Question Random 100% CPU usage while gaming - OnePlus 9 Pro

I don't know what to do, every time I play Asphalt 9 or COD Mobile the first games go very well but there comes a time when the CPU reaches 100% generating FPS drops (Despite using an External Cooler)
I mention the random thing, since I can play several times in the same scenario (in the case of Asphalt 9) and the CPU usage reaches 100% in areas where in the previous games it did not reach 50%
What do you recommend to solve this problem?

can be cpu frequency drops in case of overheating.

Maybe your phone is overheating due to high usage of games and check if there are background running apps, it can also consume Ram usage.

When I go to play I close all the applications and limit the background processes, but still excessive CPU usage still happens :/
Also, I play using an external cooler, Which keeps the temperature of the phone below 38°C

I'm running stock Kernel and stock ROM (No Root), should I root and try TDP Disable?

[Q] CPU Temperature on load

My average CPU temp is 34°C (93°F), and I go up to 67°C (152°F) when I play games (like GTA-VC).
Do you think it's normal that kind of temperature from the S4Pro ?
Actually this is really low...
67c on high load like games, which stress the cpu?
My device goes to 80c easily, starts to throttle cpu speed and shut down cores, all of the devices do that. This temps are normal.
By the way which app you used to measure that temps?
If you really want to see how your device holding up,
Download that app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.into.stability
While run the classic Stability Test measure your cpu usage and temps.
Personally I use FauxClock.
After a few minutes you'll see the high temps and the cores throttle.
Oh, joining this question. Just got a 32Gb LTE version and found out it's getting quite warm when playing something like Osmos, Doodle Jump or something. I don't know how to get the exact temperature, cause monitors I' found on market, show only the battery temp. Anyway who else gets his N7 warm/hot when some heavy app is running? Asking, cause my friend also got the same N7 and I don't remember it to be hot even after running 3D games for quite a long time.
I used the app "System Tuner" from gplay.
Apparently, your StabilityTest app requires more power than GTA-VC, I recorded a 82°C with a 50mV undervolt (on Franco r3 kernel) after a 8min StabilityTest, then I just stopped it. I'm a little afraid of this kind of temperature :/ Are you sure it's okay ? I don't know well the mobile device world...
That's the real temperature , even higher,
And you don't need to worry too much.
Your device will turn off if the CPU reaches too high CPU temp,
And 80-90 c is fine. The soc is built to work on that temps.
As you could see your CPU shutdown cores and lower cores speed while the temperatures going higher, that's called throttle.
You don't need to worry too much.

StabilityTest can load all 4 CPU cores 100%. You won't find a game that does that.
The CPU will be thermally throttled (clock frequency will be limited when the temperature is too high), so you won't damage anything.
And is the average temp of 45-50 °C normal? I'm just using Skype and surfing the internet.

If you run a adb logcat while gaming you start to see alerts going off for high temperatures when it gets around 70°c or higher. I found it very interesting that it was alerting when it got that high instead of ignoring it like you say till 80-90°c.

Games use GPU which adds much more heat to the conclusion.
Stability Test don't.

The device doesn't ignore it till 80-90c. It's start at 60c.
I just say that it's safe temp for the soc to operate. Which means your cpu never use all cores, and the cores that active wouldn't be at the highest speed, while the cpu reaches 60c, more heat more throttle.
Ok thanks to all of you, so it's like computers : if it's too hot, it will stop before it reaches a dangerous temperature.

Those are quite ok. If you include skype with voice/video calling ofcourse. I just get about 30-40 with just surfing and chatting facebook messenger skype/yahoo/viber on background
I'm fairly sure the CPU tends to downclock itself not because IT is getting too hot, but because it's generating too much heat for the battery. Almost all CPUs can easily withstand upwards of 80C. Batteries, on the other hand, can't.

How hot is too hot (gt-i9192)

My gt-i9192 can get a bit hot. Reaching even 45 Celsius when I am outside using for example the maps app (needs gps, data and wifi (it claims it makes GPS more accurate and it seems to do)). or a game or browsing the web. Specially if the environment temperature is high (I consider 25º or so "high" for environment temperature). I am not sure if 45 is too much or if it is just okay fine. It does get uncomfortable and the temperature guard app defaults at 40º for the "too hot" warning.

