This year, I will be looking to upgrade from my Galaxy Note 9. It's the US Variant and cannot be rooted. It will no longer be updated past Android 10 and security updates are soon coming to a halt.
I have a 1TB MicroSD card I use on my phone to transport data (mainly music and movies). It has come to my attention that newer phones lack the MicroSD card slot.
I've always been a fan of making the grip of my phone larger by adding a battery case, thus extending the daily life before having to recharge it. I know that some of these battery cases "break" the ability to do file transfers, reliably.
Are there any known Battery Cases which also have a slot for a MicroSD card? Is something like this even feasible?

Hi all, I have had my note for a few months now. I had been suffering from battery anxiety and then had a Doh! moment. Just buy a extra battery silly! So that’s what im doing.
While carrying a extra battery is not a hardship, I wondered if anyone has seen a small carry case that would hold a battery perhaps a couple of micro sd cards and serve as a wallet for a few cards?
Had a hunt round google without much luck!
I'm glad you joined the ranks of us who sidestep any battery issues because we pocket spare batteries....
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ETC-CPK1E1GSTA-Battery-Charger-SGH-I717/dp/B0076Z3FSQ/ref=pd_cp_cps_0
Search around to see if you can get it cheaper. I use the stand portion as much as I use the charger. Very pocketable, and never run out of juice....
I have purchased four (lol) $4 Note wallets on eBay - the ones that double both as a card-holder and stand for our awesome phone
At least one of them has a note-slot (as in, for money-notes) which perfectly fit a battery. I will try to find link later (no time during the working day thanks to a $hit job!).
I'd try to review and compare them for XDA, but sadly I don't get more than about an hour a week to myself these days
I also do highly recommend the spare battery charger linked above.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll give the Charging stand a look as it would be handy to have one in the office.
After some more extensive digging I found a nifty credit card sized micro sd card holder:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DiMeCard-micro8-microSD-Memory-writable/dp/B005SPQ8XK/ref=pd_sim_ce_3
Then I found a Big Skinny Thin Leather Compact Sport Bifold Wallet which looks like it'll handle the storage + battery + cards & cash without the bulk:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Big-Skinn...allet&var=&hash=item20c4c933f3#ht_1316wt_1009
Adopting this mindset has invigorated my love for my Note. Battery Life is as long as the spares last. And I have a potential to carry around 256GB of what ever I need.
Hey everyone, I just recently switched over to a different device and am interested in selling my Nitro. I was planning on posting it to eBay/Craig's List but figured I'd try here first to keep it in the community of XDA members first since it is currently rooted and running the latest CM11 nightlies. I am in the US (New Jersey) and willing to ship within the 48 contiguous states ONLY for anyone seriously interested.
*MAJOR SIDENOTE*
The phone works fine aside from the micro usb port which is iffy (works when it wants to or after some tinkering with it). However, my workaround for this issue has been using Airdroid for wireless file transfer and syncing my devices to my cloud storage (if you have an SD adapter or multi card reader they work fine too, you'll just have to either unmount the micro SD card or power the device off and take it out first). As far as the charging goes since its iffy at times using a cable, I purchased the Hyperion 1900 mAh AND 3800 mAh batteries which I will throw into the deal of course.
With this configuration of wireless data transfer and swapping batteries (having an extra in my pocket was always nice, especially for long trips or days of heavy usage) I've had no other problems/complaints with the device.
As far as the physical condition of the phone goes there are two small cracks (one on the top left corner, one on the left side of the screen on the bezel...no damage on the screen itself) and a few dings around the edges (honestly I think I've only dropped the phone "naked" a total of 3 times since it was released)
If you are SERIOUSLY interested in this deal you will be getting:
- LG Nitro HD (P930) with OEM battery and back cover
- Hyperion 1900 mAh battery
- Hyperion 3800 mAh extended battery with back cover
- Hyperion external battery charger
- 16GB SanDisk Ultra Class 10 micro sdhc card (optimized for android devices for use with the SanDisk memory zone app)
Any SERIOUS inquiries please PM me, I will be accepting PayPal for payment and have everything shipped standard immediately (extra charge if you want over night or any other shipping option). I will also provide serious inquires with pictures showing the damage on the phone and all accessories.
I am looking to sell everything together for $85, shipping included. I've taken into consideration the damage and the value of the extra batteries and memory card alone are about $45 so the phone itself is only $40 and you will see it's well worth the deal when I send you pics!
PLEASE SERIOUS INQUIRIES PM ME ONLY!!!
Thanks, it's been fun being part of the Nitro community here on the XDA forums, I'd like to pass the fun on to someone else now

