Nokia 6.1 GCam stopped working (and Telegram camera too) - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hi community,
did someone here also experienced third party cameras stopped working in combination with a GCam Mod installation?
Description
I tried some GCam Mods and found the PX Mod, v4.3 working for my device. I did some photo sessions with the HDR+ mode and also with the PhotoSphere (360°) mode. It worked very well.
But two weeks later i wanted to take some photos and the Camera PX wasn't able to store photos. The viewfinder works and the animation while taking a picture too. But nothing is stored.
Then over cable i looked into the storage with my PC. It shows a green image for each photo i took. The JPGs only are roughly 100 KB in size.
When i take photos with the default Nokia Camera the images are normal as always.
I thought i broke the GCam Mod and some files may be corrupted. But then i wanted to take an image with the Telegram Camera for sharing it directly in the app. Telegram also couldn't save photos. The same behavior like in Camera PX.
After that i tried to install a newer GCam Mod. (GoogleCamera 8.2.204 Mod, Version: 1.7 Greatness) But it behaves like the other Mods and the Telegram camera.
Question
Does anybody maybe know what could have been corrupted?
Greetings, kreativum

Camera Resolution Problem

Hi,
i have a huge problem with my camera. When my Mi5s arrived before one year the cam worked perfectly and the pictures were really nice. But somewhen the quality of the images went really low, so i tried different camera apps and settings, tried multiple different roms (Miui Dev, Global, etc.) but nothing helped.
The images looking like if the resolution is really low and are unsharp, especially in low light situation. The weired thing is that in the preview of the camera app the images are much sharper and more brilliant as after the photo is taken.
I am for now on the pixel experience rom (clean flash with everything wiped) and tried the stock cam, the ported google cam and the ported miui cam, but the images are all the same.
I have now clue who it can be that the images are that bad after processing in every app
Does anybody have an idea why this happens and how to solve this? i didnt find anywhere similar problems with this phone/cam.
Thanks

Maybe you can try magisk module from tadi's libhack (this module is for oreo) And make sure your gcam setting set correctly.
Didnt help, but thank you!
It looks more like a too long shutter time if you ask me. Did you used the Mi5s specific port of GCam? Search here for "v2e", which will give you the latest one that worked great with my device: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
For settings I use:
Model Pixel 2 XL (some users have better results with Nexus 6P)
Config HDR Pixel 2017 ZSL
HDR+ Very high
Final JPG Qual 100% (although 95% should also be enough)
And enabled increased detail of HDR+ on front camera
The author suggests these settings himself:

Can't shoot pictures in burst mode?

Hi everybody!
I have latest LOS 15.1 firmware, and tried with default LOS camera, BSG mod camera, ARNOVA mod camera and finally default google camera.
ARNOVA and BSG sometimes produced gray pictures or videos (they almost used no storage, so I guess they were defective somehow), anyway:
I can shoot single pictures, that's ok, but even enabling burst mode, I can't shoot a burst of pictures just keeping the shoot button pressed.
Is it only me? any of you have this problem? how to solve it?
It was working nice on LOS14, but I can't make it work in LOS15 (and when I used miui it worked fine too?)
Please, help me, I have a nervous son that is never still enough to shoot a nice picture, and the only way is to shoot bursts and hope for the best ;D (most times he's a blurry thing in a perfectly still photo
Edited: deleted google camera, instales los 15.1 stock camera Android arnova mod pixel v6.
If I use the front camera, I can shoot bursts no problem, if I use back camera, no way

Is there a way to fix dark video on modded gcams for Oreo roms?

