Android 10 unit with SD625 processor display problem? - MTCD Android Head Units General

Hi there,
I have installed a new Android 10 unit with SD625 processor on my BMW E60 and I have a issue with the display. The screen flashes from time to time and it has a very strange light and contrast sometime.
I have attached a video with the problem below.
Do you have any idea what this problem might be?
Thank you!

Is it an MTCD type device

MTCB Joying Display flickering and "burned in" picture

Hey there,
I have some issues with the MTCB. Someone had these before?
First problem which is already quite annoying is that pictures are kind of burned in and still show shadows on the other screen
Second problem which is even more bad is that the display flickers. This is more or less obvious in different scenes.
When looking closely it seems like there is a grid (coming and going in the same frequence like the music is playing?). The attached video shows it.
Especially with white background the flickering gets very bad.
Don't know if this could be related to the Malaysk Firmware I use. Or is is it a hardware issue?
Also contacted the support. Let's see what they say...

Sounds like a screen issue to me, have you checked the ribbon connector hasnt come slightly undone ?
Hi, thanks for answering.
Attached is the video I spoke about. I missed to upload it.
You mean to open the device and check the ribbon connector inside, right?
Regards

This is commom in these units.
It's worst when it's hot.
I kinda fixed mine opening it and adjusting some kind of screw near the screen. You turn it and screen gets darker, you need to find a point between too dark and flickering. But when I park my car at the sun, and it gets hot inside, screen get bright again, so flickering and persistent images.
And here is a video about it.

It's commom. That's why Joying even put a video online to show how to fix it.
I believe that when they produce the unit, it's now well tuned up, or it's cold in the factory and they don't realize, so when someone who lives in a hot weather area install it, the problem appears.
It's a bad hardware design, they use analog potentiometer, they should use some digital and automatic one to regulate screen frequency.

Well, Like I said, I ve not heard much about it in the 3 years I ve been following the threads on here, but I do remember Joyous having problems with their screens and 5.1.1 - they couldnt get 5.1.1 to work on their 4.4.4 RK3188 units unless the screen was changed !! Sounds like its more a problem with Joyous units.
I agree there's not many complaints about this problem here, that's why I believe that may be some "quality check" sloppiness. It's very simple to solve anyway.
But all units seems to use analog potentiometer, so, bad design. There's nothing to do with Joying only and the fact they changed screen to update to 5.1.1.
And most users in this forum don't live in hot weather areas. In my case, Brazil, is hot must time of the year, above 34 C degrees (93 F), in the shade.

Youre envious of 4 deg C ?! I get 34 deg C is a bit hot, but 4 is a bit cold !
Half way between 4 and 34 @ 19 deg C would be perfect

I looked at the map and St. Helena is a little to the south, a direct flight seems a better option.
But feel welcome if you want to come to Brazil someday.
It's a bit messy but it's a good country. I'm not going to take you to meet any favela, by the way. Don't know why tourists are so eager to go in one, it's very dangerous, and I don't think they represent Brazil that much, so many different beatiful places to go.

Hey there, thanks but the video is not working.
I did not open the unit yet to check if the screw will improve. But I will test soon when I find some time.
By the way it's around 0°C here. So not very warm
Attached is another video. The flickering of the right white picture is actually visible. It's not a flickering of the camera.

Just open the unit and fix it, very easy.
Took some time until I tried the fix. But the screw fixed it.
Carjoy recommended a power filter, but since the screw fixed it i prefer this...
The screen is now slightly darker. But I like the crisp image and better saturation of the colors (and of course no flicker).
Thanks!

SM-T800 display issue after charging

Hello everybody
it happens suddenly, for no reason, on a resurrection remix rom which worked fine for years: after a charge, my display started working erratically (working/not working, twinkle?randomly... i don't know the exact english term).
Just in case, i changed of rom and switched to the official lineage rom here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-sm-t800-t3545080
i followed all the procedure but nothing changed after that, my display acting still erratically.
When i boot, i have the "kernel is not seandroid enforcing" message on top/left before booting into the lineage rom, i don't know what does it mean and if it could be related to my display issue. i don't remember if it was there when i had the previews rom though....
Could it be a kernel issue?
i looked to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/tab-s-8-4-wifi-6-0-1-update-restarts-t3465133
but my problem seems different, since i have display issue (randomly!) even where i am start booting (when we see the samsung logo for exemple).
i tried the battery trick, i even bought a new one ;p, but it changes nothing :/
At this point, i don't know if it is finally a software or a hardware issue....
i am open to any suggestion, a link, an assistance in that matter would be greatly appreciated!
thank you
kind regards from France
The number 1 reason for flickering display on the S1 is loose battery connection, this affects the T7** a lot more than the T8** make sure the connector is soldered firmly to the motherboard and the plug half has a tight fit on all the pins, some solder the battery directly to the motherboard to fix the problem.

