I live in Taiwan and order my oneplus3 from China, but not from the official seller
Jindong or oneplus site but form 3rd party seller on Taobo, which is in Shenzhen.
Thay have sold hundreds of oneplus3 and have most high praise in Taobo- Shenzhen
My oneplus3 take over 7 days shipping to my hand.
While I 1st unbox my oneplus on 9/6 , it has already bootloader unlock and TWRP 3.2.0 installed. As you know, the 3 party seller sold me the used device, but it's not fake, it has full package and correct IMEI with it, I also cheked IMEI on oneplus official site.
I have no choice but jut to accept a used device with new-one price.
I immediately update to official TWRP 3.2.1 and install freedomOs CB 1.6, XPOSED, rooted, everything looks fine.
But after 4 days uesd, while I change system font with ifont and it won't boot to system, jut stuck at 1+ boot screen, after
a dozen of secnods , automatically boot into TWRP , it even can't boot into TWRP , just hang on TWRP logo,
Fastboot flash other version of TWRP, still can't boot into both system and TWRP.
After fastboot flash stock recovery, it can boot into recovery, and then flash TWRP -> boot in TWRP. But still can't mount system/data/cache, some boots even unable to mount internal storage.
(While on stock recovery, ADB sideload OTA.zip from official site always stuck at 47%)
Fastboot erase usersdata and TWRP format still don't work, no lucky, can't mount system/data/cache.
I ask my colleague hand carry my oneplus3 during his business trip, return it to the 3rd party seller. The 3rd party seller only took 3 days to ship to oneplus to fix it and return to them, and .. return to my colleague.
While my colleague got the phone, it work fine with bootloader lock, Chinese H2 OS for more then one week.=>( So that it's not the hardware issue, not internal SD Corrupt?)
I ask he to test it as he can, after 2weeks. He come to Taiwan and bring it to me. He dose not find any problem with daily use on bootloader locked H2 OS.
When I got the "return" oneplus 3 ,
fastboot unlock booloader->
Decrypt follow this: Decrypt OxygenOS without losing data
i also see this:SOLVED][TWRP]Unable to Decrypt Storage
I think is might be CB rom Unstable and encryption issue.
So I install FreedomOS 1.6 and decrypt data this time.
But guess what happen!?
It have happen again and again more then 5 times -
no flash anything, no reboot, just in system used-> got lag->got black screen-> got reboot->unable to reboot system-> unable to mount/wipe/restore data/system/cache in official TWRP.
The only solution seems to "fastboot format users data" , then I can mount/restore/format data/cache/system , till now, i am confused, I don't know if its software or hardware issue, I just spent too many hours on it!
Please help, any advise is welcome...and.. sorry for my English, tried my best.
This issue is really weird.
Can you share the logs given by TWRP, with the kernel log of your twrp recovery.
To do:
Code:
adb shell
dmesg > /tmp/dmesg.log
exit
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log <path_on_your_computer>
adb pull /tmp/dmesg.log <path_on_your_computer>
All theses things needs to be done directly in twrp, adb is needed.
If you want to boot into system after decrypting it, you have to flash supersu, otherwise OOS will encrypt itself at next boot, causing a brick. Also try the modded version of twrp.

For more information: I didn't try to decrypt data before my oneplus3 return to China, I did decrypt it after it return form China, and I only flash freedom OS 1.6 with systemless SU t and stock (patch) kernel, than flash EX kernel, i believe both of them is patched, disable force decrypting.
My decrypt sequence: Unlock bootloader->fastboot format users data-> flash freedom1.6 with systemlessSU let it boot without configuration ->work fine for 3 days and brick after 4 days used with serval times of booting.(less then 5 times)
Every time before my oneplus3 get this type of in-system-used-brick, I see some root access issue or permission issue, that is V4A driver lost, I have no permission to move my files in media storage( for example, move some files from download folder to XpoasedInstaller folder), or Dolby atom crash....
The latest brick, I used my phone on bed for more than 2 hours with no issue, suddenly Dolby ATOM crash, unable to open it and V4a lost its driver, then I try to boot into TWRP to make a boot/system/data backup, but it fail to mount data and system partition.
Even on system-mode SU, It still happen two times of in system brick.
So now i set SELunx permission and do frequently TWRP and Ti-back, I believe It would brick again few days later. At least after many times of Try/error, I can confirm "format uesers data then I can use TWRP for system/data partition.

