Hey guys I just found out that using a Gcam apk and a provided .xml for the POCO F3 the ultrawide camera shoots 4K video on stock MIUI 12.5. Does anyone know why is this not an option on the MIUI Camera? I mean the stabilization is not that great like the MIUI camera (it still has EIS) but at least they could give as the option to shoot at 4K. Does anyone else discovered this weird behavior?

Does this works smoothly in Poco F3 or is it heating the phone? I'm very interested in this cause I love to shoot 4K videos.

Installed BSG's from here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/p/gcam-poco-f3-redmi-k40/
and then sideloaded this xml AMG699.xml from here https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/configs-bsg-01/ (search for Poco F3). There are also instructions on the first link on how to do all of this and you can experiment with different apks. Hope I helped
Hey guys
A noob question here, I attempted to download the XML file and it opens in browser, I downloaded an XML creator and pasted the XML content however it does not recognise this as an XML file, I used another app but one can only read the XML file, not edit nor save. May I kindly ask for your help with this please? Thank you.
You dont have to open anything, you just copy the .xml file to the correct location, not the text/content of the .xml file. Read here on how to do it correctly https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/settings09/

Hey, thanks guys. I followed the instructions. Created a Gcam file in the same level as DCIM, then within that file I created a configs8 file. I used Firefox and was able to download the XML file and moved it to the configs8 file. I think that's all correct. Once more, thanks!
anyone try latest beta? Im useing it with no config and seems to be working running Arow 12

See screenshots for which versions I'm using and xml's to go with those versions. Note: they're probably quite dated now, have been out the loop for a while with updates!
By the way, if you want to experiment with gcam versions, just download different apk's, example MGC/ENG/SNAP... etc, that way you can have more than one installed.

This ROM has all the features LineageOS has to offer.
All hardware functions including:
NFC
IR Blaster
Fingerprint Scanner
Capacitive Home Button
Camera for Pics & Video
And
Most everything else…you’ll need to let me know what doesn’t work.
Root is not built in, so you can add whichever root app you want.
Required prior to installing → Custom Recovery
Installation Instructions:
Download the most recent build
Download Gapps (I use Open Gapps Mini)
From Recovery:
Full Wipe (Recommend full wipe and factory reset)
Flash ROM zip
Flash Gapps zip
Optional → Flash root app
Downloads
Latest ROM:

I removed the stock CM music player and replaced it with the "VanillaMusic" player from XenonHD ROM, and use AOSP Setup Wizard since Lineage one isn't very good.
Thanks to:
The Lineage Team for the kernel & device source and a whole lot of things.
@StoneTrapper
@pappaschlumpf
Without these folks helping out, this ROM would be waaaaaaayyyy farther back in development. I owe these guys a tremendous debt of gratitude. Feel free to thank them for me
Additional huge thanks to the folks at EAS-Project for creating the Vox Populi power HAL that makes EAS work.

As such, feature requests may or may not get implemented, and it may take me quite a while to get ém done if they do. I thank you all for your patience on that.
Also, I do have a day job, so I may not be able to answer questions or address concerns right away. I thank you for your understanding on that.
All that said, I hope you enjoy the ROM

This ROM does not, and as far as I'm aware, none of the others do either. That's something that @StoneTrapper and I briefly talked about, but we haven't explored it too much yet.
We're not completely sure what's involved in getting that to work, but we will look into it.

Ok, I checked into it and asked @StoneTrapper about HDR in RR. HDR does work in LOS, but for some reason when the app is first opened, the HDR option is greyed out. To get it to work, tap on the icon in the upper right to change modes, and HDR icon becomes active. Also, there is an HDR option in the list once the upper right icon is tapped.
There is no difference between pictures with HDR enabled and without HDR. Thank you.

I was able to activate the HDR according to your instructions. Thank you. But I do not see any difference in the quality of the pictures. Otherwise, the assembly is very good.

I am using a Lenovo p2a42 on aicp 7.1.2. I tried to use hdr+, but it doesn't show up in Google camera. Is it because that p2 doesn't support it or is it possible to edit for example the build.prop and get it. Does it work on the stock rom?

