Question Ultra wide band for all? - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Has anyone with a Google unlocked P6P (previously no UWB) experienced UWB connection with the December update (US Carriers) . I just switched my 5G Verizon account (on a Google unlocked) to one that includes UWB (i upgraded for other features all at the same price of my current plan) but we don't have it where i live (barely have 5G but i'm future proofing) so i'm just curious whether the Google unlocked really did achieve UWB.

UWB has nothing to do with 5G that Google just enabled on the P6P
What is Ultra-Wideband (UWB)? Here's everything you need to know | Bleesk

Thank you for the information. What is the 5G that was added that unified carriers?

I just checked the T-Mobile 5G UC connection with my P6P running the 17 update. Speetest registered 362 Mbps! It's faster than my home connection.

Judging by the speed I'm probably picking up 5G medium wave. I've seen reports of over 700.

To be fair, VZW does market their mmwave service as 5G UW (Ultra Wideband) I was confused, too

Jea, that's marketing mumbo jumbo.
The Ultra Wideband that the P6 Pro has is a new standard, just like NFC, Bluetooth or WLAN. It's designed to offer a similar experience like NFC (close contact data transmission), but offers much higher data speeds (MB/s instead of kb/s). As of now it's relatively exclusive, since only a couple High-End phones support this (IPhones Max, Samsung Ultra, Pixel 6 Pro...) and on the other side there's almost no usecase (yet). Beyond a couple of industry operations (those ones have specific and special equipment, so they don't use phones) only BMW offers this tech to unlock a couple of their higher tier cars, so it's a technology that is only usable for a couple hundred/maybe thousand people on planet earth right now.
In the future, this tech might be used for identification (there's talk about ID on phone or whatever), but those plans will not come to bear earlier than in 2-3 years. UW - as of now - is something nice for a spec list, but in real world usage, it's almost useless.

Question Can I switch to Verizon with this phone?

It seems most of the 4G and 5G bands are compatible. I'm just not sure about 3G with the CDMA vs GSM. My service through TMobile just hasn't been good enough.
Thanks!
2125 should work fine. 2127 may or may not work. The rest will not work
Verizon's network is mostly 4G or newer nowadays. CDMA will be a factor in coverage but it's minor. I occasionally will pop into the Verizon network with a random device if I know it's compatible with the bands Vzw use. Pop in a sim and give it a whirl.
I'm using Verizon on my 2125. My coverage and service speed is way better in my area than it was with TMobile. Calls texts and data all work fine.
Hi, I'm using Verizon with this phone. No issues at all. My phone usually is on the 5g network, sometimes on 4g. Only thing is that voice over wifi does not work. Besides that service is great.
VoWifi doesn't work. I haven't found a way to enable that on Verizon. Everything else works fine for me. Speeds could be better but that's probably just my area.

CDMA is not a factor in any LTE or 5G phone. Verizon requires a flag CDMA_Less for this phone. Others that are Verizon phones have that set automatically in the back end. This flag has been required for correct functionality for at least 3 years.

Although the OnePlus 9 lineup is now certified for Verizon, spectrum limitations, setup bugs, and other oddities mean that a Samsung handset may be the better choice for those not committed to the OnePlus brand.

Uhhhhh, what? None of that is actually true. And that article doesn't "explain" anything. It's literally not saying anything close to what you are.
Perhaps this will explain it better. There's a reason VZW isn't selling the OP9s. VZW has invested heavily in c-band while T-Mobile is utilizing the low sub 6. The OP9 doesn't have the c- band capabilities since most of the world is doing mm UW and sub 6.too tired to go any further. Most people on VZW had to shut 5g off because of the latency issues. If VZW does indeed sell the Op9 pro it will be c band compatible but will be more expensive to produce. Again I didn't switch to TMobile because VZW did something wrong. I switched because if I'm going to buy a 5g phone in 2021 I want it to work in 5g now not in 2022. VZW is late to the game in true 5G. And they had a net loss of subscribers because of this. Personally I do not like tmo. I don't like their CEO especially so im not knocking VZW.

