No sound in calls - Moto G7 Play Questions & Answers

Hey folks, so I have a Moto G7 play with lineage OS 18.1, rooted with Magisk. So the phone works almost fine, but when updated, it looses it's IMEI until restoring the original ROM. That doesn't bother me as much that I cannot hear other people when calling, and they cannot hear me. Everything data related works, like data roaming, wifi, making and receiving calls... it's just that there is no audio, and no audio is being recorded either. I hope someone knows why this must be happening, thank you.
Edit: Also, I rooted it trying to solve the problem following this guide on reddit but didn't work.

Problem with the mic (software related)

I'm having this problem, nobody is able to listen to me when they call me, but I can hear them loud and clear.
At first I thought it was a hardware related thing, but when I make skype calls, everything is alright and I'm able to record voice or music, so the hardware microphone is actually fine.
So I think is a software related think, but I'm unsure wheather is a ROM related thing or are some other programs I installed.
Regarding ROMs, I used Tai's v21 edition but I changed back to the old reliable Josh v15 ROM which I was using before with no problems, but now I have this problem too.
So I narrowed the problem down to installed software, and my best bets are skype itself and Audioroute.
I wonder if you are able to make any mobile test call here in London (I'm using 3uk network) so I won't spend all my mobile call minutes testing whether the phone is working or not again?
Thanks in advance
Have you tried the stock rom? Or are you loading a different dialer?
I haven't seen that issue.

[Q] Bluetooth voice call issues

When trying to play a call via bluetooth, regardless of the bluetooth device, it doesn't work. The bluetooth device shows the call in coming in and who is it, but when you answer it, you can't hear anyone and they can't hear you. However, I'm able to stream music and such through bluetooth just fine. It's just voice calls that don't provide audio. Anyone else have this issue? I haven't been able to find anything on this in the forum. I've tried wipping the efs partition for the radio to see if that helped and it didn't. I'm running Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1 with baseband version 12.62.60.27U_26.13.19_m. This used to work before so I don't have know changed so it doesn't. I also tried doing a fresh install of Cyanogen 7.1 and no change.

My tmobile S4 can no longer make or recieive calls

I had an aosp rom insatlled and all was working fine.
Then out of the blue with no warning...I can no longer receive nor make calls. When I attempt a call i hear no dial tone...and when the person picks up the timer starts running but I cant hear anything and they cant hear me..
I flashed other roms and same issue. I even did an odin flash to stock and the problem persist. Both speakers are working. I tested both.
I dont know what the problem can be. Any ideas anyone?? please help
thanks in advance
(PS: all other phone features work, sms, web, lte etc)

I had this happen with my rom. It was so strange. In my case it would let me dial three numbers then I could dial no more. Couldn't recieve or make a call.. I did however fix the situation with flashing the rom again. Haven't had any trouble since. In your case somehow your radio might have gotten changed. You might look into what the radio was before the rom and possibly download that radio again. Or you can try basic ics radios and see if any work for you. You have nothing to loose by trying. You can get the radios here on xda. On my last device a similar thing happened to me and I had to flash a new radio. It did restore my abilities. Its worth a try. It could be what's going on with your device. It certainly wont hurt to try. I wish you the best and do hope this helps you.
Happens to me occasionally, reboot fixes it.

I had something similar happen to me with a AOSP rom. On Thursday I started having trouble with dropped calls and then yesterday it got worse and I was unable to make or receive calls at all. Right after dialing the phone would beep and the call would end. Data and SMS was fine.
After multiple reboots and a good amount of time it started working again. I'm not convinced I did anything to fix it. After reading about your problems I wonder if the cause was on the tmobile side.

No Sound from earpiece or mic during calls

Odd issue. Hoping someone has an idea. I took to complete stock and tried going through full wipe all the way to Effortless Rom. During regular voice calls I cannot hear anyone speak and they cannot hear me. WiFi Calling is fine, Listening to voicemail is fine, talking to Google Now is fine. Installed a new SIM just to be sure, same issue. Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

I had the same issue and i had trouble making calls, there was no ring tone when making calls and people couldn't hear me only when I clicked on speaker was i able to hear them and them hear me. Also wifi calling work with no problem.. I notice that if I took it out of volte voice in call settings I was able to make calls with no problems and that bothered me.. So i decided to call T-Mobile customer service and the girl who helped me told me to take out my SIM card and read her my SIM card number then she did something in her end and that fixed my problem. Hopefully that's was wrong with your device.. She said if that didn't work that my device was malfunctioning.. So i suggest you give them a call, I took me maybe 10 minutes

Thanks for the idea. Tried it over the weekend with no luck. It seems like the problem takes some time to occur. I flashed back to stock, then to the latest DarthStalker and it worked for a few hours, then lost it again. Changed kernel and same deal, worked for a bit then back. Very frustrating, especially since it's definitely software related since other apps and WiFi calling work every time.

No sound when making, or receiving calls, same for those being called...

Hello fellow galaxy users, I have this problem on my T-mobile Samsung galaxy s4 and it is when I make a call, I cant hear anybody on the like or the dial tone or anything, and when the other picks up my call they can't hear anything either. Also if I pick up a call I still cannot hear anything. It is just plain silence. NOW HERE IS THE WEIRD PART! If I turn on wifi calling, I can call and receive calls with out any problems, if I use skype I can hear from the speaker and everything. So my mic is working, my speakers are working, everything seems to be functioning... Till I make a call using data... My guess is its a T-mobile network issue? I called T-mobile and they didn't know what was wrong... I looked around google and many people are having the same problem with no solution... If anyone has any ideas or any solution and would like more info on this problem, please let me know!
Have a nice day !
im having the same exact problem! i have seen some fixes that people have posted with similar issue, leading them to believe its something with their bluetooth/ok google/s voice being involved. ive tried some of the fixes that have been posted, but no luck on fixing the issue on my end. but just like you if i go on wifi and make a call i have no issues what so ever! the sound also works just fine if i connect to a bluetooth device.
Are both of you on the full NH7 firmware?
Mismatched bootloader?
Pp.
fully stock rom, not rooted. OS 4.4.4, yes nh7
i will add that this is my first galaxy, that i haven't rooted or changed the rom on. i have yet to have a reason to root or change the rom on this phone, but if i have to, to get this fixed? i have no problem rooting and changing the rom.
also i have noticed that i drop LTE to 4g when ever i try to make a call. the wife has the same phone and is on tmobile as well but she has not had this issue.
Ok, since you are stone stock this could be a update issue, just out curiosity I would try a factory reset (hard reset ) it may solve the issue . If not I would go with stock rooted like ShinySide's rom not full custom until issue is solved.
Pp.
ive done a hard reset and the problem is still there. i guess ill go the ShinySide's rom way, until i get my s5 or wait for the rumored s6.
This by ShinySide will give you an option to flash a stock firmware if you choose to be stock again. Follow instructions using Odin.
