Hi all,
I apologize if this was asked and answered already. I tried to search. Is there a way, an app, or a mod that can increase the volume of the earpiece? I am struggling with how low the volume is at maximum level. I can't even hear the person if I'm outside or in a room with other people.
Thanks!
Try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodev.volume.booster. No root needed.

Greenify says it is some kind of spy ware, ie. talking on the internet in the background . . .
.
when I try an app, I always see what Greenify says they are doing...
Are they behaving, or are they chatting ?
.
Who loves a Chatty Cathy ? Not me...
.
Okay, this is one of those apps that is always showing ads to make revenue for the dev.
um, I'd rather not run those kinds of apps. If its good, I'm all in, to buying a pro version to remove the constant ads...
This particular app has no pro version, so bye, bye little app
.
Went back to the 'store' looking for an app and was surprised that they ( sound boosters ) are a cabal. Did not see an honest, non-chatty app in the group. Sad.
So, is there an open source version of this booster app ? ? ?
And I suffer from very poor hearing...

don't install that junk. get some wireless buds. I got my first wireless buds last week just to hear talk outside (6 series is any different just an excuse to get some wireless buds). Anker makes excellent ones that are really inexpensive (lots of others also). its the best solution (or wired earbuds)
you might want to either get your ears checked or the device. I had low volume on my Pixel 4XL, still not sure why - will wipe and see later, but that was the reason why I upgraded to the P6Pro. the volume in the earpiece is like 5x as loud as I was getting that I don't even need to put the call on speaker to hear.
Yeah this thread confuses me. I find the volume on p6p to be so incredibly loud that I have to turn it waaaaaaay down so people in the next room can't overhear it.

Well, since OP didn't mention what kind of earpiece he uses, it's hard to compare.
There are people with loss of hearing and then there are also people that hear well, but still decide to pump 100 decibels into their eardrums for fun, constantly.
So it's a bit hard to differentiate that here.
It's best to use decibels as a reference, but of course most people can't measure it precisely, since they lack the appropriate instruments. Even though there are some smartphone apps for that, but accuracy can be a problem here.

There is also times where the source may just be low in volume. I listen to podcasts and some can be very low volume compared to others to the point some could do with boosting. Others need turning down. All in the same app.

Hi to all devs and fellow XDA members i would like to request all the developers to make a app to activate camera without other person knowing it... with following functionality...
1) fake call , so that you can take your mobile out.
2) start camera without any shutter sound or flash with the answering of fake call
3) Turn display off or show lockscreen( wallpaper) while recording... (recording in background for video mode)...
there is somewhat a similar app for android.. link here
I know how to initiate the camera, and potentially how to make it start recording without user interface...and how to make it hide in the background thereafter....I dont know how to make a fake call tho....
Question tho: How would recording while the person's head is on the phone help? Just wondering
He wants it to look like he's received a call, but he's actually started video recording people around him.
Sounds like a rather unusual request to me. Out of all the reasons I can think of for wanting this application, most of them are seedy or illegal. Maybe that's just my mind

Thanx for your intrest... regarding the fake app , it's just a screen schot of an unknown person and some random number and ringing... may be just a screenshot like this

Well it's good that you think it that way... where i work there are lots people who are mostly blugging and talking against someons back. with this app i would be able to get the evidence of what is going around. I think that is not illegal
Get 'baby monitor' set a number, leave your phone somewhere hidden, when noise is heard it rings the designated number. You can hear everything on the other side of that phone. Best option for now.....
Nice idea though, this app would be awesome!

It depends what you're going to do with the recording.
while your intentions must be good, however you do understand such app would be an invasion of privacy as well as considered illegal.
i wonder someone will make such app public.
best way to get it going would be to learn software skills and make you own.
remember dont make it public.
Remember, Guardian use it for looking activities of his teens. An employer would find it useful to determine if a phone is being used to make personal calls at the expense of the company.

Actually if it is a recording made in a public place it is legal and no consent is needed. What you do with it (or more a case of what you use it for) after words is the key to legal issues. At least in Canada.
My nexus is getting absolutely killed battery wise, and the partial wakelock is mostly with this *overflow* service/process. Does anyone know what it does and how to get rid of it?
Nobody knows?
Maybe an app you've installed? Look for it on settings. It should be there.

Type "overflow betterbatterystats" into google and the second and third links may help you.
They are talking about an app causing it but I'll leave you read it yourself.

