I have a Firestick 4K Max and am using the Private Internet Access VPN. My max stock Mbps is a little over 230Mbps. The speed test that comes with the Firestick shows me at full speed with the VPN on, but all the other speed test apps show my speed at 25 - 40Mbps. Is my particular VPN not good for this sort of use case? Should I be using a different VPN?

Hi,
I just did a speedtest on dslreports.com with my D810 connected to internet via Wifi. My cable connection has a speed cad at 6M, however, my avareage speed on my D810 was only 1500kbs while my desktop has over 5000kbs. So it leads me to a question that if there is a cap limit the internet speed on the Wifi connection?
Thanks.
like that benchmarks show that our pda's cant keep up with the fastest
SD cards one can get because the sd interface in the devices are not fast enough
it's only nautral to asume the same goes for the bus the wifi chip is connected to
of cause if benchmarks for pure wifi file transfer are much faster
and other browsers give better results it could be ie which is poorly written
if all browsers give that result it could be the tcp protocol which is the culpit
By default - your Trinity won't connect at 802.11g at the battery saving configuration. Try the performance setting instead that would otherwise give you more speed but less battery power.
ww2250-I have already tried the performance setting but it still gave me the same result..
Since I am having problems to get HD on my Fire TV Stick mostly in the afternoon and on weekends, but bandwith tests showing no problem with my connection at all, I want to monitor the network speed directly on my stick while streaming from amazon to see what is happening. What would be the easiest way to do this?
you can monitor the traffic on your router. (dd-wrt, merlin, tomato, whatever)
If you think people are uing your connection, just make your router invisible.
so i installed an FTP server on the stick to take a backup of it.
when i upload files to the stick they go really fast. over 1 MB/s
when i download files from the stick to PC they go over 1 MB/s for a few seconds, and then drop to like 50 KB/s.
any idea what could be slowing down download speeds from the stick to PC over local wifi using ftp?
Sounds at first like traffic shaping or something similiar. That means that most of the bandwith is reserved for downloading to the Stick. Probably this is done to assure a more stable video streaming since all background apps are throttled in the upload speed. But that is just an assumption that FireOS provides traffic shaping, there might be also other issues like bad WIFI connection or WIFI channel interferences between multiple APs and so on.
i think you are correct.
either the hardware of the stick can not upload at a fast speed or the software limits it from doing so
The hardware should do the upload at a faster rate as you can see a higher rate when starting uploading until softwarebased the upload speed is throttled. I don´t know if its possible to configure this in a way but I assume this could be probably done via build.prop or settings database editing but this would need root which isn´t available for the stick (except the complicated hardware root method) so you´re still stuck with the slow speed.
Hi All,
I have a bit of an issue and I've been searching endlessly with no luck of a solution.
My ISP provides with 150 Mbps.
Amazon FireTV forces to use Channel 36 with 40MHz to get max speed of 70 to 80Mbps. Unfortunately with this setting all my other devices can only achieve 70 to 80Mbps max.
There are only a limited number of channels on 5GHz to connect Amazon FireTV. RADAR channels don't work and not even recognized by the box.
Channel Bandwidth 20/40/80MHz or 20MHz or 80MHz get about 2 to 10Mbps.
I disable beamforming but no luck.
I have no issues with Wired connection. I recently had to move my router to optimized WiFi reception.
Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 firmware.
Does anyone have a solution?
Cant figure this out. I have a Fire TV Stick with Alexa. I have an 80mb connection. Over wifi, my laptop gets 70mb download on 5GHZ. The Firetv stick on 5ghz floats around 10-15mb, and that's 3 meters from the router. Its the closest device to the router.
HD Buffers constantly. Anyone any ideas?
I experienced similar on 5G WiFi where phone showed excellent speed but Fire TV showed terrible speed. However the problem was a useless speed test app on the Fire TV. I tested it with a few internet based speed tests and test results were fine.
