If I root my S20, will Google Pay still works? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi,
I am looking to root my S20, but I am not clear whether Google Pay still works after that?
If not are there any workaround to get Google Pay to work ?
I am currently using Google Pay on my S20 quite often and I would really miss that.
I am not using Samsung Pay though.
Rbest regards, Chris

As of today, it is possible with Universal SafetyNet Fix 2.1.1. That said, SafetyNet workarounds are a cat and mouse game that cannot be relied upon.

[Q] I have a sim free GN in UK, is it possible to get Google Wallet on it?

Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is a working APK for ICS/GN out there? I really want to get Wallet prepaid working on my Nexus with all its NFC payment goodness.
Thanks
S
Google wallet only works in the US anyway.. but AFAIK there's no ICS version yet (although someone did report getting the old version working on the Nexus S ICS port).
It will work fine in UK, there is a prepaid option using Google Virtual cards that works on any touch pay terminal, including UK ones.

i think he means that your Google account will simply not allow you to use Google Wallet because you are geographically outside of the US.
Google say otherwise...
"Please note that this service is only available on eligible phones to users in the US."
That's why even on a Nexus S you can't install google wallet from the market.

Trick Sidesync Into Phone Mode

Hey All:
I'm on the T800, unrooted stock (I had promised my work sysadmin that I wouldn't root). I'm also using ShareKM through USB on my work PC to use my mouse and keyboard on the tablet (makes a great timeclock). Of course, this means living with the limitations of ShareKM and I expect its impending death.
I'd love to use SideSync for this feature, but Sidesync doesn't share mouse or keyboard to tablets (just to phones). Has anyone had luck persuading SideSync on the GTS to act as a phone rather than a tablet? I was thinking either through modifying build.prop to look like a GS5, using SecureSettings and Tasker, or even the Per App Settings through Xposed. All of these would require me to root, so I'd rather know that a solution works before actually rooting. Then... well I'll just not show the local tech the bootscreen and we'll be all good .
Any ideas? Has anyone tested any of these ways?

Really just bumping this up. Is anyone with a rooted Tab S willing to try any of these ideas if we don't have someone who already knows?

It doesn't look like Per App settings can do this. I'm still hesitant to root my tablet, but with the new Lollipop update ShareKM has officially died. I'd really appreciate if anyone else has any experience or would be willing to guinea pig on this.

No, nobody did. But I do now have a rooted tablet using the Knox 0x0 root (...sshhhhh) so I might try a couple of the ideas that came up. If you're interested, I can post the results here.
So after some headache, I can confirm that I have a working App Settings Xposed Module on my Tab S... but changing the Screen (dp) setting as sometimes work doesn't actually convince SideSync that it's on a phone rather than a tablet. I'm even running an apk that I TiBu'ed over from my Galaxy S5, so I can confirm that the sidesync apk isn't what decides the platform either.
I still haven't touched my build.prop; that might be part of the equation. It'd be nice to have an xposed module that corrects this on a per-app basis, but it doesn't seem to exist.
So I reach out again to the experts - any other ideas?

op5T - ant+ is it working properly

Hi, I am new here. Please bear with me
My present device (Samsung j5 / 2017 model) was damaged and now want to buy a better device - looking at OP5T.
Want to know if this OP5T really supports ANT+ without any hasle? I am reading on the forums - many users experiencing issus such as - a) going into flight mode for using ANT+ b) factory reset c) downloading a set of apps to make it work with ANT+ etc. I am not good at tech things, just a simple user of phone. Can't go around showrooms or find solutions/ experimenting to make it work
A physical trainer by profession, so need this feature badly. Samsung J5 worked like a charm, even from the inception, never had any trouble. I never had to reset that handset; it got crushed accidently when I dropped one of the heavy dumbels. So, now have to buy a new one.
Please advice if OP5T works out of the box, without any hasle?
Thanks for your time in advnce ; Regards

anyone here is able to answer this???
Hi,
I'm using OP 5T with rooted stock OOS 5.1.1 and ANT+ works like a charm for me using IpSensorMan. You have to install the ANT+ Radio Service and, for some apps, the ANT+ Plugins Service from Play Store to make it work. I haven't had any issues, but haven't used it very much either
Hi LasseHoej,
thanks for your positive response. however, I am not really tech guy. How to install this root stocked OS? and how to install IpSensorMen? I know how to install from google playstore. Is it possible to put up a youtube video how to do this? That will be a big help, i know it will be burden on you, but really looking forward to it.
Thanks in advance

Hi again,
You don't need a rooted OS, it should work just fine as your phone is now. IpSensorMan is an app using ANT+. So it's actually just the ANT+ Radio Service and, for some apps, the ANT+ Plugins Service, you need to install from Play Store.

(Guide) Mate 20 X Chinese version for use outside of China

Hey friends,
This is for those of us who are importing the Chinese model.
I thought I'd start this thread, so that we can help each other getting this phone working here in the West. I've never had trouble getting Chinese phones working in the past. I'm hoping that we can discuss some major issues, such as: getting the Google Playstore working & Getting Google Services working....Getting our favorite apps working... :fingers-crossed:

You're correct. It's a few you have to install, not just the play store apk.