Your post still had no basis in reality whatsoever. I don't give 2 ****s about Verizon, I'm not trying to defend them. I'm just saying you're spreading completely false information.
Here, I'll break it down:
Verizon sold their towers and T-Mobile bought them? That's... just not accurate at all. Are you talking about this?
America Tower: T-Mobile co-locating gear on Verizon towers we bought
American Tower sees a strong future ahead for its portfolio of cell towers it acquired earlier this year from Verizon Wireless, according to an American Tower executive. T-Mobile US, in particular, has been looking to co-locate its network gear on those towers as it expands its LTE network. |...

Verizon leased their towers to a 3rd party company who then sublets the towers. You DO realize that each cell tower holds multiple carriers, right?

"admitted". So is T-Mobile in a bunch of areas. And AT&T. Also, you're thinking of SA and NSA (standalone and non-standalone), not NR. NR (New Radio) allows for SA and NSA, and it's a Qualcomm thing, not a Verizon or T-Mobile thing.

Lawmakers and the FCC don't change "definitions" of "5G speeds". Nobody does. 5G isn't determined by speed at all. 5th Generation connectivity. It's how phones connect to the towers, not what speeds they run at. If you're getting 1mb/s on a 5G tower, does that mean you're on 3G? OF COURSE NOT. Just like if you're connecting at 200mb/s on LTE, that doesn't make you "5G".
Also while your phone will work on VZW it will not have the correct radio in it to truly take advantage of 5G.

I really don't think you read the article you linked. The only thing the OP 9 and 9 Pro lacks is wifi calling on Verizon. MAYBE you're trying to say the 9 won't connect to MM-Wave while the Pro can, but it's like that on every carrier. The 9 won't connect to T-Mobile's MM-Wave either. Now, the article DOES mention that the 9Pro won't SAY it's on MMWave, because it's missing the ICON. The Icon.
Insiders tell me that OnePlus could fix this by adding a Verizon "icon pack" to its firmware. I've asked OnePlus for comment and I'll update this when I hear back. The phones also don't work with Verizon's Wi-Fi calling feature. There's just no option to turn it on. Verizon tells me there is no plan to add that, at least for now. I've also asked OnePlus about that.

The C-Band auction literally ended what, 3 months ago? Verizon and T-Mobile don't even plan on rolling it out until late 2022. Why would they sell phones with it NOW? Also, the "rest of the world"? The EU hasn't rolled out MMWave yet, as they just ended the first rounds of spectrum auctions. MOST countries barely have any 5G, if any. And that's fine, because 5G is mainly about capacity, not speed. And they don't need the capacity right now, LTE-A is working fine for them.
Also, you're confusing C-Band with the existing mid-band spectrum that T-Mobile acquired from Sprint, which is used on band 41 and is known as the "faster" 5G (though still slower than MMWave). T-Mobile's low band 5G isn't about speed either, it's about capacity. You're lucky to get over 75mb/s with their low band stuff. Just like Verizon. Go figure. The lower bands have slower speed and reach further, that's just how physics work.
Most people on VZW had to shut 5g off because of the latency issues. If VZW does indeed sell the Op9 pro it will be c band compatible but will be more expensive to produce.

Again, NO carrier has C-Band deployed right now, and won't be deployed in any large scale for at least a year. Why would they make a 9 Pro with it later on when it will be at least TWO models behind? (The 9T and the 10, possibly the 10T as well)
I switched because if I'm going to buy a 5g phone in 2021 I want it to work in 5g now not in 2022.

Verizon has been losing customers to T-Mobile for years now. It doesn't have anything to do with 5G, it's about being priced out of the budget market. They want to focus on ARPU vs number of lines, while T-Mobile took the opposite approach, hence them giving out free lines right before every earnings report.