It happen again while this morning I get up and updating two apps,
It freeze then reboot to recovery, unable to mount system/data again.
I have the latest nandroid data/system/boot backup last night, i believe it finally would be brick again.
Here is the log.
I will keep it in the state, please help, I won't "fastboot format usersdata" this time, till we know the cause, and have your instruction.
EDIT: upload the video, you can see it unable to boot in sysytm, in TWRP can't mount system/data/cache , unable to back/restore/install anything

My friend test with completely stock/ bootloader lock for more one week in Chian (oneplus
service Centre in Shenzhen recoverey it ), every thing is fine just without google service.
Yesterday,I just re-flash freedom 1.6.1 on cleanest status, fastboot formate userdata-> TWRP format (without this both nandroid or new flas rom won't boot up)-- BOOT
After two days used, every things is fine, but just half hours ago my phone brick with all cache/system/data partition encryption while I am in system uesing , I will report detail at night while I have time, i believe I have found the root cause.
Follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oneplus-3-decryption-ultimate-guide-t3497940
At first I tried to update my existing TWRP (3.2.1-0) to the 3.2.1-2 variant. It flashed ok, but then the phone would only boot to TWRP (reason for upgrade is that 3.2.1-0 would hang). I was attempting initially to put myself on the path to a "custom rom". When this failed, I manually flashed the latest google firmware from their page and it still will not do anything other than fastboot mode. No recovery, no firmware load. When I try to do the flash-all.bat method now, all I get after it loads the archive contents is "error: Cannot generate image for userdata. Guess I got a $1000 brick at this point?? Image from the PC screen included.
See if this thread helps.

I am going to have to find another way to look at that thread. My ipad is getting directed to some HTC desire article about and orange and black theme.
I have tried so far very unsuccessfully to wipe everything by booting to twrp via fastboot method. Then I used the dueces script to reflash everything completely (both partitions). No matter whether I flash complete stock or flash magisk and verizon radio files, it just hangs on the white google screen now and that is as far as I have gotten. Left it at home in this mode hoping it will clear.

new adb dont help for me. I cannot flash slot a and change to b and got the error message that no slot is supported.
Still need help? Have you tried Skipsoft? Sure its not been updated but it might beable to help ..
Where fastboot flashing failed for me one time it got me out of a hole....
Otherwise i can try and remote and help... BTW its not finding the userdata file in the fastboot side... Something isnt right hence why it cant create the userdata file...
I try to boot with skipsoft to temp twrp but stuck on boot.img loading. the flashed twrp stuck on twrp logo and before I have changed from slot b to a inside twrp i can boot. now I cannot flash inside fast boot or delete anything.
Have you guys tried Deuces Bootloop Recovery & Flashing Script? I'd imagine you'd run into the same issues as the script runs a lot of the same fastboot commands...but it has worked wonders for many other users so......
I also might try re-downloading the factory image and comparing the Checksums to make sure you have a whole exact download just in case that's getting in the way of properly generating the userdata image. I'd also suggest making sure you have more than 4GB of space on your C drive; I was getting similar messages about not finding or not generating system images because they couldn't be fully extracted (temporarily) because I didn't have sufficient temp space on my C drive.
But I had encountered this issue before. It was either userdata or system_other partition. I did attempt to fastboot erase and fastboot format those partitions and other tweaks; even messed with changing the size of the partition (you might have better luck). What I seemed to conclude is that I was flashing the wrong month's Full Factory image; i.e. I was manually flashing system_other image from February when the whole phone was still on January. But I believe what I ended up doing was flashing a Full Factory image with the "-w" intact; therefore, if you still have access, you should copybackcup (via TWRP or adb pull) your internal storage (/sdcard and-or /data/media) and simply flash a Full Factory image with wipe option enabled...
Just some thoughts and suggestions...hope this helps...
I figured it out finally. Even though my ADB/Fastboot tools were a later creation date than the ones posted online, the ones online worked great. Even used the dueces script to ensure the junk is gone. Thanks all! Hate pesky gotchas like that!!
Hi,
I had this happen about two weeks ago and I wiped my phone and flashed a fresh Android 10 (latest as of two weeks ago). I only restarted my phone because I was having issues with Snapchat so I restarted and it's popped back up again...
I don't want to have to wipe my phone again, I'd just finished logging everything in! I have Magisk and a fingerprint/pin added to my OS so the data in TWRP will be encrypted.
What do I do to fix this? I'd appreciate some help!
Thanks

If your fastbooting the factory image, try switching to your inactive slot, and fastboot the factory image again with the -w removed.