Hi,
I'm writing this in the hope of saving many people from the troubles I've had the past couple days. I was just about to wipe my tablet and sent it for a refund.
So... just to let people know there are many counterfeit Samsung sd cards out there. I searched forums and help pages all over the net and found so many people were having similar problems to me and not knowing how to solve it. For whoever is interested, I'll list the problems my tablet was encountering and then the VERY subtle differences to tell the genuine from the fake.
Issues:
Tablet restarting at random intervals and sometimes continuously.
Apps not downloading correctly, or downloading but failing install.
Random apps disappearing off device and having to re download them (weird thing it only did this to apps I'd paid for).
After viewing files on sd card the card would then register as 0.00Gb and would need to be unmounted and remounted again.
Worked in pc to read and write but not in the tablet.
Worked in other samsung devices, eg phone, reads and writes, doesn't lose data, only in the tablet, which makes you believe it's the tablet at fault.
Deletes random files off the card when mounted.
Will not show up in root folders when trying to save items from dropbox.
Slower transfer speeds (I didn't realize this at first cos I only owned slower sd cards and thought this was normal)
All of these problems stopped the minute I inserted a genuine card,
How to spot the difference:
Extremely subtle difference in the tone of the grey portion of the cardboard packaging.
The genuine packaging has a couple words in shiny gold, while on the counterfeit they are gold but not as shiny.
The genuine packaging is slightly shiny, the counterfeit is more matte.
The actual sd card is identical to the genuine except for the writing is very slightly lighter.
(The packaging design and wording was EXACTLY identical apart from these 4 differences).
The other difference I noticed when opening the package was it was made of multi layered cardboard and the sd card enclosure was attached to the inside by glue. On the counterfeit it was just sandwiched between 2 pieces of thicker cardboard and not stuck to the packaging. Without opening the packaging it's almost impossible to notice this difference.
Many people may already know this info but I hope to help other newbies like me who may be pulling their hair out trying to work out what is wrong with their tablet, when it's the actual sd card and the tablet is fine!

Has anybody experienced issues with microsd cards? I am considering buying a 128gb one for my HTC m8 but I want to make sure they can hold up before I splurge. Not too sure if a small peripheral can hold up to occasional drops. Lemme know if you have had microsd cards fail before
In the typical usage scenario of a phone, sd card failure due to mechanical stresses is not a common problem.
Most sd card failures come from power losses (e.g. on non battery operated devices) and flash wear due to excessive writing.
Seeing as they're incredibly small, they are prone to some problems if you're not gentle with them. Getting a quality brand and decent class/speed certainly helps as well. Sandisk and Transcend have always been my go-to brands.

Sandisk is very prone to cardreader firmwares and excessive writes. To make things worse, their latest series UHS-I 64GB has some manufacturing defects and those cards are returning bricked like crazy. At least here in Poland, but I have heard Germany is also affected.
I was doing a lot of synchronization on those cards (a lot of reads and writes) and I had 3 of those Sandisk UHS-I cards returned after I got my money back. Now I got a Kingston one and after months of writing, writing and even more writing it still works flawlessly.
Maybe I'm just unlucky with Sandisk. Who knows.

Fair enough. I've also used Kingston in the past and never had problems, so to make a long story short - there are a lot of quality storage options out there. Some tend to work for people and some don't. Either way, I try and keep my microSD and SD cards on the smaller size. I hear a lot of complaints about high-capacity cards having problems. I know for my digital camera and GoPro, I don't ever buy above 16GB because the image quality degrades as you get towards the end of a full card. Perhaps the same thing goes on when you're using it in tablets, phones, etc too but not completely sure.
Hey guys.
I have been using my Samsung Note 2 for about 3 years now and it's been working flawlessly. I've been thinking to upgrade now and totally confused between the Note 5 and Note Edge.
Note 5
Pros: one-touch fingerprint scanner, looks and design, more powerful, better Touchwiz, better S-pen with click removal
Cons: non-removable battery, lack of SD-card slot, S-Pen prone to breakage
Note Edge
Pros: the edge screen and its apps, SD card slot, removable battery
Cons: comparatively older and slower, fingerprint scanner has bugs, prone to breakage
IMO the SDcard slot and the removable battery are a big plus point. I always carry a spare charged battery with my Note 2 which makes it very convenient if I run out of charge any time.
So what do you guys suggest? Also, I don't think there is any other device I could upgrade to, but I'm open to suggestions!
Go for Note 5 as it is the latest high end phone.Note edge is old now and software support will end within 1 year.Note 5 has high end chipset and powerful camera and will suggest you to purchase dual sim version for future use

yeah you're right.
But somehow the lack of a sd-card slot is hard to swallow for me
Make sure that the phone you want on the carrier of your choice is as rootable/modable as you want when you buy it. Note 4 AT&T and Verizon never got custom recovery so they never got custom ROMs, just temp root.
I live in India, so all phones we get here are the International Factory Unlocked ones