Basically, but not exactly. There's a reason global converted OP9P from tmo must reflash the tmo modem for each OTA.
Since OP already has the 2127, worst case is you give it a shot and see if it works. Maybe it will, may not.

General Google Pixel 6 5G is about to get faster than ever on T-Mobile

https://www.phonearena.com/news/t-mobile-google-pixel-6-5g-faster-speed_id137167
According to a report by AndroidPolice, U.S. mobile carrier T-mobile plans to bring even faster lightning 5G connection speeds to the Google Pixel 6 handset, with the arrival of next year.
The speed boost will come to both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, and was actually first discovered by a fan of the publication who decided to check out the modem log of his own daily driver, the Pixel 6. Both members of the Pixel 6 series carry Samsung's in-house Exynos 5123b wireless connection modem, which was freshly released this year.
The modem log, which he has since submitted and is hosted on 4G/5G Bands & Combos, simply revealed the way that the modem handled both uplink and downlink traffic, employing various channels on multiple different bands of the spectrum. This is known as carrier aggregation, or CA, because use of the available resources is simply optimized to allow for a higher data rate per each cell.
The website 4G/5G Bands & Combos serves to list just such data, which is based on real logs from on-board smartphone modems—since a smartphone or modem maker will never actually tell you their supported combinations for 4G or 5G carrier aggregation as part of your device specs; they simply show you a 4G/5G support category number, and leave it at that.
The new log, when contrasted against the previous one from October, contains a new carrier aggregation combination for two of the 5G bands: n71 and n41. According to AndroidPolice's sleuthing, these are actually a direct match to two of T-Mobile's airwaves, 600 MHz and 2.5 GHZ. T-Mobile has apparently been testing carrier aggregation on these airwaves since 2020, and plans to send it live in 2022.
When T-Mobile finally turns on its 5G network carrier aggregation next year, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro—which already feature millimeter wave 5G reception—will be all set to boost their wireless connection speeds to even higher limits than before.

I think Verizon takes the longest out of the other US carriers to certify phones, but I wonder if Google was put to the back of the line as they were dealing with bug fixes. I dunno
This is just unacceptable whoever's fault it is. I pay for the highest tier Verizon plan and with the FAA delaying c band for 6 weeks should have given Verizon / Google enough time to certify the Pixel 5/6/6 Pro. I'm so annoyed about this and I live in an area where it is super congested and there isn't that much mmwave.
I don't know how Verizon does everything, but I can speak to their excellent obsessive-compulsiveness with regard to tower/radio management.
Spoiler: Story
In the USA, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint (before they merged), and American Tower all use(d) the same software to track maintenance/management of their cellular equipment out in the field, which is what ultimately provides service to their customers--the radios, towers, etc. Verizon was quite particular, however. They wanted things almost completely customized, just for them. Things already WERE customized for each of those clients, but Verizon wanted more. They gladly paid for it. All along their long process of "we want to make absolutely sure that this rollout works flawlessly", they even called us out on a very minor web server issue. It wasn't the fancy and expensive software we were customizing even further, it wasn't the databases customized for them, it wasn't the servers customized for them, it wasn't anything you'd expect--it was the website server software and how a particular URL was being parsed. I listened and silently agreed that it was an issue to be corrected. I spoke up, in private, having done some website management for myself, and referenced the RFC (100% coincidence with regard to my name), but I was really impressed by how particular Verizon was being. Interestingly, the other four clients didn't notice, didn't care, or were fine with it. Verizon insisted that it be corrected and changed. It wasn't always easy to do what they asked, from what I understood, but they paid for it, so it was done and everyone was salaried so they worked long and hard. As far as I know, Verizon's requests were never something which was considered a regression or a step in the wrong direction, it was just difficult and/or time-consuming. It was always them wanting things, however minor or major, to be even better than they already were, if possible; if there was an additional price for that change/improvement, they paid it. Having the best software in the world to manage their equipment wasn't good enough for them--they nit-picked and found ways to make it even better.
Verizon may be slow to do some things, and as a customer of Verizon's it does bug me at times, but less so these days. Things like the Pixel 5/6 c-band waiting and some other "this newly-released phone isn't yet certified even though it's 100% compatible" stuff used to be MUCH more commonplace about 5-10 years ago, but now a brand new phone typically works on release day. However, there's a reason they tout being "America's most reliable network". The stuff that's done behind the scenes is meticulously done. I learned to respect Verizon from a more technical and obsessive-compulsive viewpoint after comparing and contrasting the things I knew of and phone calls I was in on. I think all cellular providers have great service. My personal choice will always be Verizon (I used Verizon since 2001, and now Visible since 2019), and I'm happy to wait for c-band "certification" on the Pixel 6, whatever that entails. We'll probably get c-band in one of the coming monthly Android updates, and may even go back to a "VZW-specific" image instead of the unified ones we just switched to.

