Downgrade official ROM , problem with "sw rev" version - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I would like to do a downgrade from version d to c. Normally the download mode shows an error. If I enable OEM unlock, will I be able to downgrade to an older version? If something breaks, should uploading the latest "d" version fix it? I don't want to try to make something bad happen, maybe there is someone who has more experience.

Nope. There's no way to downgrade bootloader revisions

H81009e? Same as H81010? Safe to update?

I just picked up a new g4 At&t. Pretty awesome phone. I would like to root it, But from what I can see I can only flash a "prerooted" stock image. Seems simple enough. But it looks like the only images that are out for the h810 are for h81010x software.
The software that is on my phone shows ip as H81009e
I assume that H81010a would be the newer software after OTA's. However I cannot update mine because I am using it unlocked on T-Mobile.
From what I read I can manually update using a stock KDZ or most likely a TOT file for at&t.
My question would be, Is it safe to flash the H81010a KDZ over my H1009e software?
I am new to LG and the info im finding out there is very contradictory and I couldn't find any info on h81009e.
If I am way off with what I am thinking. then please enlighten me.
Thanks.
( I did post this on the low effort root thread with no response)
Please let me know. If I can't root it. Then I will back to HTC. Just wanting to try something new.

Never heard of v09e, so far as i know an earlier version of att is 10b..if its really an att device than it should be ok flashing 10o kdz but you will be in qfuse 2, that mean you'll loose an opportunity to unlock bootloader(if it happened)

Now I'm even more confused. Its defiantly att. It has all the software and the leather back has an att logo.
So what your saying is by flashing to 10a, I would also be updating my boot loader.
Are you saying that as it sits. I may have a boot loader capable of being unlocked.
I did a quick search for qfuse but I don't know what you mean by I'll be in qfuze2.
Is there a way to check that info on my phone. Or check which bootloader I have.
Sorry for being a noob. This is my fist non htc phone in a while.

If your software version already in qfuse 2, there's no problem to flash tot file because either way you cannot unlocked bootloader anymore(as they're saying its for qfuse 0, yet it still doesn't available) but i doubt about your sw version..

Under settings>about phone>software>software version It just says H81009e. under the battery it says h810.
I can post a pic if you want but I cant remember any passwords for hosting sites right now.
So how do I know which qfuse I am in? Does the qfuse only change once you update the phone?

I can't see the updates because I'm using the att phone on t mobile service.
Maybe if I connect to some Wi-Fi.
I will update manually as soon as I know if I can unlock my current bootloader.

So you have no antirollback, thats mean you're in qfuse 0..and i guess you're the one that came with an earlier version of att sw..
Depend on you whether you want update or not as your bootloader can be unlock(if you really, really, really wanted custom kernel or rom)..lol
Maybe @autoprimecan clear things out

Ok. Thats pretty awesome.
Of course, that opens up so many more questions. Especially since all the tutorials say it only works with t-mobile and a euro model.
I was honestly planning on stripping down the stock version. But if i can actually install a recovery and flash roms. That would be great.
I guess the problem would be all the custom roms are made for either t-mobile or h815.
Would it be safe to flash a t-mobile rom on my phone if the bootloader is unlocked?
That would be awesome considering im using t-mobiles service. Maybe i can get tethering to work.
I know ive used European roms on my phones for quite some time. But those were usually htc devices, Never a LG

*time sensitive* trying to flash

I am trying to re flash the firmware on my Google pixel XL... It's already completely stock but my WiFi sucks and Verizon will only give me a refurbished phone and I'm paying almost a thousand dollars! I'm hoping flashing the firmware will fix it....a developers site told me how but a few other sites say I must unlock the bootloader first...I just want to know if I need to unlock the bootloader or not to flash the firmware... Please help!
1. You DO need an unlocked bootloader to flash stock firmware. 2. It likely wouldn't fix your issue.

If it's a VZW version, you can not unlock the bootloader. But you can ADB sideload the latest security update if you haven't already taken the June OTA. Probably won't cure your problem, but it's worth a try. Also, you can try a factory reset first.

