Ok, nevermind. I have done with that.
You need to extract "param.bin" from the official firmware, modify and flash it. I haven't tested it so I don't know if this will work.

Thats the problem, once I edited the file, I don't know what to do with it. In other words, I just have the picture on my desktop named splash.

you need to search for createg1splash.exe on the boards here, run that, it changes the image to mysplash.raw565 and you can fastboot that one with
fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.raw565

Did you mean some other step other than 9? No trick to it, just place your image in the same folder on your PC as the fastboot.exe
I use Logo Me as strumcat mentioned.

Good stuff. Placing it there just prevents you from having to type or paste the full path to the image.
Edit: I'd make doubly sure this method works with the GN, it can be sensitive to image size IIRC.

That will not work on the Galaxy Nexus.
LogoMe is one option. I'm sure there is a way to do it via dd, but I haven't seen anyone post how to.

param.lfs is not used for boot logo (although there is a copy of boot logo there) - it's already known fact long time ago.
Boot logo is inside bootloader. And since modifying bootloader is very risky with high probability of hard brick, nobody tried it (at least not in public).
Probably there is a way to tell bootloader to use logo from param.lfs. But there is no info about it yet.
That's in the bootloader. You probably don't want to mess around with it