Yes stock rom supports hdr
You mean Google hdr+(ported camera app from Pixel)???
I'm also looking for a working Google HDR+ camera app for Lenovo P2, would you please share it with us?
First of all, hdr+ works generally only on Pixel devices - so officially, no way to get it to work just by using the play store and downloading the app.
There is a ported version that works on SD820/821/835 devices, but this one doesn't work with the P2 as well, as the cpu isn't supported (yet?!?).
So, until then, no way to get hdr+ running on the p2

Actually it's working on redmi note 4 which has the same specs as Lenovo p2....same processor sd625 and camera sensor....so my question is, has anyone tested it with Lenovo p2(custom rom)?? Bcuz I don't want to root my phone without a working Google hdr+ camera app.....
I just checked that and while that seems to be true, it still doesn't work with the P2 ^^
Camera API2 is enabled, the camera also supports all manual modes (See attachment), but the Google camera doesn't work at all (See other attachement). You'll have to make do with the hdr mode of opencamera, which is fine, but pretty slow. Stil, the results are imho better than stock Lenovo hdr mode.

Had to edit out the picture due to visible faces, so here is the "correct" second attachement - to your question: I'm currently using the AEX 8.0 alpha, works linke a charm; snappy, bug-free as can be, fine as a daily driver (other bugs like notification LED and not working fp-gestures also are in every other custom-rom).
So you could perhaps start with that.
Cm14.1 should be very stabile too, although I didn't try that one, so I can't give any advice there.

I think it should work with any custom rom. Dont forget to add mentioned line to buildprop.
Hm, HDR+ with the camera you posted works fine on my AEX 8.0, the Pixel Camera (also with hdr+) however, doesn't. So, what's the difference between yours and this one: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195922284
Edit: I'll correct myself and say that it doesn't works. HDR+ enabled and disabled give the exact same results, comparing that to open cameras HDR, there is a night and day difference.

Does portrait mode really work under miui running android 7?!
Also, is the image fluid and smooth while using the gcam you linked to under miui?
I tried an older version of gcam with eu miui running android 7 in the past, and it was nowhere close to the way gcam works smoothly under los (especially los 15.1 running androud 8.1). Under miui the image was updated in a chppy slow manner indoors.
If all works well, please send screenshots with your settings of gcam in all the menus.
I am only using los15.1 for gcam, otherwise I'd love to return to miui...

Very cute kid!
I'm amazed this works under miui... I thought portrait mode works only on Android 8. Have you done anything special to get it to work like that? Does the image refresh fast while using gcam?
Can you please screenshot your version of miui from settings?
This changes a lot - I've been using los 15.1 only for the gcam, and have missed the miui rom which I much prefer and the panorama mode and time lapse of the miui camera.

It works exactly the same as in LOS 15.1, at least the version I put in the link (MGC_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__A7.0-8.1_MI5S_v2e.apk). As you can see from the file name, this apk is special for MI5s, both for Android 7 and 8.1.. Same refresh speed, colors, focus, etc.
The only difference is that in LOS everything works, and in MIUI the portrait doesn't work in the front camera. I think it can be fixed with an extra zip, but I don't need it because it's not important to me.
As for the installation, there is nothing special about it. You can install apk directly on MIUI Global or miui.eu without any problems.
I recommend that you make a backup, install MIUI and try it yourself. If you are not convinced, you can restore the backup

Update: I did all the above, but found that this version of gcam tends to overexpose the images greatly. I returned to my twrp backup of los15. Q, installed this gcam and compared it to the version I use under los15. 1 and it still tends to overexpose, so I guess I'm staying with los15.1 for now.

Does this version work well with portrait mode under MIUI running android 7.0?
Have you used it yourself like that?

It has no data like that in app info (look sc). I give you app settings so you can see what it has, advance menu is there, it has motion (option). And you can see what settings i use, othere settings give green in high light, and this is bes i could tune it.
You go on link i send you and search for all 5.xxx (for pecise version look at sc) version of app and install one by one (skip no settings one), and you will find. If i find time i will search.
I am using MIUI 9.2.1.0 Global Stable (Android 7.0).
Edit:
MGC_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__A7.0-8.1_MI5S_v2e
this is only apk i found on my pc, i can't test right now is that one (i will lose org app that works), so can you test is that one, go on link ctrl+f search for this string and download that one and try.