Thank you Tinderbox for your reply!
Somehow, i don't think it is, in my case, a connector problem as i tried electronic contact spray and the connector seems pretty sturdy too.
i think it is, when i touch the screen that the flickering display begins the most and i hear a dim sound each time the screen flickers.... i am beginning to think it is a screen defect after all....:/
kind regards from France
See if you can find a full teardown of an T800 on youtube, see if there is an connector for the display and check if it loose, have you dropped or bumped your T800, do you game on it, lots of hits to the screen could have caused a fault.
It`s a shame i love my T800, Maybe sell it on ebay as faulty and get the new S4 when it released it`s supposed to have and 16:9/10 display.
John.

yes i gamed on it, but i play "gently", adventure, hack & slash RPG game...
No, i haven't dropped it and it is in a otterbox defender rugged case!
it happend just after charging it, for no reason...
Yes i love my T800 too, i bought at a very cool price a Z4 tablet, but bootloader is locked on this one(some kind of stupid lotery, imho)((
I just purchased the tab s3 at a cool price, i didn't know the tab s4 would be 16:9/10 but for gaming, 4:3 isn't a problem:/
Thank you again for your feedback!:good:
[EDIT] i followed your advice and canceled my Tab S3 purchase: i wil wait patiently for the Tab S4, thank you for that too.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Screen Issue After Android 10 Update

After I updated my Galaxy Tab S4 to Android 10 with One UI 2, the screen became like the picture attached. Now half of the screen is occupied by black and white stripes.
I contacted Samsung and tried all the possible troubleshooting solutions but in vain, the problem still existed.
I also started a thread on Samsung community about this issue, and I got a lot of replies about the same screen problem that happened with many people.
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...en-issue-after-android-10-update/td-p/1837825
Still no response from Samsung about that.
Please can you help me with this issue?
I got 100% same problem
I try downgrade and same
But mine its from damage during shipping, the glass covering the amoled is cracked but I hope the screen its not affected.
Now I'm waiting the HDMI to usb type c cable to arrive to see if its screen or motherboard problem
If I lock/unlock(power button) fast and many times the lines dissapear and works normall a while
Do you fix it or you find what is wrong?
Today the HDMI to usb type c cabe arrived from china
I connect the tablet to TV and seems that lines are only on amoled, unfortunately the screen seem to be faulty
Hi at all the community, and Merry Christmas, oh oh oh
I made this post because i want to clear the situation about this very diffused issue that occur on samsung tab s4. I'm going to buy a tablet in the same screen condition in the attached picture, but before i want to know if the problem is related to the screen only or it's an hardware issue that affect the motherboard.
Please if anyone has fix this, please share a solution because in internet there are tons of user that ask for that and i haven't found if it's a screen or motherboard problem.
Thanks and wish you a merry christmas to all the community

unfortunately this is not screen issue, this is RAM or CPU issue, i did a Reballing and RAM replacement on Customer's TAB S4 and the issue was solved.

Thanks biohazard for your reply, i'm going to examinate the motherboard I really trust in yor words and is what i believe..
Anyway someone else can confirm after changing the screen this kinda of issue persist?
I want to clear the situation share your experience!
I can confirm what biohazard16 said, it's not oled screen problem or display coonection problem but hardware problem on the motherboard. I've tried to connect my tablet using MHL cable to a TV and the picture on the TV is perfect without any glitch, clear of any half screen issue. I've tried to install another original screen 100% working and i've still had the same half screen issue, it's not a screen problem.
I search a lot in internet for complete schematics or boardview for this Tab S4 but i've only found a service manual that doesn't help. If anyone have boardview or any other Oled pinout please post.
I think that Samsung after made a good tablet, wich a large amount of these have the same screen issue, must be release the complete schematics because people with good skills can repair a Project/Assembly mistake made by Samsung, but till now from Samsung 0 news.
At this point i want go through the problem and i've attached a picture of what IC need to be reball/resolder.
biohazrd16 or anyone can confirm i'am right?
I start thinking that reapir this kind of issue is like the 3rd secret of Fatima ;-)

PX30 Screen Issue white where black should be - HW or SW issue?

Picked up a used PX30 with a funny issue that I think might be HW related, but just want a second opinion before I do anything.
It is like it displays white where a shade of black should be, see attached picture, is this HW?
Model: ICE/HU/IN9053BL

I would venture that it's software. The reason I say this is that the colors on the ruler for the reverse camera are correct. I believe there are display adjustments that you could try in the factory settings. perhaps. Or it could be as simple as maybe in the accessibility settings that it's set for high contrast.
Maybe a factory reset might be something to try first?? Also are the colors jacked up when the system reboots like for the Android splash screen?