Afraid so.
But at least in the future when someone searches for overflow your solution will be there for them! Good deed for the day!
Did you get anywhere with this? It looks like I'm having the same issue too. I've only got a few apps installed on many sgs 3.
ics browser +
Spotify
G strings (music tuner)
Color note
Beautiful widgets.
Thanks.
Same here. I get this issue from time to time with my galaxy nexus. I have to reboot to get it to go away.
Ist it possible that lightflow is The Bad app .
It will logical. Cause the wakelocks are everytime when a message is coming in lightly send a command to the light notification to go on.
I think that's the app in my wakelocks.
I ll try it out.
I have the same entry with overflow on my galaxy s3. but from the list 3 posts up I only habe Beautiful widgets installed. and many other apps. I haven't installed lightflow.

I've not had this return after removing beautiful widgets. My only other offender for random high battery usage is a gtalk process, which I understand is related to google sync rather than the app itself (which has since been removed).
today I have the "overflow" process since many days back. The last weeks I had not this issue. Today I updated many apps in the market and remove "google googles".
And now, there it is. the "overflow" process is back.
Beautiful widgets is no more on my phone. I use now fancy widgets and many other programs.
I think this is a sporadic problem. I reboot my phone and looks forward.
Reboot doesn't help to remove :crying:
Why the hell the process is back.
i have the same with S3, any updates ?
not on my side.
the android 4.1 is out. but at this time only on kies. I have'nt try it out. but i think it is an user installed application that goes to "overflow"
it looks like the battery live time is the same without the overflow, so i ignore it
Have you tried posting here?

I'm fairly convinced it was Beautiful Widgets causing my problem.
I also found Samsung Sync was an offender for increased battery usage, disabling it has increased battery life from 2 and a bit days to 3 and a bit.

Your battery life is terrible because of TuneIn Radio. It eats almost as much battery as the flippin' screen. Unacceptable.
And that's what the AudioOut_2 is from, by the way.
Ya more then likely its that and the fact that you're playing music in general. I get it when using any music player.

Thanks both. But today was unusual as I only use TuneIn Radio once a week, and today was that day, and then it's only for a couple hours at the most. I mainly use Poweramp, or Walkman to listen to my music, but even then, it's at home and plugged in. But another evaluation I did last night while I was sleep showed that audio out 2 at the top of the list with almost as much usage. That's why I was asking what it is. Yesterday was the first time I have used BBS, and I'd just like to know what that audio out 2 was.
Want to know the way I know what I know..??? I use Google. More than likely every incident you have, someone else has had before, and made notes of it on the interwebs. In your case some reports are Audioout_2 is caused by an app called Viber and some other cases its games, I'm pretty sure its anything that causes audio to play.

As far as I can tell from my tests, this particular wakelock covers almost every sound your phone makes, from playing music to outputting system sounds. Starting to play music will add a single count and then add time as long as the music continues to play. I tested this with Poweramp. Aside from this, if you have system sounds on, any system sounds will also trigger a count, the time is dependent upon the length of the system sound. So if you have lockscreen and touch sounds on these will register. You can verify this by opening better battery stats and navigating to the partial wakelock page. Note the number of counts on audio_out 2, then lock and unlock your phone and then refresh the stats. You will see that the count increases each time. It is important to note that this occurs even while in vibrate mode, as the phone still treats it as a sound output even though the sound is silenced, the motor still vibrates the phone to the sound and still uses cpu. The same goes for ringtones and notification sounds. Even while in vibrate this will register as an audio_out 2 wakelock. So the reason you have counts showing up while you sleep is because if your phone gets any notifications or activates any system sounds, even while in vibrate, it will prompt a partial wakelock. This can be remedied by putting your phone entirely into silent mode. I tested this myself by sending myself text messages and refreshing to see if the count increased while in silent mode, which it did not. (As noted earlier it DID increase while in vibrate) I believe it is adequte to simply use the status bar toggle, but if it continues it might help to turn system sounds off in the sound settings as well. (Note: haptic feedback does not trigger this particular wakelock.) Hope this is helpful.
Now that we have S-Off, I have been going over the ROMS that are showing up. I need to know if anyone can point me at a ROM where the Ringtone/Notification sounds have been unlinked. I cannot stand the fact that they are tied together.
Thanks

