Edit Preface: Using AOSP ROM, Rooted, and phone works fine. Just below issues.
Are we just supposed to flash partition backups from payload? Cant even MSM. MSM tool and computer pickup device (QDL device in device manager) but won't start handshake. Any thoughts?
You're supposed to use MSM only when going back to stock ROM. No other way around. Also, install proper drivers and it will work just fine.

I guess I worded that wrong. I'm currently on xtended trying to go back to stock. Installed all drivers, switched cables, installed newest platform tools, nada worked.

What platform are you talking about? Again, you can only go back to stock with MSM, and if it's for some reason failing, I can only imagine that your drivers are not correctly installed.

All I want to do is flash back to stock, I feel like I am gonna lose my my mind or go buy a new phone. I have mostly spent a solid 10 hours of time trying to get it to work.
I have been endlessly looking, searching, trying all these different methods to get my ls980 to connect to my pc. So basically everytime I have hooked it up it comes up as unreconized or unknown device doesn't connect.
List of things: Latest LG mobile drivers I have installed them through there exe and tried to install them manually when the ! comes up on the device. I have tried my laptop and my desktop every usb in all of them. I have tried the stock cable, and about 8 other different cables. I have tried it in debugging mode with mtp and without debugging. I tried the support tool as well. Tried composite usb setting.
I guess I am at a loss at this point to what even to try besides sending it to be repaired. Which I don't feel like it's a phone problem and I am just missing something I can't find, I say this because the phone charges perfectly fine and no damage to the usb port at all. If anyone has good information or just a direction I can go will be greatly appericated.

It works just fine, only notable thing that I never figured out was why OTA updates don't ever take, it's still on ZVC. I tried the T-mobile d802 drivers as it was suggested by another post I saw on here.
And you've removed all drivers to android and lg for it.

Correct, I uninstalled them, tried new ones a couple different ways from other posts, and removed them and tried again. Right now I just have them all uninstalled. Trying to figure out if it's something that's stopping it. In error I did forget that a couple times it reconized it but would :fail to start code 10.

OK, that shouldn't be the problem. Zvc yet updates do not take.
Is it rooted?
And it is running on sprint network?

Long story short, it's on ZVC, even with other updates that came up it would never update past it. I took it into sprint several times they didn't know why, I did root it as one guy said that was an option, I used stump root, but then I unrooted as I felt I was getting into something too complicated. It is on the sprint network, about 90% of the time and all the times I tried to update previous to the root/unroot. But I am not trying to update it since the root, mostly trying to restore to stock and start overish.
I'm thinking maybe a virtual machine with Linux might find it. If it can then there is something. And maybe we can redo the partitions and such.

As for driver removal, one thing I remember with the nexus devices. There is wugfresh nrt, nexus root toolkit. Let me see which application or program they loaded for removal before reinstall of drivers. I know they have 2 places you check into.
Dang, I'll have to try to load them via a windows emulator. I'm running Linux right now.

Let me know.. I am kinda at the point where I might try to find someone to flash it back to stock, and just activated my old phone til it gets back.. like I am past the point of frustration and no legit just don't get why, since all my other devices have zero issues connecting.
I need some help because I am puzzled on what to do. The other night, I tried to change roms on my Pixel XL. I'm used to being able to just flash everything once in whatever order and be fine (it was much simpler years ago when I got started with modding).
Anyways, I flashed FireHound rom and gapps, but forgot the vendor. I flashed twrp and that put me into a bootloop. It would reboot back into recovery each time. So I reflashed Pixel Dust, the rom I was on before, since I didn't have a backup. I forgot to make one. Lol.
Flashed the vendor, rom, and twrp. Rebooted to a clean rom. However, I'm not rooted. I attempt to go back to twrp - and I can't. It goes straight to Android recovery/ no command screen. I can't get back into twrp.
Since this, I downloaded the newest factory image so I could just reflash and start over and fix it. But I cannot connect to any computer. I've tried multiple cables, multiple computers, and each time I get a "USB device not recognized" error. Device manager shows my device as "Unknown USB device (device descriptor request failed)." I've attempted to reinstall/update the USB drivers, windows won't update it because it says it's already up to date. Windows 10 is what I'm using.
So I am stuck. Can anyone help me? Or did I completely screw everything up?
Thanks in advance,
Sam

Thanks, I tried that. Still nothing different.
Do you get any response on the phone when in bootloader and USB cable is plugged in?
Have you checked to make sure that your adb/fastboot programs are at the latest revision?