Thanks! I hope to find time for this tomorrow
I'm following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-how-to-enable-camera2-api-t3851414
And it takes you to a thread with old boot images, and I was wondering if there were any ones that were more recent (i.e. January 2020 security patch). Or does it not matter if I'm using this method only to enable camera2api?
Thanks
Grab the latest stock Rom from here and download it (10.0.18.0 is Jan 2020) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/fastboot-xiaomi-mi-a2-fastboot-images-t3824871
Then follow this guide until step 9 to get your own patched boot.img : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-install-magisk-proper-support-ota-t3836952
It matters which version of the boot.img you're using, if you happen to use an older version, your device won't boot and you won't be able to do what you want.

Thanks for the help. But after reading that thread, it looks like a lot of people lost their data doing it, so maybe it's not worth it

Search for my comment in the same thread, I described the way you should follow to avoid data loss. With my method you won't lose your data. But also if this is your first time unlocking the bootloader, you will lose data. If you've unlocked the bootloader before then you won't have any issues. Cheers.

Go to developer settings in the Settings > System. If you can't see it there, you need to enable it first. To do that go over to About Phone in settings and tap on the Build Number several times, until you get a toast notification saying Developer settings are enabled.
Once you're in the developer settings, find the USB Debugging option and enable it. After you connect your phone and execute "adb shell" command, a pop-up will appear on your phone saying if you want to trust this computer, tap yes then you'll be good to go.
EDIT: I believe you tried to use 7zip for extraction, 7zip can only extract 1 archive at a time and the file you downloaded is compressed twice (tar, gz). WinRAR can decompress the file in one go. Final files have no difference so use whichever suits you best. Don't forget to use my method while locking the bootloader again. Cheers.
Hey! Don't want to open a new forum so I'm just curious which version of gcam you guys are using? Can someone suggest me a gcam? The ones I tried all have some bugs (for example: random freezing, slow motion video lagging etc.). Or there's not a single gcam that has all it's features working on mi a2 lite?
Currently I'm using GCam_v7.0.009-v4.4.front.hdr.working.

There is not a single gcam that has everything working currently, there are 2 reasons for this and lags :
1 - Our CPU is old, so it can't handle gcams' processing that well.
2 - There has never been a single gcam optimized for our device, except for hass31's gcam port. But that gcam's version is 5.1 and although it worked wonders in Oreo, it has focus issues on Pie.
The gcam you're using produces the best results on this phone right now, at least the front and back cameras work. You can try Urnyx05's gcam ports version 6, those will have back camera working, but the front cam HDR+/HDR+ Advanced won't work. If you downgrade to Oreo, you can use hass31's port. Or you can flash a custom kernel on stock Pie ROM, which fixes the focus issues. If you only have Cam2API enabled with a locked Bootloader, I'd suggest sticking to the gcam you're using right now, because it's the one that works properly. But feel free to test other gcam ports here : https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

Thank you for your detailed answer! Guess I stay with the one I use for now. I'm a bit disappointed as the stock camera records slow motion but gcam don't ,but having an app that makes better quality pictures is more important. Shame xiaomi doesn't update their camera app so we could use theirs with Cam2API.

Yep, Xiaomi doesn't care about their AndroidOne devices, we learnt that the hard way. Meanwhile as I've mentioned the most stable gcam version out there is hass31's Mi A2 Lite optimised port. I'd suggest giving it a try, if you're willing to flash a custom Kernel on Stock. Because it checks all the boxes you've mentioned (including slo-mo), but it lacks Night Sight.
Not sure if anybody has tried this, sorry I don't have gcam enabled on my device so cannot test, but on my redmi note 4 that is almost the same hardware this one works really well

I had the same problem with my Mi 11 Lite 5G NE, tried various guides, no luck
Finally I made V4A working for me the following way:

However, I'm on stock and MIUI 12.5.8/A11 - you can try does the same work for your custom ROM A12

[Bounty] Viper4android fix
So I'm not sure if I'm doing this the right way, but I think in an effort to get experienced devs to take a look into our viper4android driver loop issue a bounty is in order. I have tried every method I could find to get viper4android to work...

