Hello. I recently bought a refurbished LG G710N. It had a Korea Telekom firmware intalled with lots of bloatware. Before crossflashing to an european firmware, I noticed that it did not want to connect to the lte band 7 which Orange is using for 4G+ ( I live in Romania). It can only connect to band 3, no matter where I am. I am getting around 60 mbps tops, whereas my older phones can get to 150-200 mbps easily. Now, on the european firmware....same thing. I played a bit in the service menu, but none of the settings stick, you go back and they're gone. Also, I noticed that the native call record button is gone. Any idea how to bring that back ? Thank you.

I bought an Korean LG Optimus G pro from ebay few days ago and updated it to kikat.
When i connect to internet with my sim it shows as 2G on top and never goes to 3G. The 2G speeds are too slow i cant load any website with it.
I tried two sims from two network providers and the result is the same. The band frequencies of this phone is exactly same as my old phone and matches the network providers band widths. Also my old phone had no problems with 3G.
I didn't start using my sim since kitkat update so i have no idea if i it worked when it was on jelly bean.
Sorry if my english was bad
Thanks in advance, Any help or suggestion is greatly aprrecieated
Hello Everyone,
I want to buy the new nexus 5x but i am concerned with the network compatibility.
I am living in Egypt but I am travelling to Canada and I am willing to buy it from there but not sure if it will be functioning back in Egypt, can anyone advice? at the mean time I travel a lot to America and not sure if I bought the International model that it will work back in America (Canada & US)
why isnt there a single universal model just like the iPhone...
Appreciate your advice guys
You can check from
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
and
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks
Then check Nexus 5X support from
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_5X
From those two, looks like all carriers in Egypt use 2100 for 3G which is UTMS Band 1 which is supported in all Nexus 5X variants. So you should be able to use any model of Nexus 5X back in Egypt.
I bought one from USA and now using it in Bangladesh. Cellular data is switched off from the very beginning but it seems the cellular network it's getting is continuously poor except unless in open area and the battery is simply draining. I haven't still able to figure it out if this is due to the version or any software update will fix that.
I have used the Nexus 4 (US version) and other devices in the same area but none of those ever suffered the cellular connectivity.
It seems by simply choosing "2G" from 'Cellular networks ->Preferred network type' (reboot) extends the battery life A LOT..
Hello, I'm looking at the Global version of the Redmi Note 5 (Basically the pro. Referred to as the AI Dual camera on GSM arena) and I'll be using it in the US on Mint Mobile. Mint is a T-Mobile MVNO and I'm not sure how LTE support will be on this. If anyone has any info on this that would be great. I believe Mint mainly uses B4 and B12 but I could be wrong. I've been looking around and found mixed responses of it having good carrier support stateside and others saying it won't work.

I can confirm that the phone will WORK on B4 (1700mHz/2100mHz) and B5 if you live in the greater Myrtle Beach area. (Acquired from SunCom back in the late 2000's). I don't know if your area has B5. On your existing phone, get LTE Discovery from the Play Store and sample your most common areas first to see what bands are most prominent. Being where I live, the phone mostly uses Band 5 over 4 because of the lower freq; able to reach tougher places where the higher freq B4 can't reach.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'll give that a download and travel around. Since posting I did discover my current phone supports the same bands. So I'm less worried. :good:
Lte works on band 4, but not band 12 on T-Mobile. But, for me band 4 is enough, if I don't get lte the device will switch to 2g. 3g straight up does not work for me on T-Mobile, although I've heard that T-Mobile does not use 3g anymore in the first place.
All in all, for me lte works just as well as my previous phone (zte zmax pro)

I can see that. When B4 and B5 don't work the phone just switches to 2G but without internet so basic voice and sms still works. about 70% of the time after it switches to 2G it'll tap onto HSPA+ (3.5G, coined 4G) and I got that for a while until LTE reconnects. Rinse and repeat until I have to leave to go somewhere.
Hello,
I have a note 10+ of US origin with snapdragon 855, I want to use it in Europe (France) in order to have the best possible network.
I installed the firmware N975U1 XAA but I don't have 4G + (I only have the LTE logo, no LTE +), a lot problem of concern for notification with my mailboxes.
So I would have liked to know if there was a more suitable firmware for France in order to have the 4G logo which replaces the LTE logo? and maybe be able to receive 4G +?
I know I cannot install the XEF firmware because the processor is not the same.
Thanks for your help
Hello ,
I'm surprise ! Your provider ? Your mobile network coverage ? If you have another mobile , full XEF , what result on the same place ? switch off !
I use the Orange network. the network is the same with another mobile except that I receive 4g + while there it is simple lte. I know there is normally lte + in us. so know if it is possible to have a firmware allowing to have 4g +. after maybe nothing to do but I receive with great difficulty the notifications gmail and other mailbox. I have however reinstalled everything several times but no change.
does anyone know if this is possible? or a tweak that allows you to do it? thank you
4G, 4G+, lte, lte+, lteA, 5G, etc, are sevice provider dependant, so, you will get what the carrier gives you, no way to obtain services that other carriers provide
I'm using a Canadian Note 10+ (N975W) here in the UK which is working flawlessly, I have full 4G+, VoLTE & WiFi calling, the only thing that doesn't work is Samsung Pay which I knew anyway, and as I use Google Pay, it isn't a issue :highfive:
Firstly search the bands that your phone uses with its model name on GSM arena, then the ones used by the carriers you'll need for both countries.
Then with the RNC mobile app or with Activity Launcher, search "hidden" and launch the one under "paramètre d'appel"
You'll be able to see what bands are actually used by your current carrier.
Since the protocol names and frequency aggregation hints are carrier specific, you may already use 4G+ without knowing.
Hello, I'm going back to the topic because I still don't have a solution at the moment. I had the opportunity to have a French Note 10 alongside with the same operator, I had the "4G +" (LTE+) logo, the speeds were tested at 300 mega / sec. With my 10+ USA rating stuck on the LTE logo I only get 50 mega / sec ...: /
according to my research this is a carrier aggregation problem.
How to unlock it?
I just tried the Canadian rom and the same, no support for LTE + or 4G +, the speeds are as low as with the US version
Hi,
I would really appreciate if someone could help me with my LG G8.
I bought it off ebay , the phone is on T-Mobile version running Android 10 with the software version G820TM20i .
Since the phone was not available to buy in UK, i've ordered it from US .
I am using it with a EE sim card which is supposed to have the best network coverage in UK , but still the signal bar only shows 1 or 2 lines from 5 ( 5 being max strength ) .
When using the SIM card with another phone ( S10+ ) originally bought from UK I am not having any signal issues.
My question is : Could this be a problem with the stock ROM being a US version ?
I am thinking of flashing another ROM probably one from Europe or even UK, but unfortunatelly I don't know which one is the best.
Could anyone advise me ?
Thanks.
I have the same issues. Mine is a factory unlocked G820QM (US version).
Not working well in Singapore.
On the network with the best coverage just 2 bars and just UMTS.
With another network 3 bars and LTE but ... no mobile data.
Not easy getting these US phones to work overseas ...
It should be easy, i used to flash my lg g6 and lg g4 with ROMs in order to fix this kind of issues, with the help of the DEVs from here.
It's so sad that this forum is no longer that active like it used to be .
The G6 and G7 was also sold in Europe, SEA and so on. So flashing to other locations would be possible.
The G8 was only sold in the US, Korea and Canada. Still possible to flash to be able to work in the UK?