I've updated the adb/fastboot versions from the sdk. I've updated the USB drivers. Or attempted to. And I get no response from the phone when in any mode.
Got any friends with a Linux machine? It's been ages since I used Windows to talk to my phone. I'll plug it in when I get home, though, to see if my phone is recognized.

No I don't. But I suppose I could set up a Linux virtual machine and try it that way. It's been a while since I've used Linux. You think it could work?

I'm not sure. I think a virtual box would still use the windows drivers. Good luck.

hello thanks for responding.the issue is a little bit different with my phone.it is showing up as a usb device and not as a mobile/unknown device
Morning all.
Need help or advice with this one.
I have recently flashed an Android 12 build and reverted back to the latest MP Android 11 build. I can't go in to what build it was or how I flashed back to the stable build (please don't ask) but I noticed various issues with the phone such as not being able to factory reset the phone from the OS.
I tried to use the MSM tool to put the phone back to stock but it stops at the parameter check stage coming up with Param Failure.
I'm pretty sure the problem is with the Qualcomm drivers. The phone is showing QHUSB_BULK and I can install the driver for that but it won't revert back to QDLOADER 9008, nor am I able to flash the Windows update.
I have tried this on various different PC's and with Windows forced to flash unsigned drivers with no success.
I'm currently on LOS as I tried to flash the latest OOS build using TWRP and I lost a lot of functionality such as fingerprint sensor, microphones etc so I reverted back to LOS.
I'm pretty sure it's the driver that are at fault but I'm worried I've corrupted the vendor keys on the phone.
Short of contacting OnePlus for help, has anyone got any ideas? Any advice welcome.
Many thanks.

Jeez, I am soo *&%$ing stupid.
God bless you sir, I've sorted it. Grabbed an old laptop with a genuine copy of Windows that didn't have all it's telemetry disabled and managed to flash the phone with the Windows driver.
I think I'd tried everything including this at the start so it was a case of not seeing the wood for the trees.
You're star mate, thanks for advice.
You can close this now, many thanks.
I've been trying to flash my Pixel 6 Pro to the April update, via the Android Flash Tool. Every time I attempt to flash it, I get this error:
"no content length in head response: status=200"
I've run into a few issues in the past, but this one has me stumped. I'm using a 2017 Pixelbook, and it's been updated. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi @OnePlusPat16,
Unfortunately, several months ago in this section, several users reported that trying to flash from a Chromebook doesn't work. I assume that's still the case. I can't test this myself since I don't have a Chromebook.
You are using the latest SDK Platform Tools, though?
Yes, I updated everything via crosh. Also, I tried with my windows laptop, and the same things happens.

No, all stock. Was on February update, and tried to flash to March.
I was able to finally get the tool to work. I clean flashed the June firmware, but had to use the Edge browser. Something with Google Chrome isn't allowing me to flash

Yes. I was going to run chrome diagnostics, to see if there is anything wrong.
I ran Chrome Diagnostics, and everything came back normal. So, I disabled all my extensions, and I was able to flash normally. If anyone runs into this issue, or similar, try disabling the extensions.
Ptxel 2xl. Stock. I can root and i can flash stock firmware. I have used productpartition-pixel2xl-extended.zip. I have changed cables and insured the google drivers are installed. On the same PC i can flash custom roms on my 3xl 4a5G 6Pro and 7Pro.
I have flashed the latest stock to both slots and done a factory reset to bith slots. I just can not get a rom to flash. I can flash partitions individually like vbmeta and boot and system. Can't get a rom to go.
I have tried all the recoveries that come with the roms and also i have tried several versions of twrp and PBRP to no availl.
Any ideas would be great. Not a noob but this has me stumped. I wil even mail it to someone that thinks they can get it flashed with a custom rom! lol
Ideas?

Doubt I can help you here, but mailing it would not be a good idea, using remote control software could be smarter.
I know you've already tried, but these two things are practically always the problem:
1) Using a new USB port on the computer. USB-C is particularly problematic.
2) Wrong drivers. The PC can use different drivers depending on whether the phone is in normal, bootloader or recovery mode. So you need to check your drivers while the phone is in recovery.

Only to flash stock and to root. Most roms are a sideload updates and i can't figure out how to use PF to do custom roms.
I had the same issue in recovery mode. I resolved it by buying a USB hub and connecting the phone through that.
