Hi,
I have owned three original (Not NE) Mi 11 Lite 5G phones. The last one was finally an RGB screen.
But i noticed that the phone modem is heating up the phone like crazy if you downland around 2-5MB/s for a long period of time. The phone even turned of the WiFi Hotspot a few times because of overheating.
And i also noticed that it uses way more electricity then my old phone. When i download with around 2-5MB/s then my PC cannot keep the phone 100% charged.
My old Mi Max 3 doesn't have any of those problem. Dose the NE suffer the same overheating problem and high battery usage like the original Mi 11 Lite 5G?
I don't have this heating problem in my 11 Lite 5G, the phone heats as a usual phone but this is so worst you should check with the Xiaomi service center.
You have to downland at least over 3-4MB/s for a few minutes to get the overheating problem.
And if you then have some CPU/GPU stuff running in the background, then it's game over.
same problem here with multiple mi 11's , I live in a small city with good 4g/5g connection and unlimited usage, so very often I download something via mobile, phone gets ultra hot ( and yes, so hot that it turns off hotspot ) I get from 20-80MB/s

No, on the NE version I do not observe the problem with overheating - neither in access point mode, nor in usb modem mode.
@NeoDJW
Also with the NE one?
@Nordicus
People forget that this happens if you also downland with at least 40MB/s speed for a period of time. Did you do that?

Interesting question. Cell standby seemed high at times, wonder if the baseband is being over driven a little.
It only heats in direct sunlight. (I did took my time and restricted some app to run in background)
I experienced recent overheating while using the 2021.10 Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE in direct sunlight. I used for a RAID in PoGo and after the RAID was over, the overheat warking kicked in and everything was shut down, GPS, LTE, BT and WiFi all gone. I had a hard time to bring it back to live to catch my MewTwo. No kidding, this phone is useless for me for multiple scenarios.
And yes the phone must have donwloaded a lot of data during this RAID because it was connected using LTE 4G and game synchronisation data is downloaded during this activity.
Colleagues used Pocophone F1 and Mi 9 Lite phones, same direct sunlight, screen was well visible on both and they did not experience any overheating issues on their phones.
1. overheating in direct sunlight (this happened with 28 degrees of celsius outdoor temperature.
2. POLED screen not readable in direct sunlight (I tried sunlight mode, does nothing)
3. Useless on vacation trips with temperatures at 40 degrees celsius
My phone is on 13.0.8 so I cannot compare with other firmware, but I am about to get rid of the phone. Luckily I am still in my 30 days return policy.
I had very high hopes for this model, light and good battery but with what I experienced and the weather outside was not even super hot, this is not a phone suitable for my needs.

Hi
Just got this phone as an insurance replacement and really like it except that the phone gets really hot when using mobile data and then won't wake from sleep. I'm assuming its a heat issue. Using the B112 version of the software. Initially I though it was because it was rooted but even after a reset and un-rooted it's still happening. Think I've pinned it down to it happening when mobile data is switched on but there maybe another issue. Any ideas or advice gratefully recieved. Thanks

Nope not gaming much. Seems to happen when ever the screen is on full brightness and I use any app for any length of time. With auto on it seems ok but I like to show off the screen. Tried it with and without a case still shuts off and wont turn on for about 10 minutes with screen on full. Any ideas or am I stuck with a dim screen?
Thanks

Not an answer, but I use mine on full brightness with mobile data on whenever I'm outdoors and browsing, haven't had any issues. Running 116SP01 on O2 in the UK. You could try switching ROM versions and if it still does it flash back to 112 then return it as a faulty replacement?

Think I've pinned it down to screen brightness. Gamed for a good 2 hours last night on half brightness. The phone got hot but I was able to wake it from sleep as normal. Possible that the screen on full brightness generates too much heat when doing something intensive? May try the 117 rom this weekend. Thanks

how do you upgrade to 118? ive heard 120+ is lso around the web. can you tell me were to get it? Also does version you use provide any better battery by much? ive heard battery is awful with this phone but want to buy it
You can find stock firmware here: http://www.huaweiblog.de/downloads/ascend-p6-downloads/
Try B119. You can flash this rom via update app in your phone.
I got my phone 1 month ago. I rooted and flashed rom imidiatly.
I never got to use stock rom for very much so i was wondering if this is normal temperature while light browsing web.
Running CM11 (same thing with CM12/12.1) on powersaver usualy sometimes balanced.
51°C no runing games or anything heavy as i said (App:CPUTemp ).

