I bought a Nexus 5X from ebay a few months ago sold as new condition.
I'm having different issues with the Wifi. First the signal strength and range are much worse than all my other devices. In one room of the house farthest from the router it loses connection every few minutes and maintains a speed test result of less than 10Mbps with 2.4 GHz. With 5 GHz it can't even see the access point.
My OnePlus 7 Pro gets 40+ Mbps on both 2.4 and 5 GHz with no issues at all from the same location.
With a different ethernet connected wireless access point in the room the Nexus 5X gets 25-30 Mbps, which is acceptable but it should be faster considering it has full signal strength.
With the phone right next to the router connected to 5 GHz it will show a full speed of 44 Mbps but file downloads (using thinkbroadband test downloads) never load faster than about 100 KB/s which isn't even close to 44 Mbps. I can't even upload to my local network file share at more than 1 MB/s.
I'm not sure how speedtest.net is showing fast speeds but file transfers are extremely slow. The signal range is much worse than any other device I have.
I had a Nexus 5 before this 5X and didn't start to have wifi issues until it was more than 5 years old. Is it possible that this phone was refurbished but sold as new? Or is this just common and I shouldn't expect better?
I've tried two routers and different Android ROMs from 6.0 up to 9, all with similar results which confirms this is a hardware issue.
I've tried contacting my ISP for these issues in the past but they always respond saying their tests show nothing wrong so its not a problem.
I have the squaretrade warranty from ebay but is it worth it trying to get this issue fixed or if i get another phone will it have the same issue?
Web browsing works fine but file downloads and uploads are extremely slow.
I've owned an A50 for a year, on Comcast with the newest router XB7. After running speed tests with my A50 and iPhone 8 plus. The A50 gets 330 down speed and the iPhone 8 gets over 600 both tested on the 5ghz side. None of the phones are wifi 6. I also own a Samsung S5E tablet that also gets 330 on testing. Can some explain to me why that is? Thanks
Can someone at least post the max speeds you get on a 5ghz network
Thanks
Hey guys.
Purchased it today, and just like every damn Samsung phone and tablet they still haven't fixed wifi strength signal with even such expensive phone.
So I was out of town and from like 7 wifi signals, only 2 were recognized.
And even when it connects the signal is so weak and it often drops.
Now I'm in my room now and like 3 feet away from router and I'm getting around 6.7 MBps speed instead of between 9-10 just like on my good old S7 edge.
I can't believe.
So is it my phone or others have the same issues?
I have never had a single issue regarding wifi signal strenght, I got my note 10+ since Sept 2019
So I came today in city park, sit on bench and turned ON WiFi on this phone.
Damn,it couldn't find nor any fi..ing single network over WiFi.
I rebooted it like 5 times and then it found one network and barely connected to it with very low signal, but in a matter of minutes it droped.
I had near me,Ulefone 5S which is 200 euros phone and it had better WiFi signal and found at least 5 networks, although with very weak signal, but Samsung couldn't find nor one WiFi network.
Because I purchased used phone ofc I can't return it or RMA it.
Am I the only one with this issue, and how do I resolve it?
But if I'm like in a caffee where is near router the signal is okay, but when I'm outdoors I have this issue, means far away from caffee routers.
Ok I did test outdoors compared with S7 edge.
Do you notice any difference,in terms that N10+ has some issues:
So there is one place in city, where there are lots ofi wifi networks but all of them have weak signal.
So I turned ON the phone and WiFi and it didn't find nor any single network,I turned off wifi on again nothing.
Here is the picture of that issue.
I also can not find what model of wifi card is in my phone,to check if it was replaced,so I'm suspicious about that.
Btw I don't have any wifi issues when I am on local coffee shops/bars nor at home.
Just at places where like wifi signal is weak and like there are many networks at that place.
So what is this issue about.
I just went to my balcony and simply this phone doesn't detect as many networks as some chinese phone,N10+ detected just 8 and chinese phone 13.
Then all of the sudden phone goes crazy in like 5-10 min and detects like 12 network.
And though signal strength is nearly the same between phones,I'm getting even 10 % lost in download when I do speed test and compare 2 phones.
so third video, compared to my tablet and s7 edge.
and I will post pics.
Correct me if I am wrong but on tablet and on the phone on the right yeah I see more network recognized but those have weak signal...
N10+ obviously doesn't list those networks for some reason (with weak/no signal).