Keeping GPS on does get hot, particularly if you are using a navigation app. Depending on the games, some times it can be also demanding. But if you also get 45 degrees on browsing, than something is wrong.
You sure if the app is reporting the correct temperature? 45º should be warm to hold in hand (a feel-able temperature).

Sure, I feel the hotness.
I used to get 45 degrees while browsing if the environment temperature is hot. It hasn't happened in a while, recently I moved to a custom kernel, so maybe that fixed it.
My i9190 has been getting really hot lately, and whenever it does the battery drains crazy fast (about 35%/hr). Strange thing is, the task manager shows no apps consuming CPU nor RAM.
I had a similar problem with my old S2 that started after I had had it for about 9 months. At the start of a day battery consumption wasn't bad, but if I used it for an extended period of time it would heat up, and battery consumption seemed to rise linearly with the amount of heat the phone was emitting. There were incidents where it drained to half from full in a matter of less than an hour.
I welcome. I have i9192 and at me temperature at the game on facebook also achieved 45 "C and I returned it to the shop. At other users of this phone what temperature is while looking the Internet through??Can the shop he will accept the warranty??
Ah, I did forget one thing, since I didn't stay on original ROM for long. For those that are on original Samsung ROM, I guess it normal, since the default CPU governor is set on 'performance' mode. Your CPU is running on the highest speed all the time, and most original ROM does not enter deep sleep.
JoeCastellon: If you are on the original ROM, it would be your problem of battery drain. Using a custom Kernel or ROM like vexorian would solve your problem.
groda: Same, if you are on original ROM, running any app even if it not games, it would raise the temperature at a very rapid rate.
I thank for the reply. When install root and to lower the clocking of the processor? by the way, the new ROM will lower the temperature?
My latest "[doh this got too hot]" experience was on Sunday, I was using c0bain's kernel which AFAIK has the "on demand" governor.
I am now trying SilviuMik's ROM, will test during a week and see if the hotness happens again.

Custom/modified ROM or kernel will lower the temperature. Original Samsung ROM - no.
Which ROM you recommend?

For me a battery is overheating. I want install root and new kernel. I have a question. Which kernel will lower the temperature for me? As install new kernel could update whether I will be through wi fi??
The kernel itself will not magically lower the temperature. You will need to manually undervolt the cores to achieve that, which requires a custom kernel which supports undervolting.
Changing your kernel will prevent OTA updates, if that's what you're referring to with the update through WiFi
My cores are working now on the maximum. install the root can I lower the clocking of the processor this way?
It which kernel will be good for my i9192? What thread is it possible to find him in?
Yes with kernel and appropriate app you can adjust clock settings.
Not sure if 9192 has a custom kernel that supports this. Check the development subforums
Okay found one.

[Q] Depressed ... Suggest Guys :(

LG G3 D855 32gb
Please suggest me the ROM and KERNEL and MODS.
I play Clash Of Clans and need good camera.
My phone is getting hot within 5 mins of browsing,
If I'm playing games , its temp goes to 74 C instantly..
I'm not able to talk for more time bcoz of heat..
I'm getting around 2.5 - 3.5 hrs SOT.. 5 months old phone.. Battery is not bulged.. So I don't think battery problem..
Using Greenify, Rooted.
ROM tried :
1. Resurrection Remix.
Phone getting hot (MAX hot 74 C) within 5mins of browing.
Clash of Clans lags.
2. Euphoria :
Its not getting tat hot compared to RR ROM.
But Clash of Clans lags.
When I connect F&D 2.1 Speaker through 3.5mm jack, my phone doesn't detect the speaker. It detects Earphones with no issues.
3. CloudyG3 2.4,2.5:
ROM is smooth, but getting hot instantly when I start gaming.
Getting only 2.5hrs SOT if I play Clash of Clans.
4. Stock Lollipop:
I feel the heater here. :silly:
5. Stock Kitkat:
Heat is bearable, but its not stable, laggy.
Please suggest me the ROM and KERNEL and MODS which will not make that hot.
I play Clash Of Clans and need good camera.
Please suggest me.. Im depressed
But... 3.5hours SOT is normal for some if you use 90-100% brightness... Clash of Clans 2.5hr SOT time is okay, as it is demanding online game.
Thermal mod will only break your phone, as the throttling is there for a reason (heat, duh)
I do not see the problem.