In compare to my device (CM11 by Rox) my idle temp is around 20 C and MAX 45 C after few hours of Thr Room gaming. In GPS routing mounted to the front window of my car and 500 km. of direct sunlight + incar temperature Around 30 C the max that I was saw is 54 C. Please, check the others opinions of others S3 Neo owners, because for me, your temps is high enough!

Strange but i remember once i had the same issue on using net through chrome and i had a pouch like this. I did nothing. I turned off my mobile for few minuts and it was just fine. But in low signals i have never used chrome again. If your phone is doing this continually then may be there is a problem. Then try to use mobile without pouch.
Relax sometimes it happens.

Also if you still have the phone could you measure the temperature after 5min of light web browsing?

I think your CPU Temp app is a crap. Take a look at attachments. I took them at the same time. But i am using two different apps. And i am just using UC browser and whatsapp right now.
First try another app. If problem doesn't solve then it might be the signal problems.

Hey,
Since some weeks I have a very annoying Problem with my Redmi Note 5 (global) always shut down (completely off, no restart) as soon when I am out side or the ambient temperature is getting low like for example -4°c / 24,8 Fahrenheit. It completely turns off and sometimes doesn't want to turn on again for quite a while and also don't take a charge. The temperature should normally not be a big deal for a phone and my girlfriend also owns a rn 5 global and she never had such a problem. I already did a reflash of miui and also now did a clean flash of Xiaomi EU rom as both didn't fixed it I also tried a different kernel now (basickernel by sgspluss) in combination with Xiaomi EU rom (phone was always rooted with magisk) but nothing helps. There is no massive battery drain and when I use a app to read CPU / battery temperature they seem also be okay. I have really no idea what could cause it I really hope someone here has an idea.
There are no Xiaomi service centers in my country.

All phones are not meant to be use under low temperature, that's written on their papers, that no one's read, kkkk. So under very low temperature and high temperature, the phones shut down, so be cool, that's not a problem related to phone, is related to temperature. Just keep him warm, and will not shut down.

Between +2 and -4°c is not really a temperature for a phone to trigger temperature protection. Also non of my coworkers and even the phone from my girlfriend which is also a Redmi note 5 shut down at this temperature.

I have an unlocked P6P on the Tmobile network. I noticed that this phone gets HOT under normal use. During setup I used it without a case because I didn't have one yet and it got really hot. I understand that it could be hot because it is doing a lot of things at the same time.
The next day after everything was setup and installed I noticed that it got pretty hot under normal use, I even turned down the brightness of the screen. This is just bowering the web, shopping on amazon and other random stuff. The thing that is kinda weird was I let the phone cool down before I played some game on it. Mario Kart go and clash royal for about 30 minute and the phone didn't get hot. It does NOT get hot charging so I am guessing it's not the battery.
The two previous phone that I had OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 5, I never had any issue with it overheating even underload.
Anyone else have issue with the phone overheating?

It seems that most problems with heat/battery life come from 5G, if the reports are true.

Your phone will connect to both wifi and 5g, try at home to turn off 5g and use wifi and 4g and see if the problem. Persists
I have had a similar experience with my P6P. Just browsing the web is get really hot and drains the battery. Mine also gets hot while charging. Today on the drive home I had navigation on while charging and in 25 minute drive it only charged 2% due to throttling bc of heat. I have 5g disabled since day 2 with phone. I also have 30w car charger capable of 3800ma charging current. This is with adaptive battery on as well. Like OP, I never had heat issues with any OP phones.
Weird, I'm not getting overheating at all (in the UK). 5g is maybe slightly warmer it's not that bad.

I also never experienced overheating, been using Pixel 6 Pro since 27.10. I did notice the first day when setting up the device that it got a little warm, but that was neither "hot" nor "overheating". It simply felt warm.
I guess it has something to do with US 5G networks, since I've not yet seen someone from Europe complaining about overheating.
I should note that there is no 5G in my area available, so my phone has always been using 4G.

Mine does the exact same thing doesn't matter if i'm on wifi or 5G with strong signals.
Also Unlocked, but on Vz network.
I would be browsing this forum and feel it start heating up randomly.
Do you also have horrible battery life?
It seems like some of the devices have these same issues, and others do not.
Mine didn't get warm/hot at all before I unlocked and rooted. I had it locked for nearly two weeks, no troubles. Now I'm experiencing this as well. Web browsing it got warm. Doing some other things today like installing a couple magisk modules, some other random things, it got somewhat warm. Not sure what's going on? I'm only on LTE where I work. Also, I've been on 5G and no issues. I wonder if something used for root, one of my root apps could be doing it?
I honestly think this is just a rebranded exynos chip, it just overheats at the slightest thing, if they can't fix the heating issues then it's defo just an exynos chip.... Which is poor