#_# Thank god.. for a little there I was scared lol. Never bought a china phone before but this phone looks absolutely amazing.. Have a friend coming back from China tmrw so asked them to pick it up for me before they left and they got me the last one in the store that was 8/256gb. Honestly I'm really hoping for a bootloader unlock and linage OS.. I've come to really love their flavor.
Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Yes there may be a few things you will need to do, because in China they have banned Google and Google Play. These things will need to be installed manually. Hopefully with Android 9 they've made it easier, not harder than previous years.
After installing the Play Store are you good to go then in terms of being able to install whatever you want (Google suite, traditional apps, etc.)?
I'm sorry but there are a lot of problems with a Chinese smartphone:
1) Ok google does not work because huawei blocks this function because you have to use their service and all google's system services (assistent, feed, routine) not work fine
2) The voice command on the keyboard for dictate often does not work expecially with gboard
3) Many application not work eg : banking application and similar
4) The chinese ROM not use whatsapp, telegram the native icon
It seems to get a little bit better each version of Android. I'm hoping that some of the older problems will be fixed with Huawei's Android 9.0 release.
Right now pretty much everything I need is working on my Huawei Mate 9 and as long as they haven't broken anything in the next version, I'll be happy. All my apps work, and I am very happy with Nova Launcher.

(I could be wrong) ... but the shop does not look very reputable,
and it's only 20 euros cheaper than Cect-shop.com
Speaking from my own experience. Usually I installed the Google suite from their brands own app store
They have a specific application that installs the framework, Google contact, play services, play store and maybe a couple more services.
After that pretty much everything works. I'll update more when I got my phone.
I can tell you from my experience that when I bought the Huawei Honor Note 8 it was the china version, and had absolutely no issues with it here in the US. Everything I installed worked, the only thing I did have issues with was I couldnt get HiVoice to work in English (Couldnt find any eng version that would work), Ok Google couldnt work due to Hivoice being the default. The other thing I had to tweak was permissions to getting Google voice to work correctly with Android Auto. All the banking and credit card apps worked fine, obviously the wallet program or other things built in didnt work, but wasnt a deal breaker.

Thank you for the store contact, after considering pros and cons I've just ordered the phone from this store. What drives my decision are few simple facts:
I talked to the seller and he assured me that there is no problem with Gapps and payment systems (like GPay). As I'd had a Chinese phone before I was confident in his assurance.
I'm fully aware of problems with G Assistant but I use it primarily as phone tool with Android Auto and I believe that I could manage to use voice in that restricted purpose.
I don't use voice with the keyboard, health or fitness apps at all. So any misconduct regarding those apps doesn't worry me. It's the same with whatsapp and telegram - don't use them.
Far more annoying is the integration of lousy swift keyboard and ms translate into the system and connecting those applications with primary functionality (camera, AR..). They are really far behind Gboard and G Translate and therefore not only pretty useless but rather the disturbance in the system. But they are integrated into the global rom as well and you can't get rid of them in any region. So tolerate them and suffer or don't have Huawei at all.
But what really prevail in my decision is the fact that I'm buying the phone from a European seller. This not only abolishes any additional taxes and duties on the set price but also gives me an enforceable European warranty and delivery claims.
once you install Google play you can use any app I've never had a problem with WhatsApp or any other app tbh

Rooted Oneplus5T, Samsung pay

Anyone get Samsung Pay to work on a rooted non Samsung phone? I used Magisk hide to hide root for Samsung Pay, but that does not work. Is this something that is just not possible?
thanks
Samsung Pay requires a Samsung phone, and a non-rooted one at that.
(edit - at least that's what I think. I know on a Samsung phone, once you root and trip Knox, you are unable to use Samsung Pay permanently on that device)
thanks, i have read it will work with the watch and a non Samsung phone. I was surprised that magisk hide was not enough to make it work...
I am having OnePlus 5T non rooted with Galaxy watch WiFi edition and it does not still work. I am from India.
I think it used to work with OnePlus 5T and Gear S3 with the gear S3 watch plugin and Samsung pay plugin. The same plugin does not work with Galaxy watch.
We need to wait for Samsung to provide the suppory for Samsung pay along with the watch plugin.

I uninstalled samsung pay, reinstalled and before opening used magisk hide and now it let me set it up. have not had a chance to use it yet.
Use magisk hide to hide root from ALL Samsung apps you will find on your phone. Got a non-samsung phone, had struggles at the beginning too, until I did this, and now it works.
I just updated Samsung Pay on my OP5 and it wouldn't open,l because the phone is rooted. It was working just before the update.
I was able to get it working again by turning off storage permissions for the Samsung Pay watch plug-in and then allowing it again when the app asked for it. Unexpected, but I'll take it.
Rooted 6T here. SPay works fine with Magisk v19 beta.