Ever since we have received the pixel 6 pro update to turn on c-band 5G, Verizon has updated their map from a 5G Ultra wide millimeter wave map with a very small footprint with everything else called 5G Nationwide or 4G LTE to a two-layer map of 5G Nationwide and 5G Ultra wide band (this includes 5g mm wave and c-band) for most cities that have 5G.
I have been using cellmapper and network info lite to record the bands for about two and a half months in Phoenix, AZ and the surrounding areas. The c-band rollout was a pretty small footprint at first and is slowly being rolled out around the freeways and surrounding city centers. The further you go away from the freeways or city centers, the more you have a combination of 4G LTE and 5G Nationwide (essentially 4g band B7, B13, and B66) with spotty 5g ultra wideband (band N77). Yet here is a map on Verizon's 5g footprint of Phoenix, AZ. I wish Verizon was honest. Verizon map
Thankfully third party maps show the footprints better based on data analytics from people like us. 3rd part map I found this on a Google search and compared it to my saved mapping profiles. They are pretty spot on.
Need to keep the carriers accountable. I'm surprised that Phoenix doesn't have much on Cellmapper for n77 and NSA trails.

Yeah, you're right. I just switched to Verizon yesterday and checked a couple spots based on their map and their map is definitely not accurate.
LOL are any of them?
TMO is the worst. I've been in a solid "pink" area and barely have service.
Following those maps is like following a political ad. And too, they both have a lot in common that is they lie like a rug and get away with it.

It does. I used cellmapper and uploaded my drives and walks. I took there community footprint and compared it to the 3rd party map I linked, which I believe they obtained from network cell info lite's api libraries.

Good point. Verizon's maps were decently accurate before they combined c-band and mmWave 5g on the map. Their 4G LTE (B7,B13, and B66) footprint (now called 5g nationwide) was reliable for about 4 to 5 years.
I have been monitoring this because I want competition for the cable companies. Cox communications in Phoenix is downright robbery and has a state sponsored monopoly.
The telecommunication ISPs can create competition that hasn't existed for 22 years. It needs to happen to drive prices down.

Question 5G slow upload speed

I have the EU version of P6P, the one without mmWave, anyway, not an issue, as mmWave is not supported by my carrier.
I have very good download speed, but upload is no more than 5-6 Mb/s.
Do you have any suggestion, please?
Likely expected behavior. Most mid-band 5G spectrum is TDD and allocated to favor downlink.
My Pixel 5 was significantly faster than my Pixel 6 Pro on 5G but even so i see 70 or 80Mbit uploads, that said i have also seen a 0.69Mbit 5G upload so it isnt always great.
It all depends on what is around you (tower wise) and which phone carrier you are using. Most people who use 5G don't see those lighting fast speeds that are often advertised. It'll presumably take a few more years before a larger chunk of us reach those speeds (due to new towers, new bands being activated and new phone modems being manufactured and utilized).