As you do clearly see on picture N10+ is screwed up recognizing only one wifi network, and my Ulefone Power 5S many...so what is happening I dunno.
Even S7 edge beats it.
I had the same experience on my black note 10+ (4G black model), it would drop the wifi quite often during video playback while my Mate 30 Pro would just continue on the same network. That improved after I reset the network settings and cleared the system cache. I had/have a far more stable connection after that. As for the speed, the Mate 30 Pro would always achieve higher speeds than the note 10 +, no matter how many times I did the tests on both devices. As for the amount of networks it shows, my current note 10+ ( a 4G model but a white one) does only display 1 network at home while the Mate 30 Pro shows 5 or 6 different networks but all of them with a very weak signal strength. Besides them all being password protected I doubt if the Huawei would be able to connect with any of these so whats the point of showing all these weak networks. Maybe that's the reason the note 10 does not show them? Maybe the are filtered?
Both the black and the white are showing similar behavior, I have them both side by side and both are showing the same (single) network being available.
No problem with wifi with my Note 10+ N975F/DS, Good and stable connections.
I do confirm that in the wifi settings only stronger networks are displayed. When using app like WiFi Analyser I can see that there are more networks detected on the Note 10+ than shown in the wifi settings.
I do observe that wifi speeds on Note 10+ are lower than those provided by my Note 8, comparing/measuring side by side on same wifi network.
But in daily use the Note 10+ has sufficient wifi stability and -speed for my normal use, (matching the speed of my Internet connection of 100Mb) including streaming of HD-Video. I do not play online videogames.
Yep for some reason my Note 10+ doesn't show networks with bad wifi signal, dunno if it's just my model or you experience the same.
But for phone such expensive this is unforgivable.
Look here guys,it does recognize wifi networks with wifi analyzer but doesn't filtrate them so I can connect to them, same happens with my S5e tablet.
That's what I already stated...
You can however connect to wifi-networks detected in WiFi Analyzer (WA) by installing a plug-in (just click on the network in WA, it will prompt you what to install..)

Nothing is happening when I click on network.
You need a new director for your videos.
Hi folks. I have been using the device for a few months, but have not had great speeds on 5g. In fact, the 5g speed is the same as the 4g speed when I test.
I then took the SIM out and put it in the Poco F3 and 5g speed went from 10 to 130 (down).
Has anyone had similar experience with 5g connection? I am not sure if might be the Poco gets a stronger signal strength, or whether there are other issues. Both devices are compatible (and sold by) my carrier.
5G is very dependent on near direct line of sight to the tower, distant and available bandwidth. 5G may not be fully integrated where you are, but it will probably improve over time.
Many websites limit their bandwidth and they end up being the bottleneck even with 4G.
5G requires more energy so disable it if it gives you no speed benefit and boosts your battery life.
5G works well if you have a good signal and are transfering large amounts of data. Otherwise it's wasteful and not needed.
Yes, but Samsung and F3 tested in same location within 5 minutes of each other. Samsung got 10 down. F3 got 130 down. Same network. Same sim

It's probably the local network...
4G works well for me so I deliberately blew off 5G. Lots of problems with 5G, still.
Plus my unlimited data 4G plan is grandfathered.
Hello team,
I have a question regarding the Samsung Galaxy A54 smartphone. I've noticed that the LTE 4G signal is weaker on SIM 2 compared to SIM 1. SIM 1 and SIM 2 have different operators, and it's not surprising that SIM 1, usually having a better network, shows a stronger signal. The problem lies in the fact that I previously had the Samsung Galaxy A52S, and in the same location, it showed a signal strength of -96 dBm and 42 asu, while the A54 shows -106 dBm and 36 asu, one bar less than the A52S. So, it's the same SIM card (which is essentially new, received it about 30 days ago), and I've had the A54 for about 15 days now.
To sum up, the phone is new, the SIM card is new, the phone works perfectly fine (except for the issue with Bluetooth disconnection in the car, which is likely due to the car's 2012 Bluetooth system being only for hands-free calls), there are no damages (it's a new phone, there's nothing to discuss in that regard). I'm just curious about this LTE signal strength issue.
Now, I don't know if there's a possibility that the algorithm displaying LTE signal strength is more accurate on the A54, showing a more precise strength compared to the A52S? Is it possible that there's a firmware bug that could be fixed in the future? Could it be that the A54 has a different manufacturer for the LTE modem compared to the A52S, resulting in different signal strengths and so on? I don't know any of this, so I thought I'd ask here if there's anyone with a deeper understanding of the architecture and hardware of the A54? Official specification lists don't provide this information, and since my phone is new, I would really like to solve this "mystery."
Regarding other differences between these two phones related to this issue:
On the A54, both SIM cards can connect to 5G, while on the A52S, only the SIM card with mobile data enabled could do so.
The A54 uses the Exynos SoC, while the A52S uses the Snapdragon SoC.
Could anyone know what the issue might be?
Thank you very much
