Hi,
yesterday I got the 62.0.A.9.11 software update from Sony, about 340 MB. The installation required about 10 minutes, consuming only 3% of battery.
I bought my device in December and had to make a Software Repair with Xperia Companion since the device wasn't receiving any update, after the repair it was running 62.0.A.3.163 (GLOBALEEA2). So the repair was able to solve the problem allowing my device to receive incoming updates regularly.
If I'm running 62.0.A.3.163 with bootloader unlocked and boot image patched by Magisk, can I still update to 62.0.A.9.11 without doing a factory reset?

Boot loader is bricked, but the OS works fine.
If HTC releases a firmware update over Zune, will it flash my bootloader?
Will the broken bootloader prevent my phone from functioning in any capacity? People say "you can't update," but I've reverted to NoDo twice since the half brick, and on both occassions I've been asked to update to Mango.
bricked phone
Can the phone be able to get a future update?? or it is blocked to do it also?

I am using a Hong Kong version ARC, bootloader unlocked, flashed customized rom based on stock firmware, and of course rooted. I am going to send to Sony as the gps and wifi got some problems.
Here is my step:
1. Flash original Hong Kong firmware (I don't have it......can anyone give it to me?)
2. Re-lock bootloader
Is the above correct? I know unlocking bootloader should void the warranty, but just have a try to see whether Sony will check my phone or not
I readed that is possible to relock bootloader if you unlocked it by sonyericsson official method for free phones.
For "unlock allowed: NO" I don't know how you can do this, but... Someone said that if you unlocked your bootloader with omnius, you can relock your bootloader recovering the autobackup image that the program generate.
Perhaps you can relock the bootloader first and then do a repair via PC Companion to return to stock HKG firmware.
DRM checking
I think Sony will know your phone status when they check the DRM.
Usually IF you unlocked your phone bootloader by using Sony Method, the DRM also removed.
I followed the step in this website:
http://androidflip.com/re-lock-boot-loader-xperia-arc-step-step-guide/
and my phone can't be turned on now......after pressing the power button, the phone vibrated once(just like usual) and then nothing happened. No button backlight, no screen backlight.........
I'm extremely sorry if its offtopic but I couldn't post it in the development section.

If you used that method and everything went fine, then you're rooted. You should also have SuperUser and Busybox now installed.
Finally and successfully returned my phone to stock status, send to Sony, and get it back after repairing
My method is:
1. reLock boatloader (After doing this you can update it via UpdateService immediately, but as my ROM is an customized 0.62 ROM, UpdateService said I already have the newest software and done nothing)
2. Flash an older version stock ROM (in my case, I flashed 2.3.3 HK version)
3. Use UpdateService again and let it update your ARC to the newest firmware
4. Use root checker and bootloader check method to ensure everything is fine
5. Bring your receipt along with ARC and go to Sony repairing centre

However, I took my ARC to repairing because of the GPS inaccuracy, Wifi disconnection and battery drain. I get it back today and they said they upgrade the software and everything is fine now - I really doubt about this as I already flashed a lot of different ROM (including stock) before but the problems can't be solved. I check the phone information and the firmware is just the normal 0.62 HK stock, no different......

Hello Everyone! I received the OTA update for Nougat 7.1.1 today. The download completes without any issue. But once I restart, for a second the android update starting logo appears and immediately the android character appears with an error sign. When I reboot I am taken to 7.0 and I get a notification saying that the update was unsuccessful. What should I do? I tried this for 3 times and my net is really slow and I have already wasted over 3GB. Please help!
Try clearing the System Cache.
If your bootloader is unlocked, the system update will fail. I'm not sure if your bootloader is unlocked though
I'm having that same issue as Raja37. I never unlocked the bootloader either.
Yes my bootloader is unlocked. Is there any way to relock it?
My bootloader is unlocked and the 7.1.1 update applied just fine.
I don't know what happened to my device.
we can't relock, only service centers can, bcz moto do not provide publicly signed rom
Hello,
I didn't read sufficient texts about software-update and I have damaged my phone software.
I have not unlocked bootloader, and not root my phone before software update.
Now on the fastboot mode I see message that phone startup fails, and I should use Software Repair Assistant to get them up.
Of course I tried this solution, but app can't connect to phone.
I installed following software using fastboot:

What I can do now? Retail Android 9 will be good solution?