Don't give Samsung all the credit, Google is capable of creating an inefficient chip on their own, lol. Using 2 year old core modules was Googles decision, so it's not just the evil exynos at work^^
I can't remember ever thinking to myself that my P6P is hot or even kinda warm. Even when playing a few space shooter games while charging cord is plugged in.
Even watching a college football game for an hour it never got hot...
Anyone ever notice their phone getting hot and shutting down features or even turning off? I know this might be kinda extreme... My 6 pro has been shutting down all sorts of things just to cool the phone and eventually shutting off. This has been happening while I'm in a sauna after working out with the lowest brightness on even. But my Note 10 plus never even mentioned anything to me ever even with full brightness. Thanks for the help
It happened to me once with a Galaxy S7 but it was in a heatwave that said I read on forums that several users complained about an overheating problem on the pixel 6.
As the chip is made in partnership with Samsung and it is well known that exynos chips overheat other than waiting for software upgrades or sending it back there is nothing that can be done.

Interesting that your Note 10 Plus works in a sauna-environment. I would definitely call that an extreme situation where no phones needs to properly work, after all we are talking about an ambient temperature of ~ 65°C to 90°C, that's much hotter than even a desert. Most commercial products only operate up until 70° Celsius, Industrial usually up to 85°, Military ones even higher.
Personally I would never/have never taken my phone inside a sauna out of fear it might get damaged, after all it's a thousand dollar product. Treating it with care and caution is usually a wise choice, if longevity is of any concern.
Most smartphone (and desktop) processors can only take about ~100 Degrees Celsius (internal, chip temperature), before they throttle down into the abyss and try to cool down (to prevent permanent damage). But if they are in a sauna... there is no cooling down, lol. Afterall they lack a dedicated fan. As an example: It's a situation comparable with your ambient room temperature in the summer - if you have 30° Celsius in your room, but outside it's 40°, your room of course will not cool down, but heat up even more. ESPECIALLY not if you have several heaters on (= processor, display, et cetera).
That's why it's quite the achievement of your Note 10 to properly function in that kind of situation, that seems like a well-balanced phone in terms of heat/cooling. Props to Samsung in that case.
According to several reports in this forum, Tensor can get quite toasty, even in a normal environment. It shutting down in a sauna does not surprise me. There's probably nothing that you can do here, expect switch the phone or hope for a Google firmware update that lowers the coreclock.
I haven't had any overheating. I think the very first day when I was setting up the phone and restoring from my cloud backup it got a little warm, but mine hasn't overheated at all or shut down anything. I am probably not pushing the envelope of what any phone could handle, however.
Haven't witnessed any overheating on my unit.
Never had this happen on any of my recent phones including my Note 10 plus and my buddy has a new 20 Samsung as well.. No problems for them or anyone else with their iphones and a few others while they are in sauna as well.. even my samsung ear buds murder this thing lol
NOTE TO ALL POTENTIAL 6 OR 6P BUYERS: this is not a common phenomenon. Just want to put that out there.
I use GSAM bettery monitor (with the ADB mods) and it works great to watch the temp. Once or maybe twice it got warm (107F) when I was backing up the entire unit to my NAS (or vice versa). Ever since it gets warmer when I use it more, and then cooler when I don't.

I think you answered your own question buddy... The temperature in the sauna ranges typically between 60oC to 95oC. Your Pixel phone is designed to operate up to 45oC at extreme situations.
I'm afraid the problem lies with the owner in your case, not the device itself.
A Sauna?! A SAUNA?? Did I read that right? I .... I .... I just don't understand. And when my sister "washes" her Galaxy S20 under the tap, the first thing she says: "Samsung says it's OK! The phone is Waterproof and Heat Proof and Mud Proof!" ... ok the last two things are false but every galaxy owner I've come across thinks their phone can be used in a shower, hmmm....
Again... I knew I would catch some crap for posting this.. but I'm trying to figure out why most and yes I said most phones do not have a problem including my old note 10+ and also my other friends phones and random people as well..
My Note would be full brightness and wouldn't even really feel hot. Warm yes and it would continue to work just perfect.. I even tried to put my 6 pro in battery saver mode which shuts down cores and it still could not last 5 mins at the lowest brightness.. My Note in performance mode and full brightness would last the full 25+ minutes I would be in there.
Looking for advice or answers. I've stated comparisons with the same scenarios with two completely different phones of my own along with others. One works great and another does not..