The P2XL is a A/B dual partition device. If you fastboot the factory image with the -w intact within the flash-all.bat file, it will flash to both partition slots. When you remove the -w from the flash-all.bat file, it will only flash to one slot/partition and does not wipe your data. I personally don't use tool kits since I like a more hands on approach. Also, are your platform-tools up to date? If not, that can cause headaches as well.

Exactly. Just make sure you have all the extracted factory image files in your platform-tools folder. If you have to change slots, the command is......fastboot --set-active=a or b. Depending of course on which slot your currently on.
If you don't know which slot your on, run...fastboot getvar all. :good:

So current slot is b? https://i.imgur.com/85l7Y6v.png
Why do I need to have the image files in platform-tools? I have adb setup where I can use it anywhere.
I should do
Code:
fastboot --set-active=a
and then just run the flash-all.bat which I've modified to look like https://i.imgur.com/yGPkqqY.png (removed -w)
I must admit, I don't understand why we have to change from a to b or vice versa... I didn't do that last week when I tried to fix this... I just removed the -w and ran the file which didn't work.

I don't understand everything all the time either. I just know what I have done in the past to fix this issue. It may not work either if you have corrupted internal files or maybe a hardware issue.

You won't be able to mount system/vendor until twrp updates the recovery to accommodate A10 and the new logical partitions that google implemented. If they choose to do so at all. However, the 330-0 version will still flash zips despite throwing vendor/system errors. The way installed twrp is....have a copy of the twrp 330-0 image, not zip, on your phones internal storage. Then fastboot into twrp. Once there, select install, then select image. Go to where your twrp.img file is located, and select it. You will then get a prompt to which partition you want to flash it to...select recovery ramdisk, and flash it. And that's it :good:

Hi everyone, I was usually providing help on this forum, now i'm the one desperate for help after some unforeseen consequences.
Bear in mind I'm kind of a noob anyway.
I have seen the message on the telegram groups for our device regarding solving the los 17 problems with the ril and camera. So i have followed the steps. I flashed the last twrp 3.4 by jarl using the official twrp app and then rebooted to recovery, wiped everything beside the internal storage and tried flashing the last los 16 zip.
And then the disaster happened. firstly the log returned error 7 so i've rebooted to recovery again and attempted to flash the same zip again without wiping anything. well the flashing worked apparently but i couldnt boot into it as it showed me an infinite boot animation.
Then i rebooted to recovery and it prompted me with a decryption key request which i didn't set before. I cancelled the prompt and I moved forward and proceeded wiping everything including the internal storage thinking that was the problem. Maybe it was maybe it wasnt, now I'm no longer prompted by any decryption key, but I was hoping i could connect to my pc through mtp, transfer some zips and flash some functional rom. Even though I enable mtp and my pc detects the phone I can't access any storage nor the internal, nor the sd card.
I tried going through multiple versions of twrp as i can still access my bootloader and i can still flash recoveries through fastboot but i feel that i'm stuck and I dont know what i should try anymore.
Before trying all this I was on an older build of los16 with the oreo firmware.
First of all, use this TWRP: https://build.twrp.me/twrp-3.4.0-0-montana.img
Second of all, do not flash TWRPSARer (if you did). Make sure the LOS16 zip isn't corrupted (which normally causes error 7), then format system, data, cache, vendor and dalvik. Reflash LOS16 and boot

You can try using adb sideload. adb sideload path/to/zip
worked like a charm. thanks a lot, Jarl.
And this, is the story of someone who didn't want to wait long enough for the ROM to boot