I used these instructions on both xiaomi.eu and now PixelOS, Viper4Android works perfectly.
[APP] [FIX] 100% working Viper4Android for Android 10-11-12 devices
If you are someone like me who encountered countless problems while installing Viper4Android on your Android 10 or 11 device and have no idea what to do then you are in the right place. Just download and install the apk from the attachment below...

Btw, did your phone come or you upgraded to MIUI 13/A12?
Also, you used Xiaomi.eu ROM (Weekly or Stable) with A12?
I'm asking bcs I'm curious, you are quoting to my post for (stock) MIUI 12.5.8/A12 for Lisa, I'd like to know does it work for A12 as well (potentially different folders for audio drivers)
@zgfg
Phone came with MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11, I upgraded it to MIUI 13 / Android 12. Battery life was pathetic on stock for me, so unlocked and flashed the stable xiaomi.eu ROM.
Moved to an AOSP ROM (PixelOS) a week back because I prefer stock Android any day. Battery life is far better than even xiaomi.eu.
But I was able to successfully install Viper4Android on both xiaomi.eu and now PixelOS using these instructions. Although there is one additional step I did which is not mentioned here. I manually copied the audio_effects.xml file to all the locations mentioned in the instructions. You need to copy over the xml file which has v4a_fx mentioned inside the file after the copyright section. It is also the larger size file (7.93 KB for me). Unfortunately I don't remember where this file is originally stored for you to copy it. But you can search for it using a file manager that supports root. You need to copy this file to the locations mentioned after installing Viper plus the driver and rebooting for the first time.
Also make sure that all other audio mods like AudioFX, Dolby Atmos, etc are not installed before installing Viper. I am aware of Audio Modification Library which integrates multiple audio mods, however I have never used it. I suppose it will be even more difficult to install Viper with AML. I could be wrong though. Anyway, for me Viper is enough.
Apparently the problem is with the atom kernel, I say this because I installed the same OS on my two devices (Alioth and Lisa), on Alioth SuperiorOS uses n0kernel, on Lisa it uses atom kernel, and in Alioth a simple installation of the module audio modification library + V4A already worked, a pity that the same does not happen in Lisa, the same already happened in Evox.
Does anyone know which pixelOS kernel it uses?
I'm seriously thinking about going back to Memeui with Lisa, my last attempt will be AOSPA which apparently doesn't use atom kernel.

I also face this problem once in a while. Try toggling Legacy Mode on and off. You can also force close the app playing audio and Viper and then first open Viper, then your music app and resume playback. It should start processing again.

Then perhaps it could be due to the audio_effects.xml file. The file found in /data/adb/modules/ViPER4AndroidFX/system/vendor/etc has to be copied over to /vendor/etc and /vendor/etc/audio/inside whatever folder you have there. For me on a 11 Lite NE 5G it is SKU_YUPIK.
The file in the original location (/data/adb/modules/ViPER4AndroidFX/system/vendor/etc) must have v4a_fx mentioned in it. You can search within the file for it to confirm. It is after the copyright section.
After all this is done, restart and you should be good. Also ensure Legacy Mode is enabled and Compatibility Mode is disabled. If all else fails, try starting from scratch using the instructions by user "zgfg" that I linked to.
If it still doesn't work, then I'm sorry, I really don't know. Hope you can get it running though. The difference Viper makes is really like night and day!

that folder you mentioned is empty, and i've tried to search with my root explorer. unfortunately i don't have audio_effects.xml file on my phone.. how can i solve this sir?? can i download it from the internet??
EDIT : i have found it sir.. i have copied that file from data/adb/modules/VIPER4AndroidFX/system/vendor/edc to vendor/etc but i don't have folder named audio inside but i have folder called dolby
Sorry, I have no idea then. What I do know is Viper will not work with existing audio mods so you'll have to remove/disable those. There is a Magisk module for multiple audio mods, but I have never used it.
That yupik folder is specific to a 11 Lite NE. I have two other phones, they don't have a yupik folder in them. But they are also running Android 11, which is easier to get Viper working on compared to Android 12.
You'll have to research how to get it working specifically for your phone.