Hello, i've been using arnova's modded gcams for a while, and noticed that video recording is extremelly dark, and sometimes get black screen flashes on it, not even close to photo's quality.
The only camera that seems to be doing an extremelly good job with videos is the oneplus modded one, but it lacks a lot of features.
Actually the image quality of the modded Gcam is shocking when enabling hwhdr on debugging and setting hdr to high, video doesn't stand a chance. As it doesn't happen only on one app, I believe it is a system or a camera2api configuration that the oneplus camera and the default camera ignores (I am running Pixel Experience, feb latest build, but it's a thing on every Oreo's ROM).
Is there anyone that knows about the topic any way or idea to debug it -be it from the camera source files or from the c2a settings-? It would be insane to have also the video ia for stabilization of the Gcam and maybe it can compare or be better than the OnePlus Camera.
Open to suggestions !
They is another problem with the modded gcam, when we select 60fps option camcorder the screen flickers while focusing and thats been recorded
There's nothing to do to check flickering, dark video and fix colours on preview? images looking a bit color-dead before obturation on some cameras, seems that only aplications that overrides those settings are working good. (modded gcams are dark and flickers on video, apps like instagram that doesnt obture gets a bit of lack of colours since preview doesnt do a bit of hwhdr to have an more accurate end result to obturation and also nicer looks on instagram photos). Seems to be a problem with the phone configuration since the camera can record well on other devices, and the op camera can record well on ours. Not like there are no ways around now, we can use both cameras and take the images with stock camera before uploading them but in long term it would be a nice improvement on social networks direct uploading, easier to take videos and photos on a single application (also to have gcam benefits as it is video stabilization). Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly, im not so good at english. Also, I didnt develop directly for android/camera but if someone with a bit of idea gives me the hand I can check out the settings. I don't have so much free time to learn now but as a developer with a couple of tips on the topic maybe I can find a way around to check those settings. Or if an experienced developer with time and will to do it I can help out maybe. I believe it's worth to give it a look

Question about Arnova's Google Cam for OP5T and its fix

While looking for a nice Google Cam port for this handset, the XDA Portal Google Cam Hub mentioned Arnova's port. I've also seen that there is a fix for our device so that the port works properly, and that it needs root or TWRP to be installed. Without root and with the stock recovery, I proceeded to install the GCam port and used it for a couple of days, comparing its pics with others from the stock camera app. I have a couple of questions:
I've noticed no difference in quality. Do I need to adjust something in the settings of the ported APK other than to prevent the camera from taking purple photos? Maybe I'm doing something wrong and the quality could be better, maybe on the OP5T there isn't a big difference in camera quality between stock and GCam, and I just don't know it.
Is the fix needed if I'm just going to use the ported APK to take still pictures with the rear camera? I've read that the fix just deals with recording video and with the front camera.
Thank you beforehand. Probably there are details that I failed to read when I was searching for the port, but with this GCam thing being so decentralized it's a mess.
The image quality es better, less postprocessing and HDR+ it's just fantastic and GCam always perfect White Balance
I found that some versions of Arnova has that purple thing, just try diferents versions and stick to the best one (it depends if your ROM has the libs like Omnirom Treskmod)
Just try diferent Arnova versions : https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Cheers

Camera app with fewer glitches for LOS 17.1?

I tried Open Camera, and... Don't record...
I tried some GCam APKs and dont record too...
The stock camera app is a sh*t, the photos seem taken with shi**y phones (but... It can record)
So... What is the best camera app (that works well)? Or some GCam APK that works fine?

Well, the devs can't do anything about it (give that a read: https://www.xda-developers.com/came...opers-make-hardware-work-without-source-code/) The best is Gcam 5.1 - it is the only thing that seems to work almost perfectly. All later Gcams can't record video. Other camera apps (like Open Camera) should record videos, but sadly since the April builds it's broken. The fix is already in the code for the next build but as of now there is no next build. Wait for it. Other issues you will have with non-Gcam or stock cam:
- 2 photos without reopening camera (or going to gallery) is broken
- On low light photos will be s**t. Not because quality - but... well, it looks funny; and green. And horrible.
My recommendation for photos: Gcam 7.2 (when you aren't on Lineage or crDroid, with disabled HDR+)
My recommendation for videos: Nothing, they are broken in the current builds. When it's fixed anything except Gcam.

None, the only real solution is LineageOS 14.1, the cam works perfectly in it.