Yes, I'll make sure to note that
Hello guys, I recently formatted data on my phone to fix a bootloop I had. After fixing everything, SIM card and wifi was not working, I downloaded the Official Stock ROM of my phone and flashed bluetooth, modem, dsp and dtbo. The original plan was to run "flash_all_except_storage.bat" but that kept throwing errors. After I flashed those things I booted successfully and unlocked my phone. Problem is Wifi still doesn't work. So once again got into fastboot, tried running "flash_all_except_storage.bat", once again it threw an error, so I restarted my phone and ever since I can't boot into system. Whenever I restart it goes straight into fastboot, Power off and on again goes to fastboot, I can boot into TWRP, rebooting from there still goes into fastboot mode. I fix a problem and 2 more take it's place, I really need your help here.
Thanks a lot !
Edit:
Fix Attempt 1 (FAILED): I tried formating data through TWRP as I read online, it did not work
Attempt 2 (FAILED): Used
Code:
fastboot continue
and got this error:
Code:
Resuming boot FAILED (remote: 'Failed to load image from partition: No Media')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Attempt 3 (HALF FIX): After some digging I realized after a failed attempt to run "flash_all_except_storage.bat", the boot was erased. I tried flashing only the boot.img and the phone booted up with the wifi working as well. Problem is after a reboot I go back into fastboot and I have to flash boot.img again to boot into system.

Maybe is some motherboard issues?
I don't believe so. The problem I originally had was that after a restart the phone was booting into fastboot. But if I didn't restart the phone was working fine, cellular, wifi google services everything. So in order to fix that I flashed the full stock rom and that's how I ended up in the restart loop in the first place.

Here are all the details, I started from a completely different problem and ended up here. They entire process I took is in that thread

There is no volume buttons problem?
If no maybe you should reflash whole phone, fastboot, recovery, all, using edl ig.... I don't have this phone or any Snapdragon phone, so I don't really know....
Yeah I did, I used the flash_all.bat that comes with the ROM file and pretty much replaced everything. I tried to run it a couple of times and it failed mostly but I was able to run it twice I think (without changing anything, just running it again and again at some point it worked)

So then why your phone goes to fastboot?
I really don't know, after running flash_all the second time now my phone is stuck in a restart loop. Shows the MI logo and restarts. I can manually boot to recovery or fastboot but if I leave it on it's own it keeps turning on and off

It seems that this a software bug ig, can you try go to recovery and flash the rom?
I could try but I am not sure how to do that. My rom comes in a .tgz format and not .zip and all guides mention you need a .zip file

So where u downloaded the fastboot rom, there is a recovery rom too :
Xiaomi Firmware Updater
The ultimate script that provides firmware packages for Xiaomi devices.
xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
Be sure u download the recovery rom not fastboot.
Btw use your miui version u had
Tho I'm not 100% sure if you flashed the fastboot rom correctly, did u :
1. Open MiFlashTool : download the tool from here if you don't have it ---> https://xiaomiflashtool.com/
2. Select your rom ( make sure your path to the rom isn't long and the folder/folders don't have long names )
3. Connect your phone
4. Click Refresh ( to make your device appear)
5. And click flash
I didn't do it with MiFlashTool because it kept throwing errors at me whenever I launched it so I tried the flash_all.bat batch file that runs cmd commands and flashes everything. the ROM I installed was the fastboot version. The official website on the recovery ROM stated that "This page shows a single update only" so I assumed it's just an update and not the full ROM. I was also told I should use the fastboot variant in the above mentioned thread

Ok so to fix the error : go to miflashtool folder and create a new folder called : log
Fixed the start up error, I get the screen that says "Please install driver", I press Install and I get this:
https://prnt.sc/I53g6bs_8i5w
Pressing ok gets me back to the "Please install driver" screen
Well I just closed the Install driver window and flashed as is, I got this:
https://prnt.sc/Bk2eaj9w5Lq7 so presumably it failed but my devices rebooted and is now on system set up
Edit:
3 reboots later and phone still boots fine to system

flashing miui_APOLLOEEAGlobal_V12.5.4.0.RJDEUXM_451a2324af_11.0.zip from stock recovery is good idea, you can do this from MicroSD card to circumvent any usb issues you are obviously facing on fastboot.

So it worked?
This "error" isn't an "error" so don't worry about it

This error is normal since you are not re-locking the bootloader.
If some functions are inoperative.
Try to flash the same rom (fastboot) that you had when you bought the phone, probably an A11.
Use clean all(flash_all.bat).