I'm using mostly in 35% brightness.
My problem is its getting hot withing 5 minutes of browsing and within 5 mins of call.
I'm not able to play Clash of clans at all, Once I start playing it, I'm feeling like i'm doing CAMP FIRE.
I heard changing governor in kernel Auditur and some thermal settings will solve the heat issue.
And whether changing the Screen resolution is suggestible?
Thanks

Demanding games make your phone warm. 2G and 3G calling doesn't cause heat.
4G high usage can make this phone hot. Only way to not get your phone warm is by underclocking it, but then games will lag even more. Screen resolution changing may pump the performance, but I don't know how much heat it causes.
This phone has never felt as hot as HTC One, which emit the heat through whole phone due its all metal casing.
I'd advice you to not touch thermal throttling.

I don't have a g3 but I have had issues with the phone getting hot in the past. I suggest trying different kernels to see if it resolves the issue. I currently use an S5 and use Ktoonz Kernel. He has an app called Ktweaker. In this app you are able to change your kernels profiles and scripts. Anytime I experience heat waves I change the profile to fix it. Use a different kernel and see what happens.

after flashing the ROM,
even before I complete the setup (1st boot after flashing new ROM), my phone temp goes to 74 C. Is it normal?
My phone getting hot even without playing games, not all the time though.
Thanks I ll try underclocking.
try cm12.1 with 777jon r10 kernel, -40 uv (you can try -50 or more if you want) and the thermal files from stock "/system/etc/thermal-engine-8974.conf" (that's the most important)

Is this normal?

My phone is running 50 or 60 celsius and all I'm doing is downloading apps to set up the device. Is this normal?
It runs around 40 celsius on idle when doing nothing

LOTS of apps available in the play store do that. Accubattery, for one.
Things are now better and I believe thst the heat is a software issue. My phone now runs around 30 when idling at no use and gets to around 40 when downloading apps. CPU is around 50s when watching videos, but battery stays in the 40s. The reason why I believe this to be a software issue is because my temperatures when playing games, doing benchmarks, etc are similar to when I watch videos, which is a much higher workload. I also don't experience too much throttling as I was still able to get approx. 267 000 in Antutu.

You should anticipate that heavy graphics (gaming, movie watching), etc. is going to raise the temperature. That's perfectly normal.

Yeah, but watching a Youtube vifeo raises it just as much as playing PUBG Mobile on HDR settings or running an Antutu Benchmark. My overall temperatures keep improving, though. Might have been an issue with the data transfer feature.
To update, everything works fine now. It seems I just had a rough start.

Question A52s Heating Issues

I've been using this phone for quite a while now and have been loving it on OneUI 5.1. But the one issue I have and can't seem to chase away is the awful heating issues. My phone heats up to 40C for CPU and 35C for battery even while using the least intensive applications such as reddit, Whatsapp, Youtube and even Telegram or during light multitasking and up to 45C for CPU and 39C for battery while gaming. The heat gets so bad that it's very noticeable on the surface of the phone and is a massive inconvenience most of the time. Does anyone know if this is normal? Do I need to take it to a service center?
Note: (These temps were measured using CPU monitor and AIDA64).

I don't think that's normal, but when I updated to OneUI 5.1 my temps did go up. I didn't measure them, but I sure did feel them.
What you could do is download Good Guardians and install Thermal Guardian, then slide the temp -2°C (left). Also, don't keep GPS enabled or nearby scan if you aren't using them, and try selecting the Standard option in Game Optimization from Game Booster app.
Debloating also helps, especially uninstalling Facebook (and its apps) and Bixby (if you don't use it).
Clearing the system cache and repairing apps may help too. I hope these tips will be helpful for you.