Error when installing stock OS: SW REV. CHECK FAIL(BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 7. BINARY: 6

Recently I rooted my S9 and installed Lineage OS but I didnt like it and decided to swap back to the stock OS. I used Frija to get the .tar.md5 files for Odin but once I select all the files and hit start the log in Odin loads up to system.img then stops and I get the SW REV. CHECK FAIL(BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 7. BINARY: 6 error on my phone. Any idea on how to fix this? I'd really appreciate some help as I'm going to be travelling soon and I need my phone for it and I'd prefer not to use Lineage OS. Thanks in advance.
Do you have an At&t branded phone? SM-G960U?
I am having a very similar problem. A customer came in and was having issues with device. I told them to back up, wipe, and update device. That didn't work so I tried a full flash with ODIN. Now I can't get the phone to boot at all and it says, "Secure Check Fail : Modem" and "Unauthorized software visit nearest AT&T blah, blah,..)
I think it is because AT&T has pushed out the latest update(OCT. 18th), but the Odin files are not out yet. According to:
https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tutorial.html#!/stepbystep/id/stepbystep_KM1253489?make=Samsung&model=SamsungG965U
G960USQS7CSI5 is the latest FW. If you google it, there are only four results.
Yep, the problem was the phone was on the latest FW. Newer firmware was just uploaded a few days ago.
I flashed:
G960USQU7CSJ2_G960UOYN7CSJ2_CHA
and now I'm booting again.
Your problem is that your firmware is too old. Basically, you are trying to downgrade your FW. The phone is basically saying, "Hey, I have bootloader 7, I won't let you install something lower than that."

the Odin error is telling you that youre trying to flash a revision of the bootloader than was last installed on the phone. to to sammobile.com/fimrwares and get the one with the correct bootloader for your specific phone and flash that.
also download the firmware with the frija tool or samfirm. trust me, its literallt 5x faster than a direct download from the site. The 5 min it takes to get samfirm up and running is worth it, believe me on that.
I may be new to this, But I just Flashed a SM-g960u, That Had Bootloader7 locked on it, When I would go into download mode I would see FRP ON, and this Firmware G960USQU7CSK6. So I downloaded a Combination Firmware file. Used Odin Patched, Flashed it there is a guide out there. Restarted into the Settings, Turned on Developer mode, USB Debugging, and Was able to change OEM-Software install. Then I was able to load this phone after, with G960USQS7CSI5 with ease My first flash and I had to bypass a FRP and a Bootloader lock. Now I should be able to flash this to the U1 version unlocked and be good! If you need any help I did just do this last night I can guide you in the right dirrection. Litterally I had no help from here as in asking questions I am pretty savy. So you need to make sure your Version has the "7" in the Same Place. Also after I enabled those things while in the phone before Flashing it I chose the Factory Reset from within, SO it erashed EVERYTHING except Download Mode and the Combination Firm Loaded. Meaning I should have been able to flash to anything I wanted

Ok so first you should post I'm your devices threads but that aside. Here's what's up. You can't downgrade the error shown is saying your device is on a bit 7 binary. Your trying to flash a bit 3 binary which isn't even 2 you need to find your respective firmware in a bit 7 or higher.

yes, if you get a firmware version matching the one last installed on your device, itll go right thru and boot just fine. Goodlock is finally working on all modules for A10 as well. Maybe we will see more development occur with this shutdown going on. Let us know if you run into any trouble, the error you were getting is totally resolvable!
at the end I give up on it..! my internet 2 slow 4 go downloading & trying rom after rom.! i am from venezuela.

I have S20+ running Android 11 with U7 Binary. I tried downgrading to Androi 10 which has Binary U5. Now I have downloaded the Binary U5 file. But in some video, he is telling that you should download the Binary File with the same number as it is currently installed in your phone, which in my case is U7. So? Am I supposed to download U7 Combination Binary file and flash it in order to downgrade to Android 10
OR
Should I flash the U5 Combination File and flash the Android 10 AP, CSC, BL, HOME ???