The unit had been reset when I got it, but can not hurt by trying again.
The boot splash also has the issue on the animated logo, and it moves with the animation.
Before I do another reset, I will try to changing options in the factory settings, think it is the Display LCD type option i need to try changing, it is my first android head unit, but been android user for long time so will try flicking options and if all goes wrong a reset it is
It's wild that the ruler colors (red yellow and green) on the reversing screen were correct but nothing else is. Wow. If it's happening on the Android boot logo, that's kind of before Android has even loaded so maybe it's not necessarily software. I was kind of hoping maybe if logo was correct then something was getting flipped after boot up.
The color and display settings in the factory settings, I would think would be applicable regardless of whether Android has booted or not since those settings typically change settings in the MCU or main board.
Sorry for putting out more maybe's than answers. Hope you can get it sorted and report back what the solution is.

Mate, nothing to be sorry about, very grateful that your reading and trying to help
I 100% agree with that it might be some setting that can change the MCU or MB, but still have a naging feeling it is HW, so after work today, I wil take the unit out and take it apart and see if i can "see" anything, maybe a loos connection or something.
I did look in the factory setting and it does not have the color settings, its android 9.. So maybe custom rom and if problem still there then take apart.. Hummm..
I will share with you that the TFT board used by Dasaita is one of the many weak points of these head units. That's the board that has ribbon cables between the main board and the display. I suppose it's not impossible that one of those ribbon cables could not be seated properly.
I got Dasaita to send me a replacement TFT board for one of the units that I installed in my truck. It got the display going again but unlike your issue the backlight wouldn't light up. I found the actual component on the TFT board that was smoked. There is a zener diode that is used to control the backlight voltage. It overheated as a result of having the screen brightness at 100%. Interesting that they set the brightness to 100% from the factory, imagine that...
Those ribbon cables are very cumbersome to get seated into their sockets and they didn't leave but very very little slack to work with.
I just find it odd that the colors for the ruler on the reversing screen are correct. The color settings I was referring to before should be found under the "other" category across the top in the factory settings. You might need to scroll down that list of settings to find them. Also the factory settings are not necessarily tied to the Android version. Those are tied to the MCU firmware version. If indeed your unit does not have these settings, it could be one of the differences between your PX30 and my PX6. It's possible these might be made available on your system using an alternate password instead of 126 to get into the settings, but I have no idea what that password could be.

Hi mate, I have not been able to fix it. The only thing I "did" was to unlock the factory settings and looked around in there, but was unable to see anything that might help. Also I did take the unit a bit apart to check for loose cables but did not find any. My next step is to install a custom rom "just to see" if it is a software issue or not.
How did your problem come about? Did it just happen one day?
6 month of use? is that from new or second hand? Or was it just in the car you bought?

Thank you for the clarifications.
I bought new on aliexpress in March/2021 it worked fine until 3 weeks ago, suddenly for 2 days it was alternating the color "Normal x negative screen"..
Right from the start I suspected some HW problem, since in my neighborhood, there are many holes and the car shakes a lot.
Right now I'm talking to the seller requesting permission to disassemble the multimedia and see if there's anything loose.
I have a hunch that it might be something in FLAT or BGA since the car is in the sun and several times when I got into the car I saw that the screen was super hot (even off)
As soon as I move forward, I'll share it here with everyone.
*I'm sorry for my English.

I might do that with mine again as I did not take of the circuit boards, just took off cover and checked LCD cables.

If your unit is Dasaita, no need to ask them for permission. It is common practice for them to provide replacement parts for us customers to "fix" issues which most often requires opening the unit. The warranty on these units is for the most part worthless as it would cost more to ship the whole unit back to Dasaita than it's worth as they typically expect you to pay shipping cost both ways. Just saying.
The seller returned me and asked to do a firware update, I performed the procedure he instructed me to do, but it had no effect on the screen (I just noticed an improvement in the audio/equalization)
I'm waiting for the next steps, they asked some more day to evaluate with the manufacturer.
Hope that they can resolve the issue to your satisfaction. Please keep the community here updated.

Dasaita PX6 white screen outline

Hello,
I have had a big problem with my unit for a week, the edges of the screen are white, I don't know what I modified do you have any idea?
for me it seems a hardware failure. check on dasaita.com forum for any dasaita direct support
@IbrahDr Whatever you do, don't ask them to provide you a replacement screen with any expectation of them sending the entire screen assembly! Ask me how I know.
Good luck getting correspondence with their tech support. If you do get any support from them, they will likely charge you for replacement part(s) and send just the raw LCD screen, leaving disassembly/reassembly up to you!
Also the TFT board is a known point of failure for Dasaita units. The TFT board has the power circuit for the backlight which is known to fail if you run the brightness at 100% all the time (which conveniently it defaults to 100%).
