Hey guys ,
This is my first post and I was directed here as the experts will be around . I need your help guys to upgrade my phone Galaxy nexus . I have never did any thing on it . It has the following information that might help you guys to help me
Android version 4.0.4
Kernel version 3.0.8-gda6252b
build number imm76k.i9250jple1
I saw some phones that are rooted and have this wonderful images of Roms . I need to try them but I don't know how
I have downloaded the toolkit program but I dont know what ROM shall I select ?? which one is the best ?
Please guys , teach me how and let me start his journey with you
waiting your heeeeeeelp
start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812959
recs for a n00b
Since you've never rooted or used a custom ROM before I suggest starting with either mROM or MMuzzy's ROMs. They are close to stock but will get you to Android version 4.2.1
mROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763823
MMuzzy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762846
Remember to MAKE A NANDROID. After you use the toolkit to unlock, root, etc. boot into recovery and MAKE A BACKUP. Also, when you root/unlock it factory resets your phone, so anything not on the SD card that you want to keep, backup to your computer.
This is the thread which completely helped when I was new to rooting and all this stuff. No further help was needed. The methods are very well explained here.

I'm glad you're using fastboot.
Search for naked drivers.
Or use the guide in my Sig or stickied at the top of this forum.

1. use these drivers.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875
2. no you need custom recovery and unlcoked bootloader to flash roms
3. read one of these threads to understand more about rooting, and flashing roms so you dont mess up your phone

Dont rush the root
efrant and jubakuba have both written guides. I suggest not using the tool kit until you know how to use adb/fastboot.

Hello I'm Andreas,
I'm no developer but an IT Professional.
I want to root my XA2 Android 9.0.
I've alread unlocked the bootloader using the tutorial on talk.sonymobile.
By the way it's been difficult to unlock bootloader that because there've been several problems installing the adb and fastboot driver. But i did it.
I'm using Windows 10 Pro
So thats what i've done in cmd:
1. C:\platform-tools\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb reboot bootloader
C:\platform-tools\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot devices
CQ3001KCBM fastboot
C:\platform-tools\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-pioneer.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.828s]
booting...
OKAY [ 5.281s]
finished. total time: 7.125s
and that's it.
1. Twrp does not boot so that i could continue.
2. On screen there is a promt: device can't be checked ... because unlockeed bootloader. (So that is no twrp but android).
I would appreciate any advice or hint to solve the problem.
Greetings
Andreas
hi there, I'm sitting in the same boat as you. Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you. Could you provide additional information what Android version (or Lineage version) and what Firmware you are running? Is the device soft bricked? Can you still get into fastboot? When you boot the TWPR image does adb devices return something?
Does it do the same with the most recent twrp version? Latest I have is 3.3.1-0-pioneer.
A working way

Hi Neroburner,
I think currently there is no working way for xa2 with android 9. So i flashed android 8 on my xa2 h3113 and eyery thing works fine. TWRP will boot ...
I've used flashtool from Androxyde for flashing android 8 - u can get it here on xda. I've also used twrp-3.2.2-0-pioneer.img and twrp-installer-pioneer-3.2.2-0.zip and Magisk-v19.3.zip.
Hagen
Thanks for the answer!
How do I get android 8 back on my device? is it part of the firmware downloaded from xperifirm?
Does this also mean for the moment LOS16 is also out of the possible realm?
Could you also be so kind to answer my questions over here? https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xa2/help/xperifirm-flashtool-t3944950

