 3, a lot of Magisk mods and apps have ben installed/uninstalled during the past several months, so really couldn't figure out what I had done to cause the broken of the Pixel Launcher.
I have tried to uninstalled a few suspicious system apps which I had installed during the past few months such as "Classic Power Menu", "Button Mapper", Substratum Lite" etc., but it didn't solve the issue. I further uninstalled all of my Magisk modules but got the same result. Then I boot into "Safe Mode" to run the Pixel Launcher" and still crashing the same.
I really don't need the Pixel Launcher but just wonder what caused for it's failure. Can anyone suggest ideas besides factory reset (as I don't want to spend a couple days to configure the phone for my likings).

Something with the Google app maybe?

That's one of it that I can think of at first, I did clear cache and data of the Google app but got nothing to solve the issue. Anyway, thanks for suggestion.

Apps stuck on splash screen: issue with all 3rd party ROMs

Hi, guys! My issue is like this:
After I used my phone for a while, no matter 30 min or half a day, I will run into it.
1. Open an app from launcher, it will stuck in splash screen.
2. Turn into recent screen, and this app still can't be launched here. or it would not be listed in recent. Clear the recent list or force close the app from recent list, both don't work.
3. Only 1~3 apps that have been opened since last boot can be normally used. All other apps will be stuck like this.
This problem happens to every app, no matter system app or 3rd party installed. I've tried most of the ROMs from XDA such as Benzo, Bootleggers, PixelDust, Liquid, etc.
But this issue has happened on all these ROMs.
Most of times, I can't even open the Settings to force close the apps.
All I can do is rebooting.
I've tried to flash other kernels like franco or ElementalX, but it still happens.
This issue hasn't been seen on factory Pie.
I've notice this issue since November, so it won't be earlier than PPR2.181005.003.
Anyone ever ran into the same situation?
Or know the reason, or know how to solve it?
Thanks!:crying:

Slow Recent apps popup

I re-imaged the phone with the latest (Oct '19) Factory Image.
Cleared cache of every single app.
Force stopped most of the non-system apps.
Turned off all animations in the Developer Mode.
When I open a several (less than 5) apps and try to switch between them, it freezes for a few seconds when I click on one of them.
Any idea on how to resolve this issue?
How long since you flashed?
My phone usually takes about a day to level out after clean flash.
Was your flash clean with a wipe?
I flashed my phone on Friday with -w. Started noticing a day or two after that and the lag hasn't gone away (once I clear cache for each app, lag doesn't exist for a (very) small amount of time, but after that, the long lag issue creeps up again).

I came from Oreo and flashed it using the Oct 2019 factory image.
Good news is that the issue is resolved. The fault is with the 3rd party launcher (Goog needs to provide support for 3rd party launcher). Switching back to Pixel launcher fixed the issue.
Thank you for your feedback.

Strangest thing occurred

It first started with doing an update all to all apps in the google play store. I clicked on update all then the google play store crashed. I tried to open the application, but kept saying google play store keeps stopping. I then cleared data and cache from settings and that still didn't work. I then rebooted into Safe mode to see if there where any rogue apps. Found the issue then rebooted. Upon rebooting. My settings all went to default. This included my hex builds being completely wiped, default keyboard was changed to Samsung, wallpapers went to the default, my launcher was set back to ONE UI ( currently use nova ). This really isn't a big issue since it took me less than 5 minutes to bring everything back to normal. Is there any logical reason to why this would happen? Did Safe mode trigger something?
It is the incompatibility between some of the hex build(a) and latest updates. You now know how to recover from such occurence
3rd party launchers
Hyperion boot looped my Note 10+ twice, full reloads.
Prior to that it was less than stable... trashware
The native Samsung launcher is faster and stable than any of the 3rd party launchers I tried including Nova.
One UI is AOK.
No more crashes or boot loops... no more 3rd party launchers for me.
The only thing that annoys me is the white icon lettering. Everything else I can mod with the Good Lock apks and such; stable, low resource usage and the work/look great.

What was the original issue? Without knowing that it is kind of hard to guess what would have caused everything else.

I think it was safe mode that caused the other "problem." I booted my Verizon Note 10+ 5G into safe mode, then rebooted back to normal. I use Microsoft Launcher (Preview) and when it rebooted it was set to OneUI. I opened up Microsoft Launcher and set that as default and everything was back to normal.
Since this is the first time I booted into safe mode on my phone, I can't tell if that is normal or not.
P.S. There were a few other things I had to fix after rebooting into normal mode. It reset the defaults to a few other things like the default browser and dialer.

Many apps have stopped working

Android 9. Last night several apps stopped working. So I started deleting recent apps, rebooted, still same problem. Then I started deleting unnecessary apps, rebooted, still same problem. Any known issue that may cause this?
Some apps I try to open, and just get a plain white screen. Others, start to open, then just go back to previous screen. Sometimes, it gives me the error (App name) keeps stopping. App info, Close app, Send feedback.
Well, a coworker came in and told me Android is having a big problem (since last night) with something Google Chrome related. I disabled Chrome (for now), and all seems to be working again.

Question Camera still crashing and rebooting P6P

Anyone else still having issues with the camera freezing and rebooting your phone? I'm on February update and camera app 8.4.400.42337059.19
As far as I've seen, the camera app crashing hasn't been a huge issue on the 6 series (of course there are reports as usual).
What have you tried to fix it so far? are all your apps and play services fully updated (2 different updates)

Everything is up to date. I haven't tried much. Open camera app seems to work fine. I'm waiting to see if it gets fixed by an update. I see others having the same issue here https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/136991301?hl=en#

yeah that's average for a new phone. okay so let's see if we can resolve your issue.
go to play store, search camera and hit uninstall (it'll uninstall all the updates and revert to original version). then clear storage for camera app. then update it from play store. now long press on camera shortcut, give it all permissions including under Advanced (modify system settings). then test it.

thanks. I gave it a shot. It's only been random crashes....we'll see
I had troubles with my P4 XL randomly rebooting and it was caused by a lack of free storage, apparently Android 12 needs a certain amount of free MB/GB to properly work. The system doesn't warn you, it just causes bootloop/reboot issues, even said once that the Android system was corrupt and required a factory reset (I just normally rebooted and it worked, after that I cleared the storage). Do you have enough free storage?
Since I don't know how much A12 desires, I'd suggest to always leave at least 5GB free.

I am on my 3rd 6 Pro. I will tell you my first one was crashing on the camera andnit was indeed a hardware error. My next two 6 Pro's have NEVER frozen or rebooted. No camera problems. I recommend exchanging it through google.