Lock bootloader and update via OTA

Hello, I'm quite new. I downgraded from Pie to Oreo with Miflash a couple of years ago cause I had wifi problems. I got V9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF now. I want lock bootloader and keep updating via OTA. Which version should I install? stock version? Or some Pie version? I will lose all data of the phone right ? And where I can get the ROM? The old links I had not working now. Thanks
If you want security updates you have to use Android 10 but it's got some "known issues" you may not like. 11.0.16.0
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.16.0.QDLMIXM/daisy_global_images_V11.0.16.0.QDLMIXM_20201225.0000.00_10.0_79e5becb5f.tgz
If you just want to go back to Pie, you may as well get the last version. 10.0.20.0
There's a list of stock images here:

Thanks @a1291762 Yes I prefer something stable so I'll install 10.0.20.0. I enter into fastboot mode and flash with miflash(clean all) right?
And I'm wondering if It is possible to lock the bootloader to update via OTA in the future? (clean and lock) It is possible with that version or you need to install the first Android 8.1.0 [V9.6.4.0.ODLMIFF] ?

I haven't used miflash only the fastboot scripts. But I believe miflash has a lock bootloader option. As long as you are also flashing all of the partitions, it's safe to use. Note that you do not need a locked bootloader to OTA.
You can use that version (10.0.20.0). There is no need to use an older one.
If you are downgrading you need to flash a newer modem because it fails if you downgrade the modem firmware. That makes it trickier to flash and lock. Replacing the file works with the fastboot scripts.
After install, you will need to immediately enable developer mode to disable automatic system updates. Otherwise your phone will install Android 10 automatically.
Thanks it has been helpful. So can I update via OTA after install a fastboot ROM, no matter if bootloader is lock or unlock? Is that possible when you downgrade?

Yes. OTA only requires the A/B partitions to be unmodified. You can have an unlocked bootloader.
If you root with Magisk or install TWRP then your partitions will be modified. If you don't do that, you can OTA without issue.

FWIW: I am lending my phone to somebody else, and didn't want them to have to put up with Android 10's quirks (particularly the need to reboot regularly) so I put the phone into fastboot mode and used flash_all_lock_crc.sh from the Android 9 (10.0.20.0) fastboot image. https://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.0.20....0.PDLMIXM_20200327.0000.00_9.0_2baf524aaf.tgz
Since I didn't have an Android 11 ROM handy, I left the 10.0.20.0 modem image in there, but it seems to be fine (for my single SIM in slot 2). I guess the modem thing (needing to flash a newer image) only applies to Android 8?
Before I let the phone on the network, I enabled developer mode and turned off automatic updates. Disabling the notification category Google Play Services -> System Update should prevent any prompts to install system updates.

Can't verify update

I'm trying to update my Redmi Note 8 Pro global from 12.0.8 to 12.5.1 manually since it doesn't find new updates no matter what i do.
I downloaded the ROM and selected it in "Choose update package", it tries to verify the update for a few seconds then just show me the message "Can't verify update. Couldn't verify update package." or "Can't verify update. Can't flash this stable ROM."
I tried to install it via USB flashing it with mi flash tool, still got the same message.
Does anyone know a fix for this, or at least why this is happening? Any help are appreciated.
Unlock bootloader, download the appropriate ROM for your version of smartphone (fastboot version), delete the check from the flash bat and you can flash. First try flashing, see if it boots. If everything is OK, you can try flash and lock.

I fear that you might have misunderstood me. You cannot relock the bootloader while running a modified stock rom/custom rom. You can only relock the bootloader on a stock rom.

Are you running the latest stock version of your rom? Then, if you plan on using a smartphone with a locked bootloader, you already are. With a locked bootloader you won't get unofficial updates.

The rom from Xiaomi.eu is a custom rom. Xiaomi.eu is a group of enthusiasts who modify the stock Xiaomi rom, adding and removing features. Make no mistake, that's a custom rom. Close the bootloader with that one installed and you hard brick your device. The method I told you is the official one, which makes downgrading and upgrading your phones super easy. Now, if you want to flash a different version of the stock rom to your phone and lock the bootloader afterwards, be careful. There were reports that nothing happened and everything worked, but unfortunately not that many. A different stock rom might have a different cell tower reception, not adjusted to your country. So you might get less reception.

I just wanted to ask that on website:- https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/apollo/ there is miui updates (i downloaded a fastboot 5.2g latest one 12.5.10.0) and firmware of 150mbs. So i have to install both firmware and miui rom? Or just stock miui rom? I read somewhere that firmware is for user which come from very old stock rom to latest one. So how to install firmware?
