Samsung owners from entire world, and other galaxies, unite here and help me please! Help your brother in need
Ok, let me start with this,
I bought a note 2 n7100 couple of days ago, and I have problem, i don't wanna believe that I have to change entire display, because, it's way to pricy.
My touch screen reacts perfectly with stylus, and when I try to use my fingers, NOTHING :/ It won't react, i tried everything, from factory reset, to entire ROM change, but nothing happens :/ It still doesn't work with my fingers, stylus perfect, but fingers, nothing.
Please tell me that I can fix it somehow without entire display replacement, i googled it, but blank, tried every trick that i've found and still nothing.
Greetings
PS. I just need confirmation that it is hardware problem, and that I can kill all my hopes about fixing it any software way

maybe you should search if only digitizer could be replaced. It is cheap compared to whole lcd

I doubt that it is possible, ive heard that digitizer is glued to the screen :/
Actually it is possible, search for 'LE55ONS' on youtube, he has a video that shows the complete disassembly of the Galaxy Note II's screen.
I heaved same problem, i think because condensation inside your phone.
This a strange one to say the least. I have a Nexus 7, Zenfone 2 ZE551ML and a Padfone-x so I'm certainly an Asus fan and I decided to buy the ZE550 16gb Zenfone 2 for my son. He loves it. I took it from him for a few days and put it in my bedside drawer. Yesterday I took it out to charge it with my THL 5000t charger (this is the same charger I use on my padfone-x without any issues). I left it charging for about 4 hours, tried to switch it on and found a crack in the lower left third that stretches almost all the way across the screen with that purple ink stain blob running up the left side. There is ZERO physical surface damage to the screen. Nothing. Not a scratch or blemish on the outside of the phone, front, back, sides, screen NOTHING.
The screen is blank now when it's "on" and it's also relatively warm. I can only conclude that the phone overheated and damaged the screen. Did a Google search and found something similar with a Zenfone 5 from last year I think. But I've never heard of it apart from that. The phone is less than two months old so it's still covered by Asus USA but the problem is that I'm in Africa and won't be back for another month or more. Unfortunately I get the feeling Asus are going to dispute my problem based on using a thl charger and/or saying I damaged the phone. I've ordered a screen anyway but I'm going to take it up with them tomorrow and see if they step up. Has anyone else encountered this type of issue with any brand before?
I have no issue with other chargers. i have owe many phone.and many chargers. All of them work but without quick charge option
I suppose its possible that the battery got too hot, expanded and cracked the screen but not the panel...
Wow is all I can say. Asus are replacing the phone completely. No quibbling, just a description of the circumstances and the physical condition of the phone along with the serial number. Excellent, excellent customer service. I'm impressed.
Now, since I'm returning it, can someone tell me how to flash/wipe this phone via pc without a screen?
I would say your best bet is to get the phone into fastboot mode and go from there. This is pretty easy since all you have to do is hold the volume up button while it powers on. In fastboot, you can issue commands from your computer while the phone is connected by USB.
Look in the [index] or around the forum for a guide on flashing either stock or something similar and it should go through all the steps of getting ADB/fastboot working and go through the basics of fastboot. If I find the time, I'll try find one for you in case you don't know where to start.

I'll try it and get back to you. Thanks.
I don't know if this has been asked before.
But is it possible to just let the Iris Scanner scans our eyes right when the screen turns on? Like, I have the cover on, then I flip the cover open, screen turns on, and Iris Scanner will do its job. RATHER than having to swipe the screen once.
And is it possible to accept phone call using Iris Scanner?

The short answer is no but both would be welcome changes.

Not sure what you mean by that. Edge lighting is contact color specified.

Iris scanner and Laser eye surgery
Hi Everybody,
I am new to posting but not new to following many samsung note 3,4,5 forums.
I just bought a Note 7 N930FD in Vietnam, Gold color. I would maybe have chosen another color but i didn’t have the choice. The manager at Phone Shop told me Samsung was having issues with the Black color getting to hot.
Anyway to get to my issue. It’s the iris scanner. It doesn’t give a complete successful scan of my eyes. The most it reached was 90%. Although mostly it doesn’t reach that % often mostly it fails within a minute or so.
I am wondering if anyone else is having issues getting their eyes scanned. I went back to the shop and the manager scanned his eyes, right away it was a success. He did it a second time with the same result.
So i conclude it not a issue with the phone or software.
The only 2 factors that maybe causing failed scans for me, are i had laser eye surgery many years ago. I have no idea if that is effecting it or not. Maybe if there is someone reading this who also had laser eye surgery and they used the iris scanner with success, would you please let me know. The other possibility is my eyelids don’t open enough to have the scanner complete the scan.
Beside this issue the phone is working really well. No lag, smooth scrolling. The speaker isn’t as loud as would like in comparison to my Note 5. But my note 5 was rooted with Viper/ AryaMod_Premium_Sound_Control installed, which was excellent. I don’t intend to root the Note 7 until i use the phone for 3 or 4 months, then i’ll see what is available with custom roms.
Also a side note, i didn’t have issue with using a sim card and memory card in the draw. It ejects ok when i apply slight pressure with the pin tool. The other thing was that the spring in the spen works fine, i did read someone said that theirs got stuck in the phone. I find after i eject the pen, i push back in the spring loaded top end. Then when i put it back into place i don’t need to push the spring loaded top. Just slide it into place easily till it clicks….