Hi Neroburner,
thats much. U've come that far so u will also manage the rest of the way.
First of all i take no responsibility, u have to decide what u does or not.
If u download tools u should only use trustworthy sides.
1. The other thread from you. I think its not that much important for which country etc. the ftf file original has been used for. But if u chosse a arabic or a russian or a german etc. version maybe there will no language or similar for u be available etc. But it should work
2. Herre u can find out the different versions of andoid: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...r-xperia-geraete-stand-31-12-2018.845178.html
3. links for how to flash android: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...-debrande-ich-mein-sony-flashtool.708128.html
and: http://www.xperiablog.net/2018/01/2...-firmware-for-xperia-xz-premium-xz1-and-more/
4. downloads for twrp: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/pioneer/
5. how to install twrp. I used this one but i only a part this way magisk etc i install via twrp install and not with sideload commands. : https://www.**********.com/xperia-xa2-root-twrp/
6 los: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/pioneer
Overall i've read much about all that stuff before. So i was cable to choose which parts of the how tos i would need. maybe u should to the same.
Hagen
If the command
fastboot boot twrp.img
does not work, then try
fastboot flash boot twrp.img
Then go to adb sideload and sideload the twrp_installer.zip or install this file with twrp.
Then you will get twrp without booting it every time.
If you have any problems say me. Hope it's helps you a lot.
If you have any queries about Sony xperia XA2 you can ask me anytime.
Thank you

Thank You!!!
After 24 hours of fighting, the phone was aliwe and downgradeto MIUI 10
I tried unsuccessfully to install TWRP on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro.
These are the steps I took:
Unlock the bootloader with MiUnlock.
Downloaded Fastboot.
Copied this CFW TWRP inside the Fastboot folder.
Downloaded these two files and copied inside the Fastboot folder.
fastboot flash preloader preloader_begonia.bin
fastboot flash lk lk.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-0-begonia_UNOFFICIAL.img
fastboot reboot
And the result is that it no longer turns on. It also fails neither to enter the Fastboot screen, nor in that of recovery.
Windows no longer sees the device, so I can't interact in any way even with the folders inside the phone memory. Finally it is not even seen by Xiaomi Flash Tool (wanting to try to reinstall the official ROM).
The phone, immediately after unlocking it with the Xiaomi tool, had MIUI 12. I don't know which Android mounted (my fault), but I proceeded the same, without doing a downgrade, since in a discussion here on the forum it seemed that it could work same, even without downgrading to Android 9.
Is there any way to fix?
Maybe using Linux, you might be able to interact with the phone memory even if it is turned off / bricked?
Solution
Without hoping in the least, I solved it by following this video step-by-step.
I thank the author of this video a million times.
For anyone who was reading and needed it, there is no need to open the phone, remove the battery, connect various wires... You can do everything from software with a couple of clicks, even if the phone does not seem to want to connect absolutely to the PC.
Follow the linked video, it's very simple and you will save a lot of money!
Only if you have flashed it with a CFW

Good for CFW, but if you are on a official MIUI and you've hardbricked it then you have to through an authorised Xiaomi account, in other words, it is a "payable flash" that you have to perform.
I had the same problem
Months ago I tried to install a stock ROM prior to the latest version installed, I got a brick exactly like the one you have, I didn't know who to go with until days ago, in a group on Telegram.
There is a group where a boy from Spain helped me with his authorized account for € 30, if you want to contact him I will leave you the link of the group.

I am not quite clear what you mean exactly, but I, before proceeding with trying to flash a custom ROM, I had connected my original Xiaomi account to the device in question and also had requested the unlocking of the bootloader through the appropriate Xiaomi software (and I finally waited the time indicated by them, before proceeding). So on my Note 8 Pro there was actually the original / official MIUI updated to the latest version and I didn't need to proceed with a payment of any kind following that tutorial.

I am searching for the right drivers for fastboot to unlock my bootloader.

Data coping is no problem an it found my poco for the first time i connected to PC but not in fastboot mode.
Also in the device manager on Windows 10 it only shows as Android device with a exclamation mark.
I installed also the Google USB drivers but it still doesn´t work for me.
Can someone help please?
I´am desperate....
Try this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...for-any-device-fastboot-driver-issue.4309097/

It's a Linux distro (distribution). If you're new to Linux, Ubuntu is the recommended one
Bootloader/ fastboot driver of all xiaomi phone is already include in mi flash tool, so when you've installed/ running first time of mi flash tool they will automatically installing xiaomi bootloader driver, or you can manually install it by browsing from devices manager then pick driver from mi flash tool folder that you have.
well it simply wouldnt detect drivers even when pointed at them but if you force the driver install against reccomendations.. It worked.