+1 I am surprised nobody including myself has brought that up yet. It would be fantastic!!
I just realized that they are together and it's really annoying....
I am with you, it is driving me crazy. Basically all the original development roms work, I have tried Vanir (even donated, it works great) and the cm rom. I ran Vanir as my daily driver for about three weeks. The only issue I have with these are (and it may be my imagination) is the sound and camera. With stock you get Beats and I swear it sounds better. You also get the stock camera that has ZOE (which I don't fully appreciate yet but never will if I don't play with it). Also no Blinkfeed (oh, well, darn!) Audio Control from Play store is the only app that I found that will compensate, and it works pretty good. I wish I did not have to use a 3rd party app to make this work. I think it works by tricking the phone, sort of. You select custom ringer and select that level. Notifications and ringtone are still the same but it grabs the call and resets the volume before it rings and then lets it go after it's done. Very clumsy way of explaining but I know it works and allows me to use whatever notification sound I want for individual apps. Most of the other apps out there will over ride these settings and use a default selected tone.
I looked at the Audio Control app and a few others. None of them really did what I want. Like you said.... clumsy approach.
I keep thinking one of the ROMs has to have this feature. The CM 10.1 JB variant for my Droid3 has this, so I am not sure why it does not show up more often. If I was talented enough coder ( and brave enough ) I would build a ROM myself.

Yep, me too. I script a little bit but any of the code that I've fooled with is copy, paste, cross fingers. Like I said above though, Vanir and the CM roms have this feature, but you do have to go into the sound settings and uncheck the box that says link them together. I think all the ASOP based roms are like this. I'm giving Ecliptic (Sense based) a spin right now. If you hold down the home key on this one you get the expanded menu with quick settings, and you can independently manipulate them there, but it does nothing. I hope that at some point this will be picked up and fixed. I've posted a few requests for this feature in the various threads but only one developer came back with a reply and it was basically that he didn't know how. I just don't think there is enough people that notice this and are bothered by it for a developer to look into it. Same thing happened when I needed a kernel with driver support for the Galaxy Tab plus. I was trying to crack WEP for pen testing with the tablet and could not put the nic in promiscuous mode. I finally made my own kernel but only with limited success. Just don't have the talent.
"Ringer & Notification Volume Unlink" module for xposed works though it does not show them unlinked in settings. I have an old Sound Manager app and sure enough, it worked. I can now schedule quiet times for the notification and reduced volume for the ringer and night. WooHoo! Working on Stock Vzw M7_1.10.605.10.

Anybody here tried it? Did it cause any problems? I am particularly concerned with the display problems mentioned as the g30 display is already plagued by low brightness.

I'm using it cause... "auto upgrade"...
And all in all I'm ok with it but I'm experiencing one "bug" (see down below). Colors might be more saturated than before, but it's ok for me and it doesn't "hurt my eyes" as some describe it. I'm using the "natural" display mode and the display warmth slider is in the middle.
I read through the linked article a bit but it seams like the experience is very subjective or not all users experience this phenomenon or at least not as bad / strong.
-------
Since my upgrade to Android 12 I'm experiencing one quite annoying bug.
Background:
I'm using my device with the work profile to keep annoying apps at bay.
Using "Shelter" app.
Using "Aurora Store" in work profile to install apps.
No factory reset was performed since upgrade.
Not rooted.
Problem:
Since the upgrade to Android 12 I'm experiencing an quite annoying bug. Using the "phone" app (private profile) I have no sound and microphone sometimes. So I can't hear and can't be heard. If I'm activating the work profile and use the "phone" app (again from private profile) I suddenly have sound and microphone.
Fix / workaround:
Activate the work profile.
Another way to "fix" this problem is to reboot the phone.
After reboot it works for an undefined time. I haven't tested if the problem starts after using work profile and deactivating it again. I'm testing it and I'll try to not forget to post an update for others.
FYI:
If sound from other apps does work, wasn't tested until now. If you need to call you normally have no time for testing, so reboot it was for me.
Tested solutions:
Tested some general "solutions" from REDDIT & Co.
Editing settings in "Sound & vibration" -> "Audio effects": recommended -> "activate Dolby ATMOS". Phone doesn't have that so i resetted the setting (after tapping "Audio effects" tap "Settings" at the bottom then tap 3 dot menu and tap "Reset")
- DIDN'T WORK
Suggestion: it's a carrier problem
Set network selection to manual and select your corresponding network.
- DIDN'T WORK
Deactivate or activate "Wi-Fi calling". (mine was activated so I deactivated it)
- DIDN'T WORK
Enable or disable "VoLTE". (mine was activated so I deactivated it)
- DIDN'T WORK
My questions:
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Has anyone found a solution?
Thanks