- Note 7 black color gets too hot? Just an excuse. Never heard such thing. I'm using the black one myself. Wish I got the silver one but because pre-order stock ran out after 6 hours of the first day.
- Have you tried with other device to see if it get stuck on 90% also? I've never heard of that as well. Maybe eye surgery caused that. But try it on other device first to confirm.

I am living in a small city in Vietnam. Only one shop now have Note 7 and they had 2 gold models. All in sealed box they won't open, only if you buy it. Usually they have display models. There is no display model to try what you suggest. Maybe in the next week or so i'll give it a go when they are on display. although the scanner worked fine for the shop manager, so i don't think its my phone or software. Yes i can't say if the guy is spinning a story about the black color, but it might be the case for the ones coming out of the Vietnam samsung factory that are effected!
Finally scan worked
Well I reset the phone, after was able to scan my eyes after a few attempts. End of Story for now!
I'm looking at buying this phone. It has pretty much all the features I want, but I'm wondering if there are any other downsides/problems with it.
Some people don't like MIUI.
Some people don't like the camera performance.
Would be nice if it had NFC.
Would be nice if it was dual sim + micro SD, not combo slot where you lose a sim spot by using micro SD. Not into doing hacks to get use of dual sim + microSD.
Would be nice if it was USB-C.
This phone is a direct competitor for Asus zenfone max Pro M1 6gb variant. Compared to that, both phone weights 180gm. Asus beats redmi note 5 pro in all aspects. Asus ships with stock android, 5000mah battery & doesn't need to wait 15 days to unlock bootloader. Dual SIM slot with dedicated SD card slot is an added advantage. 6gb varient has camera that is in par with redmi note 5 pro camera. Qualcomm quick charge is 3.0 is there for Asus where as Redmi note 5 pro has quick charge 2.0. Notification light is RGB for Asus where as redmi offers plain white light.
Other than the already mentioned above..
The cheap a$$ buttons .. the power button clicks twice sometimes when you just click on it once..
Getting the power menu is a hassle..as holding the power button will turn on and off your screen..so usually it'd need me 3 to 5 times to get the power menu.. and this problem existed since the redmi note 4 and xiaomi didn't bother to fix it.
Another one I'd say is the saturation of the screen.. but you 'd get used to it
I thought I'm the only one with that power button issue. Other than that, I haven't come across any issues that could stop you from purchasing this phone.
QC 3.0 is available on this phone. I have posted this here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76842206&postcount=27
Wow mine was like that too and its freaking annoying. I thought it was a hardware issue.
so far i haven't faced any problem and im happy with my purchase . By the way i dont have power button issue
You may totally avoid power button except for . Shortcut on screen for screen lock, and double tap to wale for unlock with pin or face unlock. It works quite good with very less impact on battery.
Bought the phone a week ago, nothing to complain about, except the long wait to unlock. In terms of price/performance it is very hard to beat, IMHO.
Bricked the phone yesterday, following a sloppy xda custom ROM guide. Looks like thousands have the same problem. Looks like Xiaomi is not interested in helping at all.
Destroyed all goodwill they had with me, will buy something else and forget I ever was a customer.
A huge change in attitude compared to 2 years ago.
I miss NFC, but thats about it.
Im someone who always puts a custom rom on a phone straight out of the package. So there may be things that WOULD bug me that I just never saw. MIUI for example. No idea if I'd like it.
But this phone is extremely awesome
Guys the power button is not the issue, the back cover is, remove it and it's fixed, change the back cover,
Thanks a lot for the answer. Thankfully none of those are a deal breaker for me.
ARB and fake unlock. Good luck with those problem.
Could you elaborate? What are those exactly?
Hi there,
I recently changed the screen of my OP 3 because it fell on the floor and did not show anything afterwards (I don't know if this only damaged the screen or also other parts of the phone).
Now, the screen works very well and and the phone does turn on as well (I even type this with my OP3). But I now have two problems:
1) My phone shuts down almost immediately after I lock it (after one or two seconds I can still unlock it but after 5 seconds or so it is dead). It does not shut down while the screen is on, though.
2) It heats quite a lot during using and especially during charging. I know, this seems to be a general issue with older OP phones and happened to me as well, but never to that extent (after charging 30 min it gets overheated which never happened before).
Plus, there are two issues that might or might not be related to these to problems so I add them as well: My volume control buttons did not work before the screen replacement, which is quite odd, because the power button works well. And I think I have destroyed the home button/fingerprint scan while changing the screen.
What do you think, is there any hope of solving these problems without having to buy a new phone?
Best, thank you all!
Clemens
Oneplus 3's sides buttons assembly is really fragile. When i was replacing my screen i replaced it too. With my second display, i broke the replacement button ribbon and installed the original one. So you might broke it.
For screen issue, are you using latest OxygenOS? Because some custom roms have issues with third party displays.

Most likely a hardware issue. To confirm, clean flash OOS latest version (9.0.6 I think) and check. If it is ok, your problem is solved. If not, there are too many variables (screen, volume, home button and any other thing that you disturbed while replacing the screen) to trouble-shoot.
